[Bug 1251925] [NEW] no display outside of X with nvidia-319
Public bug reported: This is on an HP EliteBook 8560w with a Quadro 1000M. With nvidia-319, instead of Plymouth, all I see is purple (same colour as GRUB) on the top part of my screen and the BIOS splash screen on bottom, until X starts and lightdm comes up. When I try to switch to a VT, all I see is a black screen with a purple strip at the top, but input works since I can reboot with Ctrl-Alt-Del or even log in and run commands without being able to see what I'm doing. [Bug 1251926] [NEW] 40grub2 incorrectly extracts title from grub.cfg entries that contain more than two single quotes
Public bug reported: When linux-boot-prober (from os-prober 1.51ubuntu3 on Ubuntu 12.04.3) finds a grub.cfg containing a line like menuentry 'Gentoo GNU/Linux, with Linux x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo' --class gentoo --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo-advanced- eb397f81-2ff4-4751-9c95-39c1e9427a6d' { and runs /linux-boot-probes/mounted/common/40grub2 to parse it, it will return /dev/sda4:/dev/sda4:Gentoo GNU/Linux, with Linux x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo' --class gentoo --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo-advanced- eb397f81-2ff4-4751-9c95-39c1e9427a6d:/boot/kernel-genkernel- x86_64-3.10.17-gentoo:/boot/initramfs-genkernel- x86_64-3.10.17-gentoo:root=UUID=eb397f81-2ff4-4751-9c95-39c1e9427a6d ro where Gentoo GNU/Linux, with Linux x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo' --class gentoo --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo-advanced-eb397f81-2ff4-4751-9c95-39c1e9427a6d is the title (which should just be Gentoo GNU/Linux, with Linux x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo instead). Apparently, the regex used by 40grub2 is too greedy and matches everything between the two outermost single quotes, instead of the first two. The same will probably happen with entries where the title is enclosed in double quotes and more than two of those are present, but I haven't observed it yet. I have attached a patch for 40grub2 that modifies the regex to stop at the first occurence of a single quote for titles enclosed in single quotes and the first double quote for titles enclosed in double quotes. Note that this might fail in the rare case of someone using escaped quotes in their GRUB menuentry titles (although I'm not entirely sure if that's even supported). ** Affects: os-prober (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: Patch to fix the regexes used to extract the menuentry titles from a grub.cfg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251926/+attachment/3910738/+files/40grub2.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251926 Title: 40grub2 incorrectly extracts title from grub.cfg entries that contain more than two single quotes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/os-prober/+bug/1251926/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1111884] Re: nouveau fails at suspend/resume - PAGE_NOT_PRESENT
After a few more tests: I still get the same PAGE_NOT_PRESENT errors, as well as a subsequent NULL pointer kernel oops. This occurs both with the new Ubuntu package and with a manually-compiled upstream libdrm. So the mesa/libdrm update does not solve this bug. After thinking about this, this problem can't be solely a user-space issue; user space should not be able to trigger this kind of kernel oops. Plus, Ben Gamari was already able to bisect this within the kernel. So at least some part of this is related to the kernel-space nouveau component. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884 Title: nouveau fails at suspend/resume - PAGE_NOT_PRESENT To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/884/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1251928] [NEW] pulseaudio guvcview and logitech webcam (c310) cannot set freq
Public bug reported: From the moment i connected the logitech c310 on my (multiboot) desktop i had the error mssage when booting: [some numbers here] 2:3:1 cannot set freq 16000 to ep 0x86 The 2:3:1 was sometimes (but i do not remember in which edition of ubuntu-lubuntu) 4:3:1, 4:3:2 etc and 16000 was increasing to 24000 32000 and may be more... If i disconnect the camera, the above message doesnt appear... Also, i found the same problem on lubuntu 13.04 and i upgraded to lubuntu 13.10, and the problem, still remained. (I also had lost the sound on lubuntu 13.04 and the upgrade didn't help... ) I made a fresh install of lubuntu 13.10 and then, i couldn't choose pulseaudio from guvcview (I think another bug), but this (i think) solved the problem. So i think the pulseaudio is the problem. (Except of the logitech that calls my system unsupported system)... I will continue my report from other distributions of ubuntu (ubuntu 13.10, lubuntu 12.04). As a summary, fresh install of lubuntu 13.10 solves th problem (I think because i cant enable pulseaudio and the system uses portaudio instead)... But the upgrade didn't In ubuntu 12.04 i can't find a solution yet and i have tried some compinations of sound settings throught system settings guvcviewer controls and skype (that doesn't allow me to change pulseaudio) Please do not answer for 1 hour... because i want to continue the report from my other distros ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: linux-image-3.8.0-33-generic 3.8.0-33.48~precise1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-33.48~precise1-generic 3.8.13.11 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-33-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version k3.8.0-33-generic. [Bug 973160] Re: internal microphone doesnt work
laura garcía, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. Installed the 3.11 kernel from saucy-updates and the behaviour is the same, so it's not that, either. Actually, it seems to happen as soon as nouveau is blacklisted, regardless of whether nvidia is actually active... it's like the fallback VGA console isn't working. [Bug 978622] Re: every app becomes unresponsive when nautilus is copying files
Terry Jones, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this. Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. ** Description changed: FileDialogs 1.0 http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtquickdialogs/qml-qtquick-dialogs1-filedialog.html First, I'm a Qt/QML greenhorn, I'm sorry if I missed something. I created a Qt Quick 2 UI project and wanted to import QtQuick.Dialogs 1.0, but it complains “Module not found”. /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/QtQuick contains all imports, expect 'Dialogs' and 'Layouts'. [Bug 1251940] [NEW] software-properties-gtk does not have drivers tab
Public bug reported: I recently upgraded my nvidia driver and after rebooting, checked jockey (additional drivers) to see if the new driver was installed. It said it was activated, but not in use. This was an error as it was clearly in use. I then discovered that jockey has been superseded by software- properties-gtk. This is the gui that should be used for the old additional drivers function. When running software-properties-gtk, the dialog that opens does not have the last tab on the right that should show the additional drivers. Release: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64 bit Version software-properties-gtk: Installed: 0.82.7.6 What is expected: software-properties-gtk should have a tab for updating video drivers. [Bug 980824] Re: Monitor HP D1194A VGA/SVGA DISPLAY with problems
André Lopes, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this. [Bug 981167] Re: Wifi Networking in Precise is intermittent
Christopher Phelps, as per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update is available for your BIOS (1.52). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1.52 kernel-wifi needs-upstream-testing regression-potential ** Description changed: - On my Lenovo T500 and T510 everytime I update my system to the Precise trunk I get intermittent connection to my wifi connection. It always says I am connected but I can't ping out regularly, can't update my system because I can't connect to the servers, can't install new software, and can't do any work online. This is a no go for me on the system, if I reset my wifi connection ... ie turn off the radio and then turn it back on ... it seems to work again for maybe a minute and then it doesn't work again. As such at this time I have to stick with oneiric which is still working for me. That means however that I cannot recommend Precise for anyone and I can't receive the newest software on my machine, something I pride myself in, I am completely disappointed and don't know what to do to try to fix this issue. The connection should be stable, like it is in oneiric and previous versions and it is not, this is not an issue with my laptop - AFAIK - because Linux Mint, Ubuntu Oneiric, and numerous other Linux Distributions work just fine with my network connection the only one having issues right now is the Precise trunk. - --- + On my Lenovo T510 everytime I update my system to the Precise trunk I + get intermittent connection to my wifi connection. [Bug 982829] Re: After wake-up from Suspend-To-RAM trackpad sometimes doesn't work
Tommy_CZ, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. [Bug 1251946] [NEW] Network related kernel panic on Atom 64bit system using saucy backport stack on precise
Public bug reported: I can't report this through ubuntu-bug as the system is a firewall with restricted connectivity and the kernel bug prevents me from using the system for more than a couple minutes anyway. I recently deployed the saucy kernel on that precise system, after the first reboot things looked fine but just a few minutes later, the whole system hang. When run interactively all that happens is the errors get written to the log. The scheduled job must be running at higher priv. Problem occurred when target was a directory on an NTFS esata drive. [Bug 967907] Re: ACPI Error: Method parse/execution
Christopher, The hangs described in this bug report have been fixed for me. It was, it seems, a RAM hardware issue which my computer store was refusing to aknowledge and blaming Linux for it. I did however update the BIOS as you suggested, and it seems there are no more ACPI kernel errors as I only get these warnings now, Nov 16 22:42:15 b12 kernel: [2.626931] ACPI Warning: 0x0530-0x053f SystemIO conflicts with Region \GPR2 1 (20121018/utaddress-251) Nov 16 22:42:15 b12 kernel: [2.626937] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver Nov 16 22:42:15 b12 kernel: [2.626939] ACPI Warning: 0x0500-0x052f SystemIO conflicts with Region \GPR2 1 (20121018/utaddress-251) Nov 16 22:42:15 b12 kernel: [2.626943] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/967907 Title: ACPI Error: Method parse/execution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/967907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
