[Bug 659024] Re: fatal errors installing oss-compat, snd_pcm_oss module not found
This bug is not fixed. Now when installing oss-compat, it recommends osspd. However, installing osspd forces and uninstall of oss-compat. There is a warning given that oss-compat is a dependency of aumix. It is not until I tried to reinstall oss-compat and osspd was uninstalled that it said osspd provides oss-compat. This leads me to wonder why there was a dependency warning. The package aumix should be marked as depending on osspd or oss-compat if oss-compat is provided in both. This still leaves aumix without the correct device. Neither of these packages provide an emulated or linked device for /dev/mixer which is required for aumix. I suppose one simply should not install aumix in the first place, but I think things would just be simpler if Ubuntu put OSS modules back in the kernel so that `modprobe snd_mixer_oss` would work. It would also make many people frustrated with PulseAudio much happier. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659024 Title: fatal errors installing oss-compat, snd_pcm_oss module not found To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oss-compat/+bug/659024/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I wonder if either: 1. The bug was fixed for nvidia-319-updates instead but nvidia-319 was mistakenly tagged 'Fix Released' 2. The bug has actually not been fixed in nvidia-319 3. [Bug 1088146] Re: Asus n56vz battery state is wrong or battery not charging at all.
I also have this problem with my new N56VZ computer from Asus. I have complained about it to the dealer, he ask me to return it (in Sweden I live in Denmark?) This is according to the above a general problem and not at all acceptable. Asus cannot be considered as a serious problem. They should fix the problem and make a recall to all customers to get the failure corrected. I have tried both W8, W8.1 and a dual boot combination of course nothing of this influences the problem , which certainly is a hardware problem? ! [Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly
@angiolucci: I followed your instructions but after the first long suspend the bug appeared. So it basically behaves the same as before after a simple reset power. I would really appreciate if you could answer some of the questions below: What is your exact model? (mine is NP900X4C-A02CH) Did you have the most recent firmware before the process? (mine is P07ABK although according to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SamsungBIOS there is a more recent version) I followed http://www.tecmint.com/kernel-compilation-in-debian-linux/ for making a debian version of the kernel and I started from the already existed config file. I found the INTEL_MEI and INTEL_MEI_ME options acccording to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44161#c74 and changed them to be compiled into the kernel but changed NO other configuration options. I compiled the recent kernel 3.12.5. I found another interesting info https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44161#c98 about the requirement that some service must run in the user-space, which I don't really know how to check or what config option is responsible for that, so I ignored it. (This was my first kernel compilation) Can you spot any problems in the process? Or do you have any comments that may help me? [Bug 1260957] [NEW] Libreoffice Impress crashes when inserting an image
Public bug reported: I'm using Impress in LibreOffice 4.1.3.2 and Kubuntu 13.10 (KDE4). The version of my libreoffice-kde (the package I suspect this is related with), is 1:4.1.3-0ubuntu1 I've followed some instructions found in the web and I'm using the LibreOffice dialogs, which are ugly compared to KDE UI. As I've read this post about Gentoo, and maybe it helps: http://dilfridge.blogspot.com.es/2013/12/libreoffice-kde-integration.html it would be great if Kubuntu/Ubuntu team integrates this, or solves the annoying crash bug in any other way. [Bug 659024] Re: fatal errors installing oss-compat, snd_pcm_oss module not found
This bug is about errors preventing the installation of oss-compat, and is fixed. If you're unhappy about the audio functionality available in Ubuntu, please file bugs against the relevant packages (the kernel if you really want to be able to use aumix with /dev/mixer, osspd if you'd like it to support /dev/mixer). If you're using pulseaudio I'm not sure aumix is particularly useful anyway... [Bug 994921] Re: 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/app.crash' (and even more so, 'apport-cli -c /var/crash/app.crash') should still allow manual bug filing in stable releases
I've wasted several hours today trying to report a kernel oops. At the very least, as mentioned previously in https://bugs.launchpad.net/apport/+bug/997283/comments/8, apport-cli(1) and the messages from the command should explain clearly what will, or won't, or has, or hasn't happened. The wiki has a note, but if you go to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs, then from Contents to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#System_crash, the note is just above there, and you'll only see it if you scroll up, and why would you scroll up? The note says apport will appear to upload a crash report, but only actually does so if whoopsie is installed. Whoopsie is installed by default for users of ubuntu-desktop, but for users of alternative desktops, or for server users, whoopsie has to be installed manually with apt-get install whoopsie. See bug #1001630 for details. I don't understand why it's only Ubuntu users who can upload crash reports by default (I'm using Kubuntu). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994921 Title: 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/app.crash' (and even more so, 'apport-cli -c /var/crash/app.crash') should still allow manual bug filing in stable releases To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1242462] Re: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy
The reason for the last comment is that apparently many issues seem to be related by higher level tools using wrong (maybe old?) interfaces for low level operation, as the strace indicates for bluedevil. The fact that the same kind of issues are present using both the unity indicator interface and the kde bluedevil interface seems to me an interesting symptom for developers. The fact that there is no bluetooth applet to test with the most current higher level tools is reported because it makes testing more difficult. In any case, please let me know if it is better/OK if I close this bug as invalid and open - one for bluetooth applet missing - one for bluedevil not working - one for indicator bluetooth not working -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242462 Title: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-bluetooth/+bug/1242462/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1165433] Re: Kernels from 3.8.x to 3.11.x panic on bluetooth DUN disconnect
There is no activity from me because I have unsubscribed from the bug... it is just by chance that I am reading this now. This bug has been investigated and fixed in recent linux ages ago and Jussi, eccerr0r and I have provided all the relevant information and pointers in this thread. It has also been clarified in LKML that due to the type of bug it is quite meaningless to provide traces and that this bug may cause data loss due to corruption of the kernel data structures. Yet, dangerous as it is, and regardless of the many users confirmig the issue, the bug remains unconfirmed because there is no apport-collect that is considered much more important than all the other info. And since the bug is not confirmed, the ubuntu kernel developers are just ignoring the report and all the useful pointers to upstream discussion. And not surprisingly ubuntu remains unfixed months after the upstream fix. Similarly not surprisingly duplicate bug reports spring out without being recognized as such. Unfortunately, I must say that I really find it a waste of time to report bugs and spend time in checking the LKML and provide pointers to the root relevant discussion there and pointers to upstream patches that fix the issue in this condition. And this is why I gave in. Also it is a bit sad that eccerr0r is invited not stay out of the discussion in the duplicate 1256811 just because his main OS is gentoo. I am also really sorry to say that the management of this bug report seems to me as all rules and bureaucracy and zero substance, but I hope that this can be accepted as constructive criticism, since I'm also taking the time to try to explain why I'm getting this impression. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165433 Title: Kernels from 3.8.x to 3.11.x panic on bluetooth DUN disconnect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165433/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Not sure what component to file this against-- please reassign as desired. I use my phone to play music on random while I'm driving. This works great except when I want to advance or pause the song, where I have to go through the greeter first to access the player. This can either take my attention away from driving or I need to wait until the next stop light to advance the song. This is less of a concern when the greeter can just be swiped with one gesture, but is a big concern if you enable the passcode lock where you have to add the passcode to access the player. If the music is playing, the greeter should allow rudimentary manipulation of the music, eg, pause/play and forward/back. Other platforms seem to allow for this (eg android). ** Affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: avengers ** Also affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1260978 Title: should be able to control music service from the greeter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1260978/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1260980] [NEW] activity and bookmarks functionality is too slow
Public bug reported: This is not a regression (I'm only just now filing this). If I open the webbrowser-app and press 'Activity' from the bottom toolbar, it can take several esconds (5-10) for the activity tab to display. Once it does, scrolling up and down is painfully slow. Left to right scrolling with a category (This year, This month, etc) is acceptable. The performance of Activity seems to be aggravated by the number of items in the activity. Eg, if I remove ~/.cache/webbrowser-app and ~.local/share/webbrowser-app, then performance is improved. Accessing bookmarks is also very slow-- you have to go through Activity to access them, and then clicking the Bookmarks tab takes several seconds to display. Vertical scrolling seems better in Bookmarks than in Activity and is usable with the number of bookmarks I have, but the performance is somewhat sluggish and could be improved. This is on mako on latest promoted trusted image (58). ** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Tags: avengers ** Description changed: This is not a regression (I'm only just now filing this). [Bug 1260981] [NEW] multiple certificate prompts for self-signed certificate
Public bug reported: If I go to a site that serves content with a self-signed or otherwise invalid certificate, I get a prompt that says: This connection is untrusted You are trying to securely reach foo, but the security certificate of this website is not trusted. Proceed Anyway Back to safety However, if the site delivers lots of content via https, multiple prompts are given to the user. I couldn't remember the site that I discovered this on, so I googled and found: https://www.pcwebshop.co.uk Navigating to this site in webbrowser-app will prompt the user with 7-14 certificate prompts. [Bug 1260957] Re: Libreoffice Impress crashes when inserting an image
danitxu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-dbg uno-libs3-dbg ure-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and it does nothing, you may be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: gksudo gedit /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash Please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 934480] Re: 046d:c52b Logitech Wave keyboard multi-media keys don't all work
Jason Smith, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this. Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc3 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed.
