[Bug 1186228] Re: guestmount does not work
To diagnose this what you have to do: (1) Run libguestfs-test-tool It will (presumably) fail. It will also print out an febootstrap- supermin-helper command line (or in newer versions, a supermin-helper command line). In the comment above, it printed out: febootstrap-supermin-helper --verbose -f ext2 /usr/lib/guestfs/supermin.d i686 /var/tmp/guestfs.t3yS8p/kernel /var/tmp/guestfs.t3yS8p/initrd /var/tmp/guestfs.t3yS8p/root (But note that your command line will be different). (2) Modify the command line slightly. The 'kernel', 'initrd', and 'root' options are *output* files. You want those to be on /var/tmp. Also add -v -v -v. So you'd end up with something like: febootstrap-supermin-helper --verbose -v -v -v -f ext2 /usr/lib/guestfs/supermin.d i686 /var/tmp/kernel /var/tmp/initrd /var/tmp/root Run that command and it will print out lots of very detailed debugging information about what supermin-helper is trying to do. Most likely (assuming you've not run out of disk space) it's because there's some symlink or parent directory missing, which you can fix by adding the right missing directory to /usr/lib/guestfs/supermin.d/00 -missing-dir (see the supermin-helper man page). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to seabios in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186228 Title: guestmount does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libguestfs/+bug/1186228/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1264050] [NEW] ruby on a fresh install is too minimal to use
Public bug reported: On a fresh raring or saucy install of Xubuntu, there's ruby-1:1.9.3 installed, but it's pretty useless as a programming tool because of the lack of support for things like ri(1). The ri program exists, but is useless because it doesn't have any documentation to work with. For example, ri Array says Nothing known about Array. OTOH, when I installed ruby1.9.1-full, indeed I get a full ruby, with all the support and an ri that knows its stuff. So: consider this a request for enhancement: The ruby package should say it's minimal and suggest how to get the full version. [Bug 1169437] Re: network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue
As of Ubuntu 13.04 NetworkManager transmits nameserver information to dnsmasq over D-Bus, but I believe it configures dnsmasq in the same way. NetworkManager is prepending /domain/ strings to the returned DNS server [addresses] so that they are only used for the local domain. NetworkManager prepends domain names to the DNS server addresses so that those addresses are only used for those domains, which are presumably the (non-public) domains of the VPN. Remaining queries are falling to the bottom two servers, which are the original pre-VPN DNS servers Thas is by design. for which routes no longer exists causing DNS queries to anything other than example.com domain to fail. That is a bug in the routing configuration. I suggest you investigate it. [Bug 1169437] Re: network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue
As I wrote in comment #11, I can't reproduce the behavior of nameserver addresses supplied by the OpenVPN server not being used correctly. It seems that if there was a bug in Ubuntu 12.10 then it has been fixed in more recent versions. In the ensuing four months no one has contradicted these findings so I am closing this report. Along the way other issues have been reported. Either these have already been reported or they should be reported in separate tickets. ** Changed in: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169437 Title: network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/1169437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Christopher Thanks for you email. I am not using 10.04 any more, so I can't test as described below. Thank you for the good work. Happy to be using Ubuntu. op 23-12-13 14:56, Christopher M. If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? [Bug 888789] Re: evince doesn't render embedded font
I can reproduce this bug by trying to open the pdf failing.pdf (posted earlier). Note that it appears fine to my eyes but the error messages to STDERR and the apparmor entries in kern.log show that there is a problem. It must be that the problem font is just not used in many parts of this particular PDF. In another document, I can see no text. I cannot upload it because of private information. Adding the line /usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/fonts/** r, to the /usr/bin/evince block solves the problem. I can reproduce starting from a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 with the following: sudo apt-get install git git clone https://github.com/scottkosty/install-tl-ubuntu cd install-tl-ubuntu sudo ./install-tl-ubuntu # restart computer evince failing.pdf Note that ./install-tl-ubuntu could take an hour or so to install. [Bug 1263458] Re: no OpenGLX with Nvidia-prime and the discrete card
I have the solution for this bug ! 1): - In fact, the nvidia-331 driver erase the intel's driver configuration's files, that's the cause of GLX extension missing on screen 0 and the unity's bug. 2) - So we need to install nvidia-prime and nvidia-331. [Bug 390508] Re: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter
Allow me to clarify the situation. In the Desktop Notification Specification there is nothing to suggest that the expire_timeout parameter is optional. https://developer.gnome.org/notification-spec/#commands The devs for gnome-shell and notifyOSD have taken it upon themselves to silently(!) ignore the parameter in their server implementation. There is a comment in the code for gnome-shell that states this, but IMHO that is not the right way to deal with this. I can see two logical solutions: 1) Fix gnome-shell and notifyOSD to conform to the spec. ie. stop ignoring the expire_timeout parameter. This implies modifications to the code (see aforementioned patch) and no modification to the spec. 2) Change the spec to explicitly advertise support for expiration timeout via a server capability eg. if expire-timeout does not appear in the list returned by org.freedesktop.Notifications.GetCapabilities() then the client will _know_ that the expire_timeout parameter will be ignored because the server does not support it. This solution would imply no modifications to the code for gnome-shell/notifyOSD (they will not have expire-timeout published in capabilities, therefore ignoring the expire_timeout parameter becomes perfectly logical and expected.) It will however require changes to the spec and probably to various other client and server implementations. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390508 Title: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/390508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 974480] Re: Notification area whitelist is obsolete
Hey Mark, can you please comment on this. According to the origin of this bug The application indicator system has been in place for two years now, which should be long enough for applications to adopt it. Ok, i asked one of the (Debian) developers to consider to support it in some tk app(so as you don't provide tk bindings they should be created first). So he asked me about, surprize, documentation. And the questions are: 1) Do you think that application indicator system so popular and mature enough, so 3 of 4 links from the https://unity.ubuntu.com/projects/appindicators/ could lead to 404 pages 2)Do you think it's so cool that it even not worth to mention it at http://developer.ubuntu.com/api/ 3) Is it really so hard to recognize your fail and revert the patch that breaks compatibility instead of forcing the world to play with your half supported/half abandoned API initiative? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974480 Title: Notification area whitelist is obsolete To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/974480/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1171729] Re: no backlight controls with nvidia driver on MacbookPro5, 5
Hi All The solution from wvengen does work perfectly for me. I also have a macbook pro 5.5 and at the moment I'm running Ubuntu 13.10. My Nvidia Driver at the time of typing is 304 but I will try 319 soon. Just install git via: sudo apt-get install git if no already done. Next step is clone the mentioned repo. So type: git clone https://github.com/guillaumezin/nvidiabl.git Next step is to install the latest package in the install/deb folder. First enter the install/deb folder via cd nvidiabl/install/deb next is to actually install the driver via sudo dpkg -i nvidiabl-dkms_0.85_all.deb if a newer version (higher number thant 0.85) is available install this one instead. After installation has completed one needs to restart and backlight control does work again :) Credits go to guillaumezin and wvengen for coding and pointing me to the solution.
