[Bug 1264739] [NEW] YouTube black box with audio, needs refreshing to play
Public bug reported: Frequently and for some time I've had to refresh the page when loading a youtube video. What tends to happen is I get a black box, with audio, but no video. Unfortunately, there are not settings exposed by the GUI in Applications Menu - Settings - Mouse and Touchpad to adjust this. Unfortunately, there are not settings exposed by the GUI in Applications Menu - Settings - Mouse and Touchpad to adjust this. As well, this is despite in that menu - tab Devices - checkbox Disable touchpad while typing is unchecked. This is quite inconvenient as one could have their mouse towards the top of the screen, scrolling with the touchpad and not notice things are being pasted unintentionally. Hence, this functionality should be opt- in, versus opt-out. + + I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=01b1 + N: Name=SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad + P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0 + S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input8 + U: Uniq= + H: Handlers=mouse0 event12 + B: PROP=9 + B: EV=b + B: KEY=6420 3 0 0 0 0 + B: ABS=26080001103 WORKAROUND: Change RTCornerButton=2 to 0 via: synclient RTCornerButton=0 WORKAROUND: Ensure one does not accidentally use a clicking motion on the top right of the touchpad when scrolling. [Bug 1264636] Re: HDMI Audio out fails on Geforce 8200 (MCP78)
Attaching output of alsa-info.sh while running the 3.11.10 kernel (alsa- info.txt.kernel_3.11.10_20131228), I can roll back to the release kernel and re-run the script if needed. ** Tags added: apport-collected precise ** Description changed: I have an XFX Geforce 8200 (MCP78) motherboard. While HDMI video out works fine, HDMI audio doesn't work with the 3.8 kernel (3.8.0-29 or 3.8.0-34), I've tried with both the nouveau and nvidia binary drivers. The analog outputs work with either driver. After upgrading to kernel 3.11.10-031110-generic, from the kernel mainline PPA, and using the nouveau drivers I'm able to get audio out over HDMI, using the following options in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf: options snd-hda-intel single_cmd=1 probe_mask=-1,0x8 unmute iec958 While using this configuration, I have audio and it's mostly stable, however, I'm unable to take advantage of 3d acceleration and HD video playback is choppy. If I then use the any of the nvidia drivers (304, 319, 331, or current) I get frequent crashes, including system lockups. I have confirmed with VLC, mplayer2, and speaker-test that no audio comes out through HDMI until the 3.11 kernel, nouveau drivers, and the modprobe options mentioned are all in place. Me too. This is the best desktop video capture I've used. I've tried recordmydesktop, it produces buggy files that can't be edited. There's nothing wrong with it. [Bug 1264751] [NEW] Saucy - Asus G75VW F2 Wifi Key Not Working
Public bug reported: I'm using 13.10 x64 with an Asus G75VW and the F2 to turn the Wifi adpater on/off does not work. The WiFi works on the laptop, but if I press the F2 the adpater can't be turned off and on, also the light for the Wifi is not lit up on the front of the laptop. Since the Wifi works I'm not sure why the light doesn't appear on. [Bug 1263127] Re: hi-contract icons not visible
Ok I found the package needed, this command fixes the issue: sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386 It pulls a lot of 32-bit libraries and then Skype can get the proper themes and colors, included high contrast ones. I am not sure if there is a smaller subset of libraries needed, but this is what I found to fix the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263127 Title: hi-contract icons not visible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-icon-theme-symbolic/+bug/1263127/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1264733] Re: lxc-create: invoke-rc.d: policy-rc.d denied execution of start
It's not an error but perfectly intended behaviour. If the template was to fail, lxc-create would fail and give a clear error message. The message you saw comes from the fact that lxc prevents daemon from starting when preparing the container. This is needed to prevent the installation of openssh-server in the container from restarting the host's ssh server. The message is perfectly normal and in no way flagged as an error. ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264733 Title: lxc-create: invoke-rc.d: policy-rc.d denied execution of start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1264733/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1229195] Re: Openconnect will not connect under Saucy -- openssl problem?
Kevin, I've been away on vacation for two weeks. Sorry for the delay in responding. What I really know is that the --no-xmlpost option fixed it somehow. I assumed it was related to the code that I looked at briefly that you appear to have also found restricting to auth group to the choices returned by the server. I assumed that --no-xmlpost somehow caused that entire piece of code to be skipped, but I never saw where that actually occurred. I propose that at least one fix would be to generate a warning (instead of failing) during that validation. I don't think the server returns the choice I'm using either way, but it does accept the value when it is explicitly specified. The server is not public, and I doubt that providing the name would be of much use to you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1229195 Title: Openconnect will not connect under Saucy -- openssl problem? [Bug 1264758] [NEW] Windows leave trails upon exit from fullscreen
Public bug reported: When a user leaves a fullscreen application, it leaves a trail on the screen temporarily. A screenshot of this issue is provided. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open application. 2. Make application fullscreen (this bug has an affinity for occuring with windows that are snapped to one side or snapped to the top) 3. Leave fullscreen (instantly leaving fullscreen may not work, and you may have to leave the program in fullscreen for a period of time before this bug will appear) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-14.21-generic 3.11.7 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-14-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true Date: Sun Dec 29 12:00:13 2013 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: saucy DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bbswitch, 0.7, 3.11.0-14-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-319, 319.32, 3.11.0-14-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21f5] NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [NVS 5400M] [10de:0def] (rev ff) (prog-if ff) InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-12-21 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MachineType: LENOVO 2359CTO MarkForUpload: True ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-14-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=af0a86f6-db51-4486-b708-cfd54fe9cc32 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 10/17/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: G4ET97WW (2.57 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 2359CTO dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Win8 STD DPK TPG dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrG4ET97WW(2.57):bd10/17/2013:svnLENOVO:pn2359CTO:pvrThinkPadT530:rvnLENOVO:rn2359CTO:rvrWin8STDDPKTPG:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 2359CTO dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T530 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.10+13.10.20131011-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.46-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.2.1-1ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.2.1-1ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.14.3-3ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu3.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.2.0-0ubuntu10 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.904-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.9-2ubuntu1 xserver.bootTime: Sun Dec 29 09:39:28 2013 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: product id4589 vendor AUO xserver.version: 2:1.14.3-3ubuntu2 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 corruption saucy ubuntu ** Attachment added: example of bug occuring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264758/+attachment/3937094/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-12-29%2011%3A57%3A57.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264758 Title: Windows leave trails upon exit from fullscreen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1264758/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1263128] Re: Skype is hidden under technical items in USC when installed from deb downloaded from skype
There are TWO issues with Skype debian package shipped at skype.com at the moment: 1. After the installation of Skype the button is showing Install like nothing happened, despite has been correctly installed, this bug was fixed in Ubuntu 13.04 and regressed again in Ubuntu 13.10. 2. To uninstall Skype these are the steps: a) open Ubuntu Software Center and search for skype b) click on the _very_ hidden Show 18 technical items (High Contrast screenshots show that link is not even accessible, color contrast is not ok) c) scroll circa to the middle of the page to finally see Skype d) click on it e) click Remove Result: Both install and uninstall of Skype package is very hard and not user friendly. We are open for suggestions on how to address this issue by Ubuntu 14.04 and make sure it is NOT going to regress one more time for Ubuntu 14.10. Despite this, so your hardware may be tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into a Ubuntu repository kernel (not a mainline one) via: ubuntu-bug linux For more on this, please read the official Ubuntu documentation: Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue Ubuntu Kernel Team: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports Ubuntu Community: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it. [Bug 575120] Re: Resolution of splash screen reduces when NVIDIA proprietary drivers are installed
What is controversial about this, I don't understand that remark? This might work great on Desktop Screens but I've personally always used laptops with Ubuntu since Plymouth was first introduced to Ubuntu and I've never seen it look all that great on a laptop display. There is constantly text appearing on bootup and restart/shutdown. In the past when I've Distro Hopped I've seen Suse and Fedora display nice splash screens without any text. Sure it's doesn't affect the system, it's just cosmetic, but it makes Ubuntu look unprofessional and unpolished, it's cheesy as some would say. As big as Canonical is they should be able to put togther staff that can create a clean looking bootup splash, 100% clean on bootup, and restart/shutdown and no text spewing across the screen. To sit back and say it's just cosmetics and not fix this issue is lame, this has been like this since the beginning of Plymouth, so how many years are we talking that Canonical hasn't fixed this? That's a long time for something that isn't that complicated. All we are talking about is displaying and image on boot up and shutdown/restart it's not that complicated. Let's look at Windows 7 Windows 8 as an example, this is what we are talking about a clean screen. So what's it going to take for Canonical to finally sit up and make this thing look clean and professional? It is true that in certain aspects of the business world image is everything and a First Impression is based upon looks, so I'm not to sure why Canonical has the bootup, shutdown/restart process looking like such crap. I'm sorry but it really does and it really needs to step into the 21st Century with a nice clean look, Professional Polished! PLEASE pass my comments onto to those repsonsible for this undertaking and let's not take it so lighlty but consider this is an important aspect of computing, making a nice impression at bootup... [Bug 1225921] Re: AMD crossfire not supported
ok sorry for the delay ... now I have 2x 7950 and this is nearly the same : on liveCD, X server fails to display properly with crossfire. but instead of having a pink screen, this time I have a sort of unity screen, but window content and background is very corrupted. still works well when there is only one card ... and same behaviour with 14.04 nightly. so I made a fresh install of ubuntu 13.10 amd64 with only one card, installed fglrx-update, then reboot with 2 cards. and ran ubuntu-bug linux which reported this bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1264773 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1225921 Title: AMD crossfire not supported To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1225921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
