[Bug 1111884]
(In reply to comment #38) Do you have any reason to believe that you have the same problem? This one was bisected to commit 4f6029da58ba9204c98e33f4f3737fe085c87a6f which appeared in v3.8 (which means that 3.7.x should all be fine). Not necessarily, although initially the bug symptoms were rather similar, and it's a similar family of hardware. I'm only now checking the bisection myself, and it seems that that particular commit is not my only problem. Of course you have the additional problem of having a nva8 (this bug has nv98 hw users, although that doesn't exclude you from having the same issue -- the bisected commit was fairly generic), which is still unstable for some users, but was even more unstable in earlier kernels. Well, that could complicate my ability to fix things here. I suspect that this particular regression is one of several issues on my hardware, then. As for not seeing a PAGE_NOT_PRESENT -- are you sure that the kernels in question had code to emit the error in the first place? The code seems to be present. For instance, I'm trying 3.6, where I see nv50_fb_vm_trap() (drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nv50_fb.c) has the same VM: trapped write at 0x log message. So I presume that if I was still experiencing the fault in 3.6, it would appear in the log. BTW, I noticed Ben Gamari's earlier comments about mesa versioning, so I downgraded to 9.1.4, and I still experience the same behavior. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884 Title: 10de:0611 nouveau fails at suspend/resume - PAGE_NOT_PRESENT To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/884/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 366780] Re: Please provide a mechanism whereby Wi-Fi networks can be prioritized
There won't ever be user-defined priorities in NM. Does that mean that someone needs to create something else than NM, if NM never will solve the problems users have? That's kind of a sad statement. Please confirm. NM connects to the last network you've connected to that it can find. When you connect, NM timestamps the network, and it will first connect to the most recent network you have chosen. This doesn't solve the problem. One problem: I have two networks, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The 2.4 have better range (of course), but when the 5GHz is available, I want NM to switch to that one. But if it previously connected to the 2.4, it will NEVER switch to 5GHz again. Similar for a wider (public) network that also covers your home. When you're home, you want that network to be picked. But when you leave home and use the public network (eduroam?), NM will never pick your home network again, because it's also covered by the public network. And the public network now have a better timestamp. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366780 Title: Please provide a mechanism whereby Wi-Fi networks can be prioritized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/366780/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1246364] Re: update-notifier does not show a tray icon in xubuntu 13.10
This affects me on Fluxbox. I unset the auto_launch option a long time ago, because I find the popups extremely intrusive and annoying (but I do still find it useful to get a more subtle notification in the tray). I think the volume of online HOWTOs explaining how to disable this behaviour (sometimes through extreme measures like disabling update notifications altogether or uninstalling the package) is a testament to its unpopularity. [Bug 1277833] [NEW] NO fluent window resizing
Public bug reported: Hi, I have noticed that on the regular Ubuntu versions 13.04, 13.10 and the coming 14.04 LTS there is a problem with resizing windows: In fact, if you resize, for example, a Firefox window the window's content is not resized at the same time as you move the window borders. This is astonishing as this works perfectly with Ubuntu Gnome and is a major handicap if you want to program Responsive Web Design where you have to discover the design break points. With Ubuntu it is not possible to do this work. :-( Hope you can solve this problem. You are doing a wonderful job ! [Bug 1014992] Re: Ubuntu 12.04, i386, cannot use rfcomm as regular user. Permission denied.
Hello Christopher I've done some tests to find the first time this bug occur. I started the PC with different Ubuntu live CDs (every CD was a i386, desktop image). The last working distribution was 8.10 (Intrepid). The first time this bug appears was in the next version 9.04 (Jaunty). I've done this tests on several machines. The behaviour was the same on all machines so I think it's not hardware dependent. To make further tests I installed a *fresh* :-) Ubuntu 8.10 on a PC at my home. After the fresh install I've done sudo usermod -a -G dialout sysadmin and relogin. Then I tested it again: sysadmin@ritsch:~$ uname -a Linux ritsch 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux sysadmin@ritsch:~$ hcitool scan Scanning ... 00:12:6F:08:98:FF GEO LE-71 1 sysadmin@ritsch:~$ rfcomm connect 1 00:12:6F:08:98:FF--- On first time I was asked for the pin code here Connected /dev/rfcomm1 to 00:12:6F:08:98:FF on channel 1 Press CTRL-C for hangup --- Everything OK with vanilla 8.10 Ubuntu In the next step I changed the apt package source in /etc/apt/sources.list (old-releases.ubuntu.com) and update the system to the latest available version for 8.10 and reboot. Then I repeat the test from above. The kernel version changed ... sysadmin@ritsch:~$ uname -a Linux ritsch 2.6.27-17-generic #1 SMP Fri Mar 12 03:09:00 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux ... but the bug is not there and everything works fine. --- Everything OK with 8.10 Ubuntu with kernel 2.6.27-17 Now I decided to try to update the kernel to the same version as in the not working 9.04 ubuntu. The kernel version on my 9.04 CD is: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ uname -a Linux ubuntu 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux The first try was to install the .deb packages from 9.04 on 8.10, but that don't work because some versions mismatch (wrong libc6-version ...). So I download the file linux-source-2.6.28_2.6.28-11.42_all.deb from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/i386/linux-source-2.6.28/2.6.28-11.42 and try to install it on the 8.10 ubuntu. To build the new kernel I installed all essential build tools, login as root and done the following steps: cd tar xjf linux-source-2.6.28.tar.bz2 cd linux-source-2.6.28 make mrproper cp /boot/config-2.6.27-17-generic .config make oldconfig I answered all new questions with simply hit enter to use the default values make clean make deb-pkg ... some hours later ... sudo dpkg -i linux-2.6.28.9_2.6.28.9-1_i386.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-firmware-image_2.6.28.9-1_all.deb sudo update-initramfs -u -k 2.6.28.9 sudo update-grup The I reboot the PC and do the test again ... sysadmin@ritsch:~$ uname -a Linux ritsch 2.6.28.9 #1 SMP Fri Feb 7 00:16:26 CET 2014 i686 GNU/Linux The bug was not there! --- Everything OK with 8.10 Ubuntu with kernel 2.6.28.9 I was a little bit confused, that the kernel version is 2.6.28.9. I expected 2.6.28.11 because the package name was linux-source-2.6.28_2.6.28-11.42_all.deb ??? I'm not sure if this problem is only a kernel problem. Perhaps there are some other things (hotplug, udev ...) which cause this bug ? Please can you give me some hints hot to make further tests.
