Bareos can be used as a drop in replacement of Bacula.

[Bug 1280149] Re: Add Bacula fork Bareos to repository

2014-02-14 Thread Kern Sibbald
Although it is true that the Bacula git repo has not been updated for some time,
there is a good reason, for more information, please see:

  http://www.bacula.org - News

There is indeed a fork of Bacula, but that fork has only *one* former Bacula
developer. Although, like other open source projects, developers come and
go, I have been contacted by a number of former and current Bacula
developers and they all remain with Bacula. I would appreciate it if
people who make incorrect statements such as Most of the
devlopers [sic] switched to the Bareos would take the time to investigate
or simply look at the Bacula website before making such comments.

You should realize that the Bareos fork has some serious problems,
including copyright violations and alleged theft of proprietary code, so
though anyone is free to download and use the Bareos release, you
you will be downloading code that may contain code that Bareos
has no right to release.

On the other hand, Bacula's copyright is held by the Free Software
Foundation, Europe, and I can assure you that all code in Bacula is
used by written permission. Bacula has been under development
for 14 years now and will continue so in the future at a pace that
is faster than any fork that is created by one person in secret
over a 3 year period.

There will be another release of Bacula in the March-April time frame,
which will have a lot of new features, many planned well before the
fork. If you are the interested in the saga of the Bareos
fork, please see the new Bacula website (under development) at:

   http://blog.bacula.org

2014-02-14 Thread James Page
@ubuntu-sru

I've uploaded a new source package - openvswitch-lts-saucy - to saucy-
proposed

Please can this be reviewed and accepted so we can unbreak openvswitch
with this kernel

Thanks

[Bug 1280044] Re: Large File Support Regression

2014-02-14 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Confirmed. Though after further investigation, I disagree with your
conclusion. I found that getconf LFS_CFLAGS is correct, but a future
include /usr/share/dpkg/buildflags.mk wipes out the changes that the
previous call made.

I believe that this issue also affects Debian, so have filed a bug
there: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=738984

Thanks for taking care of this. I can confirm that this is also a Debian
issue (in what is to be become Debian Jessie), but Debian Wheezy does
not seem to be affected.

[Bug 1280149] Re: Add Bacula fork Bareos to repository

2014-02-14 Thread Robie Basak
Since this is a request to package a new upstream source, this bug
should be against Ubuntu generally, not against the existing bacula
package in Ubuntu.

I am triaging this bug from a neutral perspective. However, anybody
working on this in Ubuntu should note that that Bacula Systems SA
alleges that this upstream source (Bareos) contains non-free software
with no appropriate licence and claims that a lawsuit was filed in
December 2013 to resolve the matter. Source:

  Distibution version: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
- Kernel: 3.5.0-41-generic #64~lp1241764v201312091434 SMP Mon Dec 9 20:35:04

+ Kernel: 3.5.0-41-generic #64 SMP Mon Dec 9 20:35:04 UTC 2013 x86_64
  Libvirt: libvirt_1.1.1-0ubuntu8.2~cloud1 from cloud repository.
  Qemu-kvm: qemu-kvm_1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.12 [qemu 1.5 not yet tested]
  libnl: libnl-3-200_3.2.3-2ubuntu2
  Platform: HP ProLiant SL390s G7 x86_64; 2 socket x 6 cores/socket x 2
HT/core; 96GB

  How to reproduce:

  1. Define a number of test domains. E.g., test-nn, nn from 01 .. NN. I
  use 32

Test domains have 4 vcpu, 8G memory, running an Ubuntu 11.04 image.
Network is libvirt default virtual network. Domain mac addresses based
on test number nn and dhcp serves fixed IP addresses based on mac
  address.

  2. In a loop:

2a. start the NN domains serially -- waiting for the virsh start command to
complete before starting next domain.
2b. sleep 20sec -- give domains some time to boot. Test doesn't check that
domains have completed booting.
2c. destroy the NN domains in parallel -- with virsh destroy test-$nn
  2d. sleep 15secs.

sleep times are more or less arbitrary. Next pass of starts does
usually begin before previous pass of destroys completes, but I've never
seen it say that domain name already running or such.

What I expected to happen: start-destroy loop runs indefinitely without
  error.

What happened instead: Eventually, I start seeing errors like:

error: Failed to destroy domain lnvtest-31
error: End of file while reading data: Input/output error
error: One or more references were leaked after disconnect from the hypervisor

  and

error: failed to get domain 'lnvtest-12'
error: Domain not found: no domain with matching name 'lnvtest-12'

Checking the libvirt debug log, I see that libvirtd restarted during
this iteration, dumping its internal log buffer in the process.

[Bug 1280370] [NEW] high latency between VMs in openstack using OVS

2014-02-14 Thread Chris J Arges
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:
[Impact]
* There is high latency when testing latency between VMs in an Openstack
environment.
* This affects OVS in P/Q.

[Test Case]
* Setup Openstack.
* On a compute node create at least 15 tenants and add 50 instances (more
instances show larger latencies).
* From the Neutron node ping to a particular instance:
ip netns exec qrouter-uuid ping -c 1 instance ip
* We expect this latency to be similar to the latency from not using OVS.

[Regression Potential]
* The following patch from upstream OVS solves the issue:
c37d4da4f0fd0190ea8fef97399df6d27ebf6ee2.
* It requires 755be9ea9d7250edd37e1056362e08a7436f6983 to be backported as well
since the 1.4.6 still uses sysfs to get carrier info
(/sys/class/net/%s/carrier) instead of ioctl. Once we are using ioctls the
second patch c37d4da4f0fd0190ea8fef97399df6d27ebf6ee2 reduces the number of
times the ioctl is called from netdev_get_carrier().
* There has been testing already done with these two patches applied on top of
1.4.6 in precise.

[Bug 1068405] Re: catalina.properties use hard references to /var/lib/tomcat7/

2014-02-14 Thread Edward Glowacki
The fix for this from Debian has broken the class loader.

Per this bug report, /var/lib/tomcat7 should be replaced with
${catalina.base}, however it appears that when they fixed it they used
${catalina.home} instead. This affects all 3 loaders (common, server,
shared) as defined in /etc/tomcat7/catalina.properties.

As a result, placing files in /var/lib/tomcat7/common (or .../server or
.../shared or any of their classes/ subfolders) will no longer result in
them being loaded by tomcat.

Broken for Ubuntu 13.10 with tomcat7 7.0.42-1.

[Bug 1279999] Re: ssh login no longer works over vpn

2014-02-14 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I think it's entirely reasonable to change the ssh client to default to
a more secure set of ciphers and MACs in newer releases, in order to
make ssh connections more secure generally, and without information to
the contrary it seems likely that this is what has happened in your
case. Before we can evaluate whether this issue is a bug or not, I think
it's necessary to understand what specifics ciphers and/or MACs we are
talking about here.

Please could you identify the minimal set of specifically what ciphers
and MACs you had to enable to ssh to your server? Once done, please
change the bug status back to New.

This bug was fixed in the package cloud-init - 0.7.5~bzr950-0ubuntu1

---
cloud-init (0.7.5~bzr950-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=medium

  * New upstream snapshot.
* support for vendor-data in NoCloud
* fix in is_ipv4 to accept IP addresses with a '0' in them.
* Azure: fix issue when stale data in /var/lib/waagent (LP: #1269626)
* skip config_modules that declare themselves only verified on a set of
distros. Add them to 'unverified_modules' list to run anyway.
* Add CloudSigma datasource [Kiril Vladimiroff]
* Add initial support for Gentoo and Arch distributions [Nate House]
* Add GCE datasource [Vaidas Jablonskis]
* Add native Openstack datasource which reads openstack metadata
rather than relying on EC2 data in openstack metadata service.

[Bug 1280496] [NEW] ed25519 host key not working on 6.5p1

2014-02-14 Thread cc
Public bug reported:

So I decided to test out the new ed25519 support on the new release of
OpenSSH. I generated the necessary keys, added the HostKey line in
sshd_config and restarted.

It does not appear to work and could be missing a compile flag
somewhere.

Long story short, I can generate the appropriate keys but trying to
actually use it results in openssh offering ecdsa keys instead.

[Bug 1279176] Re: IPv6 fails when interface type='direct', on top of OVS

2014-02-14 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for submitting this bug.

It appears to me that 'interface type='direct'' works only for macvlan
devices. This would require you to use a real physical NIC, as in:

   interface type='direct'
  source dev='eth0' mode='vepa'/

For instance see http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html.

So if there is a bug it would seem to me to be in virt-manager, not
libvirt. I'm not sure virt-manager has been taught about ovs at all so
this would be more of a missing feature than a bug.

I'll mark thsi bug as affecting virt-manager, and mark it as a feature
request ('confirmed/wishlist').

Could you please give some more details about the precise options you
chose when creating the VM in virt-manager?

[Bug 1240400] Re: dialer-app crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()

2014-02-14 Thread Andreas Pokorny
A fix for that bug would hide the issue here, but we should not crash in
that case.

When the incoming call is accepted another session is created for
another dialer-app which for some reason is not launched. The final
crash happens in unity-mir ApplicationManager::suspendApplication
application_manager.cpp:226 (initiated by the user switching
applications or going back to phone shell/launcher) when it tries to
defocus and suspend the session.

I now try to investigate why the application session is invalid.

I can confirm this issue. I'm also running ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit. I am
experiencing the same issue with the Oracle Secure Desktop mentioned.
Using Firefox (version 27) and the IcedTea plugin for running applets.

When logging in to the secure deskopt, the external desktop is displayed
however the mouse/keyboard focus is never moved to the desktop window.
At first I had the problem that the window displaying the external
desktop was shown outside the actual dimensions of the active
workspace. My guess was that mouse/keyboard issue was related to the
incorrect display. I checked the Oracle support site for this. Oracle
recommended adding the legacy support for full screen display using the
compiz configuration manager. This solved the display issue by swapping
the window with the remote desktop to full screen.

However the mouse/keyboard is still not responding. Clicking and
swithing back/forward between other applications does not resolve the
issue.

[Bug 1279762] Re: upgrade to 14.04 from 13.10 failed - cinnamon fails to upgrade

2014-02-14 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
For the record, you can find why it fails on cinnamon from the log file
/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log

At the end you'll see apt tries to find an upgrade path for libclutter and
libcogl and fails

[Bug 1280141] [NEW] Latest chromium upgrade have broken pepperflashplugin detection

2014-02-14 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

With that i386 Trusty installation, i was happily using pepperflashplugin as
the unique flash installed package.
But after i've upgraded to '32' a few days back (main trusty package), flash
was no more detected (or pepper not compatible ?). Reinstalling it did not do
better. So i've needed to install back the 'flashplugin-installer' package to
be able to view flash streaming.

So, Boost 1.55 on amd64 does have errors. However, less than on PPC/64. And no
test running in an infinite loop, though there are several on PPC/64.

[Bug 319146] Re: When a release reaches End-of-Life, update manager should show EoL status and provide a link with working procedures and more information.

2014-02-14 Thread ifireball
I just encountered another instance of this bug - I got notified a few days ago
that my releases (12.4) is EOLed, ant was offered to upgrade, since I couldn't
attent the upgrade at that time, I chose to upgrade later and closed the update
manager window.
Now that I'm trying to upgrade I get an Upgrade the 12.10 release that
essentially does nothing. Furtunately I know how to upgrade from the command
line, so I'm only annoyed. but If I was a novice user I would be compleatly
stuck.

[Bug 1280147] [NEW] As an occasional synaptic user I want the Find dialog to default to Look in: Description and Name at program start, to be able to find a package I look for without irritation.

2014-02-14 Thread Karsten W. Rohrbach
Public bug reported:

Not a bug, but usability.

Most of the time I use apt-get for package management.
Sometimes I use synaptic, especially when looking for packages, optional
installs, desccriptions, screenshots, etc.
I use the find dialog (Ctrl-F) very often.

The find dialog saves the last used value of Look in: between sessions.
This is an annoyance, causing irritation very often.
It would be much more usable if the Look in: field would be initialized to
Description and Name once, at program start.

** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

- As an occasional synaptic user I want the Find dialog to default to Look
in: Description and Name, to be less irritated when looking for packages and
apparently not finding them, then seeing that the dialog was set to look in:
Provided Packages last time I used the program.
+ As an occasional synaptic user I want the Find dialog to default to Look
in: Description and Name, to be able to find a package I look for without
irritation.

Okay, way to reproduce:

Ubuntu Precise x64.
Install Radio Tray.
Install Notifications Indicator (package indicator-notifications from
ppa:jconti/recent-notifications).

Start listening to some radio, that updates track info for every tune
played. See how indicator-applet-complete memory usage grows over time.

Bareos is a 100% open source fork of the backup project from bacula.org.
The fork is in development since late 2010, it has a lot of new
features. The source has been published on github, licensed AGPLv3.

Bareos can be used as a drop in replacement of Bacula.

[Bug 1229591] Re: 8086:0116 [Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z)] Display brightness keys don't generate evdev events after saucy upgrade

2014-02-14 Thread madvinegar
Hi. Thanx for your reply.
Since I have exactly the same laptop with the same GPU (id 8086:0116) would it
be better just to keep updating this bug report and provide additional info?
(rather than opening a new bug report?)
I could provide additional info by running:

apport-collect -p linux #1229591

For your info I am using for the moment the ubuntu repository kernel 3.13.0-8.
Please let me know if you agree.
