[Bug 1281256] [NEW] Shutdown / Restart dialogue must correspond indicator selection

2014-02-17 Thread Pekorius Nedas
Public bug reported:

When user selects reboot from top left power indicator confirmation dialogue
appears but Shut down is always highlighted and default option. In my opinion
when user selects reboot the reboot option must be highlighted so it would be
much easier to confirm selection by pressing Enter key that to move mouse to
select not Shut down but Restart and clicking on It
This would be much better user experience and could save some time

[Bug 1281260] [NEW] Appearance settings missing after latest dist-upgrade

2014-02-17 Thread Nathaniel W. Turner
Public bug reported:

After doing a dist-upgrade today and rebooting, most appearance-related
settings are not applied. (Wrong, aliased fonts; wrong theme, missing
keybindings...). If I run gnome-settings-daemon from a Terminal, it
starts without error and my settings are corrected. Did some recent
change remove gnome-settings-daemon from the Ubuntu session definition
or something?

Sorry, not sure which package this report really belongs to...

Daniel, thanks for the remainder, which I only discovered now. I forgot
about finishing off the release. I am waiting for it to be accepted now.
But note that 5.26 is not much different from 5.23, since most upstream
changes concerned the iOS port.

[Bug 1281213] Re: Ubuntu goes into standby mode instead of powering off

2014-02-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1281213/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1281233] Re: Failed to upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-02-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks

[Bug 480671]

2014-02-17 Thread Karl Fogel
A. Craig West's logic is spot-on. Whether or not the browser-side user
approves of case-sensitive usernames, that user doesn't control whether
*the site they're visiting* deals in case-sensitive usernames. The
browser needs to be able to handle those sites too. Otherwise it's like
saying because we're philosophically opposed to spammy pop-up windows,
therefore we won't have features to deal with sites that launch them.

[Bug 1281286] [NEW] ruby-arel = 4 breaks ruby-activerecord-3.2

2014-02-17 Thread phobie
Public bug reported:

This bug results into a non-working /usr/bin/rails!

The package of ruby-activerecord-3.2 claims to depend on ruby-arel = 3.0.2~
but the ruby source states ~ 3.0.2
which means =3.0.2 4 in Debian syntax!
See
/usr/share/rubygems-integration/*/specifications/activerecord-3.2.13.gemspec !
Since saucy ruby-arel 4.0 is in Ubuntu but this version is only supported in
rails 4.0.

The best solution might be to offer a new (old) ruby-arel-3.0 package in
parralel on saucy and trusty.
For trusty it might be a good idea to upgrade to rails 4
(ruby-activerecord-4.0).

If that is not possible before the release we need to downgrade ruby-
arel to 3.0!

As a workaround I installed ruby-arel 3.0.2-3 from raring.

[Bug 1281292] [NEW] File::Pid bug with Perl = 5.12

2014-02-17 Thread Denny de la Haye
Public bug reported:

File::Pid has had a bug since at least 2006, RT here:
https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=18960

This bug is fatal since Perl 5.12

As you can see in the comments on RT, there is a simple one-line patch
that fixes the problem. I believe the Ubuntu or Debian package
maintainer used to apply this patch but it seems to have been removed
recently. Could it be re-applied please? :)

Regards,
Denny

It would be probably very benefical to commit all bug fixes from the
latest linux stable for the comedi branch. In order to get this moved to
the normal driver tree loads of tidying up has happend last year which
inevitably has lead to new bugs which we sorted in Jan and are now in
the latest stable kernel.

packages are needed: bundler ruby-coffee-script-source ruby-execjs ruby-
coffee-script ruby-coffee-rails ruby-jquery-rails ruby-rails-3.2 ruby-
sass ruby-sass-rails ruby-sqlite3 ruby-uglifier

Since ruby-activerecord-3.2 seems to have a missing dependency on ruby-sqlite3
we might not need to list it here.
See
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/active_record/connection_adapters/sqlite3_adapter.rb

Where to find the dependencies:
- ruby-jquery-rails
  used by template
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rails/generators/rails/plugin_new/templates/Gemfile
- ruby-rails-3.2, ruby-journey, ruby-sass-rails, ruby-coffee-rails and
ruby-uglifier
  used by template generator
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rails/generators/app_base.rb
- bundler
  used by templates:

/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rails/generators/rails/plugin_new/templates/Rakefile

/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rails/generators/rails/app/templates/config/boot.rb

How to replicate:
remove ruby*
install ruby-railties-3.2
execute rails new /tmp/test1
cd /tmp/test1
execute rails server
rm -rf /tmp/test1

Errors shown by rails new:
/usr/bin/ruby1.9.1: No such file or directory -- /usr/bin/bundle (LoadError)

[Bug 1272624] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] 14.04 Touchpad not as smooth as Win7

2014-02-17 Thread Edward-douse
Scott, if you get chance, also test ElementaryOS. I have just switched
from that to Ubuntu and Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 for testing and my touchpad
(Lenovo Z500) is also quite jerky. Or rather I suppose I would describe
it as a grainy movement. In ElementaryOS it was fine although it is also
jerky in 12.04 which ElementaryOS is based upon.

I'm going to try and find out if the Elementary team adding anything
else to their distro.

Might not help, but if 12.04 is the same..might be worth a shot.

Re: [Pkg-perl-maintainers] [Bug 1281292] [NEW] File::Pid bug with Perl = 5.12

2014-02-17 Thread gregor herrmann
On Mon, 17 Feb 2014 20:53:00 -, Denny de la Haye wrote:

File::Pid has had a bug since at least 2006, RT here:
 https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=18960

This bug is fatal since Perl 5.12

As you can see in the comments on RT, there is a simple one-line patch
that fixes the problem. I believe the Ubuntu or Debian package
maintainer used to apply this patch but it seems to have been removed
recently. Could it be re-applied please? :)

There's exactly one version of this package in all Debian and Ubuntu
suites:

 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | squeeze | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | wheezy | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | jessie | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | sid | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | lucid/universe | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | precise/universe | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | quantal/universe | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | saucy/universe | source, all
 libfile-pid-perl | 1.01-1 | trusty/universe | source, all

I have a hard time imagining that the patch was removed in Ubuntu in
general, and especially without changing the version number :)

(And I'm also surprised we haven't seen a bug report about this in
Debian or Ubuntu earlier ...)

So I'm guessing that the problem is elsewhere, like the patch being
not complete or something.

Do you have a minimal testcase that shows the actual problem?

Cheers,
gregor
