just make a comment to this.

[Bug 1155169] Re: [HP Pavilion dm3-1109tu Entertainment Notebook PC] Brightness Keys not working after restarting system from Windows 7

2014-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
chris, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the
daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested
the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.14-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 1286476] [NEW] Crashes computer when upgrading from libc6 2.18 to libc6 2.19

2014-03-01 Thread Kaf
Public bug reported:

using 14.04 trusty, the aptitude install or remove package tries to
upgrade from libc6 2.18 to libc6 2.19 but when is upgrading, it crashes
the computer (freezes without no mouse, no consoles, nothing). I turn
off power and on to restart the computer. Then i try to run dpkg
--configure -a but it keeps freezing and does not appear to have a
solution on this.

I see you already reported that as bug 1260226, marked that as
confirmed.

Though I think the old-style switching should go away eventually.

[Bug 874535] Re: Volume Slider Jumps, due to rapidly changing hardware jack sense state

2014-03-01 Thread NrNice
Raymond,

I thing you don't know what is my Linux level, I'd say beginner.
So I went in the page you provided then in this page
http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-tools.git;a=summary
and I downloaded the first snapshot (2014-01-05)
The I extracted the file. Now I'd guess I have to install but there is no
readme/install to follow.
There is no configure, make file to run, so I am stuck.

Do you have a how-to? Please let me know.

[Bug 1286002] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_window_has_impl()

2014-03-01 Thread fossfreedom
Rhythmbox itself looks like its having difficulty scanning your music
collection - it is choking around this point

 /home/mjg/media/music/Thee Oh Sees/The Oh Sees_The Intelligence/02
Mincing Around The Frocks.mp3

Please backup the folders ~/.cache/rhythmbox and
~/.local/share/rhythmbox/ and all the contents below these folders - you
can restore these later.

Then delete those folders

Restart Rhythmbox and but dont import your music collection.

Activate Coverart - does rhythmbox crash? Try restarting and confirm if
it crashes or not.

Then repeat - reimport your music collection - does rhythmbox start
correctly after activating coverart ?

[Bug 1286488] [NEW] Installs special EGL implementation breaking, e.g. totem

2014-03-01 Thread Max Bowsher
Public bug reported:

I installed android-tools-adbd, and was surprised when totem stopped
working.

It turns out that libhybris installs its own implementation of the
alternative /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu_EGL.conf at a higher
priority than the one from mesa, but the libhybris one is missing
libraries such as libwayland-egl.so.1

It's clear that there's a complex interaction between packages here. It
would be nice if it didn't lead to things breaking with missing
libraries.

[Bug 874535] Re: Volume Slider Jumps, due to rapidly changing hardware jack sense state

2014-03-01 Thread Raymond
you should email the author since the source and ppa are already the
latest version if you still got the bug

take a look at the early patching

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound.git/tree/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio.txt

Node 0x1b [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x40058f: Stereo Amp-In Amp-Out
Pincap 0x0001373e: IN OUT HP EAPD Detect Trigger
Vref caps: HIZ 50 GRD 80 100
  EAPD 0x2: EAPD
Pin Default 0x02214c20: [Jack] HP Out at Ext Front
Conn = 1/8, Color = Green
DefAssociation = 0x2, Sequence = 0x0

you use need to set bit 8 of the pin default of the headphone to
indicate that this pin complex has no jack detection circuit by early
patching

[pincfg]
0x1b 0x2214d20

the driver create front headphone phantom jack instead of front headphone jack

and won't enable unsolicited event to report the headphone state when
the headphone is plugged/unplugged

The hd-audio driver reads the file via request_firmware(). Thus,
a patch file has to be located on the appropriate firmware path,
typically, /lib/firmware. For example, when you pass the option
`patch=hda-init.fw`, the file /lib/firmware/hda-init.fw must be
present.

The patch module option is specific to each card instance, and you
need to give one file name for each instance, separated by commas.
For example, if you have two cards, one for an on-board analog and one
for an HDMI video board, you may pass patch option like below:

options snd-hda-intel patch=on-board-patch,hdmi-patch

Bonjour à tous,

Broadcom est vraiment décevant sur leur suivi clients! Je dirai que
c'est the big fail secure and client support for broadcom !

[Bug 1286496] [NEW] most Nautilus features inaccessible to HUD since no menu

2014-03-01 Thread Masoud Pourmoosa
Public bug reported:

After GNOME re-design of Nautilus, there is only one menu left in
Nautilus, with some rarely used entries like About, Preferences, etc.
The rest of the features are move to toolbar button/menus. As a results,
many of Nautilus features, like Open a New Tab, Sort by
Name/Type/Date, and Open in Terminal cannot be accessed through HUD.
All of them require mouse clicks or shortcut keys.

My suggestion is to define new menu entries for Nautilus and populate it
with the functionalities that are currently only available via the
toolbar buttons. Menu entries like Files, Edit, View, and Help can do
the job.

 Candidat : 2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1

   3) I expected that the driver :
- set up
- work

   4) It did'nt work :
- Ubuntu was very slow
- Unity fall in Unity-2d mode
- when I taped CTRL+SUPER, desktops appears blue
- fglrx-amdcccle failed
- fans were turning at a high speed
- lots of warning messages as described bellow

   5) Workaround
I had to downgrade manually the driver to the old 8.960, which works
 without problem.
You could do it using Synaptics our using the CLI

I tried to do an apt-get remove fglrx fglrx-amdcccle but apt-get gaves
me fglrx-updates in replacement , with the same issues. I experimented
fglrx-update some months (a year?) ago with similar problems, but at that
time it was a conscient experimentation.
The 13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 could maybe stay in fglrx-updates, and no fglrx ?

[Bug 874535] Re: Volume Slider Jumps, due to rapidly changing hardware jack sense state

2014-03-01 Thread NrNice
Thanks for your answer, Raymond.
However, the only sentence I understand is the first one,
you should email the author since the source and ppa are already the latest
version if you still got the bug

All the rest is over my small head.
I sent a email to the author and I hope he will get a chance to answer.

Meanwhile, if you know some I could do, I'll do it with pleasure but
please explain step by step the same way for a dummy.

Thanks

[Bug 1285958] [NEW] Reccuring Alarm can't be set for sunday

2014-03-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Recurring alarm can be set on Sunday. It works on all other days
properly.

Steps to reproduce the bug:
1. Open the alarms tab
2. Enable the repeat switch to set the alarm type as recurring
3. Choose Sunday and also a couple of other days in the add alarms day dialog
4. Save alarm

What happens:
In the alarm page, it does not not show Sunday. It shows every other day you
may have chosen in the add alarms day dialog.

What should happen:
The alarm page lists all the chosen days of the recurring alarm.

Facts:
Currently the clock app is at rev 362. I branches the clock app at rev 243 to
check if this was caused by any recent commits in the clock app. However this
bug was reproducible even at rev 243. I also repeated the steps in the sample
alarm app provided by the SDK at
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-sdk-team/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/trunk/files/head:/tests/resources/alarm/
and I can see reproduce the alarm indicating that either the SDK or EDS broke
things.

[Bug 1285958] Re: Reccuring Alarm can't be set for sunday

2014-03-01 Thread Nekhelesh Ramananthan
** Project changed: ubuntu-ui-toolkit = qtorganizer5-eds (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: ubuntu-clock-app
Assignee: Zsombor Egri (zsombi) = Renato Araujo Oliveira Filho
(renatofilho)

** Description changed:

Recurring alarm can be set on Sunday. It works on all other days
  properly.

  Steps to reproduce the bug:
  1. Open the alarms tab
  2. Enable the repeat switch to set the alarm type as recurring
  3. Choose Sunday and also a couple of other days in the add alarms day dialog
  4. Save alarm

  What happens:
- In the alarm page, it does not not show Sunday. It shows every other day you
may have chosen in the add alarms day dialog.
+ In the alarm page, it does not not show Sunday.

I also repeated the steps in the sample
alarm app provided by the SDK at
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-sdk-team/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/trunk/files/head:/tests/resources/alarm/
and I can see reproduce the alarm indicating that either the SDK or EDS broke
things.
+
+ Update: On further testing, it has been found that EDS
+ (qtorganizer5-eds) is causing this bug.

[Bug 1286513] [NEW] No indication that the emulator is still starting up

2014-03-01 Thread Stuart Langridge
Public bug reported:

On first run of the (arm) emulator, it takes a very long time to start
up, and while starting up, it shows merely an Ubuntu Edge with a black
screen. The Log tab shows that things are going on, but that eventually
reaches an end point (when it shows a login prompt!) and you have to
continue to wait for the UI to start up. Some sort of indication that
the emulator is working rather than broken would be very useful.

** Affects: phablet-tools (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 874535] Re: Volume Slider Jumps, due to rapidly changing hardware jack sense state

2014-03-01 Thread Raymond
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1248116

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log

the Symptom is the headphone was reported plug and unplugged in the loop
in the pulseaudio verbose log

the exact cause of the problem is not known, you have to enable
tracepoint to find out why unsolicited event was triggered

or the jack detect is inverted

by using hda-verb GET_PIN_SENSE after you disable the unsolicited event
by set the misc bit of headphone or disable jack detect using hint
jack_detect = 0

[Bug 179214]

2014-03-01 Thread Bugs4-kde-org
I also have this problem sometimes using
Akregator Version 4.12.2
Using KDE Development Platform 4.12.2

One thing I notice is that the feed where it's wrongly saved to, is
always the same.

Sometimes Feed A gets saved to Feed X
Sometimes Feed B gets saved to Feed X
Sometimes Feed C gets saved to Feed X

But I haven't noticed that other feeds are being messed up.
