[Bug 1018015] Re: Regression: the update including linux-image-3.2.0-26-generic breaks suspend on Dell m4300
The issue came and went multiple times. I was able to avoid it for several months by running with everything current under funtoo with a 3.10 kernel. [Bug 1157914] [NEW] time never catches up to reality after VM sleep
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I run Ubuntu in a VM, then sleep the VM for a little while, I expect time to eventually catch up to reality, because I have Set the time ... Automatically from the Internet. However, time never does catch up. I can trigger a catch up by toggling the datetime indicator to Manually, wait a little bit, then toggle back to Automatically from the Internet. I may have to do this a couple of times to fix the time. This tells me that it's not a problem with the VM environment specifically, but a problem with coordinating time over the internet. [Bug 1157914] Re: time never catches up to reality after VM sleep
This is first and foremost a QEMU or linux bug (not sure which), it should really update its internal time after suspend. It doesn't in your case? Please note that this is a VMware Fusion VM. ntp is not installed, but if you go to System Settings - Time Date, you will see that Set the time is set to Automatically from the Internet. Shouldn't this be enough to have time catch up after resume from VM suspend? If not, and ntp is actually required (as was the case way back when), then I rather think that the System Setting is misleading. I can handle installing and running ntp, as I used to do, but I think this is a regression (hard for me to remember exactly). [Bug 1289719] [NEW] Wifi Problem HP DV7 After Windows 7 Dual Boot Installation
Public bug reported: Background Info, how the problem came about: I am writing on behalf of a customer/friend who I've wiped Windows 7 in yet another ugly mess that I come across often (Windows in general), backed up user files' and reinstalled with “13.10, Saucy Salamander”. I myself run Gentoo, but it's not for everybody. I will get straight to the point. He wants his Locomotive Train Simulation Games to work. I do not like the idea of him running Windows software under Linux (WINE), and know that can be buggy as well working half-*** or not at all. So what I did is, I took a Linux Live DVD (USB actually) and ran Gparted, resized the only partition (1 Primary, no swap needed with the amount of ram), and made the free space before the Ext4 Partition for Linux, and placed an NTFS Partition that would be /dev/sda1. I am doing everything possible to prevent the Windows installer from doing anything to wipe out Linux. I then went to installing Windows 7. Upon reaching the partitioner, it recognized the newly created NTFS Partition, and I had it install there. Yes, knowingly, it would wipe out the MBR of Grub2 with it's own BS that I later fixed using some Gentoo skills (refer to the Gentoo Handbook if interested). Skip ahead... Windows 7 and Linux are now both dual booting just fine with Grub2. However, a problem exists with Wifi working under Linux. I have a couple of options: 1. Solve the problem myself, reconfigure make menuconfig, patch if necessary, etc. etc., or 2. Make a bug report, so that when updates come in through Ubuntu Repositories, the issue is fixed and remains fixed not only for this customer, but all others that run into the problem and would run into the problem if a bug fix had not been made. Problem in More Detail: Boot Linux to GUI desktop. Automatic connecting to the WPA2 Wireless Network by Network Manager does not happen. Then go into Network Manager's Settings and find out Airplane mode is enabled. It will toggle off. Wireless is toggled off, and refuses to toggle on. Temporary workaround that gets around the issue: Suspend the computer in Linux (did so through the GUI), and wake it from Suspend. Now everything works and behaves as expected, but the problem will persist after a reboot. Troubleshooting: Check dmesg # // /* Attachment of dmesg output below */ sudo passwd root su - mike-HP-Pavilion-dv7-Notebook-PC BugReport # rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: Yes rfkill unblock wifi # Check with list again, same results rfkill unblock all# Same as above rfkill block all rfkill unblock all# Same results still persist halt/poweroff/reboot # Booted back up in no time on this ssd drive, command line again su - dmesg dmesg_before # Suspend work-around mentioned earlier dmesg dmesg_after # Examine with the best editor known to existence, SORRY EMACS FANS! vimdiff dmesg_before dmesg_after # Files are included as attachments Notable info examined: mike-HP-Pavilion-dv7-Notebook-PC BugReport # grep -Ei 'firmware|module|wifi|network[- ]{0,1}manager|wlan0' dmesg_after2 [0.182236] ACPI: Added _OSI(Module Device) [0.185081] ACPI: Executed 1 blocks of module-level executable AML code [1.687218] Initialise module verification [1.786574] [Firmware Bug]: No valid trip found [1.979204] brd: module loaded [1.979735] loop: module loaded [2.049719] Loading module verification certificates [5.726785] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready [ 302.851722] ieee80211 phy0: rt2x00lib_request_firmware: Info - Loading firmware file 'rt2860.bin' [ 302.851737] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 865 at /build/buildd/linux-3.11.0/drivers/base/firmware_class.c:1085 _request_firmware+0x948/0xa60() [ 302.851740] Modules linked in: x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp coretemp kvm crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel aes_x86_64 lrw gf128mul glue_helper ablk_helper cryptd snd_hda_codec_hdmi hp_wmi sparse_keymap snd_hda_codec_idt snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec uvcvideo snd_hwdep videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_memops videobuf2_core videodev snd_pcm snd_page_alloc snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event snd_rawmidi joydev snd_seq microcode arc4 dm_multipath scsi_dh rt2800pci rt2800lib rt2x00pci rt2x00mmio psmouse rt2x00lib serio_raw snd_seq_device mac80211 snd_timer rtsx_pci_ms snd cfg80211 memstick lpc_ich eeprom_93cx6 crc_ccitt mei_me soundcore mei parport_pc ppdev rfcomm bnep bluetooth hp_accel lis3lv02d input_polldev mac_hid binfmt_misc lp parport dm_raid45 xor dm_mirror dm_region_hash dm_log hid_generic rtsx_pci_sdmmc i915 usbhid hid i2c_algo_bit drm_kms_helper ahci drm rtsx_pci r8169 libahci mii wmi video [ 302.851810] CPU: 1 PID: 865 Comm: NetworkManager Not tainted 3.11.0-17-generic #31-Ubuntu [ 302.851852]

[Bug 571229]
I'm running Firefox 27.0.1 on Windows 7 with the US-International keyboard. In full-screen mode, the Menu Bar is permanently hidden rather than auto-hidden, and it is completely nonfunctional. There is no way to display or access it in full-screen mode, whether by moving the pointer to the top of the screen, pressing F10, pressing and releasing the leftAlt key, or pressing a leftAlt keyboard shortcut (e.g., leftAlt+v for the View menu or leftAlt+T for the Tools menu). (The rightAlt key is used for typing special characters in the US- International keyboard.) The only way to regain access to the Menu Bar (and its menus) is to exit full-screen mode. This is a MAJOR inconvenience for me, for two reasons: (1) I am using Tab Mix Plus's multi-row Tab Bar option, which eats up vertical webpage space in regular display mode. Full-screen display mode is very useful in recovering that space. (NOTE: changing the Tab Bar to a single row display in Tab Mix Plus does not eliminate the permanently hidden Menu Bar problem.) (2) I have placed most of my toolbar buttons on the Menu Bar. (I gather that that particular customization may be limited or eliminated in Australis, but I'm planning on restoring it with extensions). I use my toolbar buttons extremely frequently, and having to toggle back and forth between full-screen and regular display modes is not a practical option. For me, this qualifies as a MAJOR bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571229 Title: Menus are not shown when accessed by keys in full screen mode, but they work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/571229/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1276379] Re: fglrx-installer 2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 fails with some legacy devices (Radeon HD 2000 3000 4000)
I suffered from the fglrx SRU in 12.04 too. Being forced to fix the problem I tried the saucy enablement stack (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack). In order for radeon to work properly, fglrx has to be uninstalled. I had to blacklist the vesafb driver, otherwise I'd get a GPU lockup during boot. WARNING: fglrx-8.x is incompatible with the saucy stack! In order to operate fglrx-8.x after experimenting with the saucy enablement stack, one has to downgrade back to the precise stack (kernel+X11+mesa). I was positively surprised by the performance of the open source radeon driver in saucy. 3D unity performance is on par with the fglrx, while things which did not work before (e.g. DVI output on docking station) work now like a charm. I don't do gaming on the laptop, so I can't tell how well the open source radeon driver performs with 3D in general. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1276379 Title: fglrx-installer 2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 fails with some legacy devices (Radeon HD 2000 3000 4000) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1276379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1270844] Re: Marvell 88SE9485 SAS/SATA 6Gb/s controller patch
@Tim: Ben replied around the 18th of Februari that he sent the patch upstream again (for the third time). I would like for this patch to make it to the next LTS version of Ubuntu, do you think there is a chance this will happen? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1270844 Title: Marvell 88SE9485 SAS/SATA 6Gb/s controller patch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1270844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1289746] [NEW] BCM4313 not working with some wireless AP
Public bug reported: 1) lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) Release:14.04 N.B: The same problem existed in 13.10 with this computer about a month ago. 2) From software center: broadcom-sta-source 6.30.223.141-1. 3) What i expected to happen: Once the driver connects to my AP at home, i expect it to forward IP-packets between the AP and my computer. 4) What happened instead: Almost nothing. There is a valid ARP entry for the AP in the ARP cache, but there are no replies from ping. The AP is a DLINK DIR-645. I've got two Android devices of different versions using the AP w/o problems, so the AP is not broken. The driver works with an AP from Huawei. This computer has been able to use the AP w/o problems running 12.04 until abount six months ago, when no longer connect to it. ** Affects: broadcom-sta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1289746 Title: BCM4313 not working with some wireless AP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/broadcom-sta/+bug/1289746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1289748] [NEW] Battery information all zeros (charge level, capacity, design capacity, voltage, all 0)
Public bug reported: The battery level in Xubuntu's panel constantly shows as 0% on this brand-new laptop, with either of the two batteries supplied with the machine. The batteries are holding charge, and an LED on the machine correctly indicates charging/charged (orange/green). On right-click - Power Information - Battery, zeros are shown for Energy full design, Energy full, Energy empty and Voltage. The numerical entries at /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0 are also all 0. Information from ubuntu-bug is hopefully attached; I also attach the output of acpidump. Adding the boot option acpi_osi=Linux (confirmed as appearing in /proc/cmdline) has not helped.
