[Bug 1294284] Re: LXC Ubuntu containers do not start in Ubuntu 14.04
I may have solved the problem after re-installing the server. Before upgrading to 14.04 I made sure to check if Ubuntu Saucy container starts and it did. Then I upgraded to 14.04 and created new Ubuntu Trusty container. Both Saucy and Trusty containers started properly, although both output some errors which I believe is normal. Then I started re-applying all the changes I had made previously before re-install. A problem appeared after I edited fstab to add nodev/noexec/nosuid mount options. I already knew that I couldn't use noexec for /var, but now both Ubuntu containers refused to even try to start if I had nodev and nosuid mount options for /var. Debian Wheezy container does start even with nodev and nosuid mount options. Before re-install I had created symlinks to point from /var/lib/lxc to /srv/lxc and /srv did not have these mount options. This might explain the difference in what happened when I started the containers before and after re-install. So apparently I can't use nodev and nosuid mount options for /var even if I use another partition without these mount options by using symlinks. Meanwhile, Debian containers worked all this time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1294284 Title: LXC Ubuntu containers do not start in Ubuntu 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1294284/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Results about these tweaks: - - the display is usable, but, the displayed font quality is worst than before (it was superb) ; (mesa was also update to 10.2, so maybe related ?) + - the display is usable, but, the displayed font quality is worst than before (it was superb) ; - the lcd display is a 22 1920x1080, but it is found as a 42 1920x1080 by both the kernel and nvidia (nouveau was working fine with the 8500 gt). So i need to downsized now to 1680 to get the menu/topbar/buttons; otherwise they are not seen. To resume: - need nouveau working with nv110 family - need 334.21 driver added to archive ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.10-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-18.38-generic 3.13.6 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-18-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: .proc.driver.nvidia.version: - NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 334.21 Thu Feb 27 15:04:33 PST 2014 - GCC version: gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu 4.8.2-16ubuntu6) + NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 334.21 Thu Feb 27 15:04:33 PST 2014 + GCC version: gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu 4.8.2-16ubuntu6) ApportVersion: 2.13.3-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Wed Mar 19 18:03:50 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: - bbswitch, 0.7, 3.13.0-18-generic, i686: installed - nvidia-334, 334.21, 3.13.0-18-generic, i686: installed - nvidia-334-uvm, 334.21, 3.13.0-18-generic, i686: installed + bbswitch, 0.7, 3.13.0-18-generic, i686: installed + nvidia-334, 334.21, 3.13.0-18-generic, i686: installed + nvidia-334-uvm, 334.21, 3.13.0-18-generic, i686: installed GraphicsCard: - NVIDIA Corporation GM107 [GeForce GTX 750] [10de:1381] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:362e] + NVIDIA Corporation GM107 [GeForce GTX 750] [10de:1381] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:362e] InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-25 (145 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release i386 (20131021.1) Lsusb: - Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub - Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:c50e Logitech, Inc. [Bug 1288572] Re: Nvidia driver does not work in Ubuntu GNOME trusty 14.04 (Optimus laptop)
It is now (as of recently) generated by gpu-manager (which is part of ubuntu-drivers-common). Actually quite a few changes have landed to various components related to nvidia prime since you posted the correct results. I am marking this bug as fix released since I'm fairly confident the gnome-shell issues are resolved. I also believe that gdm will work properly once the case of non-existent display is fixed. If there are further gdm issues after that please follow up that issue on Bug 1262068. Please file a new bug for the non-existent display issue with xrandr outputs and Xorg logs, hopefully the Ubuntu devs will have more of an idea to figure that out! ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1288572 Title: Nvidia driver does not work in Ubuntu GNOME trusty 14.04 (Optimus laptop) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1288572/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1294580] Re: indicator-datetime-service panel clock freezes
Judging from that backtrace it's blocking in e_dbus_calendar_call_get_timezone_sync(), which is being called from e_cal_client_get_timezone_sync(), which in turn is being called from generate_instances() after being called asynchronously from indicator- datetime via a call to e_cal_client_generate_instances(). indicator-datetime is already invoking this as an asynchronous function, so you could argue that this is a lesser bug in EDS -- it shouldn't block. Even then, though, I don't understand why its call of e_cal_client_get_timezone_sync() would take a couple of *seconds*. Kees, do you have any interesting configuration settings in Evolution / EDS that might account for such a lag? Do you have a lot of calendar sources, remotely-connected/mounted sources, an unusual number of appointments, etc etc? ** Changed in: indicator-datetime (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1294580 Title: indicator-datetime-service panel clock freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-datetime/+bug/1294580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1295987] [NEW] openjdk6 regression causes finalizers never to be called
Public bug reported: Upgrading openjdk6 from 6b27-1.12.6-1ubuntu0.12.04.4 to 6b30-1.13.1-1ubuntu2~0.12.04.1 (Precise update in Jan / Feb 2014) causes finalizers not to run reliably. Whilst it is good practice to avoid use of finalizers, JDBC uses them to close connections, sockets use them to close sockets etc., and after this upgrade both of them leak apparently randomly under moderate load. This is difficult to replicate but we believe it is due to: https://java.net/jira/browse/OPENJDK6-29 which was introduced in b28. The critical sentences here are: This can cause mayhem in the JVM because the flag fields at the end of the struct end up taking values determined by the contents of the stack frame where info is allocated. In particular, it can cause the post-jdk6-b28 GC to enqueue discovered References using the wrong link field which means that no reference processing (including finalization) occurs. This is fixed in b31, and the fix is a one line obviously correct change: http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk6/jdk6/jdk/rev/04e4c3ec6516 which correctly memset's a structure to zero, as opposed to only setting the first 8 bytes (64 bit) or 4 bytes (32 bit) to zero. As this is a clear regression caused by an update with a substantial impact (unresolvable memory leaks of objects with finalizers, other resource leaks including FD leaks), I think this is an SRU candidate for Precise (which is where we are seeing it). ** Affects: openjdk-6 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295987 Title: openjdk6 regression causes finalizers never to be called To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-6/+bug/1295987/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1175601] Re: Two Chromium background instances and a browser window open on boot without my permission
Thanks for your quick reply. The session manager always tries to restore a previously saved session (~/.cache/sessions/). According to the dozens of reports and forum threads, this seems to happen regardless of the setting to automatically save the session on logout. Only deleting the cache manually resolves this problem for most users. [Bug 1295900] Re: lubuntu screen corruption only on cold boot.
** Description changed: steps: 1) cold boot (power on) 2) choose boot (grub) 3) login (lightdm) When logging in, the login rectangle doesn't disappear like it should. 4) Xorg starts Desktop appears but the outline of the login-rectangle is still there. Also everything else that is drawn on the screen stays drawn (i.e. closed windows are still visable, a moved window leaves a trail) as if the system forgets to erase previously drawn objects. Strangely enough, the mousepointer doesn't seem to be affected. - 5) logout (to lightdm) - or: sudo restart lightdm - or: sudo killall -SIGTERM Xorg - or: sudo reboot + 5) sudo restart lightdm 6) login again Everything is suddenly working as it should ( high order magic ?? ) I have had this problem before with kernels newer than 3.13.0-8 but a kernel header install followed by a kernel image reinstall would always fix it. Since kernel 3.13.0-18 this fix doesn't work anymore.
