[Bug 1309389] [NEW] package sa-compile prevented clean upgrade from ubunu 13.10 to 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread Marco Meyerhofer
Public bug reported:

I upgraded my ubuntu desktop installation from ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04.
The update gave a error about sa-compile. Still the upgraded system seems to
work.
The debug information attached are from an additional apt-get dist-upgrade I
have run after a reboot.
Looks like the sa-compile just needs very long to finish.

[Bug 1242376] Re: reload php5-fpm crashes

2014-04-18 Thread Renan Gonçalves
The package 5.5.9+dfsg-1ubuntu3 have the correct upstart script with
reload signal USR2, which works great on Ubuntu Trusty since it uses
upstart = 1.10.0

For fixing the https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1272788 bug
a new package was released, called 5.5.9+dfsg-1ubuntu4, which comments out
reload signal USR2.
Making it work on Precise but breaking on Trusty.

Installing a new Ubuntu machine with the latest version and latest PHP should
be the priority to work out of the box. No adjustments should be needed.
If anyone wants to use Precise with the latest PHP version, adjustments to the
upstart script are okay.

Hence, IMO this fix should be reversed.

[Bug 1309594] [NEW] kernel-libipsec not loading

2014-04-18 Thread Tony Zhou
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and installed Strongswan 5.1.2 with strongswan-
plugin-kernel-libipsec. The problem is that the plugin kernel-libipsec
is not loading even if /etc/strongswan.d/charon/kernel-libipsec.conf has
the option load = yes been set. Also in syslog it seems that
strongswan is not even looking for that plugin.

Here's the log:

[Bug 1295072] Re: qemu 1.7 should build-depend on libfdt-dev higher than 1.4.0

2014-04-18 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Ballock, or anyone else affected,

Accepted device-tree-compiler into precise-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/device-tree-compiler/1.3.0-2ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Refer to

for the fix.

I'll check if the other versions of nginx not listed here are affected

[Bug 1309761] [NEW] MAAS installing older 14.04 image instead of newer one

2014-04-18 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

I have a NUC with the current version of 14.04 and MAAS installed on it.

Today, I completely removed the contents of boot-resources and re-
imported the various boot/image files to remove old daily images and
older versions I didn't need.

If you look at the current image streams dir at maas-images.ubuntu.com,
you'll see that there are actually two image versions for trusty:

Index of /images/ephemeral-v2/releases/trusty/amd64

NameLast modified SizeDescription
Parent Directory -
20140410/ 10-Apr-2014 22:22-
20140416.1/ 17-Apr-2014 18:22-
di/ 17-Apr-2014 18:22-

The older 0410 image is the RC image and the newer 0416.1 image is the
release version of 14.04.

Because of this, the current snapshot has both images available:
ubuntu@critical-maas:/var/lib/maas/boot-resources/current/amd64/generic/trusty$
ls -l *
rc:
total 1812444
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 24654011 Apr 18 12:57 boot-initrd
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root5774304 Apr 18 12:57 boot-kernel
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 21256334 Apr 18 12:58 di-initrd
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root5776216 Apr 18 12:57 di-kernel
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 1476395008 Apr 18 12:56 root-image
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 322069555 Apr 18 12:57 root-tgz

release:
total 1812428
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 24663072 Apr 18 12:50 boot-initrd
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root5777056 Apr 18 12:49 boot-kernel
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 21256771 Apr 18 12:50 di-initrd
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root5778968 Apr 18 12:50 di-kernel
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 1476395008 Apr 18 12:49 root-image
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 322042698 Apr 18 12:49 root-tgz

And MAAS shows both the RC and Release images available as bootable for
Trusty (**See attached screen shot**)

However, in the MAAS ui, the ONLY option for setting the installation
image is Trusty there is no setting for choosing between RC and
Release images for Trusty.

And MAAS is choosing to install the older version when booting.

I noticed quickly during boot that my node is getting the rc image via
iscsi... but have no way of capturing that other than maybe a crappy
cell phone image..., so the following will have to suffice:

Installing using the fast path, MAAS is choosing the older 0410 RC
images over the 0416.1 Release images, and we get a system installed
with the Development version of Trusty instead, as bore out by the
kernel version and /etc/lsb-release. Here's some data from a node
installed via FastPath:

ubuntu@supermicro:~$ uname -a
Linux supermicro 3.13.0-23-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 4 06:58:38 UTC 2014
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
ubuntu@supermicro:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)

This is immediately following a fast-path install of Trusty.

I'm now trying to do a d-i install, which worked before I deleted and
re-imported but that is now failing with the No kernel modules found
message and looking at alternate consoles, that too appears to be the
3.13.0-23 boot image, not the 3.13.0-24 image... so that could be the
issue there... not sure though.

[Bug 1309761] Re: MAAS installing older 14.04 image instead of newer one

2014-04-18 Thread Jeff Lane
I went through and deleted the rc directory from *current, and also
deleted the individual images themselves (had to compare inode numbers
in rc/ to the images in cache and deleted the images individually by
inode.

Then I did an install and it installed the correct image by default:

[Bug 1309761] Re: MAAS installing older 14.04 image instead of newer one

2014-04-18 Thread Jeff Lane
So it would seem to confirm that MAAS is choosing the older 20140410
images over the 20140416.1 images when installing.

This is my bootresources.yaml: (The only changes I made were commenting
out older versions I didn't want to pull down)

ubuntu@critical-maas:/var/lib/maas/boot-resources$ cat
/etc/maas/bootresources.yaml
##
## Boot image download configuration.
##
#
# Items in this configuration:
#
# boot - the root for these settings.
#
# storage - location on the filesystem where boot images are stored.
#
# These images can get quite large: some files are hundreds of megabytes,
# and you may need multiple copies for different architectures, OS releases,
# etc.
#
# sources - one or more sources of downloadable boot images.
#
# Each source downloads from one simplestreams URL, though it is possible to
# have multiple sources using the same URL.
#
# path - for each source, the path to its (online) Simplestreams data.
#
# keyring - for each source, a GPG keyring to verify images' signatures.
#
# selections - for each source, one or more sets of constraints for images.
#
# From each source, only those images are imported which match at least one of
# the source's selections. A selection can specify an OS release, a CPU
# architecture, and so on.
#
# Be careful: the items in a selection will multiply. For example if you
# specify architectures i386 and amd64, and subarchitectures generic,
# hwe-s, and hwe-t, the import script will need to import 6 images, for
# each possible combination. If you only want some of those combinations,
# keep them as separate sources and/or selections.

[Bug 1304167] Missing SRU information

2014-04-18 Thread Brian Murray
Thanks for uploading the fix for this bug report to -proposed. However,
when reviewing the package in -proposed and the details of this bug
report I noticed that the bug description is missing information
required for the SRU process. You can find full details at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure but essentially
this bug is missing some of the following: a statement of impact, a test
case and details regarding the regression potential. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1309796] [NEW] wrong default augeas lenses path

2014-04-18 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

the augeas resource does not work with current puppet and complains
„loading failed”

It works when the additional parameter

load_path = /usr/share/augeas/lenses/dist,

is given, but such details should usually be kept out of puppet
manifests for default lenses.

Reason:

It tries to find lenses under the path

/var/lib/puppet/lib/augeas/lenses

while unter ubuntu 14.04 the augeas lenses are located under

/usr/share/augeas/lenses/dist

The problem is in /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/puppet/provider/augeas/augeas.rb:

if Puppet::FileSystem::File.exist?(#{Puppet[:libdir]}/augeas/lenses)

There is no log file there for cgroup-lite (although there are plenty of
other logs in the /var/log/upstart directory). I did manage to clear the
matter up by going into synaptic and doing a reinstall, but I wouldn't
expect that to delete old log files.

[Bug 1309810] Re: package cgroup-lite 1.9 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100

2014-04-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
I'm marking this as also affecting upstart, though I suspect it's a
packaging issue in cgroup-lite somehow. But hopefully James can figure
out what cgroup-lite is doing wrong.

[Bug 1309810] Re: package cgroup-lite 1.9 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100

2014-04-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
The most interesting part of the apttermlog is:

initctl: Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket
/com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused
invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/cgroup-lite not found.

It appears as though upstart was not running while cgroup was trying to
start.

[Bug 1309349] [NEW] Netboot install from USB media attempts to install grub on /dev/sda (USB media) instead of actual boot partition

2014-04-18 Thread ninja500
Public bug reported:

I did a USB command line install using the Trusty Tahr 14.04 LTS (AMD64)
netboot image located here:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/installer-
amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso

15-Apr-2014 21:5337M

I have 6 hard drives in this machine, I'm detail the first two device
blocks:

/dev/sda (usb installation media with mini.iso image - used unetbootin)
/dev/sdb - my main hard drive with 4 partitions
/dev/sdb1 - /boot
/dev/sdb2 - /
/dev/sdb3 - /swap
/dev/sdb4 - /home

Towards the end of the install, the installer asks whether or not
install GRUB on MBR, identifying only one operating system present. I
chose YES, and it installed GRUB on /dev/sda which is my usb
installation media. Afterwards, it completed the install, but when the
system rebooted, it of course was missing the boot loader from the real
boot partition. So it would drop into grub rescue. It showed error
message - error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found.

I rebooted off the same usb installation media, but choosing recovery
mode. I dropped into a shell and attempted to run grub-install, but i
got an error message about ext2 and requiring block lists and grub
refused to install.

So to get around this, I re-installed again off the usb media. But this
time I pulled my media out when it got to the step where it asks if I
want to install grub. I chose yes, let it fail when it tried to put it
on /dev/sda again. Then when it bumped me back to the menu where it
lists your options. I chose to install grub on a hard drive. This time
it correctly found my boot partition on /dev/sdb. And the install
completed without issue.

[Bug 1309350] Re: I can't upgrade 13.04 to 13.10

2014-04-18 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages.

[Bug 1309358] [NEW] upgrade fail 13.10 - 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread Springnuts
Public bug reported:

I updated 13.10 fully and then rebooted.

I then launched the software updater.

On launching updater I am offered upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04.

The release tool starts successfully.

I receive a warning message: Third party sources disabled. Some third
party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can re-enable them
after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or your package
manager. I clicked the Close button.

The release tool then began fetching files.

Before this is complete the upgrader stops with the following failure
message: An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu *
Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software
packages not provided by Ubuntu.

I am running the released version of 13.10.
I am not upgrading to a pre-release version of 14.04 - at least not knowingly.
I don't think I have any unofficial software packages (but how would I find
out?).

I consider this a bug as the upgrader does not provide any way forward
(such as identifying how to tell what the problem is; or even offering
to solve it).

Regards

Springnuts.

[Bug 1309361] [NEW] Kubuntu upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 failed: could not calculate the upgrade

Unfortunately there is not much information provided by the updater. This is
what I can see on the screen:

Preparing to upgrade
Setting new software channels - failed
Progress bar showing 99%

I'm running Lenovo Thinkpad E530 with 64-bit system. There are some additional
packages installed on my system, both from additionals PPA and stand-alone,
the most significant I can think of are Darktable and Lotus Notes.
Upgrading my other laptop few days ago went well.

It also happened to me. Don't worry since it can be resolved by removing

won't be needed since you are using Gnome 3.

I attached a screenshot of the result after appmenu-qt and appmenu-qt5

[Bug 721416] Re: Rhythmbox does not show album art

2014-04-18 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 1309365] [NEW] No Boot Animation

2014-04-18 Thread Rubal Walia
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Ubuntu 13.10 to Ubuntu 14.04. I have AMD 6850 GPU with
two monitors, one 17 and another 20. I am using fglrx drivers for my
GPU. After upgrading, instead od boot animation I get black screen with
around one centimeter pink borders(the default color of Ubuntu). After
some time boot animation comes with all dots filled and login screen
appears.

It seems like boot animation don't show up and comes in the end. If you
need more details contact me at walia.ru...@gmail.com. I'll love to help
to fix this bug ASAP.

[Bug 1307322] Re: No WiFi detected

2014-04-18 Thread Elbarbudo
Very strange :

I wiped out Ubuntu 14.04 to install Xubuntu 14.04 (no GPU on this
machine hence Ubuntu is unusable)

I added the linux-kernel-non-free in order to get the WiFi card detected
and usable, and Presto! everything is running fine...

What are the differences between Xubuntu kernel and regular Ubuntu
kernel?

[Bug 1309335] Re: ubuntu gnome 13.10 fails to upgrade to 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the Oibaf PPA (https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers) .
This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains different versions of
packages essential to Ubuntu. Please revert to the official Xorg
packages and try the upgrade again.

[Bug 1304798] Re: Unable to access Facebook online account

2014-04-18 Thread Robert Bruce Park
Version 0.11+13.10.20140414-0ubuntu1 contained two independant bugfixes,
however one of them was found to be ineffective / the problem was
resolved by the service provider outside our control. So
0.11+13.10.20140414.1-0ubuntu1 contains a revert of the ineffective fix,
but still contains the one fix that is important, the facebook API key
change.

Please accept 0.11+13.10.20140414.1-0ubuntu1 into saucy-proposed for
testing.
