[Bug 1309237] Re: Work around whoopsie returning null string during session start
** Description changed: During session startup, the call to whoopsie_identifier_generate will on some devices leave both buffer and error as NULL. In particular, running http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7268480/ on mako (and presumably on manta) as a *session* upstart job, with the upstart script of http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7268498/ will get a null, null for the first 10 seconds (approximately) on mako: Rebooting (boot in dmesg -T at Thu Apr 17 14:32:36 2014, first init: line at Thu Apr 17 14:32:44 2014), in the upstart logs I get a series of 2014-04-17T14:32:54+ (null) :: nil (that's also the first such line ,10s after init) until suddenly 2014-04-17T14:32:56+ (null) :: nil 2014-04-17T14:32:56+ 81dc12[...]cd58 :: nil I don't know what's causing this, as it doesn't make sense from what I can read in the code. -- The whoopsie bug is now in lp:1311571 -- [Impact] ubuntu-push-client gets an empty string for the whoopsie identifier, which is rather not unique (so connections from multiple devices will get disconnected). [Test Case] You need: * a computer capable of running the ubuntu push server. * at least two devices using the stable image and that can talk to the computer over the network on a computer reachable from the devices, do: - mkdir -p test-case-1309231/src/launchpad.net + mkdir -p test-case-1309237/src/launchpad.net cd !$ bzr branch lp:ubuntu-push cd ubuntu-push make bootstrap sed -i~ -e 's/127.0.0.1//g' sampleconfigs/dev.json make run-server-dev on the devices, edit /etc/xdg/ubuntu-push-client/config.json (or copy it to ~phablet/.config/ubuntu-push-client/config.json and edit it there) so that addr points to the IP address of the computer, and port 9090; something like addr: 192.168.1.1:9090 (note there is no https:// as the hosts discovery step is being skipped). Reboot the devices. Tailing ~phablet/.cache/upstart/ubuntu-push- client.log will show a series of rapid disconnects and reconnects; the output of the server will show a series of empty registered (as opposed to registered followed by a 256-byte hash). [Regression potential] There's a possibility that whoopsie never stops returning a null string, and thus we never progress. Given that for whoopsie to return null seems to imply there is no network device up, that's probably for the best. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1309237 Title: Work around whoopsie returning null string during session start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-push/+bug/1309237/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311389] Re: RhythemBox wants to _Initialize_ a perfectly healthy iPhone.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. [Bug 1311599] [NEW] UbuntuShape should be available as an image provider
Public bug reported: We use UbuntuShape extensively everywhere in the Ubuntu UI. In a *lot* of places, it just means masking the image and adding the borders. Doing this every time you load the image feels wasteful, and is causing slowdowns in the UI (e.g. dash). I think we should also have the ability to use an image provider that will fetch the image, apply the shaping and flatten the image, allowing for caching (on disk as well) the resulting image. [Bug 1311600] [NEW] Ubuntu Push client takes no commandline arguments
Public bug reported: [Impact] * Every time we need to test something, either for an SRU or CI or QA or etc., we need to tell the user to edit the configuration file. The json parser we use is rather pedantic and the client will fail to start if the file is non-conforming, so there's a lot of space to break things. [Test Case] * In the test case in e.g. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu- push/+bug/1309432 there's a rather handwavy step “edit /etc/xdg/[...] (or copy it to ~phablet/.config/[...] and edit it there”. * /usr/lib/ubuntu-push-client/ubuntu-push-client takes no commandline arguments After this fix, “/usr/lib/ubuntu-push-client/ubuntu-push-client -help” will be somewhat useful, and we can tell people to say e.g. “-addr 192.168.1.1:9090” without risking messing up their configuration. [Regression Potential] If for whatever reason (corruption, a bad edit, etc) there is rubbish after the upstart script that starts the push client, after the fix, it will fail instead. ** Affects: ubuntu-push Importance: Undecided Assignee: Samuele Pedroni (pedronis) Status: Fix Committed ** Affects: ubuntu-push (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: John Lenton (chipaca) Status: New ** Also affects: ubuntu-push Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-push Assignee: (unassigned) = John Lenton (chipaca) ** Changed in: ubuntu-push (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = John Lenton (chipaca) ** Changed in: ubuntu-push Status: New = Fix Committed ** Changed in: ubuntu-push Assignee: John Lenton (chipaca) = Samuele Pedroni (pedronis) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311600 Title: Ubuntu Push client takes no commandline arguments To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-push/+bug/1311600/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311606] [NEW] xfce4 indicator plugin keeps crashing
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Trusty yesterday, the XFCE4 indicator applet no longer works. I can install it in the panel and see all my indicators appear, but within a few seconds it crashes, the indicators disappear and I get a message offering to remove the applet from the panel. [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
@Omri Stein, @Akaname, @Kiori, @Joe D. First some good news... There seems to be a simple workaround to restore the highquality A2DP interworking to your Bluetooth headset. 1) Use Blueman to pair to the headset. My experience was that it will pair and even connect as headset with the horrible audio quality Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP) audio profile. 2) The Ubuntu Sound Control panel wont however show the Bluetooth device yet! 3) Open a command terminal and issue the command:pulseaudio -k 4) After a short delay you should see the Headset appear in the listed audio devices of the Ubuntu Sound Control Panel 5) Select the device and connect some audio source (VLC Media or your favourite player)... The quality will still be poor... 6) Now use Blueman GUI, select the device and press mouse right click and then select the Refresh Services. It should show a succes message in the lower status bar. 7) Right click on the headset device in Blueman GUI and select Audio Sink. If it displays a success message your in luck. 8) Now right click the headset device in Blueman GUI and select Audio Profile menu and then select High Fidelity Playback (A2DP). It should suceed and switch into the correct mode. == You will always have to issue the pulseaudio -k command from terminal before using the headset, but it's a tolerable work around. Hope this works for you too. -Colum -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283003 Title: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-bluetooth/+bug/1283003/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

However, it *should* work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306917 Title: light-locker: screen always automatically locked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-locker-settings/+bug/1306917/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311617] [NEW] After suspending, shift key is stuck down
Public bug reported: When using the sticky keys accessibility feature and returning from suspend, the right shift key is logically stuck. Note that I do not use the right shift key, so it must be switching states on suspend/resume. Entering a password will fail, and through trial and error I found it is the right shift key. Pressing this key resets the feature and allows entering of a password normally. This problem doesn't occur on my computer when the sticky key feature is off. This problem did not occur before release 14.04, so I assume it has to do with the new unified log in screen that replaced the prior screen on resuming from standby.
