[Bug 1327957] [NEW] /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless:23: /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enable: No such file or directory

2014-06-09 Thread Aditya
Public bug reported:

In 14.04, there is a bug in /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless script at
line 23. It should enabled at the end of path
/sys/class/net/$1/device/enable.

I always get an ENOENT error in /var/log/pm-powersave.log when that hook
runs, inspite of active wlan0.

Running hook /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless false:
cat: /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enable: No such file or directory
/usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless false: success.

This bug prevents Wi-Fi power saving feature from being enabled when a
laptop is running on battery power!

[Bug 1328038] Re: Sync clamav 0.98.4~rc1+dfsg-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-06-09 Thread Scott Kitterman
The releases after 0.98.1 are problematic in a number of respects and
regressions, which will all, hopefully, be resolved in the 0.98.4
release, which is expected any day now. Even though there's no
remaining packaging diff to preclude a sync, I think it's better to wait
for 0.98.4 final to get into Debian to do the sync.

[Bug 1328100] [NEW] products_condense doesnt seem to work as desired

2014-06-09 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

bad description, but I have a example data and test.

See the attached file, but we call 'util.products_condense' on the
products data and it doesnt seem to move up some of the fields. I'd
expect for most of the fields not marked sticky to bubble up.

Note, that sticky=None or sticky=[some, list] doesn't seem to be
breaking it (ie, sticky=None still shows it).

Heres the test program:

#!/usr/bin/python

from simplestreams import util
import sys, copy

STICKY = ['ftype', 'md5', 'sha256', 'size', 'name', 'id']
STICKY = None

data = util.load_content(open(sys.argv[1], r).read())

[Bug 1194074] Re: Default index.html blindly overwritten

2014-06-09 Thread Robie Basak
 Will Ubuntu fix the package, or does it need to be done by the Debian
maintainer?

Whether it needs fixing or not is a matter of debate. Personally, I
agree with you, but this isn't a reason in itself to make a change. I
would prefer to see consensus across Debian and Ubuntu, and am unwilling
to advocate a change in Ubuntu's nginx packaging against Debian's
opinion on this point.

Since Ubuntu follows Debian's direction by default, this needs to be
taken up in Debian in the first instance. If you want to argue the
point, then I suggest that you do it in the Debian bug.

Failing this, I think we need a specific reason to diverge in Ubuntu (as
opposed to just a reason why Debian is wrong), since this commits Ubuntu
developers to increased ongoing maintenance, and commits users to
confusion because the two behave differently.

Is there perhaps some kind of middle ground? What if Debian shipped a
README in /usr/share/nginx/www/ which prominently states that the
directory will be overwritten on upgrade?

I tested an upgrade from 1.5.1 - upgraded, started an existing node,
recommissioned an existing node, deleted the node, then
enlisted/commissioned/installed to it without issue.

[Bug 1314674] Re: Unable to connect to VCenter 5.5 VimFaultException: Server raised fault: 'Element tag ns0:RetrieveServiceContent uses an undefined namespace prefix ns0

2014-06-09 Thread James Page
Fixed version uploaded to trusty-proposed for SRU team review.

** Description changed:

- I'm currently trying to integrate an OpenStack testbed (based on
- Icehouse nova-2014.1 , Ubuntu 14.04 standard packages) with VCenter. I
- configured nova.conf http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-
- reference/content/vmware.html:
+ [Impact]
+ Users of the Nova VMWare integration can't use the distro provided package.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ sudo apt-get install nova-compute-vmware
+ (configure /etc/nova/nova.conf to point to a vsphere deployment)
+ error in original bug report
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ The fix is to drop a distro patch which has all ready been dropped in Debian
and utopic.
+
+ [Original Bug Report]
+ I'm currently trying to integrate an OpenStack testbed (based on Icehouse
nova-2014.1 , Ubuntu 14.04 standard packages) with VCenter. I configured
nova.conf http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/vmware.html:

  compute_driver=vmwareapi.VMwareVCDriver

  reserved_host_memory_mb=0

  [vmware]
  host_ip=192.168.0.146
  host_username=root
  host_password=password_here
  cluster_name=VCOS
  datastore_regex=qnap*

  Using the password I'm able to login to VCenter using vSphere Web
  Client, Cluster VCOS was created using DRS, and I also defined a port
  group br-int on the ESXi hosts in the cluster. Although OpenStack Nova
  using KVM works like a breeze on two other compute nodes, I constantly
  get error messages on the node running VMwareVCDriver in note-
  compute.log

[Bug 1072221] Re: ELinks built without lua support

2014-06-09 Thread cmeerw
I am actually not sure that it has been properly fixed in Debian yet -
if you look at the package dependencies you will notice that the elinks
package only depends on liblua on some platform (but not others).

[Bug 1326500] Re: libgssapi-krb5-2: segfault when mechglue loops endlessly on call to gss_add_cred_from

2014-06-09 Thread Brian Murray
For reference here is the debian changelog in which this bug was fixed:

krb5 (1.12.1+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Jelmer Vernooij ]
  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Provide -L and -I flags from krb5-config. Closes: #730837
  * Ship krb5-config.mit binary in krb5-multidev., Closes: #745322
  * Provide -L and -I flags from pkg-config files. Closes: #750041

  [ Sam Hartman ]
  * Include upstream patch to load gss mechanisms from /etc/gss/mech.d,
Closes: #673680
  * Sysconfdir explicitly set to /etc
  * Include ubuntu change to permit libverto-libevent1 (not currently
built in Debian) as an alternative for the KDC. For now just
reduces diff with Ubuntu. Next libverto upload will probably start
building that for Debian too.
  * Do not cause endless loop when a mechanism fails to include
gss_add_cred_from or other new methods (upstream #7926)
  * Include /etc/gss/mech.d/README
  * Low urgency to give extra time in unstable
  * Update symbols for gss_indicate_mechs

[Bug 1287726] Re: Wrong evaluation whether json is valid or not

2014-06-09 Thread Ice
On a fundamental level, the provided replacement doesn’t match PHP
Documentation about behaviour.
Json_decode() is described to return NULL on invalid UTF-8 sequence, and set an
error message of JSON_ERROR_UTF8.
Current behaviour with json-c is returns JSON_OK, and returns an invalid string
that cannot be used in any PHP Intl function, database, without throwing
exceptions or generating invalid data that can’t be easily fixed in the
database. (Or, it throws more exceptions)

Thus, properly coded applications that expect the result of any JSON data to be
able be used throughout the application are now able to be exploited or to
crash by sending invalid JSON data, whereas before a “if (json_last_error() !==
JSON_OK)” or even “if (!$decodedJson) /// No Request ” would cleanly filter
these degenerate strings.
This affects 100% of code that uses json_decode(). As it stands, attempting to
deploy this out will generate too many errors, and possibly create attack
vectors for allowing invalid UTF-8 sequences through.

All the code in ZF2, Apigility, and presumably others where the
decoding of the HTTP POST Request expect invalid UTF-8 sequences to be
caught by the json_decode, and thus the values are used internally as
valid UTF-8 without any additional checking on the content before
passing it to other methods, functions, databases, etc.

All PHP functions that deal with internationalization require a valid
UTF-8 input string, any string that makes it past any API controller,
thus generates many errors due to invalid UTF-8 sequences, whereas
before it was caught by the decoded request being NULL = .

At least in our case, the only viable solution was to recompile php-json from
the PHP sources, and deploy that to our server-farms nationwide. However, I
would assume that 95% of the end-users of Ubuntu will not realise that 100% of
their user-input JSON cannot be used with any framework out of the box, and
should be wrapped with a
  $userInput = json_decode($rawJson);
  $userInput = (json_encode($userInput) === false) ? NULL : $userInput; //
Required to ensure compatibility with jsonc

And this MUST be done on every instance of a json-decoded variable
otherwise hard-to-track bugs and potential attack-vectors are exposed.

To fix many frameworks, the workaround code will now have to check every
response as JSON_OK no longer means “decode OK, valid UTF-8”.

In addition, requiring a valid JSON request to the API will no longer be
providing clean filtered input to the controllers, as before the
framework would generate a Input required (!empty($json)) or Request
contained invalid UTF-8 sequence (JSON_ERROR_UTF8). But, now, all
invalid input is passed back to the code that was coded so that these
cases would never be an issue.

As we are a large ISP, we have test cases to test for invalid input, and attack
vectors, but I would assume that the majority of users DO NOT have testing for
these cases which are defined by PHP DOCUMENTATION as NOT POSSIBLE.
As, which sensible user will double check that JSON_OK is in fact an error
condition?

[Bug 1257186] Re: memory leakage messages

2014-06-09 Thread doliveira
Hi,

I have a HP Microserver N40L and on a fresh installation of Ubuntu
Server 14.04 LTS i get the same Leaking Memory Problem.

Because im new using Ubuntu Server, can please someone please help me on
this and respond to 3 simple questions i have:

1- Besides removing libpam-smbpass is there any other solution for
this problem?

2- Until Ubuntu team releases a fix / update for this, can i still use
Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS, without problems? How does this memory leaking
problem affects my system?

3- On the installation process i choose to install Samba. If i don't
install Samba will the Leaking Memory problem still happen?

Thanks

Issue Description :
CPU frequency looks normal after cold boot (slows down to 1GHz when CPUs are
idle), but then stick to maximum frequency (2GHz) whatever CPU's load, since
after resuming from first suspend to ram.
Behavior stays the same from this point on.

I didn't noticed it at first, until I took a look to my temperature
sensors a few days after the update, and saw my CPUs 15C hotter than

[Bug 1318691] Re: missing or wrong links in /usr/libexec

2014-06-09 Thread Serge Hallyn
I did also create and start a kvm vm. I have seen no erros about
/usr/libexec.

The errors you are seeing are because the xml files you are asking me to
use in 'virsh define' are wrong, They specify:

emulator/usr/libexec/qemu-kvm/emulator

They specifically tell libvirt to use /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm. Change
these to

emulator/usr/bin/kvm/emulator

You also have some unsupported features in your cpu definition. When I
removed the four lines containing:

pdpe1gb, pcid, smx, pclmuldq

then your Production.xml was able to start.

[Bug 1257186] Re: memory leakage messages

2014-06-09 Thread Wayne
On fresh 14.04 install with Samba File Server selected during
install...I hit the same leaking memory message when i 'sudo su'.
Confirmed was able to run 'pam-auth-update' and deselected SMB password
synchronization option in the pam-auth-update UI and the leaking
memory no longer appears. However, i don't know if this actually
prevents the memory leak or if there are any other side-effects.

# are not shown in this example

# Some options that are often worth tuning have been included as
# commented-out examples in this file.

[Bug 1324000] Re: Re-enable qtbase tests that are disabled with Qt 5.3

2014-06-09 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Some whitelist candidates and reasoning:

- tst_QThreadPool::expiryTimeoutRace - test did not exist in 5.2.1. fails only
on armhf and upstream seems to have had problems with the test.
- tests/auto/gui/kernel/qwindow/tst_qwindow.cpp - tests (positioning, isactive)
already disabled in our 5.2.1 build, now initialsize added though
- tests/auto/corelib/tools/qdate/tst_qdate.cpp - there's a text prefix
character (Unicode?) error in the string, but the number seems right.

Possibly problematic ones that would need more investigating or some
fix:

-
qtbase-opensource-src-5.3.0/tests/auto/dbus/qdbusxmlparser/tst_qdbusxmlparser.cpp

[Bug 1327958] [NEW] Sometimes X.org failed on system start

2014-06-09 Thread Vasiliy Pedak
Public bug reported:

System is booting up. Then I see ubuntu logo. Then it disappears and
screen is blinking during one second. Then I see the message in the
window like 'System can't start in full graphical mode'.

I press 'ok' button. And I see window which asks me to decide which
action to do next: 'proceed load in recovery graphics mode', 'restore
settings', 'archive logs', 'see startup error messages' etc...

So I decided to archive logs and I've attached them to this bug report.

I also tried to restore settings by clicking on corresponding menu item in the
window. But when I click 'OK' after recovery option selection nothing happens.
When I am clicked on menu item with message like 'proceed with recovery
graphical mode' ( I don't remember correct messages text ) then system asks me
to wait for minute and seems hangs.

After one or two tries to recover xorg settings from recovery mode I can
boot up again.

I've met this issues for the first time after I've removed nvidia
drivers. Why have I deleted them? :) Because brightness adjustment was
available in too small brightness range.

@Jean-Philippe you can reload only the module:
sudo rmmod rtl8723be sudo modprobe rtl8723be
This will help without reboot

@Adam so the new kernel does not solve the problem :(

[Bug 1327957] Re: /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless:23: /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enable: No such file or directory

2014-06-09 Thread Aditya
** Description changed:

  In 14.04, there is a bug in /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless script at
  line 23. It should enabled at the end of path
  /sys/class/net/$1/device/enable.

  I always get an ENOENT error in /var/log/pm-powersave.log when that hook
  runs, inspite of active wlan0.

  Running hook /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless false:
  cat: /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enable: No such file or directory

[Bug 1311247] Re: [Grubenv] error: malformed file, press any key to continue

2014-06-09 Thread Roland65
What I said in #47 is also wrong. It seems that the annoying message disappears
at the first reboot after the command grub-set-default 0, but reappears the
next reboot. So this is not a valid solution... Sorry for the trouble!

[Bug 1327498] Re: [Asus S551LB] Networking disabled when starting from hibernation

2014-06-09 Thread Karim Sonbol
Sorry, I didn't choose 'Advanced options for Ubuntu' the first time. Anyway, I
installed the latest mainline kernel like you said. (v3.15-utopic)
sudo pm-hibernate now works! However, it didn't ask me for my username and
password after waking from hibernation. I don't know if this is a new feature
or a bug.
Can I keep using this kernel? I mean, will it be stable?

[Bug 1320070] Re: Realtek Wifi card RTL8723BE drops connection with MSI enabled

2014-06-09 Thread Ekimia
Just for my understanding : Do people from realtek are working on this ?

I know Realtek deliver high quality drivers for years but each time it
takes several YEARS to make it work normally on the current LTS Ubuntu
release.

Isn't it in their interest that their products work great on Ubuntu OOTB
?

We choose realtek for our Ubuntu preinstalled machines because we knew
they would support GNU/LInux, but that ain't really true at last.

[Bug 1327971] [NEW] libm log function: always unreferenced

2014-06-09 Thread Hong Xu
Public bug reported:

For this simple code:

#include math.h

int main(void)
{
log(0.0);

return 0;
}

when compiled with `gcc -lm foo.c`, you would always get the following
error message:

/tmp/ccTTLEYA.o: In function `main':
foo.c:(.text+0x9): undefined reference to `log'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

which doesn't make sense.

I tried the same code to be compiled with `clang -lm foo.c`, which
compiles successfully.

Also, I tried the same code on a RHEL 6 machine with gcc, which compiles
successfully.

** Description changed:

  I previously enabled hibernation following this SwapFAQ wiki:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq#How_do_I_add_more_swap.3F
  It was working alright until the hibernate option suddenly decided to
disappear. It's no longer in the menu in the top right corner or the options
that show up when pressing the power button. sudo pm-hibernate also does not
work now!
  This maybe a cause of some Ubuntu updates, but I am not sure.
