[Bug 1273225] Re: php5enmod - priority is not set by argument

2014-06-12 Thread Ondřej Surý
I have reworked the whole php5{en,dis}mod thing and I don't really
remember how I reimplemented it :), but the source code helps:

get_priority() {
local sapi=$1
local modname=$2

local source_ini=/etc/php5/mods-available/${modname}.ini

module_ret=0
module_exists $modname || module_ret=$?

if [ $module_ret -eq 0 ]; then
priority=$(sed -ne s/^; priority=\([0-9]\+\)$/\\1/p $source_ini)
[ -z $priority ] priority=20
echo $priority
return 0
fi

return $module_ret
}

So yes, the priority is not set from within the .ini.

As for the documentation - patches are always welcome.

[Bug 1329254] [NEW] A VM does not become inactive during the reboot on saucy and later hosts

2014-06-12 Thread Parameswaran Sivatharman
Public bug reported:

On raring and prior hosts, VMs become inactive at one point during the
first reboot after the installation But starting from saucy as host VMs
do not become inactive during the reboot of preseeded installations but
they do during the reboot after a manual installation.

Basically, the attached script (temp.py) exits during a manual utopic
dekstop installation on a trusty host but continues to loop during the
first reboot for a preseeded install .

i.e. libvirt.open(qemu:///system).lookupByName(desktop).isActive()
becomes 0 at one point during the reboot after a manual install but not
after a preseeded installation.

This is causing issues like:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/utah/+bug/1199349

in the smoke tests.

I'm not entirely sure if this is really a bug, but this certainly is a
change in behaviour in libvirt since saucy.

[Bug 1272857] Re: apache2 crashed with SIGSEGV in signal handler called()

2014-06-12 Thread Andreas Gleißner
Hello,

I believe to have identified the problem and
propose a fix (see attachment).

The module has a global variable PGconn *pg_conn, which is a pointer to
a PostgreSQL connection.
The code determines if there is an active connection by checking if
pg_conn is non-NULL.
However, the connection is closed by calling PQfinish(pg_conn) without
resetting pg_conn to NULL.
The documentation of libpq says that PQfinish frees the memory used by
the PGConn object.
Hence, when Apache calls check_password the second time, the code
falsely assumes (as pg_conn != NULL) that there is an active connection
and tries to access the previously freed PGconn object, which results in
a segmentation fault.
The same problem applies to the pointer PGresult *pg_result, for which
PQclear(pg_result) is called.

My proposed solution consists in simply resetting pg_conn = NULL after
each call of PQfinish(pg_conn) and resetting pg_result = NULL after each
call of PQclear(pg_result).

Andreas

[Bug 1329295] [NEW] juju-core 1.18.4-0ubuntu1 FTBFS on powerpc in utopic-proposed

2014-06-12 Thread Robie Basak
Public bug reported:

core/1.18.4-0ubuntu1/+build/6076908

All other architectures are OK, including ppc64el. I cannot reproduce on
a porter box. infinity has reproduced and reports that a build on Trusty
is OK, but Utopic fails.

Creating this bug to track this as I have a bunch of juju-core packaging
issues that I'm juggling at the moment, and would like to keep a bug
list to track them all.

regexp -s device '\((.*)\)' $dev
set root=$device
for file in /boot/vmlinuz-* /boot/linux-*; do
if test -f $file; then
set saved_root=$root
fi
done
done
set root=$saved_root

if test -f /boot/grub2/grub.cfg ; then
configfile /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
elif test -f /boot/grub/grub.cfg ; then
configfile /boot/grub/grub.cfg

-O x86_64-xen -d grub-core/ boot/grub/grub.cfg
mv pvgrub2.xen /boot

To use it simply set the pvgrub2.xen in kernel parameter of domU's xl cfg.
Note: it works only with domUs that have grub2, old domUs with grub1 must use
pygrub instead

[Bug 1275656] Re: open-vm-dkms 2011.12.20-562307-0ubuntu1: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build

2014-06-12 Thread Robert C Jennings
Alex Bligh,
The description text was not up to date and I am correcting it. When the
kernel modules from the dkms package were taken to the Linux kernel community
the vmhgfs module was not accepted and vmhgfs is no longer supported. The
current options for file access between the host and guest would be standard
remote file systems such as CIFS or NFS. Additionally, file drag-and-drop is
functional and provided by open-vm-tools-lts-trusty-desktop.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- * Failure to build the kernel modules in open-vm-dkms for HWE kernels
impedes guest configuration, host/guest file system, desktop copy buffer
sharing, etc when running a Precise VM on a VMWare host.
- * This SRU focuses on HWE support for VMWare's vCloud Hybrid Service (vCHS)
which requires open-vm-tools from the upstream stable stream (in Trusty) and
the 3.9 kernel.
- * These kernel modules from open-vm-dkms have been merged with the upstream
kernel as of 3.9
- * Upstream changes only available in the mainline kernel modules and the
9.4.x stable series of open-vm-tools are required to support VMWare's vCloud
Hybrid Service (vCHS).
+  * Failure to build the kernel modules in open-vm-dkms for HWE kernels

sharing, etc when running a Precise VM on a VMWare host.

Hybrid Service (vCHS).

- State of Precise
- * open-vm-tools in Precise is based on an unsupported development snapshot
from upstream (http://open-vm-tools.sourceforge.net/)
- * open-vm-dkms fails to build its kernel modules for open-vm-tools on
Precise.
- * Kernel modules affected include vmc_vmci and vmc_vsock both of which are
host/guest communication. They are used for guest configuration, host/guest
file system, desktop copy buffer sharing, etc.
- * This version of open-vm-tools is not supported by upstream or Debian.
- * The modules which fail to build have been merged upstream, with the
exception of the host-guest file system (hgfs) module which has been replaced
with an hgfs FUSE helper. These modules are available in v3.9 of the kernel
and later (Saucy and later). This vmware knowlegebase article (2073804
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_UScmd=displayKCexternalId=2073804)
maps out when each driver landed upstream but kernel 3.9 includes everything.
-
- State of Trusty/Upstream
- * open-vm-tools in Debian testing/unstable and Trusty are based on the
stable 9.4.x release from upstream.
- * The kernel modules previously shipped by open-vm-dkms are now supported
in the upstream kernel (v3.9 and later)
- * The upstream kernel modules and open-vm-tools have received enhancements
to support vmware's vCloud Hybrid Service (vCHS) which are not available
downstream.
+  State of Precise

- Changes
- 1) back-ported the version of open-vm-tools in Trusty as a separate HWE
package (open-vm-tools-hwe).
-* It will not be an upgrade target (does not contain provides:
open-vm-tools) but would require manual installation along with an HWE kernel
from Saucy or later. The newer package will not regress open-vm-tools as it
exists in Precise.
-* The open-vm-tools for Precise based on the 2011.12.20-562307 development
snapshot can still be maintained by the community to support Precise with the
stock kernel.
- 2) updated the open-vm-tools package in Trusty to replace the
open-vm-tools-hwe packages created by this change.
+  State of Trusty/Upstream
+  * open-vm-tools in Debian

[Bug 1307614] Re: MAAS sometimes attempts to install to USB flash drive

2014-06-12 Thread Gavin Panella
Something we want to add to MAAS is the idea of recommissioning, i.e.
when a node is released back to MAAS, it runs a cycle that does a bunch
of things to get the machine ready to go out the door again. For
example, reset BIOS settings, erase disks. Like commissioning, a MAAS
admin would be able to configure their own scripts to run.

With the existing commissioning stage and a new commissioning stage,
we'd have an opportunity to run a site-specific find me the disk on
which to put the OS script. This could set a pre-agreed disk label,
e.g. OS or ROOT, that curtin could be modified to take notice of.

More flexible than that is for curtin to grow the capability to run a
site-specific fine me the disk script directly, but that would entail
more work in MAAS to support it.

[Bug 1329429] [NEW] local bootstrap fails

2014-06-12 Thread Alistair Buxton
Public bug reported:

I attemped to follow the instructions at
http://askubuntu.com/questions/65359/how-do-i-configure-juju-for-local-
usage:

1. sudo apt get install juju-local
2. juju init

This gives the following error:

+ FIX:
+ The problem is caused by using the *.cer. Azure wants the *.pem file. The

+
+ The juju azure-provider could check if the file is a pem and raise an
+ error early.

[Bug 1237364] Re: Commissioning with a Saucy image sets node status to Failed tests

2014-06-12 Thread Rajasekar Karthik
I am having same problems but with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS -

I have a Ubuntu MASS Server running on one node.
It has two NICs. One NIC (eth1) is connected to our organization's network. The
other NIC (eth0) is private network - to manage all the nodes in the cloud. I
am running DHCP server on eth0.

I am trying to add another node. It can PXE boot, get IP address, but
cannot connect to external network and get packages. Can you provide
details on how to resolve this? I referred
http://ideasnet.wordpress.com/category/ubuntu-14-04lts-cloud-computing-
server-edition/

which helped in other cases, but not with this problem.

Thanks!

Failing the verification. Installing open-vm-tools-lts-trusty does not
include /etc/init.d/open-vm-tools, which means that the services don't

[Bug 1300739] Re: keepalived doesn't load any ipv6 virtual servers

2014-06-12 Thread Dave Chiluk
@pkern, it is already in proposed for precise. Make sure you enable
-proposed from a mirror that has already synced with the main archives
*(i.e. mirroring usually happens nightly, so it may not be on your
mirror yet).

The lts-trusty kernels in precise are basically mirrors of the ubuntu-
trusty.git repository built within precise.

[Bug 1329177] Re: CONFIG_RANDOMIZE_BASE is not enabled in utopic kernel

2014-06-12 Thread Kees Cook
Notes from IRC:

You can either turn off CONFIG_HIBERNATE to gain it, or write patches to
make those work together in some way. :) one idea I had that I haven't
had time to see if it could work is to make kaslr disabled by default if
CONFIG_HIBERNATE is enabled, and then if boot with kaslr on the kernel
cmdline, hibernation would get disabled. (i.e. system owner could pick
which of the two they wanted, and pre-kaslr behavior would remain distro
default).

if someone could write that, i would be very happy! :)

[Bug 1329187] [NEW] The driver is not working except for setting the resoluton

2014-06-12 Thread Sunip Kumar Mukherjee
Public bug reported:

This driver installs without problem and after rebooting the resolution
is okay. But the system is running on Gallium, (glxinfo), and glxgears
(windowed) is taking up 140% cpu usage as shown in 'top'. If you follow
the intel instructions to build the driver for kernel 3.1.0 in fedora
16, this is not the case. Glxgears runs with 6% cpu usage. This
necessarily means that the driver package is not doing what it is
supposed to do. The renderer shows in F16 as PVRSGX545, but in Ubuntu it
is Gallium. After applying the same procedure in Ubuntu as in fedora, we
get the resolution but AGAIN we meet with renderer 'Unknown', and
Glxgears give 140% cpu use.

[Bug 1308511] Re: rotation of compound objects fails

2014-06-12 Thread R. Moeller
I'm aware that you cannot rotate compounds which INCLUDE an object that
cannot be rotated by arbitrary angles; this is probably what you refer
to, but it is NOT the problem.

The problem is that you CAN rotate the compound if it stands alone, but
as soon as an object OUTSIDE this compound is drawn which cannot be
rotated by arbitrary angles, rotation of the rotatable compound suddenly
also fails. To me it looks as if a check goes wrong: Rotation should
check whether the compound to be rotated contains a component which
cannot be rotated by arbitrary angles. What happens is that somehow
other objects outside the compound that should be rotated are checked on
whether they are rotatable by arbitrary angles.

Microphone connected via TRRS plug on Macbook Air 5,1 is not recognised.
Selecting Analogue In in Pulseaudio mixer is same as selecting
Microphone - i.e. sounds recorded are always the Internal microphone,
and not the microphone connected via the TRRS plug. When using OSX
however, the TRRS microphone works correctly.

Have tried booting Live CDs of 12.04, 13.04, and 14.04, and even tried
upgrading kernel to 3.15, and problem persists.

[Bug 335858] Re: rpc.idmapd does not see LDAP users (nfs4 server)

2014-06-12 Thread aaron thomas
I have this problem on every version of ubuntu to date.

My setup are two kinds of systems (we have hundreds of these systems
deployed).

If we configure users with nfsv4 on systems with NIS (no kerberos. just
a vanilla NIS implementation), idmapd works great.

If we configure machines identically but instead of configuring NIS we
configure for our LDAP server. nfsv4 gets uids of 4294967294 . debug
output of idmapd shows it idle on the ldap configuration. Meanwhile
getent shows all users appropriately and users can log into the server
fine.

So, in other words, coming from another angle where kerberos is not
configured at all, we get a non-functioning nfs client on LDAP systems.
This has been an unsolvable problem peventing us from retiring NIS for
LDAP for 5 years.

[Bug 335858] Re: rpc.idmapd does not see LDAP users (nfs4 server)

2014-06-12 Thread aaron thomas
The previous comparison was to explain that the NFSv4 configurations are
(pretty basic) working as expected, as they're identical on both
systems, the only change is whether or not the server itself is getting
users from LDAP or NIS, and both LDAP and NIS configurations are also
working fine, as users can log in. create local files with the correct
permissions, enter passwords, etc. The missing part is that idmapd does
nothing when the underlying system is using ldap instead of nis or
/etc/passwd.

[Bug 1329201] [NEW] Onboard graphics takes priority over card

2014-06-12 Thread MicWit
Public bug reported:

When I went to install ubuntu 14.04 on my new system (and tested 13.10
and 12.04), it seemed to be failing (black screen or flashing cursor). I
did a few things, but ended up discovering that it was loading on the
onboard video, not the card I was plugged into.

In the BIOS, the Nvidia GTX750 was selected as default, for some reason,
Ubuntu is not following this. Once I disabled the onboard card,
everything worked as expected! This could be a headache for a lot of
people, and I think it could be solved easily with an option of what
video card is to be used (this would be done at the same place nomodeset
is done, but not have to press any key to bring it up), or to be able to
detect BIOS settings.

[Bug 1328586] Re: Synaptic is reading state information for a minute or so

2014-06-12 Thread dino99
Feedback from utopic i386 booted with systemd and logged as gnome-shell
3.12

- looks like an apt issue: switching from small packages list tabs in synaptic
(installed or upgradable or new) is 'normal' but 'all' is freezing ~ 60s, same
if switching from 'status' 'custom' or 'origin' in the bottom left pane.
- so when there is too much packages to handle, we get a minute freeze

so its related to built/use index as i see it: maybe libapt-pkg4.12
but there is no warning/error logged or from a terminal

note: also need some guidance to perform a debugging before sending
something usefull.

[Bug 278143] Jeg har brug for din hjælp.

2014-06-12 Thread beer

//Jonas

[Bug 1329204] [NEW] Cellular operator name should be more visible

2014-06-12 Thread Martti Piirainen
Public bug reported:

The cellular operator name is currently well hidden, the necessary steps are
 - swipe down the indicator bar
 - select Network
 - [scroll down if there are many WiFi networks]
 - select Cellular settings ...
 - find the Carrier field at the bottom

Tested with mako HW and image 79.

This is problematic
1. for operator partners, as this simple string is their most important
branding element in the daily use of a phone.
2. for phone users, as they want to know in which network they are registered
(especially when roaming).

Comparing to reference devices:
 - Most traditional phones always show this information in the home screen.
 - Android shows this information when swiping down the indicator bar.

Any design change obviously would need to take Dual SIM requirements
into account.

[Bug 1321889] Re: 1002:954f [Asus M2N-E SLI] Can't boot without radeon.audio=0 since kernel 3.13

2014-06-12 Thread Bug8 Johsnon
It must be a problem with the Saphire model, or something else... But
I'm not sure what, as I tried it in several machines.

Anyway since it seems I'm the only one getting this, I think I will put
a Linux incompatible sticker on the card and repurpose it in a windows
machine, or a distro that still have kernel 3.12.

Thanks you all for trying to help me.

[Bug 1329201] Re: Onboard graphics takes priority over card

2014-06-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1329201/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1304434] Re: indicator-printers not working on Ubuntu 14.04

2014-06-12 Thread Peter Sewell
Hi David,

Here's what I've done and it seems to have worked - fingers crossed.

I removed the indicator-printers using Synaptic.
Added the Pre-release Updates in the repositories.
Then installed the indicator-printers using Synaptic.
Then changed the repositories back to normal unticking the Pre-release Updates.
Rebooted
And it stayed working for me.

Hope that helps.

[Bug 1273225] Re: php5enmod - priority is not set by argument

2014-06-12 Thread Ondřej Surý
I have reworked the whole php5{en,dis}mod thing and I don't really
remember how I reimplemented it :), but the source code helps:

get_priority() {
local sapi=$1
local modname=$2

local source_ini=/etc/php5/mods-available/${modname}.ini

module_ret=0
module_exists $modname || module_ret=$?

if [ $module_ret -eq 0 ]; then
priority=$(sed -ne s/^; priority=\([0-9]\+\)$/\\1/p $source_ini)
[ -z $priority ] priority=20
echo $priority
return 0
fi

return $module_ret
}

So yes, the priority is not set from within the .ini.

As for the documentation - patches are always welcome.

[Bug 1329227] [NEW] pg_createcluster crashes when a username or group is specified that contains digits

2014-06-12 Thread Sven Berkvens-Matthijsse
Public bug reported:

pg_createcluster accepts options --user and --group to specify under
which credentials a new database cluster should be created. According to
the manual page, one may specify either a name or a UID/GID (as digits).

The implementation, however, tests whether there is a digit in the given
string, not whether the entire string consists of digits. This causes
problems for me: I have a development system where each developer
creates databases and such per ticket. Users and groups are created for
this purpose, named ticketNNN where NNN is the number of the ticket
that the developer has been given to implement or bug fix. But
pg_createcluster does not like these user and group names, for example
ticket123: it thinks I specified a UID/GID instead of a name, and does
the wrong thing. It crashes later on when tries to use the string as a
number. This is what it says on my Precise system specifically:

Argument ticket123 isn't numeric in getpwuid at
/usr/share/postgresql-common/PgCommon.pm line 790.
Argument ticket123 isn't numeric in scalar assignment at
/usr/share/postgresql-common/PgCommon.pm line 796.
Argument ticket123 isn't numeric in numeric ne (!=) at
/usr/share/postgresql-common/PgCommon.pm line 799.

This is because the test on line 237 of pg_createcluster:
$owneruid = (getpwnam $owneruid)[2] unless $owneruid =~ /\d+/;
is testing the wrong thing. I think it should read:
$owneruid = (getpwnam $owneruid)[2] unless $owneruid =~ /^\d+$/;

The same happens a few lines down with the group name.

My Ubuntu version information:
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release:12.04

I'm using postgresql-common version 129ubuntu1.

[Bug 1329220] [NEW] Default CMake build type changed between saucy and trusty

2014-06-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Comparing the nightly build for netCDF on saucy [1] and trusty [2], I
noticed that the default CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE changed from RelWithDebInfo to
None. I suppose this is in accordance with the discussion on Debian's
debhelper in [3]. As opposed to this, however, it seems from [2] that
the respective environment variables (CFLAGS and friends) have not been
changed to

CFLAGS=-g -O2 -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -Wformat
-Werror=format-security

Can anyone confirm or refute this?
