[Bug 1330228] [NEW] Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet.
Public bug reported: Kazam Screen caster, written in Python3, is using Cairo for doing graphics. Now, I've run into this: File ../kazam/frontend/window_countdown.py, line 181, in createDropShadow surface = cairo.ImageSurface.create_for_data(data, format, width, height) NotImplementedError: Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet. It appears that Surface.create_for_data isn't implemented. After inspecting the weird code in the original tar.gz I confirmed this: static PyObject * image_surface_create_for_data (PyTypeObject *type, PyObject *args) { cairo_surface_t *surface; cairo_format_t format; unsigned char *buffer; int width, height, stride = -1, res; Py_ssize_t buffer_len; PyObject *obj; // buffer function disabled PyErr_SetString(PyExc_NotImplementedError, Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet.); return NULL;/* By BigW: Everything past here is dead code */ if (!PyArg_ParseTuple(args, Oiii|i:Surface.create_for_data, obj, format, width, height, stride)) return NULL; However, after checking couple of other repositories with pycairo, create_for_data() function is different, without the weird return call. I've checked: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/pycairo/ git://git.cairographics.org/git/pycairo Can this patch from 2011 be included in Ubuntu? http://lists.cairographics.org/archives/cairo/2011-December/022563.html And why am I the first one running into this? :) ** Affects: py3cairo (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330228 Title: Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet. [Bug 1327625] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6t-6b00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC] System spontaneously awakes from sleep
slowtrain, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the first line at the top page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.15 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 1328984] Re: [Dell PowerEdge R510] Regression: Kernel 3.2.0-64 fails to boot with USB3 controller card

[Bug 1329810] Re: Btrfs /boot partition has no UUID
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Do the following to reproduce the problem: Using the installer create a /boot partition (primary) using btrfs as file system. When the install is finished and you boot up the system, the fstab entry for /boot looks like this: /dev/sda1 /boot btrfs defaults 0 2 This does not happen if I repeat the exact same procedure using ext2/ext3/ext4 for the /boot partition, where an entry in the resulting fstab looks like expected: UUID=13b5e56a-825c-4633-bd65-64174ecc3c7b /boot ext4 defaults 0 2 I tried to manually solve this issue by running sudo blkid /dev/sda1, but nothing is returned and sudo blkid does not list /dev/sda1 anywhere. There is a reason partitions should be mounted by UUID and not by /dev/sdXY, because under certain circumstances the partition will not be found. Oh, and somewhat contrary to comment 0, my understanding of this bug is that most importantly, we want to toplist autocomplete results where nickname==searchstring (full string match). I have installed and tested all three kernels (v3.13.10, v3.13.11.1 and v3.13.11.2) by rebooting and selecting the kernel version at the grub menu. [Bug 1313200] Re: package squidguard 1.5-2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
When upgrading to trusty, this error has hit me, too. After some investigation I figured that there are some flaws in /usr/sbin/update-squidgard, which is called during the configure phase on install/update. 1) update-squidguard calls a su - proxy squidguard ... at the end to rebuild the database. This fails with Rebuild SquidGuard database - this can take a while. This account is currently not available. That's no surprise because the proxy user was created previously with proxy:x:13:13:proxy:/bin:/usr/sbin/nologin The invocation of su checks for a valid shell, which /usr/sbin/nologin isn't. 2) update-squidguard tries to restart squid at the very end, but actually fails to do so, because it checks for appropriate init.d files. With squid3 (3.3.8-1ubuntu6) there aren't any, because this package is already upstart enabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313200 Title: package squidguard 1.5-2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squidguard/+bug/1313200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1330146] Re: Sabnzbdplus has problems with WIN RAR 5 files
Sabnzbd+ versions = 0.7.17 have (basic) support for rar5 format, when used alongside unrar = 5. The latter is available in trusty/14.04 and newer; the former isn't in Ubuntu as yet but will be uploaded to Debian in time for utopic/14.10. On older Ubuntu releases, neither is available out of the box in a sufficiently new version. That means you will have to find or create a (private) backport. [Bug 1272429] Re: Trusty daily live ISOs will not boot; Waiting for network configuration
I had managed to get 14.04 on to this laptop eventually by installing Lubuntu 13.10, then upgrading 13.10 to 14.04. On reboot this did not boot to a running system, even if I attempted to boot to a command-line by adding boot option text to the kernel line of grub; it just froze the same as when trying to install from CD or USB. I therefore booted to the most recent 3.11.0-19 kernel that I had from saucy from grub menu, completely uninstalled kernels 3.13.0-## and rebooted into the successful 3.11.0-19 again. I have just upgraded as requested above to the kernel which is the default for today of 3.13.0-51 and rebooted to the exact same problem of a total freeze. For now I have given up on getting the 3.13 kernel to work on this hardware combination (see above for details) and will continue with the 3.11.0-## kernel, which for the time being at least, is working well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272429 Title: Trusty daily live ISOs will not boot; Waiting for network configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1272429/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1306849] Re: Printing error
This occurs when I attempt to print from Firefox or Thunderbird. I am using a networked Brother HL5370DW black-and-white laser printer. I have tried both the drivers supplied with Xubuntu as well as the .debs and .PPD downloaded from the Brother website, both produce the same result. Printing a straight text file via 'lpr' works. Printing from Chrome works too. So does printing a text document generated in LibreOffice. Evidently the printer gets detected just fine. Will attach cups error log. I can't reproduce the problem consistently, but it seems to happen when I'm printing emails from my gmail account. Ill attach an example. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306849 Title: Printing error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1306849/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1330258] [NEW] Some Default programs disappeared and Unity disappeared after restart
Public bug reported: I am reporting this bug two days after it occurred and I was able to fix it, so some things might be vague. I believe this issue is connected with my accidental install of virtualbox virtualbox-4.3_4.3.12-93733~Ubuntu~raring_i386 instead of the appropriate virtualbox-4.3_4.3.12-93733~Ubuntu~raring_amd64 for my system. I after I uninstalled the i386 version, when I went I clicked on the .deb package in my download folder, ubuntu software center seemed to open but there were several odd occurrences. Instead of the usual icon on the sidebar (an orange grocery bag with a white A), I got a ? mark icon. I was also unable to install virtuabox amd64. When I went to open the terminal with the keyboard shortcut ctrl+alt+T, instead of receiving the usual gnome terminal, XTerm opened instead. When I tried searching for terminal in the unity search, Xterm and UXterm were the only options. For an unrelated reason I needed terminal, I then tried to open the Transmission bittorrent client but I noticed it was missing as well. That was when I tried to open Ubuntu Software Center directly and was unable to find it. After that, I decided to reboot the system. I did so via the power button on the bar in the top right corner. When the computer restarted, I was greeted with my usual password prompt. However when I logged in the only thing I was greeted with was my desktop and the files I had on it. There was no sidebar or bar at the top. None of the typical shortcuts worked (ctr+alt+T, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), but the the ctrl+alt+delete shortcut I had set to open the system monitor did. I restarted a few times with the physical reset button on my tower. After some research, I logged in after a restarted and used the ctrl+alt+F1 to go access terminal. I installed the unity-tweak-tool and ran unity-tweak-tool --reset-unity and the sudo reboot. After I logged back in, Unity had returned. I had to reinstall Ubuntu Software Center from Xterm and reinstall gnome terminal and transmission. Everything seems back to normal now however the system monitor appearance is different. The border around it is different and there's no background when I go to the resources tab, making it hard to read. [Bug 1330259] [NEW] Sony 72 Display Causing Crash on Re-awake
Public bug reported: I have hooked up my computer to two monitors. I have a ASUS graphics card with an HDMI and a DVI port. I have a DVI to HDMI adapter, so I have hooked that up to two Samsung 22 monitors through the HDMI inputs. This works fine. But whenever I hook up the second monitor to my Sony 72 TV to watch movies on through the HDMI input, then we have issues. I have my Power settings to go to sleep after 30 minutes. So we'll be watching a movie on the tv streamed through a browser, and then after 30 minutes the computer will go to sleep. This is ok, but when I try to wake up the computer it seems frozen, and then shows a bunch of messages I can't understand on a black screen.
