[Bug 1300367] Re: rsync 3.1.0 and 3.0.9 incompatibility

2014-06-20 Thread Nick Craig-Wood
I can confirm this problem.

It seems to be due to a miscompilation of rsync and the zlib library

https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10372

Trying the transfer without -z / --compress works fine.

The bug seems to show itself when transferring big files ( 1.5GB in my
case)

I think this should be fixed urgently!

[Bug 1242376] Re: reload php5-fpm crashes

2014-06-20 Thread Tom Fotherby
We ran into this bug while upgrading our servers from 12.04 LTS to 14.04
LTS. It is serious for us. When we deploy our app, we need to do
`service php5-fpm reload` so that the php opcode cache is flushed,
otherwise old files will still be served. Doing a `php5-fpm restart`
isn't a option as it does not handle existing connections gracefully.

We would really really appreciate for this bug to be fixed in the Ubuntu
repos. It is really not a good bug to have in a LTS release for folks
who run PHP. It will catch many people out.

[Bug 1325746] Re: dpkg-reconfigure doesn't work as expected

2014-06-20 Thread Scott Moser
Danieru,
  I just uploaded this fix.
  An SRU team member will review it and release it into trusty-proposed.
  After that, it needs verification and then will et into trusty-updates.

StableReleaseProcess is described in detail at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates
You can help by verifying it when it *does* get into trusty-proposed.

2014-06-20 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Julian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted maas into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/1.5.2+bzr2282-0ubuntu0.2 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in

[Bug 1321885] Re: IMPI detection and automatic setting fail in ubuntu 14.4 maas

2014-06-20 Thread Hamed Hemmati
I am having problem with Dell servers too. Just like Juan I decided to
go back to 12.04 but ended up with JuJu just not working properly so now
I am back to 14.04 trying to figure out why the Dell servers don't get
their power type set. The only Dell server that did get its power type
set was poweredge 2950 all the other ones have issues for me. Even if I
set the power type manually they still don't startup.

[Bug 1324685] Re: gem file access problem

2014-06-20 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1321885] Re: IMPI detection and automatic setting fail in ubuntu 14.4 maas

2014-06-20 Thread Hamed Hemmati
I tried but I just had too many issues with juju and 12.04. So far the
only issue I have with 14.04 is the fact that some of my poweredge
servers aren't getting their power type set. Other than that juju seems
to work fine on the other ones.

I rather just get the power type issue resolved and take advantage of
the new maas features than go back to 12.04 and have to upgrade in 6
months.

[Bug 1291321] Re: migration fails between 12.04 Precise and 14.04 Trusty

Hi Matt,

some feeble attempts at that were made, but the result was deemed too
fragile. The safest option is to shut down the VMs, change the machine

Yeah I was able to bootstrap just fine on the dell server that got its
power type set. I haven't tested charms yet because I can't get any of
my other dell servers to startup since their power types aren't getting

Juju has just evolved too much to be compatible with maas that comes

[Bug 1332418] [NEW] Fail to report a crash

2014-06-20 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Utopic i386 logged with gnome-shell and booted with systemd

That latest apport-gtk does not report a crash: when the crash file is
selected to be reported with apport, the process start as usual and the
crash details can be viewed. Then when 'continue' is clicked, nothing
happen: usually the browser is loaded if not already done (chromium-
browser default here on that pc), then the launchpad login is called.
But that time the process seems silently died.

[Bug 1332420] [NEW] IPv6 multicast broken in kernel

2014-06-20 Thread Radek Zajic
Public bug reported:

Dear all,

a regression has been introduced in Linux Kernels by patch
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/efe4208f47f907

The regression behaves in a way that when there are multiple IPv6
sockets created with multicast/link-local addresses on the same
interface, handling of the packets is broken. (Reported e. g. on
http://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg286344.html)

This can be reproduced by
1. installing Ubuntu 14.04 with default kernel
2. installing dibbler-server and configuring with basic dhcpv6 settings (hand
out one subnet), for example:
/etc/dibbler/server.conf:
log-level 8
preference 0
iface IFACE {
 t1 1800-2000
 t2 2700-3000
 prefered-lifetime 3600
 valid-lifetime 7200
 subnet 2001:db8:abcd::/64
 class {
pool 2001:db8:abcd::1000-2001:db8:abcd::1fff
 }
 ta-class {
pool 2001:db8:abcd::2000-2001:db8:abcd::2fff
 }
 option dns-server 2001:db8:abcd::1
}

3. get a DHCPv6 client and request addresses from the server
4. view the packets on the interface affected, use e.g.: tcpdump -i IFACE
'(udp port 546)||(udp port 547)' -n
There will be multicast DHCPv6 solicits, however no DHCPv6 responses, as
Dibbler creates two sockets on the same interface (multicast socket first,
link-local socket next).

There is a patch available in the upstream, that will be probably merged
to 3.15.2 kernel (it is not present in current 3.15.1 vanilla kernel) -
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/352246/

When applying this patch to trusty-proposed linux-
image-3.13.0-30-generic_3.13.0-30.54 from Git repositories at git clone
git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-trusty.git and recompiling the
kernel, everything starts to work as expected.

Please apply this patch ASAP to fix IPv6 multicast, there is more and
more IPv6 in the wild and this bug is a serious one.

The fill pattern is created with Inkscape and then exported as PDF
(source file, and PDF, EPS and PNG export appended).

Observed behavior:

Acrobat Reader and Okular render the fill pattern correctly from the
PDF. In Evince and in the Nautilus preview, the fill pattern does not
appear in the PDF. The fill pattern is rendered correctly from an EPS
(Screenshots attached).

Expected behavior:

The file and preview look the same in all viewers. In particular, the

[Bug 994931] Re: Altering use_tempaddr drops all IPv6 addresses

2014-06-20 Thread Trent Lloyd
Just ran into this here. I set use_tempaddr=0 in my sysctl.conf, and
was very confused why my IPv6 wasn't coming up on boot. Can confirm
this is why.

This really needs to be fixed as it breaks IPv6 on boot.

[Bug 1332435] [NEW] no sound effects even when they are installed

2014-06-20 Thread Sasa Paporovic
Public bug reported:

On usind the system-settings - sound - Sound effects, there is no
opprtunity to select any sound effect(alerts) other than the default
one, even when they are sound themes installed to the system, lke
fredesktop, moblin, and others.

A screenshot is taken and shows the /usr/locale/share/soundfolder
with the installed sound themes(installed by default and with software-
center) in the background and the sound effects tab of the system-
settings in foreground.

Expected:

There should be more to choose in system-settings - sound - sound
effects , when sound themes are installed to the system.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Call sofware-center and install a sound theme like moblin
2.Call nautilus and check the directory /usr/locale/share/sound for the
available sound themes.
3.Call system-settings - sound - sound effects and see that there is nothing
more to choose than the default alert(especially nothing more than the alert
itself; a little poor for a sound effect tab, isn't it?!)

[Bug 1310406] Re: [regression] Trusty kernel doesn't recognize GeForce 8600m GT nor with nouveau or nvidia drivers

2014-06-20 Thread Gianluca Bertaina
I also have a 5920g with Nvidia 8600m GT. My video card has not been
working since kernel 2.6.32, I had to use the pci=bios directive in grub
(see bug 661248). Even so it seldomly hangs at boot time.

@Marco Trevisan : how did you manage to update the bios? The bios
installer on the ACER website works only in Windows.

[Bug 1332420] Re: IPv6 multicast broken in kernel

2014-06-20 Thread Radek Zajic
Unfortunately, links browser does not present me with a Log in button
during apport-collect authorization, therefore I cannot add the details
to this bug. Therefore changing the status of the bug to 'Confirmed' as
suggested.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Dear all,

  a regression has been introduced in Linux Kernels by patch
  https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/efe4208f47f907

  The regression behaves in a way that when there are multiple IPv6
  sockets created with multicast/link-local addresses on the same
  interface, handling of the packets is broken. (Reported e. g. on
  http://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg286344.html)

  This can be reproduced by
  1. installing Ubuntu 14.04 with default kernel
  2. installing dibbler-server and configuring with basic dhcpv6 settings (hand
out one subnet), for example:
  /etc/dibbler/server.conf:
  log-level 8
  preference 0
  iface IFACE {
   t1 1800-2000
   t2 2700-3000
   prefered-lifetime 3600
   valid-lifetime 7200
   subnet 2001:db8:abcd::/64
   class {
  pool 2001:db8:abcd::1000-2001:db8:abcd::1fff
   }
   ta-class {
  pool 2001:db8:abcd::2000-2001:db8:abcd::2fff
   }
   option dns-server 2001:db8:abcd::1
  }

  3. get a DHCPv6 client and request addresses from the server
  4. view the packets on the interface affected, use e.g.: tcpdump -i IFACE
'(udp port 546)||(udp port 547)' -n
  There will be multicast DHCPv6 solicits, however no DHCPv6 responses, as
Dibbler creates two sockets on the same interface (multicast socket first,
link-local socket next).

  There is a patch available in the upstream, that will be probably merged
  to 3.15.2 kernel (it is not present in current 3.15.1 vanilla kernel) -
  http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/352246/

  When applying this patch to trusty-proposed linux-
  image-3.13.0-30-generic_3.13.0-30.54 from Git repositories at git clone
  git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-trusty.git and recompiling the
  kernel, everything starts to work as expected.

- Please apply this patch ASAP to fix IPv6 multicast, there is more and
- more IPv6 in the wild and this bug is a serious one.

[Bug 1332437] [NEW] [Dell Inspiron 5547] Unable to contorl brightness with fglrx driver on AMD Radeon R7 M260 [1002:6900]

2014-06-20 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201401-14542 Dell Inspiron 5547

This issue is similar to bug 1332379, but with I+A config,
Brightness cannot be controlled without the open-source driver as well.

Steps:
1. Install 14.04 + update (3.13.0-29) + fglrx
2. Try to adjust the screen brightness with hotkeys and Brightness and Lock
applet

Expected result:
* Screen brightness could be adjusted in both ways.

Actual result:
* Unable to control screen brightness, the brightness indicator would change
according to key press on the hotkeys

Debugging information:

[Bug 1332436] [NEW] Cannot upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04

2014-06-20 Thread Nick
Public bug reported:

Cannot upgrade from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04

When I try to upgrade I see (Russian text):

Не удалось рассчитать обновление системы

Обнаружена неразрешимая проблема при расчёте обновления.

 Это может быть вызвано тем, что:
 * Обновление до пре-релиза Ubuntu
 * Использование текущей пре-релиз версии Ubuntu
 * Неофициальное ПО, не предоставляемое Ubuntu

Если ничего из перечисленного не подходит, сообщите об этой ошибке,
выполнив команду «ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core» в терминале.

All non-official repositories are off.
