[Bug 1308037] Re: No results from application scope
@Mateusz: Your dbus log is pretty much the same as Pawel's, it says that activation of the application scope timed out, but doesn't provide any indication why. The bustle log captured only the first 30 seconds of the startup process (as the upstart script tells it to), and in that time scopes didn't even begin starting up. You could try bumping the timeout to 90 seconds, and that might provide more data, but I'm afraid it still won't point to why is the apps scope startup taking that long. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308037 Title: No results from application scope To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libunity/+bug/1308037/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1332578] [NEW] When clicking the Files icon in the Unity launcher, instead of switching to the already opened nautilus window, a new nautilus window is opened
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: 14.04 LTS Nautilus version: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.1 Unity version: 7.2.1+14.04.20140513-0ubuntu2 Sometimes, when you already have a nautilus window opened and you switch to another application, if you the click Files icon in the Unity launcher to switch back to that nautilus window, a new nautilus window is opened instead simply showing the nautilus window that was already opened. Steps to reproduce problem: 0. Close all nautilus windows. 1. Click on the Files icon in the Unity launcher to open a new nautilus window. 2. On the left pane of nautilus, under the Devices section, open a partition or hard drive of your computer which is not the root partition of your Ubuntu installation. 3. Switch to any other application (such as the Caculator or a Terminal window) using the Unity launcher. 4. Click on the Files icon in the Unity launcher to switch back to the nautilus window that you had opened. Expected behaviour: The nautilus window opened in step 1 is focused. Actual behaviour: A new nautilus window is opened. The problem can be reproduced by the following steps as well: 0. Make sure no nautilus window is opened. 1. Click on the Trash icon in the Unity launcher. 2. Click on the Files icon in the Unity laucher. Expected behaviour: The nautilus window which opened when the Trash icon was clicked is focused. Actual behaviour: A new nautilus window is opened. The reason I believe that the bug lies within nautilus is because I tried the first set of steps with the Thunar file browser and the problem did not occur. However, it could be a bug within the Unity launcher as well. Comment #15 in the upstream bug report links to a couple of commits which should fix the issue with asio. [Bug 1292398] Re: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another
@gord: What your company is doing is their decision, not a lot we can do. Changing OS over a bug doesn't seems like a rationnal decision, your company could have looked at this issue, and contributed a fix for likely a lot less of efforts than it's going to take them to change systems on a thousand mahcines. It might be that Mint is going to have the same bug next time they update/rebase on Ubuntu (they are based on it after all), in which case you handle a transition for an OS which is having a less strong security and support story, good luck with that. Not sure about the numbers, we don't track users/installations nor collect datas. [Bug 1332584] Re: Language selection isn't quite alphabetical
It's because of this in the spec (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LanguageAndText#phone-language): The variation that has the unprefixed language code (or an equivalent) should be sorted first. For example, en_US = en = “English (US)” (not “U. S. English”), nl = “Nederlands (Nederland)”. (This avoids hiding the most common variation amongst many others.) [Bug 953875] Re: Encrypted swap no longer mounted at bootup
I've got a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04, amd64 here and the same issue came up - no swap being mounted although the boot drive (an SSD) has tree partitions (all created during install): the main partition /dev/sda1 and two smaller ones /dev/sda3, /dev/sda5 , one of the smaller ones /dev/sda5 being identified as swap space. UUIDs in crypttab and fstab (the commented out one) and the other one don't match. Fix was: Use drive name instead of UUID in crpyttab. Replaced UUID in crpyttab with /dev/sda5 and after a reboot, swap was there. So the issue seems to be that the UUID of the swap is being overwritten each time on boot and changes (there's a fix for that, with offset=0, somewhere in bugs here). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/953875 Title: Encrypted swap no longer mounted at bootup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/953875/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, some windows will just open with the decoration under the Panel such as virt-manager. This can cause confusion for the user on how to move the window and how to close it. This can be very disruptive to a user's workflow. [Test case] 1. Install virt-manager. 2. Make sure no other windows are open. 3. Start virt-manager. virt-manager should start in the top left. With this fix, the decoration should be visible. [Regression potential] None identified. * Debdiff is found at https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1303462/+attachment/4134214/+files /compiz-trusty-sru.debdiff * Original description: Windows with a height of (Display Height - Panel Height) get placed at y=0 (behind the top panel) which means window titlebars are not reachable without alt-moving the window. I assume this happens with windows that want to resize themselves if their height exceeds the display resolution. Reproducable on my 1366x768 screen with LibreOffice and a Qt 5 desktop application I'm working on. TEMPORARY WORKAROUND: Use the Cntrl+SuperKey+Right or Left Arrow Key This will resize your currently focused window to occupy the Right (Left) half of the screen. The Title Bar should now be visible, so you need to drag it and resize it at your prefered position. This will save the new position in place of the previously hidden state. [Bug 1332615] [NEW] 'ALPS Touchpad' incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse in 'Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14'
Public bug reported: Laptop Model: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 Model Name: 20308 Touchpad Manufacturer: ALPS - listed as such in dmesg, not confirmed and not specified by manufacturer The touchpad is incorrectly detected by the kernel during Ubuntu 14.04 x64 installation. The touchpad never worked correctly. It is only able to register button clicks and move the mouse pointer. Scroll, taps, multitouch, etc are not available and do not show as available option. Synclient -l returns Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded? Actually, anywhere I looked, the touchpad is just listed as a PS/2 Generic Mouse. I also used dkms to install the extra ALPS v7 kernel module from he1per /psmouse-dkms-alpsv7 on GitHub. Still, the kernel was not able to detect the touchpad and enable any of its functions. I have included the required debug logs in the attached debug_logs.tar.gz file. This bug has been confirmed on AskUbuntu by several users and several unanswered support requests. [Bug 1332623] [NEW] Thunar behaves inconsistently with USB flash drive FAT32 partitions
Public bug reported: I installed Xubuntu 14.04 and performed no customizations or reconfigurations. Observation: Thunar 1.6.3 (File Manager from menu) on Xubuntu 14.04 handles write permission to inserted USB flash drives inconsistently: * I am able to create a nil file on the flash drive with Thunar and edit it. Clearly, the flash drive is not read-only. * Using Thunar, I cannot copy an existing file (E.g. ~/.profile) and paste it on the flash drive - destination is read-only (not true!). * However, in a terminal window, `cp` with the flash drive as a destination succeeds. I tried this on drives by different manufacturers and with differing capacities and on two different Xubuntu 14.04 installations. There might be a configuration change for Thunar to allow paste to flash drives. If so, this should be enabled when Thunar is installed as this behaviour is what users expect.
