Ok, changed the spread to make applications invisible when they're either outside the screen on the right, or covered by other apps in spread mode. It's not just the network usage that's a problem here, but the memory and processing overhead on the client. The first point can be addressed on the server side by embedding clickindex:package resources in the department response. This is, in fact, the long-term plan. There was an unfortunate mix-up in terminology that led to browsing search results by department being misinterpreted as browsing for arbitrary packages by department - the former of which is not currently supported, the latter being expressly permitted - and so this embedding was de-scoped for RTM. I'm happy to do the work to support it now, with the caveat that pagination support will be added later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1337864 Title: Apps missing in some store categories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scope-click/+bug/1337864/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1316265] Re: Maximized Window's Title Bar Does Not Merge into Menu Bar after Performing Super+W (window spread) filtering
Same problem here. I have seen the same behavior described in #7. The title bar problem occurs when I use spread (Super+W), type something until only 1 window appears, and select it (using either keyboard or mouse). This breaks the title bar integration with the top panel for all windows (even those not maximized, visible when I then try to maximize them) EXCEPT for the window that I selected in spread mode. This happens with both global menu and locally integrated menus. The fix is easy for me, though. Just open the spread mode (Super+W) and select any window or press Escape, and the problem is fixed for all windows. Also, I've seen the title in the top bar sometimes appear below the close/minimize/maximize (with locally integrated menus, at least) after using the spread mode. But it's not very consistent (and it's probably a different bug). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316265 Title: Maximized Window's Title Bar Does Not Merge into Menu Bar after Performing Super+W (window spread) filtering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1316265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1061852] Re: Unity Application Lens slow to load
This is still a problem in 14.04. It takes a long time for the applications to appear in the dash, when it should be instantaneous. I have noticed that, after login, if I open the Alt+F2 scope (commands scope?), it seem that the applications/commands appear faster there. After that, opening the Dash with the Super key is fast. According to ps aux, the command that is executed when the Alt+F2 scope is opened appears to be: /usr/bin/unity-scope-loader applications/applications.scope applications/scopes.scope commands.scope If I execute this command in a terminal after login, then wait some seconds and open the Dash, the applications show a lot faster (under 2 seconds if the hard drive is not busy). So, a workaround could be to add that command to the startup applications. I'm using this now (I added a delay of 30 seconds), and it seems to work. It crashed after the first reboot, though, but it didn't happen again. As said in #8, I think the applications lens (and the other local ones?) should be preloaded at startup (in a way that doesn't slow down the boot/login process). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1061852 Title: Unity Application Lens slow to load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1061852/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1341167] Re: freezes while draging a window from a workspace
I though about it but I don't really think it's related to some package (other than those defaults responsible for display or something like that.) ...I can try to explain more; It's not that the computer hangs because of RAM or because of heavy processor duty. It's kind of a glitch. When it happens, the processor lamp isn't busy (isn't flickering quickly, but instead just flickers once in about 5 seconds). Actually the bug can happen with just Google Chrome open. It can even happen without expo mode. The mouse can move freely but Ubuntu doesn't comply to its commands. Sometimes, when the bug happens, the mouse has the shape of the closed fist and the shape wouldn't go back to normal. [Bug 1341544] [NEW] Winbind: domain user doesn't login on Ubuntu server 14.4
Public bug reported: I set up successfully an Ubuntu server 12.4.4 to be a Member Serve of the Windows Domain and to allow Domain Users to login. I created an Ubuntu 14.4 server to test with the same purpose and I tried to set up with the same way, but I cannot login to the server with a domain user. Ubuntu server 14.4 can read the list of domain user and domain group via wbinfo-u and wbinfo-g command like in Ubuntu server 12.4.4. The wbinfo-t command indicates successful communication via rpc between Ubuntu server 14.4 and the Domain Controller. The interesting thing is when I installed the Samba and Winbind packets (apt-get install samba winbind), the PAM configuration files (common- account, common-auth, common-session) in /etc/pam.d/ are automatically set up in Ubuntu server 12.4.4, but in Ubuntu 14.4 are not. Below are the list files configured automatically in Ubuntu server 12.4.4 and adjusted manually in Ubuntu 14.4: /etc/pam.d/common-account account [success=2 new_authtok_reqd=done default=ignore]pam_unix.so account [success=1 new_authtok_reqd=done default=ignore]pam_winbind.so account requisite pam_deny.so account requiredpam_permit.so /etc/pam.d/common-auth auth[success=2 default=ignore] pam_unix.so nullok_secure auth[success=1 default=ignore] pam_winbind.so krb5_auth krb5_ccache_type=FILE cached_login try_first_pass authrequisite pam_deny.so authrequiredpam_permit.so /etc/pam.d/common-session session [default=1] pam_permit.so session requisite pam_deny.so session requiredpam_permit.so session optionalpam_umask.so session requiredpam_unix.so session requiredpam_mkhomedir.so skel=/etc/skel/ umask=0022 session optionalpam_winbind.so I proceeded with the installation of Kerberos (apt-get install krb5-user libkrb5-3) in the same way that I performed on active Ubuntu server 12.4.4. Because I have not succeeded to login in the test server, I decided to recreate the active server (Ubuntu server 12.4.4) and upgrade him with the command do-release-upgrade-d. Despite I succeeded to install and set up the server test Ubuntu server 12.4.4the problem reappeared after the upgrade. I could no longer access the server with a domain user while still able to read the list of users and groups via wbinfo-u and wbinfo-g command. I installed libnss-winbind package (apt-get install libnss-winbind) and then I get success to login to the server with a domain user. Noteworthy that with a clean install of Ubuntu server 14.4, the installation of this library did not solved the problem. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: winbind -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341544 Title: Winbind: domain user doesn't login on Ubuntu server 14.4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1341544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1324059] Re: file save dialog fails to confirm overwrite existing file
I will file a bug with Qt if you insist, but I think they are already claiming it is not their responsibility, since it is a native dialog, that is, provided by the platform's window system, i.e. GTK. So I think it would make more sense to file the bug with the GTK project? If you agree, I will gladly file that bug. I already filed a related bug with Qt: https://bugreports.qt- project.org/browse/QTBUG-38985. (That bug report says that the Save dialog emits too many signals. It is a related bug because it uses the same dialog, although the symptoms are different.) The Qt project already closed that bug, saying the Qt implemented dialog works fine, only the native dialog (implemented by GTK) is broken. Which is the same situation for this bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1324059 Title: file save dialog fails to confirm overwrite existing file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1324059/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1341475] Re: Ubuntu 14.04:linux-crashdump pckg is missing from ubuntu repository
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1341475/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1304434] Re: indicator-printers not working on Ubuntu 14.04
Anyone still affected by this bug please put on this new bug report which I've opened because no one on the Ubuntu Dev Team will be receiving updates from this current bug until enough of us report this issue is still happening on a NEW bug report - see comment #30 in this bug report. I hope that someone in ubuntu's dev team will respond. The more of us that say this bug is still affecting us the sooner we'll get help.
