[Bug 1271188] Re: maas-import-ephermerals provides no feedback on progress

Although amd64/trusty is the current priority, downloading based on the
current MaaS default series or allowing to specify the priority
arch/series as an option would be ideal.

[Bug 1329939] Re: Service ssh stop/start/restart hangs

2014-07-26 Thread Axel
Hi,

I have quite the same problem.
Only after a reboot the sshd is running, working and accepting connections.

Whatever I try:
 stop ssh,
 restart ssh,
 start ssh
or with service like:
 service ssh stop/start/restart
or with /etc/init.d/ssh, which isn't doing anything.

the daemon ist (maybe) started, but NOT accepting connections.

the command: start ssh
does NOT return. and ssh ist not started/running.
I have to press ^C, then the the service is started! wtf?!?!
and shows up with:/usr/sbin/sshd -D

but in this state it is not accepting connections.
I tries all combinations and methods.
nothing is working.

funny thing:
when i start it with: start ssh
the command returns, nothing is really started (ps -ef shows nothing)

BUT when i say: service ssh status

this happens:
ssh start/running, process 11633
ssh start/running, process 11633
[1]+ Donestart ssh

now sshd ist started AND accepting connections!
this really is a bug!
its the only way to start/restart the daemon without reboot :(

best regards
 axel

[Bug 1348972] [NEW] When I try connect to server with vsftpd 3.0.2 from new 14.04lts distr i see error : libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work

Public bug reported:

I upgrade my system from 12.04 to 14.04 and when i try connect from ftp client
i see error :
libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work

I use mysql for auth users. This config work from ubuntu 8.04. I only
add small changed for work with new version 3.0.2 like
(allow_writeable_chroot=YES) for example.

I find resolve this problem on the sites:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2218804
http://askubuntu.com/questions/126625/libgcc-s-so-1-must-be-installed-for-pthread-cancel-to-work

I install patched version vsftpd from link (see above) and hold upgrade

[Bug 1307265] Re: installation hangs if postgres is not listening on default port

2014-07-26 Thread Ubfan
The Postgresql 9.3 update to Ubuntu 14.04 improperly changed the default
port from 5432 to 5433.

Historically, port 5432 has been the default Postgresql port. Some update in
14.04 of Postgresql to 9.3.4-1 apparently decided to use 5433 as the default
port. This change breaks things because header files like postgresql.conf have
the default,5432, wired into them as both strings and numbers, so while psql
will work on the new default port, existing compiled programs using
ecpg preprocessing fail and recompiling/reinking does not fix the problem
either (because of the header files with the old default).
(Assuming everything was using the default, when no PGPORT environment variable
has been explicitly set).

If you are going to change the port default, you have to do a complete
job of altering all the header files, and at least warn users that the
new Postgresql upgrade may require a recompile/relink of existing
programs.

A workaround to the ecpg programs (and anything else relying on the
headers) is to explicitly set the environment variable PGPORT to 5433,
just as if a non-default port is being used. The whole point of a
default is that's what you get when you don't specify anything. A
better workaround is to edit the 5433 back to 5432 in the
postgresql.conf file, and restart.

The suggested fix is to NOT change the default port from 5432 in the
first place.

[Bug 390396]

2014-07-26 Thread Michael
Git commit 00d66fec7aae9d50c46a68099a5189094cd1164e by Michael Palimaka, on
behalf of Vishesh Handa.
Committed on 27/06/2014 at 11:32.
Pushed by palimaka into branch 'KDE/4.14'.

UserAccount KCM: Change the name using the AccountManager

Instead of calling chfn, parsing its output (which depends on the
version of chfn which is present) and also additionally requires the
password.

This is also much more secure since we aren't storing the password in
memory.

This is a major bug - ability to display any kind of typeface correctly
is a must for any office productivity software, and LibreOffice
unfortunately lacks severely in this area, especially on OS X platform.

Raising importance to major if no objection.

[Bug 1348883] [NEW] Password field on login does not respond to keyboard

2014-07-26 Thread Kanter
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

After closing my laptop and reopening it again, Ubuntu asks for my
password. The input field is selected, but when I type nothing happens.
Clicking around and back on the input also has no effect.

I could solve it so far in 2 ways; restart, and select 'switch user'.

On the second approach I found that the text I had entered now appeared in the
text editor that was open, when I closed the laptop.
Further info: this was an online text editor ( Just checked, also occurs when
closing with this specific inout field (in which I'm currently entering this
text) selected).
Problem doesn't occur in Sublime Text, haven't checked other text editors.

Reason I select this as a safety threat; I am inputting my Password
unknowingly on an online form...

[Bug 1167309]

2014-07-26 Thread Nthiebaud
Ubuntu font are not by default on Mac OSX
Installing Ubuntu fonts from http://font.ubuntu.com/#charset-light
does _not_ install a 'Ubuntu Light' font. but a 'Ubuntu' font with a 'light'
variation the same way that it has a Bold/Italic variations
My Mac does not list that as a 'Ubuntu Light' font had LO show the font name in
italic as being 'substituted'.
The substitution chosen when the Ubuntu font is installed is Font Unbuntu,
TypeFace Light.
This can be seen in the attached screenshot where the first bullet line is
in 'Unbuntu Light' (Substituted) and the rest is put explicitly in Ubuntu,
typeface Light.

[Bug 1348888] [NEW] Unity-greeter mistakenly displays warning sign when you press Caps Lock that used for switching input language.

2014-07-26 Thread Mikhail V. Golubev
Public bug reported:

Caps Lock is used for switching input language (for switching between English
and Russian keyboard language in my case).
But when you press Caps Lock in the logon screen (unity-greeter) the warning
sign appears. This warning sign means that uppercase input mode (all capitals)
is activated. But actually it's not activated in this case, because Caps Lock
is used for switching input language.

Expected:
1. When you press Caps Lock keyboard switches to the next input language.
2. No warning signs appears.

What actually happens:
1. When you press Caps Lock keyboard switches to the next input language.
2. Warning sign (uppercase mode) appears.

[Bug 1348893] [NEW] Mail folder with asterisk (*) in name empty after upgrade to 14.04

2014-07-26 Thread Björn Schließmann
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 14.04 LTS from saucy, in thunderbird, a folder's
contents (subfolder of inbox) disappeared. In the folder pane, it was
shown twice.

Checking the folder files in the profile shows:

Original files, still present (first part of name changed for privacy reasons):
example*ma
example*ma.msf

Additionally, two files appeared:
example8ffcb1c0 (a directory, empty)
example8ffcb1c0.msf

Worked around by renaming manually in the file system.

Maybe what I mentioned above (unrelated to this bug) is due to the fix
to Bug #1170508. So, forget what I asked.

Just to repeat what I wrote 2 comments above: this bug is fixed for me.

[Bug 1348885] [NEW] Wrong numbering of pages in LibreOffice 4.2. on Linux Mint 17

2014-07-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm with Linux Mint 17 Qiana.
The LibreOffice is 4.2.
When I use the rulers to format some text - before or after numerate of the
pages of the whole document, the numbers of pages everywhere I moved the
paragraph with a ruler is always 1. The number of pages where I didn't use the
ruler continues like 2, 3,
But when I click Insert -- Footer -- Defaul Style and Insert -- Field --
Page Number at the end of the paperwork (when I complete all formatings), the
first page of the document becomes number 0, the second becomes number 1 etc...
I noticed something strange. When I numerate a pages in Microsoft Word and
after that when I use LibreOffice in the same way to format the text (with a
rulers), LibreIOffice makes mistake with the numerating of pages again, but
when I save this modified document and open it in Microsoft Office again, the
page numbering although previously it was wrong, now is write... Obviously the
reason is somewhere in the LibreOffice. In LibreOffice under Windows this bug
never happens.
This affects and Linux Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and Kubuntu 14.04. LTS...
It's happens always with all documents that I try to format. It's absurd to
can't format a document in 21'st century!

[Bug 1348902] [NEW] gnatbind error on aws-net-std__gnat.adb when using the installed package

2014-07-26 Thread Stephane Carrez
Public bug reported:

I have installed the GNAT compiler and the libaws2.10-2-dev (2.10.2-4)
on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with:

sudo apt-get install gnat-4.6 libaws2.10.2-dev libxmlada4.1-dev

When you try to use the library, you will get a gnatbind error:

I think the package must be rebuilt.

The following work arround worked for me:

- get the sources from http://packages.ubuntu.com/fr/trusty/libaws2.10.2
- run the command debuild -us -uc
- install the generated .deb packages

There is no need to change anything in [libaws_2.10.2-4.debian.tar.bz2],
just re-build.

Moving to Invalid. There is no problem with Ubuntu drivers/kernel and
the Advanced-N 6235 chip. This was the chip for the bug report of the
OP. If anyone has similar trouble with a different chip, they should
open a NEW bug report specifically for that chip.

[Bug 1153661] Re: The disk drive for /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 is not ready yet or not present

2014-07-26 Thread 2552nsf
More info, hope it helps:

With the default setup script with no changes, I get the error message
on boot and gparted shows /dev/sda5 as unknown, not linux-swap. This
is before reverting to unencrypted swap. After uncommenting the UUID
line and removing the cryptswap1 line in /etc/fstab, removing the entry
in /etc/crpyttab, and rebooting, I get a different error on boot saying
the disk at UUID=..number.. can't be mounted, instead of the
/dev/mapper/cryptswap1 error. Reformatting swap and rebooting fixes
this.

With offset=8, I still get the /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 error on boot, but
gparted shows /dev/sda5 as linux-swap, not unknown. Reverting
/etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab as above and rebooting results in no error
and a working unencrypted swap with no need to reformat it.

I tried offset=16 with the same results as offset=8. Also tried
replacing UUID with $swap in the script, with no offset, offset=8 and
offset=16, with no luck.

[Bug 1159145] Re: 8086:088e [Dell XPS 13 L322X] Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless connection crash with iwlwifi: fail to flush all tx fifo queues

2014-07-26 Thread Phil Elvey
Hi Luis and others, what model of wireless chip do you have?
If its an Intel Advanced-N 6235, please find my experience below of this
problem SOLVED:
I had exactly the same issue as described in this bug, with a 6235 wireless
chip in my laptop.
After a while, I became increasingly suspicious that it was a hardware issue,
not software/kernel/driver.
I bought a newer replacement 6235 chip, popped in my laptop, and the problem is
now solved.
This was on U 13.04, and I'm now on 14.04, and it has been running perfectly
ever since.
So there is definitely no problems with the kernel or driver in Ubuntu for this
chip. I can't comment for other chips, but if you have a 6235 chip, I would
strongly suggest purchasing a new replacement, fitting it, and you will find
your issues resolved.
