[Bug 1329939] Re: Service ssh stop/start/restart hangs
Hi, I have quite the same problem. Only after a reboot the sshd is running, working and accepting connections. Whatever I try: stop ssh, restart ssh, start ssh or with service like: service ssh stop/start/restart or with /etc/init.d/ssh, which isn't doing anything. the daemon ist (maybe) started, but NOT accepting connections. the command: start ssh does NOT return. and ssh ist not started/running. I have to press ^C, then the the service is started! wtf?!?! and shows up with:/usr/sbin/sshd -D but in this state it is not accepting connections. I tries all combinations and methods. nothing is working. funny thing: when i start it with: start ssh the command returns, nothing is really started (ps -ef shows nothing) BUT when i say: service ssh status this happens: ssh start/running, process 11633 ssh start/running, process 11633 [1]+ Donestart ssh now sshd ist started AND accepting connections! this really is a bug! its the only way to start/restart the daemon without reboot :( best regards axel -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1329939 Title: Service ssh stop/start/restart hangs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1329939/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1307265] Re: installation hangs if postgres is not listening on default port
The Postgresql 9.3 update to Ubuntu 14.04 improperly changed the default port from 5432 to 5433. Historically, port 5432 has been the default Postgresql port. Some update in 14.04 of Postgresql to 9.3.4-1 apparently decided to use 5433 as the default port. This change breaks things because header files like postgresql.conf have the default,5432, wired into them as both strings and numbers, so while psql will work on the new default port, existing compiled programs using ecpg preprocessing fail and recompiling/reinking does not fix the problem either (because of the header files with the old default). (Assuming everything was using the default, when no PGPORT environment variable has been explicitly set). If you are going to change the port default, you have to do a complete job of altering all the header files, and at least warn users that the new Postgresql upgrade may require a recompile/relink of existing programs. A workaround to the ecpg programs (and anything else relying on the headers) is to explicitly set the environment variable PGPORT to 5433, just as if a non-default port is being used. The whole point of a default is that's what you get when you don't specify anything. A better workaround is to edit the 5433 back to 5432 in the postgresql.conf file, and restart. The suggested fix is to NOT change the default port from 5432 in the first place. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307265 Title: installation hangs if postgres is not listening on default port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1307265/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1348883] [NEW] Password field on login does not respond to keyboard
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: After closing my laptop and reopening it again, Ubuntu asks for my password. The input field is selected, but when I type nothing happens. Clicking around and back on the input also has no effect. I could solve it so far in 2 ways; restart, and select 'switch user'. On the second approach I found that the text I had entered now appeared in the text editor that was open, when I closed the laptop. Further info: this was an online text editor ( Just checked, also occurs when closing with this specific inout field (in which I'm currently entering this text) selected). Problem doesn't occur in Sublime Text, haven't checked other text editors. [Bug 1348885] [NEW] Wrong numbering of pages in LibreOffice 4.2. on Linux Mint 17
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm with Linux Mint 17 Qiana. The LibreOffice is 4.2. When I use the rulers to format some text - before or after numerate of the pages of the whole document, the numbers of pages everywhere I moved the paragraph with a ruler is always 1. The number of pages where I didn't use the ruler continues like 2, 3, But when I click Insert -- Footer -- Defaul Style and Insert -- Field -- Page Number at the end of the paperwork (when I complete all formatings), the first page of the document becomes number 0, the second becomes number 1 etc... I noticed something strange. When I numerate a pages in Microsoft Word and after that when I use LibreOffice in the same way to format the text (with a rulers), LibreIOffice makes mistake with the numerating of pages again, but when I save this modified document and open it in Microsoft Office again, the page numbering although previously it was wrong, now is write... Obviously the reason is somewhere in the LibreOffice. In LibreOffice under Windows this bug never happens. This affects and Linux Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and Kubuntu 14.04. LTS... It's happens always with all documents that I try to format. It's absurd to can't format a document in 21'st century! ** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Aleksandar Tsanev (tsanew) Status: Confirmed -- Wrong numbering of pages in LibreOffice 4.2. on Linux Mint 17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1348885 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1153661] Re: The disk drive for /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 is not ready yet or not present
More info, hope it helps: With the default setup script with no changes, I get the error message on boot and gparted shows /dev/sda5 as unknown, not linux-swap. This is before reverting to unencrypted swap. After uncommenting the UUID line and removing the cryptswap1 line in /etc/fstab, removing the entry in /etc/crpyttab, and rebooting, I get a different error on boot saying the disk at UUID=..number.. can't be mounted, instead of the /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 error. Reformatting swap and rebooting fixes this. With offset=8, I still get the /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 error on boot, but gparted shows /dev/sda5 as linux-swap, not unknown. Reverting /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab as above and rebooting results in no error and a working unencrypted swap with no need to reformat it. I tried offset=16 with the same results as offset=8. Also tried replacing UUID with $swap in the script, with no offset, offset=8 and offset=16, with no luck. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1153661 Title: The disk drive for /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 is not ready yet or not present To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cryptsetup/+bug/1153661/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1159145] Re: 8086:088e [Dell XPS 13 L322X] Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless connection crash with iwlwifi: fail to flush all tx fifo queues
Hi Luis and others, what model of wireless chip do you have? If its an Intel Advanced-N 6235, please find my experience below of this problem SOLVED: I had exactly the same issue as described in this bug, with a 6235 wireless chip in my laptop. After a while, I became increasingly suspicious that it was a hardware issue, not software/kernel/driver. I bought a newer replacement 6235 chip, popped in my laptop, and the problem is now solved. This was on U 13.04, and I'm now on 14.04, and it has been running perfectly ever since. So there is definitely no problems with the kernel or driver in Ubuntu for this chip. I can't comment for other chips, but if you have a 6235 chip, I would strongly suggest purchasing a new replacement, fitting it, and you will find your issues resolved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1159145 Title: 8086:088e [Dell XPS 13 L322X] Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless connection crash with iwlwifi: fail to flush all tx fifo queues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1159145/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
