[Bug 1351237] [NEW] MAAS install breaks resolvconf
Public bug reported: Version: Ubuntu Server 14.04 with current packages Problem: After installing the maas package, the resolveconf functionality stops working. Use Case: The MAAS machine and all other commissioned machines are virtual machines running on KVM. In order to be able to resolve the commissioned machines by their machine names from the MAAS machine itself, the MAAS machine needs to look up 127.0.0.1 (i.e. its own MAAS DNS). In addition, it also needs to look up a second DNS server for the Intranet (i.e. so it can find my internal apt-get proxy). Workaround: Edit the /etc/hosts file and add all required machine references. A bit cumbersome but it works around the problem. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a default Ubuntu Server 14.04 machine with one NIC, which has a static IP address. Make sure that you specify two DNS servers of which 127.0.0.1 is the first in order. Below is an example /etc/network/interfaces file. Note: Adjust accordingly to suit your network. # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 10.100.10.150 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 10.100.10.0 broadcast 10.100.10.255 gateway 10.100.10.1 dns-nameservers 127.0.0.1 10.2.2.1 dns-search your.company.com 3. Restart the machine 4. Run cat /etc/resolv.conf and verify that it only shows 127.0.0.1 but not 10.2.2.1 Note: I guess this is working as designed? 5. Add the following line to the /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail file. Note: Adjust IP accordingly to suit your network. nameserver 10.2.2.1 6. Run sudo resolvconf -u 7. Run cat /etc/resolv.conf and verify that both DNS servers are listed 8. Ping a machine which gets resolved via the DNS server 10.2.2.1 to verify that resolvconf works. 9. Install MAAS sudo apt-get install maas 10. After the MAAS installation has finished, run cat /etc/resolv.conf and verify that it still shows both DNS server entries! 11. However, try to ping a machine which gets resolved via the second DNS server (i.e. 10.2.2.1). Note that the machine does not get resolved any more and as a result you get ping: unknown host. Attempted fix: I tried to fix this problem by re-installing resolvconf but this didn't make any difference. Attempted steps are outlined below. A1: Edited the /etc/hosts file and added a reference to my apt-get proxy server so that apt-get works A2. Run sudo apt-get remove --purge resolvconf sudo apt-get install resolvconf A3. Removed the previously added entry from the /etc/hosts file A4. Added the entry to the /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail file again A5. Restarted the machine A6. Tried to ping a machine, which gets resolved via DNS 10.2.2.1 but it was still not resolving the machine name. ** Affects: maas (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: maas resolvconf ** Description changed: Version: Ubuntu 14.04 Problem: After installing the maas package, the resolveconf functionality stops working. [Bug 1332900] Re: [Alienware 18, Realtek ALC668, Speaker, Internal] Playback problem
I am uncertain if HDA retask made permanent changes to the mapping? I chose boot override and then restarted. When relaunching hdajackretask i see that none of the overrides are checked. This sounds like a bug in hdajackretask. I still do not understand which nodes are for which speakers. This is what we need you to figure out. I suggest you try the following: Start hdajackretask and make sure show unconnected pins is checked. 1) Override all nodes to Not connected except the first one, which you set to Internal Speaker. Click Apply now. Verify that sound is not muted. Do a sound test and see if you hear anything. 2) Now, override all nodes to Not connected except the second one, which you set to Internal Speaker. Click Apply now. Verify that sound is not muted. Do a sound test and see if you hear anything. 3) Override all nodes to Not connected except the third one... ...and continue until you have tested all pins. If a pin can't be set to Internal Speaker because it does not show in the drop down, you can skip that pin. During testing, other I/O will disappear (Mic, Headphones etc). This is expected. If you at any point hear output from the primary speakers, let us know which node it was. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1332900 Title: [Alienware 18, Realtek ALC668, Speaker, Internal] Playback problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1332900/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1252733] Re: [XPS 12-9Q33, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left] Background noise or low volume
Hi and thanks for reporting and working on this bug! First thing to know is that different machines have different PCI SSIDs. For information about this, look at the PCI SSID section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/SameHardware If you have PCI SSID 1028:05fe or 1028:060a, the fix for the noise issue is upstream. You can test the daily drivers by following the instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS The original poster has PCI SSID 1028:05e3. If you have another PCI SSID, the first step is to post your alsa-info in this bug. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo - that will give us more information about your hardware, including your PCI SSID. You can also file a new bug using the ubuntu-bug audio command and give a notice in this bug with a link to a new bug. Hopefully I or some other audio developer will have time to look at it - but unfortunately I can't promise any quick response right now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252733 Title: [XPS 12-9Q33, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left] Background noise or low volume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1252733/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1346734] Re: Unprivileged LXC containers don't work under systemd
I have an unprivileged container setup in my test VM now, and they continue to work with 208. [Bug 1351267] [NEW] Installer Crashes With Large Memory And Small Disk
Public bug reported: I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS on an Oracle VirtualBox VM with 6.5GB of RAM and 8GB (default for a new Virtual HDD on VirtualBox) of disk space. I selected the option Erase disk and install Ubuntu (and post crash Erase Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and reinstall) and let it use the defaults. The installer gives the error: Some of the partitions you created are too small. Please make the following partitions at least this large: / 3.4 GB If you do not go back to the partitioner and increase the size of these partitions, the installation may fail. The message is very confusing to a new user who did not specify any partition sizes themselves. The installer created a 6GB Swap partition on the 8GB drive. The installer then could not install to the root partition and failed midway: The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk: [Errno 28] No space left on device This is due to there being insufficient disk space for the install to complete on the target partition. Please run the installer again and select a larger partition to install into. ..then a box appears stating that the installer has crashed: Installer crashed We're sorry; the installer crashed. After you close this window, we'll allow you to file a bug report using the integrated bug reporting tool. This will gather information about your system and your installation process. The details will be sent to our bug tracker and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. The box cannot be closed. No bug reporting tool launches. The computer requires restarting to become usable again. Please let me know if you need any more information as this is my first bug report. Public bug reported: Having installed lyx from the PPA, I find its ttf-lyx package duplicates rather than replaces Ubuntu's fonts-lyx package; the latter name appears now to be canonical, as several other packages depend on it. Hence, the PPA's package should be renamed, and it should be an upgrade to ttf-lyx. ** Affects: lyx (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1351283 Title: ttf-lyx package in PPA should be fonts-lyx To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lyx/+bug/1351283/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1307127] Re: Too slow to use, and feature missing!
The Low quality is a workaround for this issues. The version from Ubuntu 10.04 was much faster with similar high quality. Now, I switched to xnview, which in available in the GetDeb Apps from UbuntuUpdates.org. At least 10 times faster with the same quality. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307127 Title: Too slow to use, and feature missing!
