I hit this issue on my Unbuntu 14.10 installs as well but noticed it because I
was attempting to install an iso from a VIRTIO-SCSI CD-ROM device.

[[!!]] Detect and Mount CD-ROM
Your installation CD-ROM couldn't be mounted.

I also tried the same thing for VIRTIO-Block CD-ROM and it failed the
same way.

I then tried PAPR-SCSI CD-ROM and it works, but then it comes up and I
hit the issue described in this defect that no drives were detected. My
Drives are configured for virtio-scsi.

[Bug 1346703] Re: /var/log/maas/rsyslog has incorrect permission

2014-08-08 Thread Jonathan Davies
** Description changed:

  /var/log/maas/rsyslog/ is owned by maas:maas and has 755 permission
  after maas package installation. Therefore rsyslogd cannot write logs
  into the directory.

  How to reproduce:
- 1. prepare pristine trusty box
-  2. sudo apt-get install maas
+  1. prepare pristine trusty box
+  2. sudo apt-get install maas

  Expected result:
  /var/log/maas/rsyslog/ is owned by for example syslog:syslog.

  Actual result:
  $ ll /var/log/maas/rsyslog/
  drwxr-xr-x 2 maas maas 4096 Jul 22 01:13 ./
+
+ Workaround:
+
+ $ sudo chown -R syslog:syslog /var/log/maas/rsyslog

[Bug 1352570] Re: ovs-vswitchd crashed with SIGSEGV in nl_attr_get_size()

2014-08-08 Thread James Page
I've spoken with upstream about this and the commit identified probably
resolves this issue (testing on our internal cloud appears to confirm
this with packages from ppa:james-page/openvswitch).

I've requested a new point release, however if that does not appear in a
reasonable period of time, I'm proposing we take a snapshot of the
current tip of the 2.0 branch upstream and run with that.

[Bug 1354375] [NEW] lxc-snapshot destroys container

2014-08-08 Thread Dan McGrath
Public bug reported:

Was following instructions for lxc-snapshots at:

  https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/lxc.html

The problem I am reporting is that when I create a snapshot with:

  lxc-snapshot -n c1

which creates snap0 (snap1...snapN, etc.), after I try restore the
snapshot with:

  lxc-snapshot -r snap0 -n c1

lxc seems to happily remove snap0 and c1, thus destroying the entire
container. I would paste the output, but it was via a vbox vm and wasn't
easy to copy/paste the text, so I have attached a screenshot instead.

The release was 14.0.4.1 LTS with lxc 1.0.5-0ubuntu0.1. What I expected
was for the snapshot to first remove c1 and then rename snap0 to c1.
Seeing as how the c1 container was a LVM snapshot I can see that
removing c1 (the origin of snap0) might be the reason for it killing
snap0 and c1, but it seems a little unpexted, especially if this had
been more than a test.

Is this a real bug?

[Bug 1354069] Re: please merge php5 from debian

2014-08-08 Thread Robie Basak
5.6 is still a release candidate. Do we really want this in Utopic, or
should we update to the latest 5.5 instead?

I don't mean to suggest that I'm saying we should do one or the other. I
don't know - hence the question.

[Bug 1257186] Re: memory leakage messages

2014-08-08 Thread Marcos Jr
I want to stick with pam sync pwd funcionality.
Is there a way to get this fix through apt-get ?

```
samba:
  Installed: 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.3
libpam-smbpass:
  Installed: 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.3
[Bug 1354069] Re: please merge php5 from debian
2014-08-08 Thread LocutusOfBorg
We are in RC3, and I presume we are close to a release.
Accepting 5.6 RC3 now, and doing the transition will make the process in
updating to the final release much smoother.
BTW utopic won't likely be used for servers, so php usage can be quite
limited
[Bug 1354069] Re: please merge php5 from debian
2014-08-08 Thread Robie Basak
Are we going to get bunch of bugs filed after Utopic's release asking us
to update Utopic to 5.6 when it is released? If so, is somebody prepared
to go through and SRU each change between now and release, or are we
going to refuse to do it and stick to rc3 in Utopic forever?
Re: [Bug 1354375] [NEW] lxc-snapshot destroys container
2014-08-08 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug.  I'm afraid snapshotting is currently not
compatible with LVM.  In the short term we should simply refuse snapshots
for lvm-backed containers.  In the longer term, we'll need the lvm backing
store to provide a different naming scheme for snapshots, and its own
snapshot restoration algorithm.
[Bug 1354114] Re: multipath segmentation Fault (libmultipath: update waiter handling)
+  * Patch 1/4 tries to fix the issue. Patch 2/4 fixes the 1/4.
+  * Patch 3/4 discovers 1/4 was no good. Patch 4/4 fixes 3/4.
  62 assert (mutex_
  __size = \001\000\000\000\000\000\000\000\061, '\000' repeats 23
times\377, \377\377\377\000\000\000, __align = 1}
  so __owner is 49 and not 0.
  Note that 49 is somewhat strange; it's expected to be a pid_t obtained via
  pid_t id = THREAD_GETMEM (THREAD_SELF, tid);
  According to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=570278 , this
  assert failure could be an expected behaviour if, for some reason the
  multipath code was trying to release a mutex that has already been
  freed.
  The multipath-tools package is up to date (0.4.9-3ubuntu5)
  I do not find obvious thing related in
http://git.opensvc.com/gitweb.cgi?p=multipath-tools%2F.git except may be
http://git.opensvc.com/gitweb.cgi?p=multipath-tools/.git;a=commitdiff;h=5ee9f716549d913aeb9800041f78ee9c6a50d860
  #
  In between Precise's version and Upstream there are the following
  patches touching waiter.c:
  d887f4a = signal waiter thread to stop waiting on dm events
  5ee9f71 = simplify multipath signal handlers
  af4fd6d = Fix race condition in stop_waiter_thread()
  e1fcc59 = multipath: clean up code for stopping the waiter threads
  03ec4ef = multipath: fix shutdown crashes
  4dfdaf2 = multipath: Update multipath device on show topology
  c301a3f = Race condition when calling stop_waiter_thread()
  96f8146 = libmultipath: update waiter handling
  This specific one: 96f8146 (libmultipath: update waiter handling)
  The current 'waiter' structure accesses fields which belong
  to the main 'mpp' structure, which has a totally different
  lifetime.
  Shows that due to different lifetime between different structures, there
  can be use-after-free segfaults (what seems to be happening).
  waiter.c:44 = lock(wp-vecs-lock);
  [PATCH 1/3] Fix: services: Do not allow duplicate recurring op entries.
  [PATCH 3/3] Fix: lrmd: Cancel recurring operations before stop action is
executed
  So I'm assuming (and testing right now) this will fix the issue...
  Opening the public bug for the fix I'll provide after tests, and to ask
  others to test the fix also.
[Bug 1353011] Re: Trusty's crm configure load fails to update cluster configuration
2014-08-08 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
The upstream fix commit was introduced in 1.2.6-rc2.
inaddy@trusty.00070402:/bugs/00070402/sources/upstream/crmsh$ git tag
--contains b146349
1.2.6
1.2.6-rc2
1.2.6-rc3
2.0.0
2.1.0
And Utopic is using:
 crmsh | 1.2.6+git+e77add-1.2ubuntu1 | utopic | source, all
So fix is already in Utopic.
  I was able to reproduce the following error:
  I could see developer fixed this behavior on Aug 8 2013. After digging a
little on crm configure load
  I could find that this error came from a file on the package crmsh and on
crmsh upstream tree I found this:
  inaddy@trusty.00070402:/bugs/00070402/sources/upstream/crmsh$ git log --since
[Bug 1353473] Re: Trusty Pacemaker crm node standby stops resource successfully, but lrmd still monitors it and causes Failed actions
2014-08-08 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Uploading fix for Trusty.
** Description changed:
  [Impact]
   * Whenever a user uses crm node standby the code can make lrmd still
     try to monitor resource put into stand-by and cause error messages.
  [Test Case]
   * To use crm node standby and check lrmd does not stop monitoring
     not set to stand-by.
  [Regression Potential]
-  * users already tested and are using in production.
  I used crm node standby and the resource(haproxy) was stopped successfully.
But lrmd still monitors it and causes Failed actions.
  I wasn't able to reproduce this error so far but the fix seems a
  straightforward cherry-picking from upstream patch set fix:
- c72bfea664bd04656c306409381cef824679ea06
- [PATCH 1/3] Fix: services: Do not allow duplicate recurring op entries.
- [PATCH 2/3] High: lrmd: Merge duplicate recurring monitor operations.
-
- 7e37f9bb35534102b83e2bc45941036361e33214
- [PATCH 3/3] Fix: lrmd: Cancel recurring operations before stop action is
executed
+ c72bfea Fix: services: Do not allow duplicate recurring op entries
+ 7a02cd7 High: lrmd: Merge duplicate recurring monitor operations
+ 7e37f9b Fix: lrmd: Cancel recurring operations before stop action is executed
  So I'm assuming (and testing right now) this will fix the issue...
  Opening the public bug for the fix I'll provide after tests, and to ask
  others to test the fix also.
[Bug 1310023] Re: 14.04: Nvidia Prime is unable to switch to the Nvidia card
2014-08-08 Thread hamish
fyi I've updated the hybrid wiki page to add (ie clone) a section in the intro
explaining it's referring to the dual either-or GPU situation in laptops not
the dual cooperative-GPUs multihead desktop situation.
For my multi-head troubles I think from here I just have to experiment with
Xinerama and try and get xrandr to recognise everything.
cheers
[Bug 1320020] Re: [Inspiron 1470, Realtek ALC272, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
2014-08-08 Thread Takkat
From  above mentioned reports on Ask Ubuntu people reported that
avoiding hibernation or fast-boot of Windows succeeded in resolving the
issue.
It may therefore rather be an issue with inappropriate hardware shut
down from the Windows hibernation process than an issue of the Ubuntu
sound system.
I downloaded (http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/pepperflashplugin-nonfree) and
installed
I hit this issue on my Unbuntu 14.10 installs as well but noticed it because I
was attempting to install an iso from a VIRTIO-SCSI CD-ROM device.
I also tried the same thing for VIRTIO-Block CD-ROM and it failed the
I then tried PAPR-SCSI CD-ROM and it works, but then it comes up and I
hit the issue described in this defect that no drives were detected.  My
   [Inspiron 1470, Realtek ALC272, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
 Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
   Confirmed
 Bug description:
   I can get perfect sound through headphones, and the kernel recognizes
   the internal speaker, but nothing is ever played through it. I have
   personally tested a pair of earbuds to make sure that sound could play
   through the headphone port, and that isn't a problem. The sound driver
   just refuses to recognize the existence of the speaker, even though
   the kernel does.
   I wouldn't be surprised if the last upstream update had something to
[Bug 1354260] Re: error
2014-08-08 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug.  I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.
