[Bug 1292398] Re: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another
Because this seems to be a timing issue, I extend the approach of HaraldK. The idea is just start the g-s-d a little bit later. Therefore I create a file /usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-settings- daemon.override which overrides the exec statement: script sleep 2 exec /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon end script This works for me on several setups (with SSD and conventional hard disks). Adding a somewhat random delay is not really a satisfying solution. A real Bugfix is still needed! Other test relying on /etc/xdg/autostart/ completely fail, although the autostart is basically working and a g-s-d startup file is installed by default. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292398 Title: multi-monitor : second screen position isn't saved from one session to another To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/elementaryos/+bug/1292398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1356229] [NEW] Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working
Public bug reported: The power button stopped working with Ubuntu 14.04. The main issue is that it's not possible to wake up laptop from suspend (does not react to other keys/laptop lid) I did reaserch - the last working kernel is 3.12.26, from 3.13-rc1 it does not work anymore. I also tested 3.16 but still does not wokr. The problem is probably ACPI call which is connected with modules eeepc-laptop and eeepc-wmi - eeepc-laptop: older, gets loaded when apci-osi=Linux . Work everything (except now power button) - eeepc-wmi: newer, no kernel parameter. Very little works. does not work wifi hotkey (Fn+F2), and some others. I was not able to use wlan with -wmi module. I was suggested to do the bisecting, but I do not have time at the moment Also the eeepc-laptop module did not change much from 3.12 to 3.13 There is also forum topic about this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219864 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-32-generic 3.13.0-32.57 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-32.57-generic 3.13.11.4 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-32-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.3 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: gasper 2382 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity CurrentDmesg: [ 69.002927] perf samples too long (2513 2500), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 5 [ 163.177532] perf samples too long (5047 5000), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 25000 Date: Wed Aug 13 09:47:13 2014 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=4a418b64-24f3-4f6a-861d-63e4839897ea InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-08 (5 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release i386 (20140722.2) Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13d3:5108 IMC Networks Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub MachineType: ASUSTeK Computer INC. 1101HA ProcFB: 0 psbdrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-32-generic root=UUID=c687e005-4892-4539-a302-a02f7069067d ro quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux mem=1920mb vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-32-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-32-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.127.5 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 09/24/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 0317 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: 1101HA dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: x.xx dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 0x dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: ASUSTek Computer INC. dmi.chassis.version: x.x dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr0317:bd09/24/2009:svnASUSTeKComputerINC.:pn1101HA:pvrx.x:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rn1101HA:rvrx.xx:cvnASUSTekComputerINC.:ct10:cvrx.x: dmi.product.name: 1101HA dmi.product.version: x.x dmi.sys.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356229 Title: Asus EeePC 1101HA PowerButton not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1356229/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1351415] Re: Have an advanced option when connecting to a wifi network that shows MAC address
** Description changed: Most of the networks I connect to have MAC filtering enabled. This is a problem since I cannot check my devices MAC address until after I've gone through the setup wizard. This leads to a chicken and egg situation where: - the AP won't allow me to connect the device until I've configured the AP to allow the new devices MAC address. - I cannot establish the devices MAC address until after the setup wizard (which expects you to join a wifi network) has completed. - - A simple solution would be to add a show details checkbox to the wifi setup wizard that would simply show hardware (MAC) address: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. That way, I can add those details to the AP, then come back to the device and supply the WPA2 password. + A simple solution would be to add a show details checkbox to the wifi + setup wizard that would simply show hardware (MAC) address: + xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. That way, I can add those details to the AP, then + come back to the device and supply the WPA2 password. FWIW, both iOS and Android also get this wrong. [Bug 1318551] Re: Kernel Panic - not syncing: An NMI occurred, please see the Integrated Management Log for details.
I have an HP Proliant dl380p gen8 with 256 GB of ram. 14.04 Installation works, but after the reboot It crashes at almost every boot attempt. I tried reinstalling it, It started, I upgraded the system to latest kernel available and after the reboot it doesn't boot again, nor with the original nor the latest kernel. Recovery from minima ISO works, but as soon as I boot to the normal system it crashes. I've also tried the recovery mode and init=/bin/bash, and both works until I add some concurrency to the system, then it hangs again. Attached there is a screenshot of one of the hang during the early boot. I've already contacted HP and they changed the system main board, we installed the system again and it is still crashing. ** Attachment added: Schermata 2014-08-13 alle 11.09.21.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1318551/+attachment/4176436/+files/Schermata%202014-08-13%20alle%2011.09.21.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1318551 Title: Kernel Panic - not syncing: An NMI occurred, please see the Integrated Management Log for details. cd311, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Have never actually tried pre-release or short term release versions. + + I have verified I do not have any non-supported software in place + currently on system that is running 12.04 LTS release. I have reviewed + the current configuration of software sources in MUOn manager to make + sure there isn't something unusual there. I cocnsistently run into the + error above during the cycle of Setting new software channels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1355837 Title: Upgrading from 12.x LTS Kubuntu to 14.4 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1355837/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
