[Bug 1358930] [NEW] Text::Wrap dies on '=.'
Public bug reported: Here's a brief test case: #!/usr/bin/perl require Text::Wrap; $Text::Wrap::columns = 2; print $Text::Wrap::VERSION $Text::Wrap::SUBVERSION\n; print Text::Wrap::wrap('', '', '=.'); When I run on Trusty, I get: $ ./wrapper.pl 2012.0818 modern This shouldn't happen at /usr/share/perl/5.18/Text/Wrap.pm line 84. FWIW, when I ran the same test program with the latest version of Wrap.pm from http://api.metacpan.org/source/MUIR/Text-Tabs+Wrap-2013.0523/lib.modern/Text/Wrap.pm, it worked a little better: $ ./wrapper.pl 2013.0523 modern = . I have a sneaking suspicion that the 2013/04/26 version (see https://metacpan.org/changes/distribution/Text-Tabs+Wrap) fixes this, though I haven't verified that. ** Affects: perl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358930 Title: Text::Wrap dies on '=.' [Bug 1351305] Re: [Toshiba Portege Z35-AST3N01] Touchpad / Trackpoint recognised as generic mouse
Summary: This is fixed in kernel 3.17-rc1. Detail: Researching this for my daughter (Ruth Marsden) I've found this issue has been known on the kernel mailing lists for sometime. See http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg29123.html. The issue relates to touchpad devices using the ALPS v7 protocol. These devices are reported in this post to have device info as follows: Device ID = 0x73, 0x03, 0x0a Firmware ID = 0x88, 0xb*, 0x** Which includes my daughter's Toshiba Z35 which has this Device ID and Firmware ID = 0x88, 0xb3, 0x22 A kernel patch has been in production over the last few weeks. See http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg32703.html and related posts. This patch was added on 9th August and can be found in the Ubuntu kernel daily builds from then and the weekly build at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.17-rc1-utopic/ . To install this see the Installing upstream kernels section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . We've tested the 3.17-rc1 kernel on my daughter's Toshiba Z35 laptop and can confirm that both touchpad and trackpoint devices work. They are recognised as an AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad and the touchpad section now appears in System Settings Mouse Touchpad. In particular disabling while typing is available and works. Presumably a kernel with this patch will be released in Ubuntu in due course. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1351305 Title: [Toshiba Portege Z35-AST3N01] Touchpad / Trackpoint recognised as generic mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1351305/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1358936] [NEW] Garbled Graphics on Intel X4500
Public bug reported: I have been having an issue with garbled graphics on an ASUS K50IJ Laptop with Intel GMA X4500 integrated graphics. It is a difficult bug to recreate in a timely fashion as it requires you to be on the system for a decent amount of time (like an hour, sometimes less). Usage scenario to recreate this bug: would be to gradually build up to 10 Firefox or Google Chrome tabs. Minimize the applications, Open a 4000x3000 pixel photo in GIMP, do some editing. After using the computer for a while, go to the launcher and click Firefox or Chrome. Close Firefox or Chrome and then close GIMP. Firefox will take a while to close and while the hard drive is loading, the screen will suddenly become garbled. I've been a user of Ubuntu since version 6.06 (Dapper Drake) and have been using it exclusively on this laptop since version 12.04. I have not had this issue until 14.04. The temporary workaround is to log out and log back in, after which the graphics are back to normal. I also checked to see if it was a memory issue but System Monitor does not appear to display such an issue. [Bug 1263540] Re: Apt-get reports NO_PUBKEY gpg error for keys that are present in trusted.gpg.
I encountered the same problem. I solved this by 1) moving all the ppas from the folder /etc/apt/sources.list.d to the file /etc/apt/sources.list. I did this with the command: pr -F *files newfilepr -F *files newfile which combines all the sources.list files into one file. Some adaptation is needed. 2) removing *all* the files in /etc/apt/trustedgpg.d then, I could add new keys to the keychain by issuing the “sudo apt-key adv –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv-keys **KEY_HERE**” command (look it up if you don't know it). Before that, it didn’t import the key. Hope this is helpfull to someone, it was a completely random move on my part, had no idea if it would work or not. Please, include Unicode emoticons and pictographs in the default Ubuntu installation; as they: - Allow visual representation in plain text, which saves having to use complex formatting in messages for this and warranties cross compatibility with Android and Apple devices for messaging. - Saves a huge amount of time when editing documents where you want to have icons, as these are diverse and visual coherent with each other.
