[Bug 1369224] Re: rsync preserve permission does not work

2014-09-18 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

The -p is defined to replicate permission bits, not user or group
ownership. You want -pog for permissions and user and group ownership.

Since rsync is working as defined here, I don't think this is a bug. If
you disagree, please explain and reopen.

[Bug 1160336] Re: SOAP Client failed to load entry

2014-09-18 Thread Tomasz (Tomek) Muras
This must be a bug in mod php or PHP. The behaviour is random so it may
relate to cache or some condition race.

The workaround for the issue is to add this:
libxml_disable_entity_loader(false);

before creating new SoapClient.

[Bug 1366141] Re: [MIR] python-tooz

2014-09-18 Thread Michael Terry
James, are we likely to be able to easily rebase on Debian with a
repacked tarball? (i.e. is Debian likely to go to using upstream
tarballs soon or fix their generation to work with the python3
testsuite?)

Maybe pass your debdiff over to Debian.

I don't want to create a permanent delta for this package.

[Bug 1306537] Re: LXC local provider fails to provision precise instances from a trusty host

Tested with
juju-quickstart 1.3.1-0ubuntu1.1 (from proposed)
# juju version
1.18.4-trusty-amd64

quickstart defaults to default-series trusty, this works.

Tested a second time with default-series precise, this also works, but
deploys on trusty.

I do not know how to test this, can someone give more specific
instructions on how to force precise ?

[Bug 1371159] [NEW] MacBookPro 11, 1 (Haswell, retina) fails to both suspend and hibernate with ubuntu 14.04

2014-09-18 Thread Albert
Public bug reported:

Cannot make a MacBookPro 11,1 suspend.

1. When putting the lid down, acpi_listen prints:

$ acpi_listen
button/lid LID close
button/lid LID open

... so the lid is signalling correctly. Upon opening, the screensaver
prompt is present, and typing in the password brings me back to the
desktop. Nothing is found in dmesg.

2. When choosing suspend from the top-right power menu, the screen
goes black and shortly lights up again, showing the screensaver login
prompt. Typing in the password brings me back to the desktop as if
nothing had happened.

3. To remark that the power menu in the System Settings shows sometimes
Suspend as greyed out, and hibernate is not listed. Perhaps this is
related to the suspend process taking very long (minutes) as reported in
other bugs, but I have never waited so long to find out.

4. When attempting to hibernate instead, using:

$ sudo pm-hibernate

... something similar to triggering a suspend happens, but this time
dmesg lists one error:

[Bug 1306537] Re: LXC local provider fails to provision precise instances from a trusty host

2014-09-18 Thread Robie Basak
Following a brief discussion on IRC, I think this is good enough.

15:55 rbasak Looking again, the key bug was in Juju. juju-quickstart
had a task, and you moved to Trusty from Precise, which also eliminated
the bug.

15:56 rbasak As long as proposed juju works with proposed juju-
quickstart, we should be verification-done.

[Bug 1087183] Re: MaaS cloud-init configuration specifies 'manage_etc_hosts: localhost'

2014-09-18 Thread Gavin Panella
Now, is a dhcp lease a permanent address? :) I think it's permanent
enough for this scenario where MAAS is giving it out, as it even
 updates the DNS record.

In this case, yes, I think it is permanent. MAAS promises to keep that
address for that node until it is released. DHCP is simply the
mechanism. Users are free to set this address statically in their node's
networking configuration.

this in the *VE*: sysctl net.ipv4.conf.venet0.disable_policy=1

[Bug 1309678] Re: a value is required for the control bucket field

2014-09-18 Thread Jay R. Wren
I cannot reproduce using local. It would have been worth noting that this only
effects openstack and ec2 providers.

Using the versions from trusty-proposed
 juju=1.18.4+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.1
juju-quickstart=1.3.1-0ubuntu1.1

I can't verify because of SSL certificate validation errors.

juju bootstrap works and then juju-quickstart fails:

[Bug 1371218] [NEW] curtin output badly broken. command errors ignored.

2014-09-18 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

This regressed with the 'reporter' code in revno 163.
The following shows a number of issues:
a.) cannot run as non-root (as it wants to write to

fails
 c.) output is duplicated
d.) *old* output from /var/log/curtin_install.log is written to console

[Bug 933417] Re: Stack smashing while using a lot of connections

2014-09-18 Thread Aarti Dongargaonkar
I see that the patch has the fix to use poll instead of select in the 2
functions - OS_Close and is_af_unix_keeper. But I see that select is
used in one more place in OS_DoIo in os_unix.c. Any reason why this
select is not changed to poll? Is there a patch available to fix this?
Thanks.

[Bug 1371291] [NEW] FTBFS caused by PEP 466

2014-09-18 Thread Barry Warsaw
Public bug reported:

PEP 466 http://legacy.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0466/ backported Python
3 security enhancements for OpenSSL to Python 2.7.x. As part of the
port, _ssl.sslwrap(). AFAICT, this was never a public API anyway (it
does not appear to be documented), but eventlet was using it, thus it is
incompatible with Python 2.7.9 (when that is released). Of course, when
2.7.8-7 was uploaded to Utopic, it pulled the hg snapshot from 20140909,
so this change came along with it.

This is a legitimate upstream failure:
https://github.com/eventlet/eventlet/issues/135

I'll wait to see if anything gets fixed upstream before trying to craft
a fix. Since this is security critical code, I'd prefer for someone
with upstream domain knowledge to propose a fix first.

[Bug 1371159] Re: MacBookPro 11, 1 (Haswell, retina) fails to both suspend and hibernate with ubuntu 14.04

2014-09-18 Thread Albert
Further info: turns out that the system is running without swap space:

$ sudo blkid
/dev/sda2: UUID=the-UUID-here TYPE=ext4

... lists only one, when it shoud list also the swap partition. So:

$ sudo swapon -a
swapon: /dev/mapper/cryptswap1: stat failed: No such file or directory

The /etc/fstab lists the swap partition under /dev/mapper/cryptswap1.
While I never chose to encrypt swap, during the installation I did
choose to encrypt my home directory. Perhaps the installer encrypted
swap as well, and that is creating the problem with the lack of suspend
and hibernate.

Attempting to run sudo swapon -U UUID fails as well. I used the UUID
listed in a comment in fstab.

Any specific solutions to this problem? Perhaps this would solve the
suspend/hibernate as well.

Thank you.

[Bug 1353008] Re: MAAS Provider: LXC did not get DHCP address, stuck in pending

2014-09-18 Thread Brian Murray
Hello David, or anyone else affected,

Accepted cloud-init into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-
init/0.7.5-0ubuntu1.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1371246] [NEW] netns ifconfig problem

2014-09-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using IP name space virtualization feature in Ubuntu 14.04. The simplest
script for this is:
#! /bin/sh
ip netns add test
ip link set dev eth1 netns test
ip netns exec ip addr add 10.4.1.21/16 dev eth1
ip netns exec test ip link set dev eth1 up

The node has eth0 with 10.4.1.20/16 and connected eth0 to eth1 by
external cable.

All had worked fine during updating Ubuntu 14.04 at the 14th or 15th of
September. All is OK in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

After the starting script I have a wrong result for 'sudo ip netns exec
test ifconfig eth1' output as zero's broadcast address in test IP name
space. Command 'sudo ip netns exec test ping 10.4.21.1' has failed.

[Bug 1371310] [NEW] docker.io doesn't work with 3.0 RC1 kernel

2014-09-18 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce (from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/AppArmor):

1. sudo apt-get install docker.io # 1.2.0~dfsg1-1

2. sudo docker pull ubuntu:trusty

3. sudo docker run ubuntu:trusty uptime
2014/09/18 15:48:48 Error response from daemon: Cannot start container

What is expected? uptime to return something like:
$ sudo docker run ubuntu:trusty uptime
 20:31:21 up 1 min, 0 users, load average: 0.09, 0.06, 0.03

I set 'sudo sysctl -w kernel.printk_ratelimit=0' but there is nothing apparmor
related in the logs. If I boot an earlier kernel without the 3.0 RC1 patches,
it works.

instances, /dev/xvda and /dev/xvda1 are not considered (only sda, sda1,

It looks like a recent update to grub or the kernel on 12.04 is breaking

You can reproduce the problem by doing the following:

  region: us-east-1
  virtualization type: HVM (e.g. r3.xlarge)
  AMI ID: ami-7a916212

  dpkg --configure –a
  apt-get update

2014-09-18 Thread Ben Howard
In re: to comment #19
Am I right in thinking that after review it will be released on precise and
trusty and hit the cloud-images/AWS at the same time?

The update will be released to the update archive around the same time
for 12.04 and 14.04. The next batch of cloud-images released after this
update hits the archive will include the fix.

[Bug 1201873] Re: dnsmasq does not use -h, so /etc/hosts sends folks to loopback when they look up the machine it's running on

commit 1e3d2fbcb13e01bee0a8f90bd2078b1f5063b4d5
Author: Sean Dague s...@dague.net

always set --no-hosts for dnsmasq

Many network modes in nova-network disable reading host entries from
/etc/hosts. This includes running vish-ha (multihost), or if you ever
set a dns server. However if you don't do these things we continue to
use /etc/hosts.

It's not clear that this does anything other than create
inconsistency. There is a long standing bug that exists around this
because the impacts include exposing localhost as a dns entry on the
network.

[Bug 1246364] Re: update-notifier does not show a tray icon in xubuntu

2014-09-18 Thread Forest
Here's a patch against the version of update-notifier in current utopic
snapshots. The patched version preserves the new (broken) behavior by
default, but restores the ability to disable auto-launch using this
command line:

gsettings set com.ubuntu.update-notifier auto-launch false

Once that setting is in place, restarting update-manager will restore the old
behavior.
(If someone wants to expand on this patch and add a GUI check box for this
setting, please do.)

Note: There is a related bug that can prevent the update-notifier icon
from showing up on non-Unity desktops. Libappindicator is supposed to
fall back to good old systray icons in that case, but it doesn't always.
If your system exhibits the bug, try installing an Indicator plugin on
your desktop's panel, if one is available. Xfce users can get one from
the xfce4-indicator-plugin package, which I believe is installed by
default in new utopic installations. Here's the bug report:

[Bug 1370893] [NEW] quassel nickname changed to some random number/letter combination after loging in kde plasma next and back to kde 4 in kubuntu 14.04

2014-09-18 Thread simon
Public bug reported:

i am using the same config folder for quassel in kubuntu 14.04.1 and also on
kde plasma next (installed via kubuntu devel ppa files).
when i am using quassel in kubuntu14.04 it works and displays the username i am
using by default, but when i log of, log in to kde plasma next - not even
starting quassel there, and back to kubuntu 14.04 i often end up with a random
name of several letters and numbers in quassel.
for example yesterday it showed:
7GHAA3F6G.

this problem fixes itself after a reboot but should not exist at all i
think.

[Bug 1369539] Re: mediascanner-service-2.0 crashed while creating thumbnails

2014-09-18 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1364466 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1364466

Mediascanner does not generate thumbnails. It has never done so, that is
thumbnailer's job.

What is happening here is that gstreamer metadata extractor is buggy and
crashes on some files. This is a known issue and Mediascanner has
protections against this as it remembers what files caused it to crash
and skips those. Marking as duplicate.
