[Bug 1372284] Re: nagios3: SIGSEGV everyday at midnight

2014-09-22 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Looks like the check-mk source package embeds a copy of nagios'
downtime.h (along with other header files), and that Nagios has updated
a struct since then.

Patching Nagios doesn't make sense here, from a distribution
perspective. The real fix is to fix check-mk's packaging to use a build
dependency on some kind of nagios-dev package which provides the
required headers. So this is a bug in check-mk, not in nagios.

This is probably relevant to Debian's check-mk packaging, too. Checking
in Debian and reporting there if this bug applies to Debian would be
appropriate.

[Bug 1230917] Re: php5-fpm logrotate errors after package switched to upstart

2014-09-22 Thread Abel Cheung
1) /run or /var/run is a non-issue: Ubuntu (at least until Trusty)
should have a /var/run symlink pointing to /run. So it's the same using
either /var/run/php5-fpm.pid or /run/php5-fpm.pid.

2) Logrotate script is not updated even on 5.5.9+dfsg-1ubuntu4.4; if the
logrotate script is updated as @ondrej said in comment #5 it works for
me.

3) The reload action in upstart script is also commented out on 5.5.9
+dfsg-1ubuntu4.4; if it is uncommented everything is good to go.

4) Everybody, save yourself and don't hold your breath for official
update. Note that this bug is still Unassigned, which means no Ubuntu
dev is paying attention.

[Bug 1371526] Re: ceph-disk-prepare command always fails; new partition table not avaliable until reboot

2014-09-22 Thread Stefan Bader
We would really need information about setting up a system that runs
into issues. In particular, how is the cloud-init ephemeral disk
created? I still cannot reproduce this (making an ext3 fs outside and
put something into it, then mount it by label from the guest, unmount
it, mount it again and write something, all works ok). So we need as
much info about what is done to the ephemeral disk from the start to the
point where umount fails.

[Bug 1350103] Re: No support for armhf/keystone architecture

2014-09-22 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Newell, or anyone else affected,

Accepted maas into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/1.5.4+bzr2294-0ubuntu1.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1292234] Re: qcow2 image corruption in trusty (qemu 1.7 and 2.0 candidate)

2014-09-22 Thread Serge Hallyn
On my main server (3.13.0-32-generic with precise userspace) I installed
a trusty container with ext3 (LVM) backing store. There I installed uvt
and created 4 VMs, 2 precise amd64 and 2 precise i386. I several times
did:

ubuntu@uvttest:~$ cat list
p-precise-server-amd64
p-precise-server-i386
q-precise-server-i386
q-precise-server-amd64
ubuntu@uvttest:~$ for n in `cat list`; do uvt start -fr $n; done
ubuntu@uvttest:~$ for n in `cat list`; do tmux splitw -p 25 -t $TMUX_PANE
expect vmupgrade.expect $n; done

where vmupgrade.expect is:
=
#!/usr/bin/expect

set container [lrange $argv 0 0]
spawn ssh $container
#expect assword:
#send -- ubuntu\r

expect $container:~$
send -- export DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive\r
send -- sudo sed -i 's/never/lts/' /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades\r
expect assword for ubuntu:
send -- ubuntu\r

expect $container:~$
send -- sudo apt-get update\r
expect $container:~$
send -- sudo do-release-upgrade -f DistUpgradeViewNonInteractive\r
set timeout 11000
expect $container:~$
send -- sudo reboot\r
=

Then I find /lib -name xxx; sudo reboot; find /lib -name xxx; and look
through dmesg for errors, then do

ubuntu@uvttest:~$ for n in `cat list`; do uvt stop -fr $n; done

Alas I've seen no corruption yet. The goal here isn't just to reproduce
it, but to do so reliably enough to be able to bisect - this isn't it :(

[Bug 1328183] Re: User-Agent string results in poor UX on web

2014-09-22 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Shuduo Sang, do I understand it correctly that your webapp refuses to serve its
content because it recognizes the browser as a mobile one? Is this on desktop
or on a mobile device (if so which one)?
It would help if you could provide the URL of the app.

Note that there is a mechanism to override the default UA string for a
given webapp: you can set it with the user-agent-override key in the
webapp’s manifest file.

[Bug 1356222] Re: [MIR] fcitx and related packages

2014-09-22 Thread Didier Roche
Le 20/09/2014 00:08, Aron Xu a écrit :
 ---
 - fcitx:

 * BLOCKER: presagege is missing as a build-dep, do you mind either not
building with it (optional dep) or add it and check it matches the MIR
 criterias?

Added and checked presage and libtinyxml (b-d/dep of presage) to MIR.
Live without presage is doable, but better avoid that.

 - Thanks, looking to it.

 * BLOCKER: there are some LGPL files and no COPYING.LGPL file, please
ship it in the upstream tarball.

 https://github.com/fcitx/fcitx/issues/169

I can commit but usually don't do that directly.

 - Same than for brise, we need a release with this change before being
 able to promote to main.

Uploaded to Debian, will sync to Ubuntu after being published.
Ack, keep me posted.

 * NEED INFO/FIXING: fcitx-libs-gclient (and a lot of other binary
packages): package-name-doesnt-match-sonames. Do you know why we don't
follow upstream soname? They are at 0, so package name should be
fcitx-libs-gclient0 as it's a public library. Otherwise, it should be in a
 private path.
 * NEED FIXING: I noted the remark on fcitx-libs in debian/README.source,
and even if I'm not a fan of the current approach of the 3 libraries in the
same package, I think we can live with it. However, we need to have a
soname in the end, so that the binary package name can be bumped for any
soname breaking in one of the 3 libraries (as some rdepends are not frmothe
same source pacakage, like kde-config-fcitx or youker-assistant).

The reason is that we have done this for fcitx-libs before, so that
following the same convention. We plan to change that when next major
release of Fcitx is out, and for now the API/ABI is pretty stable for
a while so there is no real pressure to rush for that.

 - Still, this is a main criteria definition. So either have it
committed to the packaging github and I can accept without the change
being in ubuntu yet (please plan for the first library bump), either
ship with the soname change now to get it acked to main.

This is done in Debian git:
 http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-ime/fcitx.git/commit/?id=07455aef1c1f19d85d5b68acaaa47ef3f6f464e7

Any upload planned with the fix?

 * NEED FIXING: even if it's wrap under a sh call, better to be coherent and
 get the script executable: W: fcitx-bin: script-not-executable
 usr/share/fcitx/data/env_setup.sh

This is intentional done by upstream, so after some communication I
don't see strong reason to maintain a diff.

 - Ack.

 * NEED FIXING: debian/copyright:

 ime/fcitx.git/commit/?id=348b6dae534bb2d08e2f3728b345bb3ed18fa98a

 - Thanks!

 * MINOR: debian/patches/ubuntu-disable-fcitx-xkb.patch:
do you mind using DEP3 for annotating the patch?

That's a quick `quilt header -e`, I'll update it before next upload if
it does not get dropped (attente may don't need it now).

 - Can we get a clarification then? Or just commit the DEP3 header to
the packaging git so that this comment doesn't go in limbo if you keep
the patch it. Please envision to use DEP3 for all your future patches,
so easier to track multiple months afterwards.

 The patch is now dropped.

 * MINOR: I think you should add a head to debian/control (after you cp
the .in to the control file) to tell to not edit that file as
debian/rules, through gencontrol.mk is going to edit and sed it.

 ime/fcitx.git/commit/?id=7669d5769d0e5b7de4ce011a3a3031d82f8adab5

 - Excellent!

 * NEEDS INFO: I see that we are running the unit tests at build time.
Is there any integration tests that we can run, installing the various
modules? (like -anthy, -chewing… and so on…)

Nope, the testing is limited to some core functions of the framework
itself, and there is no usable testing facility for other modules in
 Fcitx 4.8 series.

 - Ack.

[Bug 1372286] [NEW] tab bash-completion adds an unwanted space so path name expansion fails

2014-09-22 Thread latimerio
Public bug reported:

With bash-completion 2.1 the default for unknown commands seems to be to add
a space after a string.
Thus path name completion cannot be performed properly.
Various users have complained about this for specific commands.

The reason behind bash-completion is to make life easier.
So the default should always be the more ergonomic solution.

In most cases the added space requires a backspace, a '/' and another tab press.
This is awkward and much worse than manually entering space when necessary.

So please change the default for pathname completion back to the
behaviour of bash_completion 1.3.

[Bug 1364091] Re: Possible RAID-6 corruption

2014-09-22 Thread swmike
This problem affects all stable kernels from 2.6.32 and onwards, and
this patch needs to be applied to ALL kernels from that date to avoid
data corruption on double degraded RAID-6 volumes being written to.

This is not an mdadm problem, it's a kernel problem.

[Bug 1366451] Re: mksh -v should display mksh's version number, plus the attached chunk of text, onscreen

2014-09-22 Thread Thorsten Glaser
mirabilos, I wonder if you might be willing to please put some shell
function like this into the dot.mkshrc in upstream mksh CVS?

I’m not.

It seems to me a fairly uncontroversial change.

No. As I said, “help” is very generic, and I know of distros aliasing it to
“man” or “man man”. (SuSE 6.1 did that, for example.)
Also, generic names are… problematic. I’ve learned my lesson from when I added
a “rename” builtin.

Then, next time you push the latest mksh version into Android gerrit,
perhaps you could include this change as part of the broader changelist.

Android mkshrc is independent of mksh/dot.mkshrc and completely
separately maintained.

[Bug 1371635] Re: [FFe] standing freeze exception in utopic for Ubuntu Touch-specific packages

2014-09-22 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
In this case I suppose we can remove ofono from this list. Most things
which we were doing with ofono in the last month was anyway bugfixing,
so I guess it should be safe without it being in the standing FFe. In
case a feature is needed we can fill in a normal FFe for this purpose.

Removing it now.

Thank you for checking the list Steve!

** Description changed:

  Dear Release Team,

I would like to request a blanket FFe wrt Ubuntu Touch, for those
packages that are part of Ubuntu Touch and Ubuntu Desktop Next but not
part of Ubuntu Desktop. TTBOMK, the packages that are different between
the two are not otherwise used in other flavor images.

I've assembled a list of 202 source packages, included inline below,
that would be affected by this. The script used to generate the list is
  located in ubuntu-archive-tools: `generate-freeze-block -u ubuntu-touch
  ubuntu-desktop-next`.

For the vast majority of these packages, there is no expectation of
freeze-breaking changes; but since there is a high probability that some
critical features will not be landed by Feature Freeze for some subset
of these packages, I think it makes sense to deal with these as a whole
rather than requesting exceptions package-by-package or feature-by-
  feature.

I have added a few tools packages that are also will require changes,
such as phablet-tools and goget-ubuntu-touch - as those are basically
only used for touch purposes. The android package has also been added
which isn't installed on the seed per say, but is used to build the
image and provide the android part of the Touch image.

Then I also added the click, click-apparmor, ofono, apparmor-easyprof-
ubuntu, ubuntu-app-launch, ubuntu-download-manager which are part of our
Ubuntu Touch images (and not part of Ubuntu Desktop) but are also part
of some other flavors. Those might be useful to have an FFe since
they're used extensively in Touch. They are here up for discussion and
might be removed from the list.

Please note that there is no mir package in this exception as it is
currently partially used by Ubuntu Desktop. The Mir team has informed us
that they will be only uploading bugfixes so a special exception is not
  required.

[Bug 1371469] Re: system hangs on shutdown/reboot

2014-09-22 Thread James Hunt
Looks like the shutdown never got as far as running umountroot. Do you
have a /var/log/shutdown-lsof.log that you can attach to this bug?

I see that all the nullmailer output has gone, but we're still left with
wpa_supplicant and dnsmasq output at the end of the log. As such, could
you try shutting down the network manager job before the shutdown:

$ sudo stop network-manager

Then checking that wpa_supplicant and dnsmasq are no longer running.
Then, try the shutdown and see if that completes.

** Package changed: nagios3 (Ubuntu) = check-mk (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1182014] [NEW] Ubuntu 13.04 Calculator app results incorrect after undo

2014-09-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

try 1+1, the result will be 2
add to the result + 1, the result will be 3

now undo the last operation (you should see 2+1 displayed)

at this point either press enter, you would expect to get 3 as the result but
you will get 4
or after the previous undo, delete number 1 and add another number e.g. 10
(2+10), you would expect to get 12 as the result but you will get 13

this becomes a major issue when working with big numbers and other
mathematical operators

The undo functionality is very usuful in the calculator and I use it all
the time in order to modify one of the operands for a similar operation

** Affects: gnome-calculator (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
