[Bug 1393079] [NEW] Touchpad not working after suspend/resume

2014-11-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu 14.10 on an Acer Laptop, model: Aspire E5-571G-941Y
$ uname -a
Linux Acer-Aspire-E5-571G 3.16.0-24-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 28 13:07:32
UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Every time I suspend, the trackpad no longer works when resuming.

I see several other people have the same issue with the same laptop here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2250002
(some people say it's a 14.10 specific problem)

I realize this report is very poor but please don't hesitate to request
data / clarifications from me, I'll be happy to help.

[Bug 1393014] Re: Sync ipsec-tools 1:0.8.2+20140711-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-11-16 Thread Artur Rona

ipsec-tools (1:0.8.2+20140711-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Repackage upstream release 0.8.2 for real. Previous releases were
based on an incomplete import and were essentially 0.8.0.
  * Remove patch debian/patches/gcc-4.8.diff, which has been incorportated
upstream.
  * Remove patch debian/patches/patch-to-support-cast128, which has
been incorportated upstream.
  * Import patch for x509 IPv6 literal address subjectAltName support from

ipsec-tools (1:0.8.2-4) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Fix newly introduced FTBFS on kFreeBSD.
The previous patch defined __USE_GNU in a fragile way, but as we're
really on a glibc platform, we can just define _GNU_SOURCE, similar
to what is done on Linux.
  * Refresh patch configure-pass-Wl-with-R

ipsec-tools (1:0.8.2-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Update patch gcc-4.8.diff.
As per NetBSD CVS, the memset is unneeded after (racoon_)calloc().
  * Support building with automake 1.14.
Set required options to restore old automake behavior, and run
autoreconf during build. Removed patches to configure, removed
explicit rpath setting and chrpath. Dropped superfluous symbols
files, as we are not a library package and these were probably
added by accident.
  * Only use UTF8 encoding in ASN.1 strings.
This is recommended by RFC2459 (2004), and has been made the default in
OpenSSL 1.0.1h. Fixes the FTBFS caused by the OpenSSL change.

[Bug 1393306] [NEW] slapd: nssov does not work with lib{nss, pam}-ldapd 0.9.x

2014-11-16 Thread Ryan Tandy
Public bug reported:

nss-pam-ldapd 0.9 introduced incompatible changes to the nslcd protocol,
with an accompanying version bump: http://arthurdejong.org/nss-pam-
ldapd/release-0-9-0

nssov still speaks the old protocol, so can't be used for clients
running utopic or vivid. slapd says:

54698bdd connection_get(14): got connid=0
54698bdd nssov: connection from uid=0 gid=0
54698bdd nssov: wrong nslcd version id (33554432)

I started on a patch (nss mostly done, pam not done) and ran out of
time. When I have time to finish it I'll post it upstream for review. If
someone else wants to carry on with it I'm happy to provide my WIP.

[Bug 1392018] Re: apparmor stops /var/run/ldapi from being read causing ldap to fail

2014-11-16 Thread Jayesh Bhoot
I confirm that the bug is present on Kubuntu 14.10 as well.

When installing a clean ubuntu 14.10 server and installing slapd with :
apt-get install slapd ldap-utils
configure it with :
dpkg-reconfigure slapd
with ldap address of ldapi://xxx.xxx.xxx
the following command :
ldapsearch -Q -LLL -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -b cn=config
gives the following error:
ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Can't contact LDAP server (-1)

Also, the provided solution of modifying apparmor config for slapd
worked.

[Bug 1390337] Re: Installer crashes about 3/4 of the way through.

2014-11-16 Thread Dain Lewis
After reading the known issues I found one for a crash while installing
with multiple HD in the system. I was using a SSD and also a HDD, trying
to install to the SSD.

I disconnected the HDD and attempted install again and it worked, the
installer completed without crashes or errors.

[Bug 1392949] Re: [Asus X553MA] Touchpad features doesn't work

2014-11-16 Thread Janne Heikkinen
First of those three patches didn't work with Ubuntu
3.13.0-39.66-generic 3.13.11.8 so I made the changes by hand wihtout the
change to synaptics.c. Then after applying all three patches I patched
changes in drivers/input/serio from 3.17.2 to Ubuntu
3.13.0-39.66-generic and also added firmware_id field into
include/linux/serio.h.

Now I'm running that patched 3.13.0-39.66-generic in my X553MA and all
touchpad features work and haven't noticed any problems.

[Bug 1393151] [NEW] Writing to ext4 LVM FS causes GPF in mpage_process_page_bufs

2014-11-16 Thread Andrew Sabot
Public bug reported:

Writing data to a 3 TB ext4-formatted logical volume on a 2x6 TB mdadm
raid 1 mirror always results in a GPF within 1 minute of writing the
data. Disks seem to be OK smart-wise.

When the GPF occurs, the md1 raid volume gets degrated, the entire
system gets irresponsive and after the next boot (hard reset), the raid
syncing starts from scratch (which takes 10 hours with the two 6 TB
drives).

The GPF always happens in mpage_process_page_bufs:

[Bug 1393152] [NEW] establish connection even if wireless hardware is removed

2014-11-16 Thread Fabio Marconi
Public bug reported:

Hallo

TESTCASE:

Start from a fully working wireless connection.
*Shutdown
*Phisically remove the wireless card and connect with ethernet
*Reboot
*Sometime you will see the NM trying to connect to wireless net and sometime
stating that is connected

Is expected that it don't try to connect to a not existing net (no way
to receive)

Best regards

[Bug 1373510] Re: SAMSUNG SCX-3405 not detected in XUBUNTU 14.04 AMD 64 bit

2014-11-16 Thread vonibenz
** Description changed:

  Hello,
I have a problem trying to install the Universal Scanner Driver
(multifunction SAMSUNG SCX-3405) on an HP AMD 64 notebook, with Xubuntu 14.04
LTS-AMD 64Bits. The scanner is not detected. The sw is regularly updated.
On another machine, with the same Xubuntu 14.04 LTS, BUT 32Bits, the driver
is installed and works very well.
More, when I used the 12.04 LTS-32Bits, on the same HP AMD 64 notebook, the
driver was fine.

I involved the Samsung Assistance of Italy in the problem and they
verified that what I say is true; they said also that the problem is
inside Xubuntu AMD 64B or inside the Kernel Linux.

I can't do anything by myself, I need your kind help. Please, let me
  know your opinion, thanks.

[Bug 1390994] Re: Lost ability to print duplex

2014-11-16 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
The file is /etc/cups/cupsd.conf (d at the end) can you attach it's content
together with a complete cups error log after trying to print duplex with
debugging enabled as described here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems.
Can your follow the instructions of the sections CUPS error_log, Capturing
print job data, and Getting the data which would go to the printer. Can you
also attach the file(s) which you tried to print? Please do this for all
situations with problems (LibreOffice, evince, ...).

[Bug 1393151] Re: Writing to ext4 LVM FS causes GPF in mpage_process_page_bufs

2014-11-16 Thread Andrew Sabot
Additional info:
A GPF also occurs when creating the filesystem on the LV using mkfs.ext3, while
creating the inode tables.
Since mkfs.ext4 doesn't do this, it happens later when more data is being
written to the lv.

[Bug 1393162] [NEW] nm-connection-editor crashes when deleting the same connection twice

2014-11-16 Thread Thomas Jensen
Public bug reported:

Reproduce:
1. Edit connections...
2. Select a connection
3. Hit Delete...
4. Confirm removal
5. Quickly select the same network and repeat from step 3.

I guess this should be fixed by silently doing nothing if the connection
has already been removed, or by locking/reloading the connection list
while the delete happens. Possibly both solutions?

Ubuntu: 14.10

[Bug 768727] Re: Brother HL 2040 prints infinite blank pages

Trevor, do you have a Brother HL 2040? If not it is better to open a new
bug report for your specific printer preferably using ubuntu-bug
foomatic-db from a terminal.

[Bug 1390013] Re: The new lightdm-gtk-greeter no longer displays the hostname

2014-11-16 Thread Andrew P.
Just note that in new layout clock is not really centered, now panel have
behavior similar to DE panels.
It's the reason why xubuntu login screen have custom settings:
indicators=~host;~spacer;~session;~language;~a11y;~clock;~power

[Bug 1311247] Re: [Grubenv] error: malformed file, press any key to continue

2014-11-16 Thread Michael Rösch
Same Problem here on ubuntu14.04 recently upgraded from 13.10.
The workarounds setting the grub default option is not possible for me, because
I am using the system with vdr.
The vdr sets a wakeup-time which is programmed in the BIOS with nvram.
My mainboard requires a reboot for making this setting effective which is
achieved by turning the system-shutdown into a reboot and choose the last
menu-entry PowerOff.
However, it turned out that this is not happening when I switch of the system
with the halt-command in the grub menu entry I call after reboot.
To clearify this is the content of my 40_custom:

#!/bin/sh
exec tail -n +3 $0
# This file provides an easy way to add custom menu entries. Simply type the
# menu entries you want to add after this comment. Be careful not to change
# the 'exec tail' line above.
menuentry PowerOff {
saved_entry=0
save_env saved_entry
sleep 4
halt
}

When I switched off the system by power key, it worked.
The only way to make it work again was downgrading to the previously used
version
2.00-19ubuntu2.1
and set the packages on hold in aptitude.

Why are we using beta-versions in a LTS-distribution?

[Bug 1393074] Re: Amarok freezes on start up

2014-11-16 Thread Myriam Schweingruber
Please start Amarok in a konsole with these arguments:

amarok -d --nofork

and check the error messages.

I suspect it is a well-known bug in the 2.8 version with the analyzer applet
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327150), if yes, here is the workaround:
disable the analyzer applet by editing ~/.kde/share/config/amarok_homerc and
removing it from the plugins list

Also please file Amarok bugs downstream in http://bugs.kde.org, as for
all other KDE packages

[Bug 1393168] [NEW] chromium doesn't read files from /etc/chromium-browser/customizations

2014-11-16 Thread Gerd Stolpmann
Public bug reported:

I was trying to start chromium-browser with some additional command-line
arguments (gssapi-related). I created a file /etc/chromium-
browser/customizations/00_gps.dynxs.de.sh that extends the variable
CHROMIUM_FLAGS, but this file is acually ignored.

Apparently, the run-parts command isn't called correctly from the script
/usr/bin/chromium-browser. Without --regex, no file is listed and
sourced.

This affects Ubuntu 14.04 and chromium-browser-36.0.1985.12.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2014-11-16 Thread Amit Kshirsagar
I am unable to mount Nexus5 and Samsung Galaxy 2 on Ubuntu 14.04
I was able to do file operations without any issues in prior versions.

Following is the output that I got when tried for mtp-detect.
-
xanthus@xanthus-Inspiron-6000:/etc$ mtp-detect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6

Listing raw device(s)
   No raw devices found.
-

All other usb devices, like 8gb usb stick, 1TB WD External HD is getting
mounted and I can perform the normal file operations.

Not sure how long this problem is going to last.

That is maybe not a bug. You have an old release which isn't supported
anymore. You have to upgrade with the old-releases archive repository
or too fresh-install Ubuntu. See also

[Bug 1382106] Re: p7zip-full fails to deal correctly with filename encodings

2014-11-16 Thread Pilot6
I disabled usage of p7zip-full by file-roller. This fixes this bug. It
is to hard for me at the moment to patch p7zip itself.

** Patch added: file-roller.patch

[Bug 1364078] Re: Cannot set screen resolution above 1400x1050

2014-11-16 Thread ubuntuguest
I have tha same (1440, gamma, fglrx removed) with Radeon HD 4850, but only on
upgraded ubuntu from 12.04 to 14.04 (both LTS) .
With 14.04.1 LTS desktop live I have correct resolution:
root@ubuntu:~# xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VGA-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 477mm x 268mm
   1920x1080 60.0*+
   1680x1050 60.0
   1280x1024 60.0
   1440x900 59.9
   1280x960 60.0
   1280x800 59.8
   1024x768 60.0
   800x60060.3 56.2
   640x48060.0
DVI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

#lspci
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV770
[Radeon HD 4850]

On the upgraded version I have to use -q12 and -s to see 1920x1080, but can't
add it - gamma missing.
As there is no xorg.conf, it is hard to move settings ...
It looks, as always, the best way to upgrade ubuntu is to reinstall ubuntu. I
think to install all packages from live distribution missing in the installed
version, as it is all autodiscovery, but I feel I will have to reinstall it.
But if installed ubuntu has different autodiscovery settings compared to the
live version, maybe someone knows, how to change it?

fast'n'dirty patch
sudo sed -i's/Exec=chromium-browser/Exec=env LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE=1

Once I waked it up and realised there is a ping to gateway but no DNS.

In /var/log/syslog:
