[Bug 790774] Re: ssh hangs after inactivity (maybe when connection is lost)
I don't know why this was closed for inactivity. I provided the information I was asked for, so this hould not have remnained in the Incomplete state in the first place. I can still reproduce this, systematically, and I have observed it on several machines and with several servers (with different linux distributions and from different hosting providers). So I'm going to change this to confirmed. There is one thing worth noting, though: this seems to happen when the client is connected via WIFI (to a LAN connected to the Internet, of course), but not when connected via an ethernet cable. So, I guess this may be triggered by a network connection issue, not by the server closing the connection? In ANY case, the client should show a meaningful error message and quit, if the connection really is broken: not doing so is a bug for sure; and it doesn't seem there's a good reason for it breaking in the first place, either. @zulcss please could you try if you can reproduce it when connected via wifi? ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/790774 Title: ssh hangs after inactivity (maybe when connection is lost) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/790774/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1401783] Re: Requirement argparse breaks package import
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better. I was able to reproduce this issue with python3-stevedore 1.1.0-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu Vivid following the steps outlined above. While researching, I found that upstream has had a similar bug report quite recently and it seems like they are still building for python 2.6 (see bug 1372433 for details). However, I don't believe Ubuntu is still shipping 2.6, so it might be possible to patch the package. I've marked this issue as affecting upstream as well, to hear what they have to say. ** Also affects: python-stevedore Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: stevedore (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Tags added: vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to stevedore in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1401783 Title: Requirement argparse breaks package import To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/python-stevedore/+bug/1401783/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. [Bug 1332220] Re: Backport hdmi_portclock_limit regression fix patch to allow forcing overclocking of DVI/HDMI signals
Some news: solution of Joseph S Tate (jtate) from on 2014-06-19 works partly (thanks Joseph!). These changes allow to use 3.16.0-28 kernel, but during boot on encryption stage (before / is accessible) the resolution is still incorrect, so user has to enter password in blurred screen. I insist this bug should be called an unfixed regression, maybe desirable or inevitable, but still a regression: E.g. user bough a huge monitor which worked perfectly with Windows in the shop, came home and it doesn't work correctly with his favorite Linux distribution with the same DVI-D cable. And for him it's impossible to make xorg-config, put there ModeLines from Xorg logs or xrandr output and etc. It's a step back to 1990th with all this manual xorg-config stuff. And even more, this monitor worked perfectly the year before with the same Linux distro, and now it doesn't. [Bug 1079203] Re: bluetooth and network device pulse audio - jack audio connection defect
Jack over bluetooth still doesn't work. But I guess this isn't a kernel problem. But sometimes you just don't want to do real-time work, don't care if in theory you could buy a better stereo headset than this one, just get some work done. ...and are surprised that this still isn't supported. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = jackd2 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: jackd2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = New ** Summary changed: - bluetooth and network device pulse audio - jack audio connection defect + bluetooth audio (a2dp) and pulse audio network support missing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079203 Title: bluetooth audio (a2dp) and pulse audio network support missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jackd2/+bug/1079203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1404619] [NEW] man init results in systemd man page instead of upstart
Public bug reported: # man init Brings up the documentation for systemd but systemd is not being used as init. This confuses users about which system is being used as init, and how to manage services on the system. You can see that this is still upstart with: # sudo readlink /sbin/init or # ls -l /sbin/init # man init Should still result in the same thing as # man upstart Until systemd is used for init. This effects 14.10 as of Dec 21, 2014 One solution would be to rename this systemd man page to, for example, systemd-init Users that have installed systemd as init will know what they are doing and will be able to find that page. [Bug 1401624] Re: kernel WARNINGs when disabling WiFi with RF kill switch on Intel chip
Laurent Bonnaud, could you please advise to what usage impact this crash has on using Ubuntu? As well, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.16 to 3.18 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. Dear Pilo6, I have a FLT0101 and I've tried the binary version 3.16.0-29.39 from your dropbox and now the touchpad is recognized as such and two-finger horizontal and vertical gestures are working. Moreover also disabling single click while typing seems to work. Do you already have the plan to make a DKMS version of your patch so we can still use the ubuntu stock kernel? [Bug 1385137] Re: [ASUS N550JK] Touchpad recognized wrongly as PS/2 mouse
@Federico There is no good way to make a dkms package, because it can't be done as a single module. Instead I just keep that branch up to date with official Ubuntu kernel. You can just update, when a new kernel vesion is released. Sometime later this will be applied upstream and get into Ubuntu kernels. There must not be any regressions, since there are no potentially dangerous commits. 1% of potential regression may be only with X200MA an UX302LA with 'acpi_osi=' quirk, but nothing has been noticed so far. These commits are not applicable to N550JK model either way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385137 Title: [ASUS N550JK] Touchpad recognized wrongly as PS/2 mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1385137/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1392284] Re: upgrade to 15.04 fails due to extras repository
Hi David. Thanks. I did install from disk but then decided 15.04's not doing enough of what I would like. Reinstalled 14.10/gnome 3.14. Thought you'd better have the bug report anyway. Being in China sometimes not sure if it's a bug or interference. 15.04 will be astonishing a bit further down the line, I think. All the best. [Bug 1388786] Re: TCP stale transfer with erroneous SACK information
I can confirm this bug with the 3.13 kernel shipped with Ubuntu 14.04. The 3.2 kernel shipped with Ubuntu 12.04 did not have the problem, all download were succeeding. The problem started after upgrade to 14.04. The problem also solved after downgrading the kernel to 3.2 by downloading the latest 12.04 (Linux 3.2) one from the PPA. Disabling TCP SACK also resolved the issue. I also tried newer PPA kernels, at least the next one for release with next Ubuntu Update (3.14) does not solve the problem yet. In our case the problems happens mostly with far-away or slower DSL connections, trying to download large files from our webserver. The download starts fine, but suddenly slows down to 0 bytes/sec. It then sometimes recovers, but fails again after a short while. The tcpdump showed, that the client is sending SACKs over and over, but the Ubuntu kernel does not understand them. In our case we also have Cisco hardware inbetween. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388786 Title: TCP stale transfer with erroneous SACK information To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1388786/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1354668] Re: 0ccd:00ab Won't resume from suspend using DVB-t USB stick
Ok, I discovered my computer *never* can resume if I remove the closed source nvidia driver. When I remove this driver, I also cannot resume my current 3.13.0-43 kernel which does resume with this driver installed. So, my report that the bug is still existing in newer kernels, may or may not be valid. I just cannot test this on my computer as the nvidia driver does not work with these newer kernels. Anyway, I still think resuming is not the problem. I guess the problem is when trying to enter sleep state. When the DVB-t stick is playing content, it is sending data to the kernel. Probably the kernel does not block this data stream when going to sleep causing this data to fill some kernel buffers which then causes the computer to fail entering sleep and stop responding. [Bug 1404548] Re: sort --reverse does not reverse numeric sorts
This is not a bug, but expected behaviour. If an ordering option is supplied to '-k' ('n' in this particular case), global ordering options are overridden. I.e. when sort is called this way: sort --reverse -k2 the global option '--reverse' takes effect. But in this case: sort --reverse -k2n the '--reverse' option is overridden by 'n', therefore the command becomes equivalent to: sort -n -k2 The solution woud be to to either stick to global options: sort --reverse --numeric-sort -k2 or if sorting options for multiple fields are required, to add a local reverse option to '-k': sort -k2rn BTW: this behaviour is also documented in the man page: ... -k, --key=KEYDEF sort via a key; KEYDEF gives location and type ... KEYDEF is F[.C][OPTS][,F[.C][OPTS]] for start and stop position, where F is a field number and C a character position in the field; both are origin 1, and the stop position defaults to the line's end. If neither -t nor -b is in effect, characters in a field are counted from the beginning of the preceding whitespace. OPTS is one or more single-letter ordering options [bdfgiMhnRrV], which override global ordering options for that key. If no key is given, use the entire line as the key. ... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1404548 Title: sort --reverse does not reverse numeric sorts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/coreutils/+bug/1404548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
