[Bug 945433] Re: Incorrect GPT length should be handled better
I see this crash with an external USB disk with MBR only (no GPT!) I tried to shrink a FAT32 partition with gparted when the crash occurred the first time. Now the partition still has its old size, but the FAT32 filesystem has the new, lower size. Fortunately no data was lost. [Bug 1300235] Re: init crashed with SIGSEGV
James Hunt, I currently have a consistent way of reproducing this. First, I have both Chromium and Chrome installed as per below in a fresh+fully updated version of Trusty. Next I opened up Synaptic typed in the Quick Filter textbox pepper highlight pepperflashplugin-nonfree click Visit Homepage and this consistently causes a _sbin_init.0.crash file to appear in var/crash. For me, the WORKAROUND is just to simply not click the link as the problem has not been reproducible otherwise so far. [Bug 1404612] Re: Power management of the wireless LAN does not work.
katsu, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.13.0-40 to 3.13.0-41 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? [Bug 1406014] Re: Bluetooth: can't load firmware, may not work correctly
Hi Christopher, I have a feeling that the bluetooth device can preserve state when rebooting, unless I take out the battery for a moment. In particular, it can lock up. I have a feeling that firmware problems can cause that. As a crosscheck, I've confirmed that everything works on Windows. Changing the version of linux-firmware leads to the following result: - Bluetooth GUI does not find the bluetooth device anymore dmesg shows [ 3003.856473] usbcore: deregistering interface driver btusb [ 3003.858704] Bluetooth: hci0 urb 8800afd83cc0 failed to resubmit (2) [ 3003.876244] usbcore: registered new interface driver btusb [ 3003.876290] usb 1-1.4: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 3003.876299] usb 1-1.4: Falling back to user helper [ 3003.878871] Bluetooth: can't load firmware, may not work correctly I've reverted back to the current firmware. Unloading and loading the btusb module yields the same result. Then I've power-cycled the computer including taking out the battery. The device is displayed again in the GUI. This is now the log entry when unloading and loading btusb: [ 339.399902] usbcore: deregistering interface driver btusb [ 339.415214] usb 1-1.4: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 339.415221] usb 1-1.4: Falling back to user helper [ 339.415319] usbcore: registered new interface driver btusb [ 339.416192] Bluetooth: can't load firmware, may not work correctly This is the log message when stopping and starting bluetoothd with sudo service bluetooth restart, does that tell you something? [Bug 1406014] Re: Bluetooth: can't load firmware, may not work correctly
uellue, if it works in Windows, then it clearly would be a Ubuntu versus a hardware fault. As well, if you have to play all these games of pulling out a battery, rebooting, etc. to get it to work in Ubuntu, it would appear to be some wonky timing issue. Despite this, in order to further narrow the offending package (ex. is this an issue occurring with a specific kernel, firmware, and userspace combination) would it be possible for you to create another partition, install Precise 12.04.1 via http://old- releases.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04.1/ubuntu-12.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso , and fully update (be sure not to upgrade the kernel as per the enablement stack upgrade outlined in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack), and advise if the bluetooth still works? If so, could you please install just the firmware from Trusty to see if it still works? ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406014 Title: Bluetooth: can't load firmware, may not work correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1406014/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1406233] [NEW] kdev-python package should be made to align with upstream's kdevelop-python
Public bug reported: Upstream has recently added a package kdevelop-python containing the Py 3 plugin for KDevelop. When Kubuntu inherits this, we see two packages kdev-python for Py 2 and kdevelop-python for Py 3. Obviously, the naming situation is less than optimal. I have submitted an upstream bug asking for the kdevelop-python package to be renamed to kdevelop-python3 since it applies to Py 3 only. See https://bugs.debian.org/774141 Kubuntu should also align with upstream in the sense that the kdev- python should be renamed kdevelop-python once upstream moves the Py 3 plugin to kdevelop-python3. In fact, it would seem that kdev-python i.e. the Py 2 plugin need not be packaged separately downstream at all, and should instead be done upstream. ** Affects: kdev-python (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406233 Title: kdev-python package should be made to align with upstream's kdevelop- python To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdev-python/+bug/1406233/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1405437] Re: [Dell Precision M4800] iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260
I cannot adjust WiFi network parameters to see whether this would affect the reproducibility of the bug. However here are more details about network's parameters: 4b) WPA2-PSK 4c) No MAC filtering 4d) No QoS AFAIK 4e) I don't think the router exposes the beacon interval value at all 4f) I didn't enable any firewall on the router 4g) The problem has happened on several channels. 5) At least 4 other WiFi devices do not have problems like this one. 6) The distance to AP was about 3-4 meters 7) The only obstruction was a wooden shelf with big holes like this one http://www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/30275861/ 7a) I could not test this 8) I do not see this problem at work with Cisco APs, however we don't get a big competition for channels at work. There are a lot of different private APs visible in my apartment. 9) I have never tried that with previous releases. I do not have the option to try. 10) Since I have already tried the latest 3.19-rc1 kernel, I don't see the point to test compat-wireless 11) Yes, it occurs in 3.19-rc1 13) I will try the ndiswrapper later. 16) I'm using linux-firmware 1.138. I haven't tried the previous version. Latest Intel firmware is from 3/25/2014, I assume it's already included in linux-firmware 1.138. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405437 Title: [Dell Precision M4800] iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1405437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1386721] Re: Graphics Slow After Upgrade 14.04 - 14.10
Radeon 7730M using the i915 driver. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Chelsea LP [Radeon HD 7730M] [1002:682f] (rev ff) After upgrading to 14.10 tonight, I noticed a slowdown especially while using totem. I was getting about 0.2 frames per second using totem. VLC appeared to run but was choppy at larger resolutions. Other than totem, the primary symptom was sluggishness. It took 1 second for gnome-shell to react to selecting and dragging a gnome- terminal that was in the background behind chrome. After the upgrade, the kernel appeared to be running the i915 module (as seen by lshw -c video). ibus-gtk was already installed, so it wasn't that either. Then I installed the edger's xserver ppa. This helped both gnome-shell and totem, considerably. Videos actually ran for a second or two at a time, but were still choppy in totem. What appeared to be happening was that gnome-shell would spike the cpu going to 80% when totem was running. Gnome-shell was more responsive but still sluggish using the edgers xserver. Dragging a gnome-terminal in the background still took around a second for gnome to respond. Then I installed gnome-staging ppa. This helped the most, eliminating the gnome-shell cpu spike while playing totem, and making the windows much more responsive including dragging a gnome-terminal that was in the background. So it looked like both things helped to varying degrees. I got a better totem frame rate using the edgers x server. But gnome-staging gave me a better gnome-shell performance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1386721 Title: Graphics Slow After Upgrade 14.04 - 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1386721/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1405437] Re: [Dell Precision M4800] iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260
arty, regarding your answers: 4b) WPA2-PSK - If you remove encryption entirely, or adjust it to WPA-PSK/TKIP, WEP does it change anything? 4d) No QoS AFAIK - So, in your router, what options do you have? 4f) I didn't enable any firewall on the router - Does your router have an option to disable this? 4g) The problem has happened on several channels. - Which ones specifically? Did you try them all? 5) At least 4 other WiFi devices do not have problems like this one. - What devices/OSes specifically? 9) I have never tried that with previous releases. I do not have the option to try. - One may test prior releases (live environment is fine) via http://releases.ubuntu.com/ . Saucy would be helpful as it tests the next oldest firmware version for your chipset. 10) Since I have already tried the latest 3.19-rc1 kernel, I don't see the point to test compat-wireless - compat-wireless has the commits from linux-next in them, which is more advanced than 3.19-rc1 (linux-stable).
