[Bug 1417261] [NEW] On app removal, account access permissions persist

2015-02-02 Thread Niklas Wenzel
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce:

1) Install an app which uses online accounts.
2) Uninstall it.
3) Reinstall the application OR ANOTHER APP WITH THE SAME NAMESPACE and it will
still be able to access the online account.

I could see this being used for phishing when the user is asked to manually
install a click package with the same namespace as another app, which would
then allow bad entities to have access to the online accounts of the original
app.
It could either be presented as a completely seperate app when the user has
removed the original one or as an official version by the people doing the
phishing.

Therefore, I vote for removing account information from apps when they
are uninstalled.

[Bug 1268771] Re: NVIDIA Prime fails with Linux 3.13

2015-02-02 Thread Charl P. Botha
I'm seeing exactly this behaviour with nvidia-346 (from xorg-edgers,
because I urgently need libGLESv2.so which is NOT included in the
nvidia-331 packages for amd-64; a bug) and nvidia-340 (same reason) on
kernel 3.13.0-45 and Ubuntu 14.04

I can get bumblebee working on this setup, and can confirm with glxinfo
that the nvidia is being used. However, with bumblebee completely
purged, nvidia-prime always gives me the black login screen after
prime-select nvidia. Intel mode works fine.

Any hints on gettings this to work would be greatly appreciated.

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

There is an existing bug report at red hat websites that exactly
discribes what happens to my ubuntu server installation.

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=161898

I can confirm that this bug is affecting ubuntu 14.04 servers as well as
debian installations we are running in our university network. I can
further confirm that all workarounds stated in the last post by Chris
(2014-02-20 12:17:53 EST) work and he nailed pretty much all my findings
on our servers. So please read the last post by Chris.

There is probably also a relation to this launchpad issue: Bug
#1388786, but I'm not shure about that. Is there any way you can provide
me with a linux kernel that solves this issue. I'm willing to test and
  report here.

  Thanks in advance

[Bug 1417274] [NEW] CVE-2015-0221 backport broke serving static content through GZipMiddleware

2015-02-02 Thread Nelson Elhage
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu backported the CVE-2015-0221 fix, which makes
`django.views.static.serve` stream file contents. However,
https://github.com/django/django/commit/1e39d0f6280abf34c7719db5e7ed1c333f5e5919
was not backported, and without that fix, the Django GZipMiddleware is
unable to handle streaming content, breaking django applications that
combine static file serving with the gzip middleware. See upstream bug
https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/24158 for more information.

[Bug 1268833] Re: 10ec:8178 Wireless not working in 13.10 and 14.04 for rtl8192ce (RTL8188CE)/asus pce-n15

2015-02-02 Thread Sasha
So, has this been fixed yet? Been struggling with this c*** for over a
year now. So annoying. I have 100Mbit(10MB speed). line and I am lucky
if I could pull off 15Mbit STABLE over a periode of several hours.
Normally it jumps all over. From as low as 3-4Mbit! I did a ping on
www.google.com and the return on the packets were dismal. The ping was
ranging from 7 m/s and jumping to 1000m/s.

When connected with cable everything works perfect. When I am on
wireless all hell breaks loose. Everything lags, indefinitenly.
Restarting computer fixes the problem for a periode but then it's all
back. I have the rtl8192ce version.

Though, after following these steps, even though it was for rtl8192cu
version, it boosted my speed to 45Mbit(the loss is still 50Mbit) but the
internet hasn't opened this quick for I don't know how long. And when I
test my speed it is showing constant speed at 44-46Mbit. Which is pretty
darn good considering what I had just few hours ago.

Try this:

https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/reserve-7

Btw, can someone please post some updates on this thread. Has this issue
been completely solved or is this still unsolved?

[Bug 1217407] Re: whoopsie spams the log with online messages

2015-02-02 Thread Brian Murray
** Description changed:

+ Test Case
+ -
+ In the event your system's install of whoopsie isn't spamming syslog (or
/var/log/upstart/whoopsie.log) with online messages you can recreate the
situation via the following.
+ 1) sudo route add -net 10.0.3.0/24 gw 192.168.10.1 dev wlan0
+ 2) sudo route del -net 10.0.3.0/24 gw 192.168.10.1 dev wlan0
+
+ The adding and removing of routes should for force whoopsie to log that
+ it is online. With the version of the package from the -proposed
+ repository you should no longer see the online messages due to a route
+ change.
+
+ Original Description
+
It is mostly the online messages:

[Bug 1417296] [NEW] package nvidia-304-updates 304.125-0ubuntu0.0.1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting a removal

2015-02-02 Thread test051102
Public bug reported:

My motherboard is based on NVidia 8200. I am using this machine as a
HTPC running Kodi. The system was running fine using Ubuntu 12.04.
However, after upgrading to 14.04 the nouveau driver is sometimes
causing crashes. To fix these problems I tried to install a proprietary
NVidia driver. The latest driver will crash UBuntu completely after
launching Kodi.

While trying to activate the 304 driver the system did take several
minutes and the progress bar stopped moving. After rebooting the machine
the current error was reported. It's strange that there are so many
problems with Trusty. I wish I had never upgraded my HTPC.

[Bug 1268217] Re: bumblebee-nvidia should remove nvidia-prime (conflicting packages)

2015-02-02 Thread Peter Wu
You can have both bumblebee and nvidia-prime installed. Even nouveau +
PRIME would work, it just requires appriopriate configuration. This
could be useful for experimenting or if you want to use
bumblebeed/bbswitch to save power and to use nvidia-prime at other times
(requires restarting X though).

Detecting whether bumblebee is enabled or not probably requires checking
for checking whether `/etc/init/bumblebeed.conf.override` contains
`manual`. Upon installation the daemon is always started, but it might
fail to start in some cases (when the graphics card is hidden via BIOS
settings for example).

It won't respond to pings either, and ARP requests at that point fail:

(I'm not sure pxelinux responds to pings, but the ARP request should
work I assume)

It won't respond to pings either, and ARP requests at that point fail:

(I'm not sure pxelinux responds to pings, but the ARP request should
work I assume)
