I am not sure. I have to press f2 and log in using what appears to be

2015-02-18 Thread Stefan Bader
Turning off scatter gather disables the use of fragments in send
buffers. So for the xen-netfront driver there is no chance that those
fragments end up requiring more than the 19 pages that it can handle in
one transaction.

[Bug 1072206] Re: [nvidia] Window content is black or transparent

2015-02-18 Thread Kieran Grant
I have not noticed this in Ubuntu 14.04.1 until now because I had
previous been using Openbox (LXDE Desktop Environment), but after
switching back to Unity I noticed this.

I haven't seen any issues prior with any OpenGL programs under the LXDE
Desktop Environment nor so far any artifacts/glitches in OpenGL software
on Unity.

In my case it has nothing to do with Video memory (only about 23% used,
hovering at about 9% GPU Utilization), as far as I can tell, this is not
an NVIDIA bug, but a compiz bug.

For Reference:
Ubuntu 14.04.1
Linux Kernel 3.13.0-45-generic #74-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 13 19:36:28 UTC 2015
x86_64

[Bug 1317811] Re: Dropped packets on EC2, xen_netfront: xennet: skb rides the rocket: x slots

2015-02-18 Thread Stefan Bader
I think that is at least enough data to claim this issue verified. @Jon,
you could check whether you have the same issue by looking at dmesg and
ifconfig output on the sender side. If you see the rides the rocket
messages together with an incrementing tx drop count, that is this bug.
And it should be going away even without disabling sg when using the
proposed kernel for the sender.

And though it probably should not cause that bad effects, but on the
other hand higher layer applications can expect the tcp layer to correct
dropped packets. Which maybe is done but possibly ending up (by trying
to avoid copying data in memory) with the same (or similar) fragmented
send buffer. And in the end all re-tries are dropped.

[Bug 1313892] Re: Display Brightness not Adjustable

2015-02-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ben, as per http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-
dwnl/VPCZ21C5E/list an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS
is available (R0173H5). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes

-so far no IPV6 trafic jam's whit aiccu, but single missing packet's

At Ubuntu 14.04 3.13.0-39-generic LTS, twin server configuration (

[Bug 1423083] [NEW] Mouse cursor invisible on synergy client with Ubuntu 14.04.1

2015-02-18 Thread Nicolas Krzywinski
Public bug reported:

After upgrading Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 on the synergy client side, there are
issues with the visibility of the mouse cursor:
a) When entering the synergy client screen, the mouse cursor is invisible while
being functional
b) The surprise: when leaving the client screen and entering again directly
afterwards, the mouse cursor is visible!

This leads to the uncomfortable workaround of switching two times from
synergy host to synergy client, before beginning the work on the synergy
client side.

The issue is reproducible and seems to be strictly repetitive:
1st enter of the synergy client screen: mouse cursor invisible
2nd enter of the client screen: cursor visible
3rd enter: invisible
4th enter: visible
... and so on

It seems to not like odd numbers!! :D

I tried the solution from this related bug report in debian, but this
didn't worked for me: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=729546

Any hints?

[Bug 1422835] Re: Unity8 stucks in icon loading code

2015-02-18 Thread Albert Astals Cid
The icon provider in the SDK is returning sizes for icons that are
confusing against the request that make the size grow forever

requested icon battery-080-charging QSize(24, 24)
returned QSize(37, 24)
requested icon battery-080-charging QSize(37, 24)
returned QSize(57, 37)
requested icon battery-080-charging QSize(57, 24)
returned QSize(88, 57)
requested icon battery-080-charging QSize(57, 37)

I'll propose a patch that fixes this

[Bug 1353453] Re: m.here.com doesn’t close authentication page after logging in

2015-02-18 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I just looked into this issue further, and the login page consists of a
form with the following code:

form id=hereSignInForm method=post name=signInForm
action=HEREAccount_logincallback.php onsubmit=return false;
[…]
div class=modal-button-row
button id=signInBtn class=call-to-action primary type=submit
tabindex=4
spanSign in/span
/button
/div
/form

The 'onsubmit=return false;' guarantees that the form will never be
submitted. It seems like plainly broken code on here.com’s side. I verified
that I’m getting the same code on chrome on android, so login doesn’t work
there either.
I’m now going to mark this bug fixed, as the original issue (the authentication
page not closing) should be fixed.

[Bug 1362848] Re: ubuntu 14.04 after install nvidia binary driver 331.89 black screen and freeze

2015-02-18 Thread Arhiiivs
Same problem here. When the nvidia GPU is prime-selected, I'm getting a black
screen on startup, though Ubuntu booted and I can hear it working when I adjust
sound volume with the keyboard. When intel GPU prime-selected, everything
works fine.
Like others who posted here, for me the GPU switching function worked before
end of January, when after some updates (I really don't know which ones, I
didn't follow) this error occured and keeps persisting. I tryed the solutions
described on the posts #15 and #18 but they didn't work for me. Additionally I
get an error message at startup: System program problem detected. Do you want
to report the problem now?. When I select Report problem..., it shows a
screen where I can check error details and it says ExecutablePath
/usr/bin/Xorg.
Please keep this thread alive, we need a solution.

OS: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS 64bit
Laptop: Acer E5-571G
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 840M and Intel HD 4400
Kernel: 3.13.0-45-generic
CPU: Intel Core i7-4510U

Tom WInterhalder, as per
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=4096176swLangOid=8swEnvOid=4060
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available

[Bug 1419836] Re: LibreOffice 4.4 (PPA): Extension can't be installed: Message: com.sun.star.uno.RuntimeException) unknown error!

2015-02-18 Thread cpina
Hi - I've tested and it works as expected (Ubuntu 15.05 and
libreoffice-1:4.4.0-1ubuntu2~vivid1 fresh PPA). Out of interest: do you
have any plans to fix this problem for users who use
https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/libreoffice-4-4
repostiory and Ubuntu 14.10?

Regards,

[Bug 1297849] Re: Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files

2015-02-18 Thread Matt Mower
Like #96, I also am experiencing this issue with a clean install of
Ubuntu 14.10 (64bit). I originally had this problem upon upgrading from
14.04 to 14.10. I decided it would be a good opportunity to start fresh,
so I chose the erase disk option during install (just trying to stress
this really is a clean install of regular, unmodified Ubuntu).

[Bug 1317811] Re: Dropped packets on EC2, xen_netfront: xennet: skb rides the rocket: x slots

2015-02-18 Thread Heikki Hannikainen
On the other hand, turning off scatter gather caused a rather constant
0.1% packet loss (transmit drops) in my setup (trusty on Xen). VPN
gateways, with NAT and firewalling, relatively high throughput at times.
Enabling scatter gather removes the constant small packet loss but then
I do get the rides the rocket events.

[Bug 1422680] Re: v4l2 regression: T420s built in camera stopped working

2015-02-18 Thread dronus
I've installed 3.19.0-031900-generic.

The regression is fixed, partly.

VLC, Chrome and Firefox are able to use it again by their default
settings.

guvcview is not, the preview image is still lacking, however the
warnings have changed, no more 'device busy', but several warnings
instead:

control id: 0x009a0901 failed to get value (error -1)
control id: 0x009a0902 failed to get value (error -1)
control id: 0x009a0903 failed to get value (error -1)
control id: 0x009a0908 failed to get value (error -1)
control id: 0x009a0909 failed to get value (error -1)
control id: 0x009a090d failed to get value (error -1)

guvcview was working well with 3.2 too. However, this may be an
compatibility problem that is caused by guvcview's implementation
details.

If this is clarified, we nay tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

2015-02-18 Thread Otto Kekäläinen
Thanks @Julien!

What did you have installed before you upgraded into mariadb 5.5.41? Did
you migrate from mysql 5.5 or from an older version of mariadb? Was the
previous version installed from the official Ubuntu repositories or
somewhere else?

When you were asked the migration question in the graphical UI, did you
respond with 'yes' or 'no'?

[Bug 1358966] Re: bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu1: bcmwl kernel module failed to build [error: macro alloc_netdev requires 4 arguments, but only 3 given]

2015-02-18 Thread HugoHirsch
I ran into this problem when running with an upstream kernel -
installing above bcmwl-kernel-source disables my WLAN (bug 1385059).
Thus I prefer the WLAN and life with the 'System problem detected'-popup
upon each startup.

Lenovo S10e running 14.10 and
3.19.0-031900.201502091451 upstream kernel.

[Bug 1423026] Re: Build fails due to test creation of test database that already exists

2015-02-18 Thread Norvald H. Ryeng
I did some detective work: mysql_install_db 5.5 was patched in
Debian/Ubuntu to not create the test database. In 5.6 packaging,
mysql_install_db isn't run during a normal install (the necessary lines
are part of postinst instead), so it was never necessary to patch it to
not create the test database.

If you need a line that works in both 5.5 and 5.6:

mysql --socket=${MYSQL_UNIX_PORT} --execute CREATE DATABASE
${DO_MYSQL_DBNAME} IF NOT EXISTS;

The last clause of the SQL string makes sure it doesn't fail if the
database already exists.

Another option is to patch mysql_install_db in 5.6 packaging.

[Bug 857651] Re: Unable to hide users from login screen / user switcher

2015-02-18 Thread Kieran Grant
The workaround I am using to this bug is simple:
Copy /var/lib/AccountsService/users/root to /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user
It's is probably a bad thing to do...

What actually happens if one uses SystemAccount=true in that file, as
far as I understand (correct me if I am wrong) that won't grant any
special powers to that user, still relies on group membership and
PolicyKit rules.

Essentially as a temporary workaround the following lines hide the user:
[User]
SystemAccount=true

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

[Bug 1295405] [NEW] [needs-packaging] Package and upload to vivid

2015-02-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The Xubuntu team would like to request the upload of a new package to
the archive for Vivid. This is an extremely useful app to easily modify
lightdm-gtk-greeter's settings with a GUI, which are otherwise only
exposed to the user via modifying the file /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-
greeter.conf (with a text-editor with root-rights).

The app itself is written in python and mostly modifies the above
mentioned config-file. It has mostly been authored by kalgasnik, but the
code and the functionality were reviewed and discussed with me and Sean
Davis. (Note: all three of us are contributors/maintainers of lightdm-
gtk-greeter itself.)

In this process, the app has undergone quite some testing (there is a
PPA holding packages for easily testing it) and is solid enough that
we'd like to propose it for inclusion into the Vivid repos.

This package doesn't affect any others directly or indirectly, so there
is no chance of conflict or breaking other packages.

[Bug 1287361] Re: add support for keyboard shortcuts

2015-02-18 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
The order of the tabs are changing during switching to next tab.
For example:

If you have tabs: 1 2 3 4
and swittch to the next one (2), we will receive: 2 1 3 4
and swittch to the next time , we will receive: 1 2 3 4

I would like to ask Ubuntu UX, if it will be possible to not change
order of tabs during switching?

In future we would like to support convergence, and it will be good to not
rewrite webbrowser-app application.
Please let me know what do you think about that.

[Bug 1423077] Re: Rotating document only works once via keyboard shortcut

2015-02-18 Thread frznlogic
Bingo! :) The window was not resized to perfectly fit 1 page, so the
first ctrl+left made the page need scrolling... With evince in
fullscreen, the arrows continue working.

I still think this is unexpected behavior from a users point of view, do
you agree?
