[Bug 1430883] Re: continuously receive the message [drm:radeon_acpi_init] ERROR Cannot find a backlight controller
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.0 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Bug 1428486] Re: Only start rpc.statd if $NEED_STATD
rather than preventing the user being able to systemct enable/disable, we have that option to follow that path: 1. patch to remove the Wants= in nfs-server.service and add an [Install] section to both rpc-statd.service and rpc-statd-notify.service with: WantedBy=nfs-server.service 2. and doing the one time enablement (and sedding the config file as we did for others) + shipping an upstart override if not disabled That way users would have the systemd tooling to enable/disable the service and we use the same thing for the one time enablement/disablement. Making sense? [Bug 1430861] Re: installation crashed
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We noticed that you were installing the LTS version of Ubuntu using an older version of the installation media. The latest point release of 14.04 is 14.04.2. Please try installing from that version of the installation media and see if that resolves your issue. Thanks in advance! [This is an automated message. [Bug 1427859] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From helle...@us.ibm.com 2015-03-11 16:16 EDT--- Hi Mauricio, Thanks for your detailed analysis, but I think we already knew this: that the separator was an issue, that you have submitted patches to Ubuntu to resolve it; that we still don't know (per LP 1430074) whether we'll end up with the 'p' separator or the '-path' separator when it all shakes out. And understood, most of the real issues are in udev (and the installer), which actually affect which device nodes are created and removed. That's why the focus of this bug was intended to be just the inconsistency in the way the tools report. And I think your comments above confirm that the default output does *not* match the device nodes as they actually exist. Again: this is a cosmetic issue and so not a hot bug. But I'd like to keep it open until the separator issues are resolved. If we end up with -part, there may be no work required at all. But if we go with 'p' as you are proposing... then I'd like to see if Canonical is willing to fix the tools so they accurately reflect the device nodes as exist, as they seem to do for devices other than mpath. If you strongly disagree I'll leave it closed. Otherwise I'd like to reopen. Give me your thoughts, please. [Bug 1430893] Re: [FFe] Install Fcitx for Chinese users
** Description changed: There are currently two main supported input method frameworks available for CJK users: IBus (current default) and Fcitx. Both are mature projects, but Fcitx is better suited to Chinese users than IBus is, and is already the default in Ubuntu Kylin. IBus is increasingly moving in the direction of removing features upstream like tracking input state on a per-context basis. Also, the leading input method provider in China with more than 300 million users, Sogou, only supports Fcitx under Linux. Skinning support is non-existent in IBus. We've added support for Fcitx on the same level as IBus in Unity, so - this FFe is a proposal to make Fcitx the default for Chinese locales - this cycle, as a transition towards making Fcitx the default for all - users next cycle. The changes should simply be seeding Fcitx and its - related packages on the CD image, as well as possible changes to im- - config. [Bug 798414] Re: update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error when there isn't enough free space
I stumbled across this bug after purchasing a used Dell PowerEdge 2850 and installing Ubuntu 14.04 server. I've been building kernels for years and so I downloaded kernel 3.13.11 from ftp.kernel.org and built a new kernel and a new set of modules. But update-initramfs failed do to lack of space in /boot. I did install with lvm enabled, and the size of /boot that was created is 240 megs (240972 1K blocks.) This was fine until I built and installed new modules. So the way I fixed it was by moving the old initrd.img-3.13.0-24-generic to the / directory, and then creating a symlink. (I doubt that kernel will now boot, but it will depend how lvm handles the boot process, and I'm not very familiar with lvm yet.) Anyway, after moving the old initrd there was enough space in /boot for update-initramfs to finish successfully. Regrettably, it left me with only 198 blocks available in /boot. I am now investigating whether it is feasible to resize /boot or not. But suffice it to say that if the installation created a larger default /boot partition, many of these problems would not be reported. The new kernel is running fine, so at least I was able to recover the system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798414 Title: update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error when there isn't enough free space To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/initramfs-tools/+bug/798414/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
