[Bug 1422388] Re: Fetch passwords from CloudStack virtual router

2015-03-11 Thread Dan Watkins
** Description changed:

+ === Begin SRU Information ===
+
+ [Impact]
+ Currently, the CloudStack data source will only handle SSH keys. While SSH
keys are the preferred method for authenticating against cloud instances, there
are some CloudStack deployments that do not yet support adding SSH keys to
instances when creating instances via their web interface. Ubuntu images are
unusable through the web interface for users of these CloudStack deployments.
+
+ [Fix]
+ The CloudStack data source has been extended to interface with CloudStack's
password server in order to fetch passwords. These passwords are applied to
the ubuntu user.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Create an instance through a CloudStack web interface, which will give you a
password. Confirm that this password can be used to log in to the ubuntu user.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The changes are limited to the CloudStack data source so only CloudStack
users will be affected. They are designed so that if they fail, they won't
stop the CloudStack data source from functioning as it currently does.
+
+ === End SRU Information ===
+
CloudStack supports setting passwords in instances, which it would be
helpful to support. See [0] for the documentation of this functionality,
and [1] for their implementation of it.

Enabling and disabling child scopes from settings in an agg scope often causes

[Bug 1327753] Re: FTBFS: hwloc-contrib 1.9-1 build-depends on unavailable package libxnvctrl-dev

2015-03-11 Thread Erich E. Hoover
Wow, thanks Alberto - that would be great! We (wine-staging) would like
to link to libXNVCtrl and having it be a dynamic library removes the
ambiguity about what we're supposed to do license-wise (and it
dramatically simplifies our configure check!).

Re: [Bug 1430055] Re: USB Soundbar 413c:a503 not working

2015-03-11 Thread Fred Warren
Close the report. The 3.13-0.46.77 and 4.0.0.0-40rc3 are fine. In
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf I have:

options snd-usb-audio index=-2
. more items index=-2
options snd-usb-audio index=0

I am not sure how both lines got in there but my usb card was trying to
load up as index 0 which was not available. After deleting snd-usb-audio
index=0 everything is working fine.

[Bug 1430561] Re: hp-plugin crashes with error: Python gobject/dbus may be not installed

2015-03-11 Thread goutam
Hi Natalia,

Can you please download the ' hplip-3.15.2.run ' auto installer file from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html.
Run command 'sh hplip-3.15.2.run' in terminal. This will warn that auto
installation is not supported for ubuntu 15.04 . But you can still proceed to
install.

Let us know if the installation went smooth.

After installation, try configuring the printer using command 'hp-setup'
.

Let us know if you are facing the same as above.

Rgds,
goutam

[Bug 1430883] Re: continuously receive the message [drm:radeon_acpi_init] ERROR Cannot find a backlight controller

2015-03-11 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.0 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1428486] Re: Only start rpc.statd if $NEED_STATD

2015-03-11 Thread Didier Roche
rather than preventing the user being able to systemct enable/disable,
we have that option to follow that path:

1. patch to remove the Wants= in nfs-server.service and add an [Install]
section to both rpc-statd.service and rpc-statd-notify.service with:
WantedBy=nfs-server.service
2. and doing the one time enablement (and sedding the config file as we did for
others) + shipping an upstart override if not disabled

That way users would have the systemd tooling to enable/disable the
service and we use the same thing for the one time
enablement/disablement.

Making sense?

PS: I see the conffiles also have NEE_GSSD, should we handle it in a
similar way?

As a pointer, even the 2.20.0 + the patch gives the same build failure,
even though eg. Arch has pyqt5 5.4.1 + calibre 2.20.0 built.

[Bug 1430888] [NEW] DRI_PRIME with radeon/intel windows do not draw

2015-03-11 Thread Simon K
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 15.04 and Xorg version 1:7.7+7ubuntu2

Step to reproduce:
start DRI_PRIME=1 steam (or any other complex 3D program like minecraft)

What is expected:
the program should show it's window(s), those should have the same content as
if started without DRI_PRIME.

What actually happens:
most times the program just shows a freezed version of the background the
window appeared on.

Additional Informations:
I have the newest BIOS version.

[Bug 1430861] Re: installation crashed

2015-03-11 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We noticed that you were installing the LTS version of
Ubuntu using an older version of the installation media. The latest
point release of 14.04 is 14.04.2. Please try installing from that
version of the installation media and see if that resolves your issue.
Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1427859] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2015-03-11 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From helle...@us.ibm.com 2015-03-11 16:16 EDT---
Hi Mauricio,

Thanks for your detailed analysis, but I think we already knew this:
that the separator was an issue, that you have submitted patches to
Ubuntu to resolve it; that we still don't know (per LP 1430074) whether
we'll end up with the 'p' separator or the '-path' separator when it all
shakes out. And understood, most of the real issues are in udev (and
the installer), which actually affect which device nodes are created and
removed.

That's why the focus of this bug was intended to be just the
inconsistency in the way the tools report. And I think your comments
above confirm that the default output does *not* match the device nodes
as they actually exist.

Again: this is a cosmetic issue and so not a hot bug. But I'd like to
keep it open until the separator issues are resolved. If we end up
with -part, there may be no work required at all. But if we go with 'p'
as you are proposing... then I'd like to see if Canonical is willing to
fix the tools so they accurately reflect the device nodes as exist, as
they seem to do for devices other than mpath.

If you strongly disagree I'll leave it closed. Otherwise I'd like to
reopen. Give me your thoughts, please. Thanks for all your work here!

[Bug 859101] Re: fglrx 2:8.881-0ubuntu2: fglrx kernel module failed to build (kernel includes at ... not found or incomplete file: .../linux/version.h)

2015-03-11 Thread Robert M. Muncrief
Same problem on Ubuntu 14.04.2. Can't install fglrx for HD3300.
version.h is missing. The worst part is that the default drivers are
very slow and trying to run a virtual machine with them is almost
impossible. I hope this can be fixed, it seems it's been a problem for a
long time.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1430904] [NEW] toolbar example doesn't work

2015-03-11 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

Using the current vivid version
bzr checkout lp:ubuntu-ui-toolkit/staging; cd staging; qmlscene

the example has no toolbar showing, it did before the recent uitk update
(the toolbar is deprecated in 1.2 but that code imports 0.1)

Francis: can you inspect your system and see if there is something obvious
to explain this?
- is there enough disk space available to store, unpack and replace the
package
- is the package file damaged
- what happens if you try to download and install the package manually with
apt-get? with dpkg?

[Bug 1430893] Re: [FFe] Install Fcitx for Chinese users

2015-03-11 Thread William Hua
** Description changed:

There are currently two main supported input method frameworks available
for CJK users: IBus (current default) and Fcitx. Both are mature
projects, but Fcitx is better suited to Chinese users than IBus is, and
is already the default in Ubuntu Kylin. IBus is increasingly moving in
the direction of removing features upstream like tracking input state on
a per-context basis. Also, the leading input method provider in China
with more than 300 million users, Sogou, only supports Fcitx under
Linux. Skinning support is non-existent in IBus.

We've added support for Fcitx on the same level as IBus in Unity, so
- this FFe is a proposal to make Fcitx the default for Chinese locales
- this cycle, as a transition towards making Fcitx the default for all
- users next cycle. The changes should simply be seeding Fcitx and its
- related packages on the CD image, as well as possible changes to im-
- config. Those who have explicitly selected IBus as their chosen input
- method should be unaffected; these changes will only affect new users,
- and users who have never explicitly chosen an input method framework in
- their language settings.
+ this FFe is a proposal to install Fcitx via language-selector for users
+ who want the Chinese langpacks installed, as a transition towards making
+ Fcitx the default for all users next cycle. This will involve changes to
+ language-selector, im-config, and language-pack-zh-*. Those who are not
+ using the Chinese langpack, or have explicitly selected IBus as their
+ chosen input method should be unaffected; these changes will only affect
+ new Chinese users, and Chinese users who have never explicitly chosen an
+ input method framework in their language settings.

** Also affects: language-selector (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided

[Bug 798414] Re: update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error when there isn't enough free space

2015-03-11 Thread Glendon Gross
I stumbled across this bug after purchasing a used Dell PowerEdge 2850
and installing Ubuntu 14.04 server. I've been building kernels for
years and so I downloaded kernel 3.13.11 from ftp.kernel.org and built a
new kernel and a new set of modules. But update-initramfs failed do to
lack of space in /boot. I did install with lvm enabled, and the size of
/boot that was created is 240 megs (240972 1K blocks.) This was fine
until I built and installed new modules. So the way I fixed it was by
moving the old initrd.img-3.13.0-24-generic to the / directory, and then
creating a symlink. (I doubt that kernel will now boot, but it will
depend how lvm handles the boot process, and I'm not very familiar with
lvm yet.) Anyway, after moving the old initrd there was enough space in
/boot for update-initramfs to finish successfully. Regrettably, it
left me with only 198 blocks available in /boot. I am now
investigating whether it is feasible to resize /boot or not. But
suffice it to say that if the installation created a larger default
/boot partition, many of these problems would not be reported. The new
kernel is running fine, so at least I was able to recover the system.
