[Bug 1429725] Re: package mariadb-server-10.0 10.0.16-2~exp1~ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
FWIW I also notice that /etc/mysql/debian.cnf contains socket = /mysqld.sock instead of socket = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock and after many hours attempting to get the package installed I seem to have it running but I cannot gain root access even though I have reset the root password a dozen times in a few different ways. /etc/mysql/mariadb.conf.d/mysqld.cnf has a user = mysql setting which I think is needed to initially install the tables because doing so manually results in some root owned files/dirs (like /var/lib/mysql/mysql) but then that mysql user setting seems to disrupt further operations unless there are specific grant entries for that user and there is no hint of any attempt to setup a mysql user in the install scripts. I'd go back to mysql 5.6 but it uses a huge amount of ram by default, over 400Mb RSS compared to about 100Mb RSS for mariadb 10 and mysql 5.5. For me the only immediate solutions is to drop back to utopic and hope the mariadb 10 packages get fixed asap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1429725 Title: package mariadb-server-10.0 10.0.16-2~exp1~ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mariadb-10.0/+bug/1429725/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1348890] Re: Asus UX32LN: Brightness keys Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 don't generate evdev event
I can also confirm the bug on Ubuntu 14.10 on ASUS UX303LAB. $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version UX303LAB.205 $ uname -a Linux UX303 3.16.0-33-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 12 12:19:35 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux A possible workaround: I have screen brightness control through the system settings, but not through the Fn+F-keys. This works if acpi_osi=intel is in the boot parameters, or there is no acpi_osi mentioned. For example, only quiet splash. If you install xbacklight from the Ubuntu repositories, the commands $ xbacklight -dec 12.5 $ xbacklight -inc 12.5 decrease and increase (respectively) the screen brightness by 12.5% (I picked 1/8th total, but another choice will do). So, in keyboard settings I mapped these commands to Alt+F5 and Alt+F6, which seems ok so far. [Bug 1413540] Re: Trusty soft lockup issues with nested KVM
Hi, Just wanted to chime in that this bug also affected me - running OpenStack Juno w/KVM inside a KVM hypervisor. [Bug 1437216] [NEW] ubuntu-bug does nothing when called without arguments
Public bug reported: As I understand from [the documentation](https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Filing_a_general_bug_against_no_particular_package), if the bug is not specific to a package, one should just call `ubuntu- bug` with no arguments. indy2718, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, Hardy Desktop is EOL, and your crash report is missing. If this is reproducible in a supported release, please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 1437257] Re: Please update xcb-util-cursor to 0.1.2
KWin upstream mgraesslin says.. In addition we found and fixed [2] an issue in the xcb/util-cursor library which could result in no cursor [3] if the used theme does not contain the elements KDE/Qt expects (this mostly affects default cursor themes changed by distros). I recommend to pull the patch [2] or update to the new release [4] for KWin 5.3. As the release is brand new I will wait till 5.4 to make it the minimum required version to give you guys enough time to package. [Bug 1437135] Re: Push-client should be disabled when in flight-mode (no network connection)
Disabling push client at the moment would also disable the postal service, which we wouldn't want to do i don't think. At some point those two can (and possibly should) be split, but not for now. In view of that, we could either expose an interface to tell us whether to wake up the phone (to be called when entering and leaving flight mode), or monitor flight mode status from push itself. The latter shouldn't be hard, as long as it's exposed either as a property of network manager, or by the AccountsService dbus thing (we're currently tracking properties from both of those, so adding another property would be fairly straightforward). ** Changed in: ubuntu-push (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1437135 Title: Push-client should be disabled when in flight-mode (no network connection) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-push/+bug/1437135/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1421009] Re: unity8 sometimes hangs on boot
Looking in more detail, it seems the new Mir may have helped mako in the address-book-app hang case, even though for example UITK and webbrowser-app still have more failures. The address-book-app that failed reliably several times earlier, now in the comment #33 linked results failed only 1 test on both runs, similar to what happens on archive. Rerunning now on image #151 + silo 018, UITK still seems problematic which is not a surprise since it should be similar to yesterday's combination of #150 + silo 018 + silo 013 + rsalveti PPA. This time executing tests seemed to have hanged at one point, and touching the screen interestingly resulted in Unity 8 crashing: http://people.canonical.com/~tjyrinki/qt5/fail/mako151_plus_018/_usr_bin_unity8.32011.crash -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421009 Title: unity8 sometimes hangs on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopilot/+bug/1421009/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
