2015-04-05 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sander Jonkers, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the
sticker of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description)?

As well, could you please run a memory test as outlined in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSystemCrash and advise to the results?

Yep, after running the command I still have the same error (probably due
to the errors showing up in the Terminal). Also I can't switch to a
logon teminal when I get to the black screen and have to use the power
button on the computer to shut down from it.

[Bug 1440548] [NEW] session-migration scripts should run with Python3

2015-04-05 Thread Matthias Klose
Public bug reported:

There is still the goal to remove Python2 from the desktop images, and
to use Python3 only. compiz-gnome depends on python, afaics the only
reason are the session-migration scripts. The scripts look ready to run
with Python3. Please change the shebang line and use python3.

There is also missing a dependency on python-gi (and after the switch)
python3-gi.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2015-04-05 Thread ralphl
Good news!! I just updated my ubuntu 14.04 system to the latest update
(as of 4/3/2015) and I was able to download a 4GB video file directly
from my Canon sx280hs camera. I hadn't been able to do that until I
installed the latest update. I also updated my ubuntu 12.04 system on
the same date but the problem was not fixed there.

[Bug 1440298] Re: Excessive NAK Bailouts flooding logs

2015-04-05 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
lektronx, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.12). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1440392] Re: kernel 3.19.0-12 brakes HDMI Audio

2015-04-05 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
maxadamo, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very
top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for
testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

- it's not yet clear to me what is wrong. But I know that if I fail back

-
- The output produced by ubuntu-bug is attached. Please let me know if you
- think of any relevant command that might help to troubleshoot the issue.
-
- PLEASE: consider *NOT* using this kernel if there is such bug
- (regression??), that would affect many and many users.
-
- p.s.: I use HDMI audio pass-trough with Kodi, and it works fine with
- every other kernel that I used so far.
+ With kernel 3.19.0-12 HDMI audio breaks. If I use the previous kernel

The first patch above does nothing to the bring the connection back up

condition of some sort between the supplicant and NM but I'm not able to

dmesg with the latest Xorg packages and with systemd

Hi All,

Xorg 1.17 doesn't start on PowerPC computers (Power Macs, NG Amigas
etc). I figured out that I have a lot of signal 11 error messages with
systemd. With Upstart I have only 4 signal 11 errors:

[ 9.371697] lightdm-gtk-gre[2731]: unhandled signal 11 at  nip 6f4e61c4
lr 6f4e619c code 30001

[ 26.831432] lightdm-gtk-gre[3533]: unhandled signal 11 at  nip
6f4e61c4 lr 6f4e619c code 30001.

With systemd, X11 starts again and again with a white screen. With
Upstart I have a black screen with a blink cursor.

The temporary solution is to downgrade Xorg:

sudo dpkg -i xserver-xorg-core_1.16.0-1ubuntu1.3_powerpc.deb
sudo dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video-radeon_7.4.0-2ubuntu2_powerpc.deb
sudo dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video-ati_7.4.0-2ubuntu2_powerpc.deb

I created a package with all debs and Mesa libs for the downgrade three
weeks ago.

[Bug 1440586] Crash report cannot be processed

2015-04-05 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

no debug symbol package found for libflac8

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1439786] Re: 10de:0cbc [HP EliteBook 8540w] Max resolution of 1024x768 with nouveau

2015-04-05 Thread Tom Winterhalder
Finally the problem was coming from passing nomodeset to the kernel
command line.

Now I have full screen resolution but there is still an issue refreshing
the screen sometimes.

When switching between windows, scrolling, moving the mouse and just
writing some text the screen gets scrumbled. None of the ccsm
workarounds seem to help though.

+ With Vivid, while VNC'ed to either tighvncserver or vnc4server in non-
+ shared desktop mode, it acts as if the Super key is also pressed along

- This does not happen with x11vnc so this would appear to be a bug in
- vnc4server itself.

[Bug 1409879] Re: sponc can't be started: dependency libavg dropped gameapp

2015-04-05 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
** Description changed:

+ When libavg 1.8 was released, a file named gameapp.py was removed from
+ it. Several packages which depend upon libavg ceased to work because
+ they attempted to import and use this file.
+
+ Thanks to OXullo Intersecans, they have now been fixed upstream to work
+ with post-1.8 libavg. These packages should be updated to the latest
+ upstream version in order to start working properly again.
+
+ In the meantime, they print an error message when attempting to run one
+ of them, see for instance sponc below:
+
+ --- Original description
+
  apt-get install sponc

- with it. Hence, this appears to be a gnome-* issue.
+ When VNC'ing into gnome-session-flashback (Metacity) with either
+ tightvncserver or vnc4server configured for non-shared desktop mode,
+ when one opens a terminal for example, and types the s key, it acts as
+ if the Super key is also pressed along with it. Hence, this appears to
+ be a gnome-* issue.

  Vivid new install setup for vnc4server:
  sudo apt-get update  sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade  sudo apt-get -y
install xrdp gnome-session-flashback sudo apt-get -y remove vino nano
.xsession
  #START
  export XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP='GNOME-Flashback:Unity'
  exec gnome-session --session=gnome-flashback-metacity
--disable-acceleration-check
  #END

  sudo nano /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini

  change to:
  #START
  [globals]
  bitmap_cache=yes
  bitmap_compression=yes
  port=3389
  crypt_level=high
  channel_code=1
  max_bpp=24
  #black=00
  #grey=d6d3ce
  #dark_grey=808080
  #blue=08246b
  #dark_blue=08246b
  #white=ff
  #red=ff
  #green=00ff00
  #background=626c72

  [xrdp1]
  name=sesman-Xvnc
  lib=libvnc.so
  username=ask
  password=ask
  ip=127.0.0.1
  port=-1
  #END

  Log out, log back in, and RDP in via either Windows Remote Desktop
  Connection or Remmina.

  WORKAROUND: Don't use the .xsession file with vnc4server, but this then
  creates a shared desktop experience, instead of ones own, not seen by
  the user at the local console.

** Description changed:

  After a fresh installation of Vivid I only have a resolution of

[Bug 1336213] Re: crawl-tiles fails to start

2015-04-05 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Hi scott. That workaround would probably work too. Though it adds files
to the system which the package manager doesn't know about, which I
guess might cause problems when trying to install or upgrade packages
which want to create or replace files in the same directory.

Also, as mentioned above, installing ttf-dejavu-core should add all the
necessary fonts, or am I missing something here? :)

For me too, the hot plug workaround doesn't and I can't use the card
(uPD720202) in Ubuntu 14.10 like that
