[Bug 1453460] [NEW] clicking a log entry makes the ui transparent

2015-05-09 Thread Phillip Susi
Public bug reported:

Initially program displays a list of log entries on the right with a nav
pane on the left. Clicking one log entry to try and get details makes
the right pane go transparent. UI is completely broken.

[Bug 1431581] Re: NIS does not start on 15.04

2015-05-09 Thread Sean Clarke
Update : Just went onto a client NIS server that was running 14.10 and
checked the /etc/default/nis file and it was set to master, upgraded to
15.04 and it was changed to NISSERVER=false and all clients couldn't
bind.

Changed manually back to NISSERVER=master and all is OK.

Looks like the upgrade doesn't observe the original settings

[Bug 1434986] Re: Not working network connection after boot

2015-05-09 Thread carlix
I`ve noticed that the network-manager was updated but I finally realised that
SYSTEMD was the real problem because when I tested 15.04 alpha I hadn`t any
problems but when I received a update the network problem began.
I supose that SYSTEMD was updated and the problem started.

[Bug 1453429] Re: Add a new variant to symbols/lk

2015-05-09 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1453429/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1448656] Re: systemd doesn't allow proper shutdown after it encountered errornous .service

2015-05-09 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
The failure can be triggered by adding a comment at the end of a line
(which seems to produce an invalid `systemd` unit) depending on the
binary passed to `ExecStart`. For example `tracd` of the `trac` isssue
tracker never returns if a comment is added at the end of the
`ExecStart` line, but it's hard to make `systemd` responsible for that.

Maybe it could warn when a comment symbol is detected that isn't placed
at the beginning of the line or preceeded by whitespace only?

[Bug 1027257] Re: Wrong configuration values

2015-05-09 Thread Dave Kokandy
** Description changed:

I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 dev with pcmanfm 1.0~rc1-0ubuntu1. The default
configuration file ~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/pcmanfm.conf contains 2 bad
values. In [config] su_cmd=gksu '%s' will cause problems if a directory
which contains spaces is opened as root (it don't open then). The
solution is to remove the single quotes. In [desktop] sort_type=0 is an
invalid value. With PCManFM 1.0 an invalid value there will be
automatically set to 2 (ordered by name) so this value could be set to 2
  instead of 0.
+
+ To recreate: from a vanilla Ubuntu installation, install lxde.
+ (Does not affect the Lubuntu distribution.)
+
+ Inappropriate configurations will be present in
+ ~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/pcmanfm.conf - as described above.
+
+ Actual impact on users appears to be none, since one misconfiguration
+ will be ignored by pcmanfm, and the second is related to a function that
+ has been removed from pcmanfm.

help the trackpad though? The trackpad works in windows.

Anywho, as for 'what happened' - I really can't say - as much as I'd

things in order to get chrome to like my touchscreen, including

[Bug 1447282] Re: Does not use encrypted swap when using GPT partitioning + encrypted home directory (ecryptfs)

2015-05-09 Thread JunYang Pink
Thanks for the help Jason but that didn't work either.

Upon reboot it still gave the 'please enter passphrase for disk ubuntu
--vg-swap_1(cryptswap1) on none!' message.

Since this was a fresh install I don't have much on my computer yet so I
wont mind redoing it. I want to try again using MBR instead of GPT.
However, just wondering what your thoughts are on MBR vs GPT as far as
security? From what I've read the main difference is that GPT is much
newer. Anything else I should be concerned about before the switch?

Thanks again for the help, I truly appreciate it.

2015-05-09 Thread Alan Pater
The way to do this is discussed on the exiv2 forum:
http://dev.exiv2.org/boards/3/topics/901
You combine the separate options

For example: ~/image.tests$ exiv2 -qpa blank.jpg

Results in no output, but:

~/image.tests$ exiv2 -q pa blank.jpg
pa: Failed to open the file
blank.jpgFile name : blank.jpg
blank.jpgFile size : 4691 Bytes
blank.jpgMIME type : image/jpeg

2015-05-09 Thread Luke Caputo
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
* Are any other applications that demonstrate the same transparency?
* Do you have another Ubuntu installation to recreate the bug on your end?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. I have attempted to
reproduce bug on two separate Ubuntu 15.04 installations on my end and
the user interface doesn't appear broken, transparent, or out of the
ordinary.

[Bug 1451109] Re: Probe is error

2015-05-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Hung Tran, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229487swLangOid=8swEnvOid=4158
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(F.60). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

2015-05-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Michael Müller, thank you for taking the time to report this issue and
helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given
us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it. We
understand the difficulties you are facing, but it is better to raise
problems you are having in the support tracker at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are
bugs. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of
your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at

2015-05-09 Thread Merlijn Sebrechts
Twitter update:
1. Open Updates. (automatically download is set to always)
2. Click on update on twitter scope

Expected behaviour:
Update doesn't have to be downloaded anymore and installs immediately.

Behavior I get:
Update starts downloading. I can pauze and continue the download.

[Bug 1453452] [NEW] Cannot unlock lockscreen

2015-05-09 Thread Merlijn Sebrechts
Public bug reported:

This is something I am experiencing more and more. I am unable to unlock
the screen.

What doesn't work:
- Swiping left or right does nothing. Normally the lockscreen would go away and
I would see the app I was on previously.
- Swiping from the right edge to the left does nothing either.

What does work
- Opening the top menu or the left menu works, however.
- Swiping from the left edge to the right works. This brings me back to the
scopes screen.

After restart, everything is back to normal.

[Bug 1453404] Re: r8169 occasionally doesn't work after suspend

2015-05-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Boris Gjenero, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu

[Bug 1027257] Re: Wrong configuration values

2015-05-09 Thread Dave Kokandy
Okay, if I take an Ubuntu installation and apt-get install lxde (NOT
lubuntu-desktop), I can find these values in the file you mention.

Since I had to install lxde to find the file you mentioned, I wonder if
pcmanfm is the right package for this bug.

But is there any malfunction caused by this bug? My desktop seems
perfectly functional.

And since PCManFM no longer offers the option to open as root, the
potential malfunction you mention with the su_cmd=gksu '%s' is most
likely moot.

Since this bug appears to have no effect and the configuration - Ubuntu
+ LXDE, but not Lubuntu - is uncommon, it is my recommendation that this
be given a low priority.

[Bug 658865] Re: Install from USB fails: An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed

2015-05-09 Thread Lieven
I created a custom live cd, and had this problem too.
It was solved by removing the file /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup,
then recreating it again by hand and giving it the right permissions
(see below)

1. sudo rm /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup
2. sudo nano /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup
3. enter the following in the file: #do nothing
4. save the file.
5. sudo chmod 755 /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup

[Bug 1448102] Re: Kubuntu 15.04: plasmashell crashes

2015-05-09 Thread RichardNeill
I also can't get this to work - KDE in Ubuntu 15.04 is completely unusable.
I tried creating a new user, and that doesn't help.
However, I have no problem with XFCE or MATE (or the previous KDE in 14.10).
There doesn't appear to be anything useful in the logs either.

[Bug 1451922] Re: mouse and wifi does not work

2015-05-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
damiano cupani, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.17).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1440210]

2015-05-09 Thread Turbo477
Thank you for the tip. One thing I try to do (and failed) is open the
System Monitor and watch the process behaviour. Sadly, I cant find an
effective way to separate CPU threads in order to see exactly what
program is doing the spike.

The problem is that a I see a very low consumption in Process Table and
all the cores at 100% on System Load. I have been snooping every option
in System Monitor to no avail. Is there another way/program/command that
I can use to see this more clearly ?

Thank you again.

[Bug 1099863] Re: pcmanfm closes when removing bookmarks

2015-05-09 Thread Dave Kokandy
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. If you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 1099863 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 1453467] [NEW] Upper right corner of maximized windows do not accept clicks

2015-05-09 Thread Brad Greco
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu MATE 15.04
compiz 0.9.12.1+15.04+20150410.1-0ubuntu1

When a window is maximized, clicking in the very upper right corner should
register as a click on the title bar (and, depending on the theme, the close
button), allowing you to whip your mouse to the corner without needing to aim
for the close button. Instead, the click gets sent to either:
 - the window that is maximized on the next workspace to the right, or
 - the Desktop, if there is no maximized window on the next workspace.

Steps to reproduce:
1. If you have a panel at the top of the screen, remove it.
2. Minimize or close all windows.
2. Open a terminal and maximize it.
3. Run xwininfo.
4. Click the very top right corner of the screen.

Expected result: xwininfo returns information about the maximized
terminal window

Actual result: xwininfo returns information about the Desktop window.

If there's any more info I can provide, please let me know. It's quite
annoying to need to aim for the tiny close button instead of the
infinitely large corner of the screen, especially with a touchpad.

The Window Decorator plugin is enabled, using /usr/bin/gtk-window-
decorator. I tried switching to Emerald and got the same results.

[Bug 1451258] Re: the kde window manager close everytime I switch windows.

2015-05-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Oswaldo Junior, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have
apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the
automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your
/var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash
report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a
new report, you would be affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to
WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently.

Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and
reopen it.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Ahmad,

Erik no longer maintains GNS3. I am the current maintainer for Debian
(and the PPA).

I am in the process of getting GNS3 updated to the newer V1 release, but
it is no small task!

I shall try and find some time on my next day off to get some more work
done and see if I can't finally get it pushed out.

Regards

Daniel

 Hello Daniel,

I tried to email Erik, requesting an upgrade of the GNS3 package,
however that email bounced back. Could you please have a look at it

Hi, I use gns3_0.8.7-1~ppa1_all.deb in Ubuntu, and you are listed as
the Debian Maintainer. The version of GNS3 in Debian seems couple
of years old - it matches the version at
 http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/files/latest/download.
Upstream has released many new versions with great features and
stability and the latest one is at
 https://github.com/GNS3/gns3-gui/releases/download/v1.3.2/GNS3-1.3.2.source.zip.

How can I help you update GNS3 in Debian/Ubuntu ?

 Thanks and Regards,

[Bug 1453479] [NEW] Unable to mount Android Phone since upgrade from 14.10 to 15.04

2015-05-09 Thread Jon Carmicheal
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 14.10 on my Dell Inspiron 14R I was able to mount my HTC One
M7 (Android 5.0.2) out-of-the-box. I could browse the phone's content
via Nautilus as if it were a flash drive. Now, since upgrading to
Ubuntu 15.04, I am not able to mount the phone. When I plug it in via
USB, I receive a pop-up window saying Unable to mount Android Phone
(see attached screenshot). Nautilus will open and will display Android
Phone in the navigation panel, but it does not display any content on
the phone.

I also tried creating a live DVD of 15.04 and launched Ubuntu that way.
I was still unable to mount my Android phone. Nothing on the phone
changed since I was able to mount it on 14.10, and USB Debugging is
enabled.

Please let me know if there are any logs or other information that will
be useful in investigating this.

I am submitting this as a bug because it was working in 14.10 but is no
longer working in 15.04.
