[Bug 1461569] [NEW] typing speed influences characte displayed
Public bug reported: I type quite fast, with lots of non-latin unicode characters. I set up .XCompose to map alt g a to the Greek letter α, alt g b to the Greek letter β, etc. Typing the first at any speed renders letter α. But one has to noticably slow down to make sure that alt g b indeed gives β, and not (now typed at full speed) b. This is not a question of proximity between keyboard keys since g f, g h, g v, etc are as close together as g b and produce at any speed: φηϖντψ etc. I have not checked if the bug exists for non-Greek characters. [Regression Potential] * This is a backport of the upstream fix 89563efc0209b. So there is possibility that I screwed up the backport. However, I think I understand the error cleanup code in this area of libvirt, and have modeled the backport after that cleanup code. * This patch has been tested, and does not appear to adversely affect libvirt functionality other than decreasing the number of warning messages. [Other Info] * This patch does not solve all the warning errors, but it does clean up a significant number of them *(about half given the above test case). This level of libvirt is pretty terrible with spamming it's logs. This level of libvirt also does not have a good interface that does all the reading and writing of the socket, so each function handles the reads and writes directly which results in lots of different error paths. * Upstream commit is available here. http://libvirt.org/git/?p=libvirt.git;a=commit;h=89563efc0209b854d2b2e554423423d7602acdbd + * Trusty and newer already have this fix and many more. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1451598 Title: Libvirt spams libvirt.log with virNetSocketReadWire and similar errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1451598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1461551] [NEW] System gradual overload with GoogleTalk + Plasmashell +Firefox
Public bug reported: Using a Google Hangout, from Firefox, or Chromium. FF Uses GoogleTalk Plugin, Chromium uses its own embedded version. After about 4 or 5 minutes during which time the system load slowly creeps up, the Video becomes Choppy, and the Audio broken. Switching off the Camera, helps eleviate the problem, but only in the sense that it slows the creeping system load progression down. Eventually the audio becomes unusable, and I have to drop the Hangout. Hopefully he system report from apport-bug will shows that I am using the Intel Grphics drivers, and these did have some issues with on the early plasma 5 tech preview version. [Bug 1450894] Re: [Indicators] Messaging indicator does not indicate that there is a new message
--- UX comment --- The use of blue to indicate 'unread' and 'missed' communications was not understood, 7/11 participants failed to interpret the meaning of blue. This is because of the following mental models: - Blue does not signify that attention is required - The presence of a communication indicator already suggests 'unread' and 'missed' User quotes: I don't know why it needs to be blue, I don't need it to be there if there aren't any unread messages. It normally will only show when there is an outstanding message. (Michael) The fact that it is present indicates there is something there for me to do. (Hansie) When there are no outstanding messages/missed calls, the participants did not expect the indicators to be shown. Therefore, the blue colour serves little meaning to them. Based on these findings, we've decided to only show the Notification indicator icon (white) if its current status is on/running or required the user's attention. (With the exception of informational indicators which are always present). Source: Notification indicator icon findings from Usability testing sessions - March and Sep 2014 (https://goo.gl/tncf2K) (https://goo.gl/EAE94I) --- Also, with the new design of the Notification System, we suggest using the lock screen to provide more functionality beyond unlocking the phone: such as notifications for emails and text messages, a date and time display, or even shortcuts to certain applications, for example, the camera or the media player control. This appearance of notifications on the lock screen addresses user's prioritisation of different communication content based on their context, for example, from earlier research, we found that participants gave different levels of attention according to the communication medium: a missed call is more likely to require an immediate action; text messages are checked on a frequent basis; personal emails are relatively less urgent, and tend to be checked at the user's convenience. Therefore, the 'envelope' icon in the status bar takes a 'secondary role' when notifying the user. Desired behaviour of 'Envelope' icon: User can swipe either way to unlock the screen, if she does, all notifications will disappear and be recorded in the Notification centre and the 'envelope' icon should be present on the Status bar. If user sees (opens) the Notification centre or acts on a notification when it arrives, then the 'envelope' icon should disappear from the status bar. [Bug 1392699] Re: Can't change locale settings (e.g. language, 12/24-hour time, date format) independently
By reading ubuntu-system-settings/trunk/plugins/language/language- plugin.cpp source code, it appears that this rather common problem (preferred en_US locale and 24-hour military clock) happens because selected language (translated to locale) is assigned *both* to the Language and FormatsLocale of the org.freedesktop.Accounts.User properties. It can be fixed (until you change it with ubuntu-system-settings again) by changing FormatsLocale after you've set your desired language, and restarting device: $ dbus-send --print-reply --system --dest=org.freedesktop.Accounts /org/freedesktop/Accounts/User$UID org.freedesktop.Accounts.User.SetFormatsLocale string:'ru_RU.UTF-8' -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392699 Title: Can't change locale settings (e.g. language, 12/24-hour time, date format) independently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libc/+bug/1392699/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1161594] Re: Gdevilspie fails to start with no attribute 'xdg_config_home'
( 1 ) Open a terminal with ctrl + alt + t ( 2 ) Type sudo gedit /usr/bin/gdevilspie and press enter ( 3 ) Enter your password and press enter ( 4 ) If you do not see line numbers, click the edit menu in gedit, then click preferences ( look for the check box show line numbers and check it ( 5 ) Scroll down to line 374 and put a # symbol to the far left of the line ( prefix the line with # ) ( 6 ) Press ctrl + s to save the changes and then exit out of gedit ( maybe give it a few seconds to finish saving before exiting though ) ( 7 ) You are done with the fix, you can now launch gdevilspie and it ( should ) work. you want run autostart you write only 'devilspie -a' on command line ;) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1161594 Title: Gdevilspie fails to start with no attribute 'xdg_config_home' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdevilspie/+bug/1161594/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm setting this to High for now... [Bug 1371634] Re: block devices appear twice
Actually, on advice of Andy C, lets go ahead and consider this critical... this cert needs to be completed as soon as possible and we can't do that without multipathing working properly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1371634 Title: block devices appear twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curtin/+bug/1371634/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
