[Bug 1426893] Re: qemu-kvm virtual machines crash with some but not all ubuntu flavors when vmvga video is selected

2015-06-17 Thread Stefan Bader
Initially it sounded a bit like some part of the graphics causes issues.
But then this would hang or drop to a textual mode and not shut off the
VM. If this is still happening, is the shut down immediate (like ripping
out power) or slightly delayed (doing a shutdown sequence like if the
power button was pressed on a real system)?

There might be further info on the host in /var/log/syslog,
/var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log, and in a qemu log named after the VM name
under /var/log/libvirt/qemu/. If you can still reproduce, the shutdown
still, please attach the above logs here. Thanks.

[Bug 1342675] Re: Random characters in screen text suddenly disappear

2015-06-17 Thread Rod Hubbard
I have this problem on Ubuntu 15.04. I had it on previous versions of
Ubuntu as well. I did a clean install of 15.04 so the bug is still
present in 15.04 (not a remnant of the earlier versions). See attached
screenshot. I've seen the missing characters occur in Nautilus and in
the gray bar at the top of windows in Ubuntu (e.g., Firefox, gedit,
Libreoffice, file download window). On the bright side, it seems to
occur less frequently and less severely on 15.04 than in previous
versions.

[Bug 1374301] Re: osd notifications blurry

2015-06-17 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I see this too on a HiDPI display. I was able to workaround it by using
Steffen's suggestion:
$ sudo cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/notify-osd
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/notify-osd.real

Then creating /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/notify-osd with:
#!/bin/sh
set -e
export GDK_SCALE=1.0
exec /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/notify-osd.real

Then:
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/notify-osd

Test with:
$ sudo killall notify-osd
$ notify-send test

Note: once you are using the above wrapper you will use 'sudo killall
notify-osd.real' instead.

[Bug 706011] Re: gpg --key-gen doesn't have enough entropy and rng-tools install/start fails

2015-06-17 Thread Jon Stevens
@bobafett

The signatures are a nice feature for ensuring that the package is
valid. It doesn't have to be totally 'secure' as it is a private
internal network.

If you go back and read ALL of the comments, I think you'll note that
I'm not requesting that things are made less secure, but that things are
secured correctly.

If anything, this issue should be closed because it has been open for so
many years and clearly pisses people off enough to create a fake account
and make wild comments.

[Bug 1429327] Re: Boot from an unique, stable, multipath-dependent symlink

I'm working on curtin support for multipath, and after a very long set
of things, I believe I'm down to this bug, and are seeing it
reproducibly using trusty+hwe-v on ppc64el (note, I've never seen it in

I believe that your re-setting of ROOT= guarantees failure of boot if
you install multipath-tools-boot on a system that does not have

[Bug 1449737] Re: gallery and camera icons turn black after the r21 update

2015-06-17 Thread Darko Veberic
there was a camera update and the icon came back from its transparent
death. unfortunately gallery's icon is still empty and fully
transparent...

is there a way i can rebuild/refresh icons? i guess its the cached
bitmap that's broken, original svg might be ok.

please help.

[Bug 1466150] Re: Feature request: For EFI system grub-install should be able to install to multiple disks

2015-06-17 Thread Phillip Susi
Choice of filesystem has nothing to do with raid. You can put any FAT32
partition, including the ESP, on a raid1 if you want. You just need to
make sure to use md format 0.9 or 1.0 instead of 1.1 or 1.2 so the
firmware will still recognize it.

** Description changed:

My Wifi seems to be hard blocked when powering my notebook and could not
be unblocked via keyboard switch (Fn + print_screen) nor any other

  unblocked.

Laptop model is Dell XPS 15 (9530) with Intel 7260 AC Wifi card.

I'm using Ubuntu 15.04, same problem with 14.04 LTS and 14.10. BIOS
installed: A08 (also had this problem with A06 and A07). Wifi is working
  in Windows 8.1 without problems.

Output of cat /sys/kernel/debug/dell_laptop before suspending:

[Bug 835532] Re: lightdm does not keep numlock status on boot

Please see this Ubuntu documentation page:

The method suggested there works fine for me both on an updated vivid
(with latest lightdm) and an updated wily.

+ The kworker is looping forever and failing to clean up conntrack state.
+ All the while, it holds the global netns lock. Given that I've bisected
+ to commit e53376bef2cd97d3e3f61fdc677fb8da7d03d0da which is to do with
refcounting, I suspect that borked refcounting on conntrack entries makes them
impossible to properly free/destroy, which prevents this worker from cleaning
up the namespace, which then goes on to prevent anything else from interacting
with namespaces (add/delete/etc).

  [Test Case]
bug 1403152 has a testcase which can occasionally hit this issue

[Bug 1464669] Re: New upstream microreleases 9.1.18, 9.3.9, 9.4.4

2015-06-17 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Martin, or anyone else affected,

Accepted postgresql-9.1 into trusty-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-9.1/9.1.18-0ubuntu0.14.04
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Groovy = 2.0 is packaged as src:groovy2 - this package will never be =

Looks like we need an epoch (perhaps even in Debian) to unbreak this.

You had a problem with your network during the installation so the
package could not be downloaded. Try again and see if your network is
working properly now. If not, disconnect from the network entirely
during the installation so it won't try to download anything.

[Bug 1423631] Re: tap interface drops many packets on highload systems

2015-06-17 Thread Chris J Arges
Can you explain more about your setup?
Which version of openstack are you running?
How have you setup your instance?
Which operating system / kernel version are you running in your instance?
How are you generating outbound traffic from the instance?
Is the outbound traffic going through other equipment which may be dropping
those packets?

In my Trusty/Icehouse deploy, I've deployed instanced and observed the
tapX interfaces on the compute node and noticed no large amount of
dropped TX packets.

[Bug 1465685] Re: OTA4 SMS function now fails

2015-06-17 Thread LionelB
Under 'Carrier' in Settings I have an option for 'Automatically' - which
was ticked and defaulted to Phone Co-op.

I also have two manual settings available, both of them named Phone Co-
op.

I am guessing one is the default picked up from the SIM card and the
other is from the [recently updated] provider database.

A conflict between the two entries could cause an intermittent fault ?
Automatic allocation could result in a 50% failure rate, logically.
Though presumably only if one set of parameters is incorrect in some
particular ?

I have chosen one of the manual sets available. Hope I chose the right
one :-)

Joe,
I've created bug 1466135 to handle updating our 3.13 to fix your issue. Please
add any information to that bug that would be useful in verifying the fix once
it goes through our stable updates process. Thanks!

[Bug 1421889] Re: Ubuntu Touch 15.05 (r1) - Google Contacts not synchronizing

2015-06-17 Thread Sujeevan Vijayakumaran
I've got my Meizu MX4 today and had a different behaviour. Step 8 on my
phone was, that it said that it's sychronising, but it didn't finish
after a couple of minutes. After I've closed the contacts app and
started it again, the Google contacts appeared.

Device: Meizu MX4
OS: Ubuntu 15.04 (r1)
