[Bug 1476907] Re: Abrowser 39 crashes (segmentation fault).
** Description changed: This is the same bug that has appeared on the Trisquel GNU/Linux forums: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/abrowser-behaves-strangely-after-system-update - I've tested Abrowser on three machine. On one of them (running Ubuntu - 14.04 x64) , everything is fine. On the other two (both running 14.04 - x32), there is an almost instant segmentation fault. Interestingly, the - segmentation fault is NOT instant if I load a non-default profile using - something like: + I've installed (from the legimet/abrowser-kde ppa) and tested Abrowser + on three machines. So, perhaps visiting + pages that execute certain HTML elements, javascript, etc. is what is + setting this bug off. PS: for whatever it may be worth, after finding, downloading, and installing a .deb package from the FSF mirror of the Trisquel repos, I can confirm that this bug doesn't affect version 38, just 39. Also: to my knowledge, the bug doesn't affect Firefox (although I've removed Firefox from my system in favor of abrowser, so I can't say for - sure). [Bug 1318351] Re: mdadm doesn't assemble imsm raids during normal boot
Hello, This bug persists in fresh Ubuntu 14.04.2 Server (I confirm #3). I have a FakeRAID controller in one of our supermicro servers. Installation occurs normally, but when first booted, it doesn't boot correctly. I see that nomdmonddf nomdmonisw is appended to the boot parameters. For first boot, I needed to remove those lines via grub before booting, boot the box, and comment out the file: /etc/default/grub.d/dmraid2mdadm.cfg When those parameters are not included, it runs perfectly. I didn't need to change any mdadm.conf or other. Also I just spent about two hours testing whether colour fonts work on ubuntu seems they're not. There is a lot of discussion related to what will be done for X-series, but the plan of action for X-series requires a merge of 1.9.3 from Debian into Ubuntu for Wily, with future merges likely. ** Affects: nginx (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Thomas Ward (teward) Status: In Progress ** Description changed: Debian Unstable has nginx 1.9.3-1, which is the latest upstream Mainline release. [Bug 1476781] Re: [mako] cannot send sms unless a network connection is active
Problem here is that the telepathy-ofono mission control plugins runs a getprop rild.libpath in order to detect if there is at least one modem present in the device. getprop tries to query dev/socket/property_service socket and if that fails, it fallsback to read /system/build.prop. We decided to just allow the plugin to read build.prop. It works fine on arale and krillin, but on mako it seems the variable is not present in the file. If you run getprop manually it will have permissions to read the socket, and the right value is returned. This makes the telepathy-ofono mission control plugin fail to create the accounts and set the property that tells mission control to never disable the account when there is no network. We have two options here: Either add rild.libpath to build.prop, or allow getprop to access dev/socket/property_service when launched via mission-control process. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476781 Title: [mako] cannot send sms unless a network connection is active To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy-mission-control-5/+bug/1476781/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1476781] Re: [mako] cannot send sms unless a network connection is active
Currently neither the /usr/lib/telepathy/mission-control-5 nor the /usr/lib/telepathy/telepathy-ofono allow read access to /system/build.prop or dev/socket/property_service, so I'm not sure how this ever worked. Notice that 'dev/socket/property_service' is missing the leading '/' which means that to add a rule for it, we would have to do something like: --- telepathy-mission-control-5-5.16.3/debian/apparmor-profile 2015-02-02 01:43:56.0 -0600 +++ telepathy-mission-control-5-5.16.3/debian/apparmor-profile 2015-07-21 14:10:51.0 -0500 @@ -3,7 +3,7 @@ #include tunables/global -/usr/lib/telepathy/mission-control-5 { +/usr/lib/telepathy/mission-control-5 (attach_disconnected) { #include abstractions/base #include abstractions/dbus #include abstractions/dbus-session @@ -59,6 +59,10 @@ /usr/share/accounts/services/r, /usr/share/accounts/services/** r, +# Ubuntu Touch +/dev/socket/property_service rw, +@{PROC}/cmdline r, + # Site-specific additions and overrides. 'attach_disconnected' is something I'd like to avoid since it is at best a workaround for a limitation in apparmor (that we are working on but won't be fixed for a while). As such, I'd prefer that we add rild.libpath to build.prop if that doesn't have any other repercussions. If we do that, will read access need to be granted to /system/build.prop? [Bug 1476705] Re: postscript printer hideously slow in some cases (pdftops)
** Description changed: With my (old) postscript printer, print a single page can take many minutes on some situations. It happens with some PDF files (not all) and Firefox printing of Google map, for example. When this happens, I observed in system monitor that pdftops is running continuously. After some manual PDF - PS conversions, I see that pdftops inflates the file size for problematic cases, but is ok for other files (size similar to the original file, or even smaller). I don't know if modern Postscript printers can handle this quickly, but it's unacceptable here and certainly not an efficient way to print those files. So I suspect that pdftops should be fixed. For example, I join a problematic pdf produced by Google Map in Firefox. I tried many conversions. As you can see, I get a much larger file (36 times) with pdftops. It is worse with pdf2ps (and it takes longer to process), so replace pdftops by pdf2ps is not an option for me. However, pdftocairo quickly produces an efficient file. I have the same success if I open the PDF file with Evince and print it as a Postscript file. I get a similar file if I print to PS directly from Google Map (Firefox). Of course these small PS files produced by pdftocairo, Evince of Firefox print flawlessly on my printer. - Is it possible to replace pdftops with pdftocairo? I tried with a simple - script but it doesn't work (or don't know how). - See also Bug # 1095498 which I suspect is the same (old) thing, but I fill a new one since it doesn't seem to be printer specific. Of course, another workaround could be to use a PCL driver but no one is available for my printer (HP Color Laserjet 2605dn). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476705 Title: postscript printer hideously slow in some cases (pdftops) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/1476705/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1455580] Re: [Ubuntu 14.04.03] powerpc-utils package update
Diane, it's not so much a rejection as a request for clarification. The original bug report (and this is true of pretty much all the please update to latest upstream version bugs) just included the new version number and a description of the package. That doesn't satisfy any requirements on our end to determine *why* a new version is needed, all it tells us is that a new version is wanted, which isn't a reason in itself to update. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455580 Title: [Ubuntu 14.04.03] powerpc-utils package update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powerpc-ibm-utils/+bug/1455580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1476844] [NEW] loading firmware into hplj1000 twice
Public bug reported: /lib/udev/hplj1000 doesn't handle another $DEVNAME case when udev calls it twice. Udev calls the script twice for some reason on the system described below. At first, udev calls hplj1000 with /dev/bus/usb/004/059 as a $DEVNAME which is not desired/not supported. Then it calls the script once again with /dev/usb/lp0 as a $DEVNAME which is desired and must be used to load a firmware to. The problem is that the script handles only /dev/usb/usb* case but not the /dev/bus/usb/*. This leads to firmware being loaded twice which causes HP LaserJet 1000 to hang and stop processing tasks. Attached patch adds another case to the /lib/udev/hplj1000 script that silently exits if the script is called with undesired value. # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release:14.04 # apt-cache policy printer-driver-foo2zjs-common printer-driver-foo2zjs-common: Installed: 20140209dfsg0-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 20140209dfsg0-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 20140209dfsg0-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status # apt-cache policy udev udev: Installed: 204-5ubuntu20.12 Candidate: 204-5ubuntu20.12 Version table: *** 204-5ubuntu20.12 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 204-5ubuntu20 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages # ** Affects: foo2zjs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: foo2zjs hplj1000 udev ** Patch added: hplj1000.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476844/+attachment/4432206/+files/hplj1000.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476844 Title: loading firmware into hplj1000 twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/foo2zjs/+bug/1476844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1465685] Re: OTA4 SMS function now fails
@LionelB Thanks for the feedback. First, here's an example of using the send-sms script ( with dummy numbers ): /usr/share/ofono/scripts/send-sms /ril_1 617666 dummy message 0 The other thing to try is to swap your SIMs and see if that makes a difference. You currently have the 3 SIM in slot 1, which is currently enabled for 3g, whereas the Phone Co-op SIM is in the second slot, which is only capable of 2g. It could be that Phone Co-op's network doesn't support non-3g SMS messages. [Bug 1363519] Re: start-stop-daemon fails debsums check
** Description changed: + [ SRU Justification ] + Currently, systems installed from live media have several critical files (like initctl and start-stop-daemon) failing debsums checks because they are incorrectly using the files from the release pocket versions of their packages, rather than the -updates version that's actually installed. + + [ Test Case ] + Build a test CD, run through an install, and verify that, post-install, all the files referenced in the patches are the expected content. Those files are: + + /sbin/initctl (should be from the -updates version of upstart) + /sbin/start-stop-daemon (should be from the -updates version of dpkg) + /bin/hostname (should be from the release pocket version of hostname) + /usr/sbin/policy-rc.d (should not exist on the filesystem, post-install) + + [ Regression Potential ] + Assuming the above test case passes, pretty minimal. The change isn't invasive, except for swapping silly mv do_stuff mv semantics with more correct dpkg-divert add/remove. + + [ Original Report ] After fresh install from 14.04.1-amd64-dvd - debsums -c results in: /sbin/start-stop-daemon. I checked dpkg package with dpkg -s dpkg and got: Status: install ok installed, Version: 1.17.5ubuntu5.3 (the latest version) but when I did md5sum /sbin/start-stop-daemon, I got b1b8894ae2e3b547dca0e288634cce4a, which is md5sum for start-stop-daemon from dpkg version 1.17.5ubuntu5! This looks scary, but I'm no expert. This may be only a side-effect of trying to disassemble code. This is either malicious, or a totally benign mistake, but in either case, Canonical should not be distributing AMIs which cannot pass rudimentary integrity checks. To reproduce, simply start an AWS instance with one of these AMIs, install debsums, and run something like: for PKG in `dpkg --get-selections | awk '{print $1}'`; do echo ${PKG}: failsums; debsums $PKG | grep FAILED failsums; done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1150737 Title: live-build causes installation old /sbin/initctl and start-stop-daemon to be installed in Cloud Images To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/live-build/+bug/1150737/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1436203] Re: [Dash] unity8-dash crashed with ASSERT: eglDestroyContext(mEglDisplay, mEglContext) == EGL_TRUE
I'm not sure how I can give the above command. If I run it from a terminal (which is not running withing unity8, though, but from another tty), I get this: stop: Name com.ubuntu.Upstart does not exist Are there any other ways to issue that command? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1436203 Title: [Dash] unity8-dash crashed with ASSERT: eglDestroyContext(mEglDisplay, mEglContext) == EGL_TRUE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mir/+bug/1436203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1476784] Re: package thunderbird-locale-es 1:31.7.0+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: unable to securely remove '/usr/lib/thunderbird/distribution/searchplugins/locale/es-AR/drae
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! [This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: hardware-error ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1476784 Title: package thunderbird-locale-es 1:31.7.0+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: unable to securely remove '/usr/lib/thunderbird/distribution/searchplugins/locale/es-AR/drae.xml .dpkg-new': Read-only file system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1476784/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
