2015-08-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1489379/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Hi Martin, thanks for confirming. I'll try it later on myself. Did
anything actually change between Ubuntu MATE 15.04 and 15.10 in terms of
the Software Centre so that it would start working? Or just ancillary

[Bug 1489483] [NEW] Enable llvmpipe on libgl-mesa-dri

2015-08-27 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

== Comment: #0 - Gabriel Krisman Bertazi gbert...@br.ibm.com - 2015-08-12

The llvmpipe software renderer is disabled in the mesa (libgl1-mesa-dri)
package for ppc64le, even though llvmpipe is fully supported on this
architecture. We need this feature enabled in order to run Unity with video
cards lacking 3D Hardware Acceleration.

Please enable it and, if possible, backport this change to 14.04.3.

[Bug 1489487] [NEW] linux-meta: is uninstallable in trusty-proposed

2015-08-27 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Public bug reported:

Britney is reporting that linux-meta in trusty-proposed is not
installable:

linux-image-generic-lts-utopic
  linux-image-hwe-virtual-trusty/powerpc unsatisfiable Depends:
linux-image-virtual-lts-utopic

This is what is sitting in trusty-proposed produced by linux-lts-utopic:

  $ rmadison -a source -s trusty-proposed linux-lts-utopic

   linux-lts-utopic | 3.16.0-48.64~14.04.1 | trusty-proposed | source
  $ rmadison -s trusty-proposed linux-image-3.16.0-48-generic

It seems we are assuming output for powerpc which is simply not built
and split packages for arm64 and armhf which are not produced.

[Bug 1489461] [NEW] Network Manager looses connection and refuses to reconnect

2015-08-27 Thread Wolf Rogner
Public bug reported:

Repetitively with new versions this issue arises:

Network Manager looses the connection. The list of SSIDs and APs includes a
subset of APs that were there before the disconnect.
Reconnection results in a permanent connection establishing effort with no
final success.

Restarting the NetworkManager service does not bring up the missing
SSIDs and APs nor does it allow to reconnect.

Only a reboot remedies this situation.

Why is it repetitively:
I haven't found the errors I previously reported on this edition but I did.
Thus to me this seems like regression again.

Problem here is multipath is not obtaining the paths' identifiers, thus
blacklists them all.
I have a good idea of what's happening, from a bug fixed in Debian, probably
pending backports to Ubuntu.

I'll check a few things in the LPAR yet.

[Bug 1489473] [NEW] invoking fslint should give a hint to fslint-gui or fslint should be a link to it

2015-08-27 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

invoking `fslint` in `gnome-terminal` prints

changing to english doesn't work with (`LANG` and `LC_ALL` environment
variables) - I assume it's possible to understand. A hint ~Did you mean
fslint-gui of the package 'fslint' would be helpful.

Due to the fact that there's no fslint command, `fslint` could be made a

[Bug 1481129] Re: System freeze when using Libre Office

2015-08-27 Thread Witold Szczeponik
Happened to me again, this time by opening a file with Calc and with the
latest Kernel (3.19.0-27-generic #29~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Sun Aug 16
01:51:13 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). When I tried to close
the application, the system froze again and I had to hard-shutdown it.
Again, it was an angry nouveau driver.

This is becoming a real issue, as it basically renders the usage of
LibreOffice impossible. But: it seems to be a Kernel problem which needs
to be resolved by kernel package.

On Aug 27, 2015, at 01:22 PM, Muelli wrote:

I think the duplicate status is wrong.

I agree, but then it's not a bug in python-apt. It's really a bug caused by
our old version of pip, which doesn't natively understand PEP 440 'arbitrary
equality' clauses signified by the === marker. Even if you change
python-apt's version number it's still possible that some other installed
package will have a nonconforming version number.

Upgrading pip to the latest version is an arduous process because of all the
bureaucracy involved (and a bit of technical prerequisites), but in any case,
with the help of the upstream maintainer, I did backport a workaround in pip
1.5.6-7 (seen in Ubuntu as 1.5.6-7ubuntu1). You'll need wily though.

I did a sudo apt-get install -t wily python-apt to get 1.0.0~beta3.1ubuntu1
which is the version which is supposed to fix the problem. However, pip
freeze still fails.

`pip list` would also trigger the bug, but it should be fixed now, at least in
unstable and wily. I have an ongoing task to update pip to the latest
upstream release.

--- Comment From bren...@br.ibm.com 2015-08-27 13:52 EDT---
(In reply to comment #11)
The status of this request is unclear. Does IBM still care about this
functionality? Does IBM have patches against upstream that we should apply
against the Ubuntu version, or a pointer to patches that have landed in an
 upstream release?

I think this is going to be deferred to 16.04 since we are not making
much progress for 15.10 timeframe.

Haren, you may want to follow up with a new Ubuntu bug with the patches from
 comment 21.
Haren, did you opened a new feature for the inclusion of the other patches?

[Bug 1482924] Re: Regressions due to USN-2696-1

2015-08-27 Thread Tiago Stürmer Daitx
I have created OpenJDK 6 packages for Precise and Wily (should run on
Vivid as well) with TLS 1.1 enabled by default and a OpenJDK 7 package
for Wily with TLS 1.2 enabled by default as well. If you can, please
test those and let me know the results.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tdaitx/openjdk

See repo at https://launchpad.net/~tdaitx/+archive/ubuntu/openjdk

As for RC4, it has been fully disabled upstream now [1,2,3,4]. In particular:
* 8043200: Decrease the preference mode of RC4 in the enabled cipher suite list
* 8050158: Introduce system property to maintain RC4 preference order
* 8043201: Deprecate RC4 in SunJSSE provider
* 8043202: Prohibit RC4 cipher suites

In order to use RC4 it seems that you need to set the system property
jdk.tls.preserveRC4CipherSuites to true and make sure the algorithm
you want to use is listed under jdk.tls.legacyAlgorithms in the
java.security file (for Ubuntu it will be at
/etc/java-7-openjdk/security/java.security or
/etc/java-6-openjdk/security/java.security). Algorithms in
jdk.tls.legacyAlgorithms will be tried only after exhausting all other
options.

[Bug 1489489] [NEW] The org.freedesktop.DBus.GetConnectionAppArmorSecurityContext() method is deprecated

2015-08-27 Thread Tyler Hicks
Public bug reported:

When upstream D-Bus merged the AppArmor mediation patches, they did not
like the GetConnectionAppArmorSecurityContext() bus method. Instead,
they decided to expose a peer's AppArmor context using the
org.freedesktop.DBus.GetConnectionCredentials() bus method. All users of
the GetConnectionAppArmorSecurityContext() method should switch to the
GetConnectionCredentials() method as soon as possible so that Ubuntu can
drop the patch that implements GetConnectionAppArmorSecurityContext()
by the time 16.04 LTS is released.

In order to switch to the new method, you'll need to depend on
libapparmor 2.10 or newer.

I'll be adding example code that illustrates how to switch from
GetConnectionAppArmorSecurityContext() to GetConnectionCredentials().
