I'm getting this error on Mint 17.2 w/kernel 3.19.0-26 too. My bluetooth mouse seems to be fine (no battery registering), but my keyboard is showing as a 2nd laptop battery. [Bug 1488672] [NEW] Ubuntu Update Causes Kernel Panic on Dell Laptops Preconfigured with Ubuntu 14.04
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have the Dell Inspiron 3451 14" preinstalled with Ubuntu with a 64 bit Intel® Pentium® Processor N3540. An update from about a month ago causes these machines to have a kernel panic on reboot. If I do a factory reset, it works fine, but when I run updates on the "fresh install," the problems comes back, and I don't want to damage the data I have on the recovery partition in case Canonical is able to fix this to make it work again. In the meantime, I replaced the hard drive, and tried reinstalling stock Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, and the problem persisted. I can install 32 bit Ubuntu 14.04.03, and updates do not cause kernel panics now, but I do not have a functioning trackpad. I am not the only person with this issue. It is really quite a shame, because I bought this laptop because it came preconfigured with Ubuntu. Dell's inept customer service and technical support (based in India) has been of zero help, and caused lots of aggravation. Is Canonical aware of how badly Dell is messing up its roll-out of laptops running Ubuntu? I feel really bad for Linux newbies having to deal with this. Can I expect the 64 bit version of the OS to be fixed so it works with this hardware? Thanks. A similar problem can be found here: https://www.mail-archive.com /kernel-packa...@lists.launchpad.net/msg130184.html "I have discovered one cause of the kernel panic during boot that affects this laptop with linux-image-3.13.0-61-generic and linux- image-3.13.0-58-generic. Within the UEFI BIOS settings is an option called "Battery Charge Configuration." Both kernels boot without issue when "Standard" option is selected but fail to boot when "Primarily AC Use" is selected. This is also the case with linux- image-3.13.0-62-generic from the canonical-kernel-team ppa. [Bug 1493752] [NEW] Minor problems with guest-host-x11-interactions
Public bug reported: Hi, I am currently testing xubuntu 15.10 beta1 in a virtual machine under virtualbox, running on Mac OSX with Virtualbox 5.0.2. I've experienced two new problems, compared to a 14.04 LTS linux on the same host. - copy-and-paste between host and guest do not work, although enabled in the configs (works well with 14.04) - Screen resolution is given through too late. I have a Macbook Pro with Retina Display, which cause Ubuntu as a guest to select odd resolutions and have a wrong ratio. I therefore have an autostart entry under 14.04 simply running xrandr -s 1440x900, and everything was fine. However, under 15.10 this autostart entry does not work. It does not work either when I put it into ~/.xprofile. It just produces an error message that this resolution is not available. However, it works when I enter the command manually. It seems as if it receives the physical screen resolution just too late, after autostart. Thanks for the bug report. This would appear to be a problem with emacsen-common, in particular the directory /var/lib/emacsen-common/state/flavor/installed is missing. Perhaps a cosmic ray hit your disk! Or some other source of filesystem corruption. In any case, the bug does not appear to be in expand-region-el. Dear errors.ubuntu.com, This version does not exist in the distro, but it seems the bug does anyhow. I believe the problem is in this line: dp->profiles = pa_hashmap_new_full(pa_idxset_string_hash_func, pa_idxset_string_compare_func, NULL, (pa_free_cb_t) pa_droid_profile_free); This line, located at src/modules/droid/droid-util.c, should be removed. [Bug 1493667] [NEW] Missing registry endpoint for unconfined scopes
Public bug reported: The ubuntu-scope-network profile current does not list Registry-R as an accessible endpoint (only Registry-s and Registry-p). We need the Registry-R endpoint accessible to confined scopes as well, otherwise they can't query the registry for existing scopes. This endpoint was meant to be accessible all along. [Bug 1492129] Re: FFE: integrate networkd with /etc/network/if-*.d/ scripts
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 225-1ubuntu3 --- systemd (225-1ubuntu3) wily; urgency=medium * Enable libseccomp support for mips64, mips64el, and x32. (Closes: #797403) * debian/tests/networkd: Add hotplug tests. * Make networkd call if-up.d/ scripts when it brings up interfaces, to become compatible with ifupdown and NetworkManager for packages shipping hooks. (LP: #1492129) - Add debian/extra/units/networkd-if-up.d@.service: Wait for a particular interface to be up, and call if-up.d/ for it if it is managed by networkd. Correspondingly, call if-post-down.d/ scripts when stopping. - debian/extra/udev-helpers/net.agent: Start/stop networkd-if-up.d@.service when interfaces appear/go away. - debian/tests/networkd: Verify that if-up.d/ and if-post-down.d/ scripts get run for a networkd managed interface. - Note that if-pre-up.d/ and if-down.d/ scripts are *not* being called, as they are often not applicable for networkd (if-pre-up.d) and unreliable (if-down.d). * Drop udev-finish. We needed this for the autogenerated CD and network interface names, but both are gone now. * Drop debian/udev.udev-fallback-graphics.upstart. The vesafb module has been compiled into the kernel in both Debian and Ubuntu for a fair while, this never had a systemd equivalent, and Debian never shipped the accompanying rules for determining $PRIMARY_DEVICE_FOR_DISPLAY. * debian/control: Remove some boilerplate from the long descriptions, to more easily get to the point what a specific package actually does. * debian/README.Debian: As systemd is the default init now, replace the documentation how to switch to systemd with how to switch back (temporarily or permanently) to SysV init. Also move that paragraph to the bottom as it's now less important. * debian/README.Debian: Add a hint why you may want to enable persistent journal, and suggest to uninstall system-log-daemon to avoid duplicate logging. * debian/README.Debian: Add documentation about networkd integration. -- Martin PittWed, 09 Sep 2015 07:56:03 +0200 ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492129 Title: FFE: integrate networkd with /etc/network/if-*.d/ scripts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1492129/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1493709] [NEW] "Stream Setup Failed" error when connecting to speaker
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Package Version: 1.23-git201403102151-1ubuntu1 (Tried several other versions too) I've looked at a bunch of tutorials, but I just can't solve this problem. In fact, I've never seen Bluetooth audio work, for anyone I know, granted most of them are using a Raspberry Pi. Anyway, first of all let me just say that I'm defiantly somewhat of a "Linux Noob", so I honestly have no idea what's going on around here, but I heard this is the official website of this and many other Linux packages, so I'm here to report a bluetooth audio bug. Every time I try to connect my Bluetooth speaker to my Linux computer (Well, in this specific case it's a single-board ARM PC, which looks suspiciously similar to the Pi 2. Coincidence?), it connects for about a second and then drops the connection. It never shows up in PulseAudio either. Sometimes, it will stay paired with the computer and the pair light will stay solid like it's connected, but when I try to connect it to the "Audio Sink" service, blueman crashes! Okay, well not really crashes, but the window just closes for no reason, even though the tray icon is still responsive. Bottom line is, the speaker never connects to the Bluetooth audio service. I would tell you the model of the speaker, but I've actually tried a whole bunch of different speakers and headsets. (Don't ask me why I have so many Bluetooth speakers.) But they all lead to the same result of connecting for a second, until blueman gives a "Stream Setup Failed" error. Once, I actually closed blueman-applet and ran it from the terminal, to see if it was printing an error or something. Here is the relevant output from pairing to my JBL Charge: _ on_item_activated (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/plugins/applet/RecentConns.py:279) Connect 00:1D:DF:EA:EC:A4 org.bluez.AudioSink _ init_services (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:73) Loading services _ __init__ (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:16) caching initial properties _ notify (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/plugins/applet/RecentConns.py:237) org.bluez.AudioSink dbus.Array([], signature=None) _ __del__ (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:60) deleting device /org/bluez/504/hci0/dev_00_1D_DF_EA_EC_A4 _ Destroy (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:95) invalidating device /org/bluez/504/hci0/dev_00_1D_DF_EA_EC_A4 _ initialize (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/plugins/applet/RecentConns.py:136) rebuilding menu _ __init__ (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:16) caching initial properties _ __del__ (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:60) deleting device /org/bluez/504/hci0/dev_00_1D_DF_EA_EC_A4 _ Destroy (/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/blueman/main/Device.py:95) invalidating device /org/bluez/504/hci0/dev_00_1D_DF_EA_EC_A4 So, is this a bug (probably), and if so, is anyone going to fix it? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if this is actually a bug with blueman, maybe it's a bug with bluez or something, I sure wouldn't know. ** Affects: blueman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: bluez (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: bluez (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1493709 Title: "Stream Setup Failed" error when connecting to speaker To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blueman/+bug/1493709/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1488672] Re: Ubuntu Update Causes Kernel Panic on Dell Laptops Preconfigured with Ubuntu 14.04
Hi Brian, thanks for converting your question [1] into a bug, however, it's better to address one issue in a bug, which will make it easier to track and fix. So could you please change the description to what you want to report? * If it's related to the kernel panic issue, as we're unable to reproduce that problem here, it will be great if you can provide more debugging information for it. I would like to suggest you to open a new bug report with the HDD that has pre-installed Ubuntu on it. You can boot into the previous kernel that does not have the kernel panic issue by hitting ESC key after the Dell logo, you will see the so-called GRUB menu after that, please select the previous kernel in "Advanced options for Ubuntu". And file a bug with that kernel (or even run upgrade to get the latest kernel, maybe it's already been fixed there) * If it's related to the non-functioning touchpad, please run "apport-collect 1488672" command in the terminal to collect necessary reports for it. Thanks! [Bug 1491566] Re: Shell not responsive after an incoming SMS
Please fix this one. I use my Ubuntu phone every day and texting quite a bit. Meaning this bug happens often.. meaning I have to restart my phone often. It seems from my experience that the phone gets slower and slower the more you text until it locks up completely. After restarting everything is much faster. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1491566 Title: Shell not responsive after an incoming SMS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1491566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
