[Bug 1491761] Re: Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02) not working in 14.04 and 15.04

2015-09-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
filip, as per http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/Compaq-
Presario-CQ71-Notebook-PC-series/4004498/model/4039991 an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F.23). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1451565] Re: /var/log owned by wrong group (android_input) (again)

2015-09-15 Thread Selene Scriven
I find it trivial to reproduce this issue:
1. adb reboot bootloader
2. ubuntu-device-flash foo
3. Note that syslog works normally.
4. adb reboot bootloader
5. ubuntu-device-flash foo
6. Note that syslog no longer works.

Steps 4/5/6 can be repeated if desired. The only way I've found to get
a good flash again is to flash a different build number.

[Bug 1470700] Re: QNetworkAccessManager hangs when in flight mode

2015-09-15 Thread Lorn Potter
FAIL!  : tst_QXmlInputSource::waitForReadyIODevice() 'reply->error() ==
QNetworkReply::NoError' returned FALSE. ()
   Loc: [tst_qxmlinputsource.cpp(150)]

This test is http client/server test. I have tested this here and it
hangs on previous version (5.4.2) as well. The request never gets the
finished signal.

As for the attachment in #20, it also fails at:

FAIL!  : tst_QUdpSocket::initTestCase() 'networkSession->waitForOpened(3)'
returned FALSE. ()
   Loc: [../tst_qudpsocket.cpp(179)]

In which case is a test that fails to check for start/stop capabilities
before it tries to open a NetworkSession (which will fail using only the
generic bearer plugin (like a system without networkmanager or connman),
as it cannot start or stop interfaces/connections like the network
manager bearer plugin can.

Not knowing all that much about ubuntu tests, looking at that weather app log:
(but I do know app armor blocks QNAM/network manager dbus requests, and I
believe they refuse to open app armor to allow clients to access QNAM/network
manager)

[Bug 1490494] Re: [LENOVO 80H8] hibernate/resume failure

2015-09-15 Thread Asbjørn Nilsen Riseth
I have tested a few more kernels to see if we can narrow down the
problem. It works on the newest 3.13.0 generic kernel, built in August,
as well as the 3.19 kernel built in April.

The problem has probably been introduced somewhere on the 3.19 line
between late .April and late July. I'll try to pin it down later.

Platform hibernation works on the following:
Linux nb-infomm-09 3.13.0-51-generic #84-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 15 12:08:34 UTC
2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Linux nb-infomm-09 3.13.0-63-generic #103-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 14 21:42:59 UTC
2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Linux nb-infomm-09 3.19.0-15-generic #15-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 16 23:32:37 UTC
2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It does not work on:
Linux nb-infomm-09 3.19.0-28-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Aug 31 15:52:51 UTC
2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

[Bug 1492632] Re: [Ubuntu 15.10] Intel Display i915 driver crashes, Asus Zenbook 303LA

2015-09-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Peter Matulis, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder)? Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1496223] [NEW] squid3 FTBFS due to linux-libc-dev and libc6-dev headers mismatch

2015-09-15 Thread Tiago Stürmer Daitx
Public bug reported:

Note: currently squid3 fails due to libecap3-dev dependency, this is
easily fixed by going back to libecap2-dev (only squid 3.5+ will build
with libecap3-dev [1]).

After libecap2-dev dependency fix, squid then fails due to "logical-not-
parentheses".

g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H  -I../.. -I../../include -I../../lib -I../../src
-I../../include -isystem /usr
/include/mit-krb5 -isystem /usr/include/mit-krb5 -I. -I/usr/include/libxml2

hand side of compari
son [-Werror=logical-not-parentheses]
 if (!heap_nodes(heap->theHeap) > 0)
^

Fixing that, it then fails due to mismatching headers between linux-
libc-dev_4.2.0-10.11 and libc6-dev_2.21-0ubuntu4.

Tried to ignore "#include linux/netfilter.h" in src/ip/Intercept.cc:99
to no avail as build fails later on due to missing "SO_ORIGINAL_DST" in
Intercept.cc. Removing arpa and netinet header inclusions also lead to
eventual build failures due to missing symbols.

So far I have found no way to have squid linking solely to either the
kernel or libc without disabling netfilter altogether.

[Bug 1496102] Re: Bluetooth connection breaks in a few seconds

2015-09-15 Thread Simon Fels
Basically we don't support phone-to-phone connections at the moment.
When initiating the connection the Ubuntu device to another phone that
will even not be possible as we disable the "connect" button for a
phone-type device. However if you make the connection the other way
round that depends on which profile the remote wants to use and if the
remote device is marked as trusted after it got paired. If it is not
marked as trusted there is now way to allow the connection at the moment
as we just don't allow it.

As already stated on bug 1496107 this is a missing feature and will be
added in the future.

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout

2015-09-15 Thread Ivan Larionov
@Alberto no offense, but for Unity this bug was never fixed, so you can
easily add tag "all future Ubuntu releases". Bugs doesn't disappear if
no one tries to fix it. And I assume that no one tries because it's 2
years old and affects a lot of people.

P.S. I'm talking about this parts of this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1280759
(Super+A/F/M/C/V hotkeys).

[Bug 1496236] [NEW] package dkms 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: package dkms is already installed and configured

2015-09-15 Thread Bill Plachy
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release:14.04

Running software updater I get the message waiting for configuration file
prompt. The prompt is:
Replace your changes in 'etc/ati/atiapfxx' with a later version of the
configuration file?
The list of changes is empty. Selecting either command button (Keep or Replace)
does nothing and the system is hung.
I closed both the prompt and SoftwareUpdater dialogs and rebooted. I then
removed the AMD proprietary driver. While it was being applied I got this???

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout

2015-09-15 Thread ZoLToR
I had made PPA for 14.04 Trusty with patched unity-ettings-daemon (patch
from comment 258) - https://launchpad.net/~zoltor/+archive/ubuntu/unity-
settings-daemon (maybe something wrong, this is my first PPA :D )

@ Ivan Larionov, hm, I have no issues with Super+* hotkeys (I didn't
applied Roman's patch from message 261). But I'm tested it on Trusty
(x64) and you - on Vivid. Maybe this is important difference, don't
know. Sometime appropriate lense opening not from first time when hot-
key is pressed but this lag is exists both on an english and russian
layouts for me :)

I can confirm that the package in trusty-proposed resolves the issue for

[Bug 1496226] [NEW] Top-left menu disappears after viewing a photo

2015-09-15 Thread Michi Henning
Public bug reported:

Take a few photos with the camera. Start gallery app. Tap on one of the
photos in the events view. Tap on the photo and then on the "back"
chevron. Now the events view shows again, and the menu at the top-left
has disappeared. (It's now a black box and tapping on that doesn't
activate the menu.) It appears that there is no way to recover from this
other than to kill and re-start the app.

I'm seeing this on Mako with image 240.

[Bug 1496227] [NEW] Remove glade-3 from Archive, 15.10+

2015-09-15 Thread Bryan Quigley
Public bug reported:

With Quickly removed per bug 1494345 there are no Reverse Dependencies
on glade-3.

Source package: glade-3
Binary packages: glade-gnome glade-gtk2 libgladeui-1-11 libgladeui-1-dev

There is a suggests from libglade2-dev (not being removed) -> glade-
gnome but this is also broken in Debian
-https://packages.debian.org/sid/libglade2-dev

These packages appear to have been removed from Debian for quite some time,
glade-gnome is currently only found in oldoldstable.
(The one exception is https://packages.debian.org/sid/libgladeui-1-dev which I
don't really understand)

There appears to be no future updates coming -
https://git.gnome.org/browse/glade/?h=glade-3-8

It was previously removed in 2011 but added back to keep support for
create/editing gtk2 uis - also due to Quickly, per bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glade-3/+bug/825070. I don't
believe it's worth keeping in 2015.

Oops, one reverse build depends I missed from libgladeui-1-dev <-
libdesktop-agnostic.
It seems libdesktop-agnostic is in a similar state in Debian and was last
updated upstream in 2011.
*Needs further investigation*

Re: [Bug 1478250] Re: hp x360 laptop keyboard freezes for 1 sec. every few minutes

2015-09-15 Thread thomas a. sargent
Mr. Penalver:
Updating the BIOS fixed the problem! This computer has a "born on" date of
July 1, yet the current rev. of the Megatrends BIOS is F.25 and one they
delivered this machine with was only F.04.

So you can mark this one solved, or closed, or whatever the term is (or I
will if you ell me what to do) and thanks very much.

Tried the autosuspend workaround mentioned above with no change. How do we

[Bug 1495207] Re: BQ E4.5 (r24): after fine update to r25 system is reported as r-1 and as "never" updated

2015-09-15 Thread Matthias Apitz
some remarks to Barry's last comment:

1) keep in mind that the device was nearly fully functional after the
update, I only saw the problem because I went to the 'about' screen and
because of the scopes; it could be the fact that more users are hit by
the problem;

2) the channel.ini file is in a read-only file system; I have had to
remount the root to correct it; i.e. it is nearly impossible that a
normal user could damage that file;

3) I wanted today morning to check the image, but I only see small files
in this place: http://system-image.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-
aquaris.en/krillin/ where is the full image?

thanks for all the support to get my wife's BQ working again!

[Bug 1346935] Re: Failing to create simplestreams bucket on ceph-radosgw

2015-09-15 Thread Felipe Reyes
Patch for Vivid

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ This bug prevents from using simplestreams bucket creation, so new deployments
+ that want to benefit from the glance-simplestreams-sync charm to keep
+ up-to-date images in their private repos is broken.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1) Deploy an OpenStack cloud
+bzr branch lp:~freyes/+junk/lp1346935
+cd lp1346935
+juju deployer -c default-radosgw.yaml -d -v -s 10 SERIES-kilo  # SERIES ->
trusty or kilo depending on which package you're verifying
+ 2) Once everything has settled down, run glance-simplestreams-sync.py
+juju ssh glance-simplestreams-sync/0 sudo
/var/lib/juju/agents/unit-glance-simplestreams-sync-0/charm/scripts/glance-simplestreams-sync.py
+ 3) Check /var/log/glance-simplestreams-sync.log
+tail -n 16 /var/log/glance-simplestreams-sync.log
+
+ 4) Log before applying the fix:
+
+ ERROR * 09-15 19:15:15 [PID:10596] * root * Exception during do_sync
+ Traceback (most recent call last):
+ File "./glance-simplestreams-sync.py", line 286, in
+ do_sync(charm_conf)

+ store = SwiftObjectStore(SWIFT_DATA_DIR)

+ '.r:*,.rlistings'})

in put_container
+ response_dict=response_dict)

in _retry
+ rv = func(self.url, self.token, *args, **kwargs)
+ File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/swiftclient/client.py", line 731, in
put_container
+ http_response_content=body)
+ ClientException: Container PUT failed:

{"Code":"MethodNotAllowed"}
+ INFO * 09-15 19:15:15 [PID:10596] * root * sync done.
+
+ 5) Install the patched package
+ 6) Re-run glance-simplestreams-sync.py (step 2)
+ 7) Check glance-simplestreams-sync.log, log should look like:
+
+ DEBUG * 09-15 19:38:22 [PID:10789] * urllib3.connectionpool * "PUT
/swift/v1/simplestreams HTTP/1.1" 201 0

http://10.5.150.54:80/swift/v1/simplestreams -X PUT -H "Content-Length: 0" -H

'text/plain; charset=utf-8')]
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ - Minor, this patch is already integrated in Wily[0] and the change only gets
rid
+ of the logic that removes the version from the endpoint.
+ - I tested this patch using a real swift endpoint and there is no regression
+ detected
+
+ [Other Info]
+
If ceph-radosgw (which provides a Swift API for Ceph) is used instead of
Swift, simplestreams sync fail to create the simplestreams bucket.

I tried using the glance-simplestreams-sync charm, and got the following
  error:
