2015-10-16 Thread Gedas Vaitkus
Hi,

I checked this issue right now on my Aquaris 4.5 with the latest
updates. NO MORE PROBLEM - BT settings follow each other correctly on
both panels. Apparently this issue was solved by the earlier updates.

Thanks!

[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang

2015-10-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
@doko
"I'm still sceptical about how to track third party libaries, i.e. if
they are included as a dependency, or built form the vendorized
copies. dh-golang tries to do that, and sets the "Built-Using"
attribute for the binary packages. If juju-core doesn't want, or cannot use
dh-golang, that should be done directly in the packaging. Is this a solved
problem how to select which copy to use, or does this still need investigation?"

The security team has a mechanism for tracking embedded copies and while
I would've preferred to see many of the embedded copies moved out to
golang-*-dev packages, for 15.10 the security team agreed to the juju
team updating juju to use the golang-*-dev packages that currently exist
in the archive. I'll be filing a separate bug for 16.04 to pull out the
others. Furthermore, We have developed in response to this MIR a process
and tooling for tracking Built-Using. The upcoming
https://code.launchpad.net/~james-page/ubuntu/wily/juju-core/mir-
fixes/+merge/274052 uses Built-Using and dh-golang, so juju-core is 'ok'
on this front.

"jujud is still linked statically. Is this needed for the juju-core
copy in the archive?"

As mentioned in comment 119, this is ok for 15.10.

This should remain 'Incomplete' and can be marked 'Fix Committed' once
https://code.launchpad.net/~james-page/ubuntu/wily/juju-core/mir-
fixes/+merge/274052 is uploaded.

[Bug 1506993] [NEW] please rename package to conform to Debian Go packaging guidelines

2015-10-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

MIR bug 1267393 discovered:

mterry:
"Its name is wrong [1]. It should be golang-github-juju-loggo and
golang-github-juju-loggo-dev. We should fix in Ubuntu so that if it's ever
packaged in Debian, we'll be aligned.

[1] http://pkg-go.alioth.debian.org/packaging.html
"

I think a package rename is too late for 15.10 and for the MIR, but
please get it fixed in 16.04 and adjust anything that uses it.

** Affects: golang-juju-loggo (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1506946] [NEW] Volume increases on its own when phone is muted.

2015-10-16 Thread Josh Arenson
Public bug reported:

I'm traveling with limited bandwidth and electricity so I lack the
resources to investigate this much further today.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Put phone in silent mode
2. Start playing "machines vs machines"
3. Sound plays at full volume (don't know if this is, itself, a bug)
4. Turn down volume and continue playing.

Expected behavior: Volume stays silent
Actual behavior: Every 20 seconds or so, the volume will increase itself
several levels

Running rc-proposed on arale

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2015-10-16 Thread Eloy Vallina
Also happens here in my Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 with Spanish layout. Even
though the top bar states that the keyboard layout is Spanish 1
(international), the real layout is wrong, probably en_US.

A workaround this issue is to have two favourite keyboard layouts that
will appear in the drop-down when you click on the language icon on your
top bar. In my case, I have two spanish layouts and I can easily change
from es1 to es2 and then back to es1. The keyboard configuration is now
truly es1 which what matches my hardware and I can keep working.

To add a keyboard layout in this drop-down menu just go to
System>Keyboard>Layout settings!

Hope that helps until they come up with some true solution.

For a problem this stupid I sincerely don't understand it has been here
so long.

[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang

2015-10-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
@doko:
"While not required, it is good to see that shared library support is
being worked on, and targeted for the upcoming 1.6. release." It is only not
required for 15.10, it is a condition of this MIR (that the juju and
foundations teams already agreed to) that we gain shared library support by
default in the archive for 16.04 if possible.

The juju team still reserves the right to statically link for juju-core
in 16.04 if shared library decreases stability for the project for the
LTS (in which case, they'll pursue shared library support for juju-core
in 16.10). This has all been discussed with the security team.

Per comment #67, the Foundations team is assuming responsibility for the
maintenance of the golang toolchain, and will work with the juju team to
ensure this is properly resourced.

The go libraries that are being brought into main as dependencies of
juju and lxd will be the responsibility of those respective teams (which
is the status quo).

[Bug 1506953] [NEW] Sessions are not recreated after a media-hub crash

2015-10-16 Thread Tiago Salem Herrmann
Public bug reported:

After a media-hub crash (or even a manual kill $(pidof media-hub-server) ),
existing sessions are not being invalidated/recreated.
That causes telephony-service-indicator to stop playing notifications for new
messages, as it always reuse the same instance.

In dbus we see it is still trying to use an invalid session:
-
method call sender=:1.132 -> dest=core.ubuntu.media.Service serial=77706
path=/core/ubuntu/media/Service/sessions/3;
interface=org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player; member=OpenUri
   string "file:///usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/notifications/Xylo.ogg"
error sender=:1.485 -> dest=:1.132
error_name=org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod reply_serial=77706
   string "Method "OpenUri" with signature "s" on interface
"org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player" doesn't exist
"
---

And the logs are being flooded with the following message:

-
Failed to get current playback position: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMeth
od: Method "Get" with signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properti
es" doesn't exist
--

AalMediaPlayerService creates both the media session and the media hub
control instance in its constructor, but it does not seem to manage
media-hub appearing/disappearing on dbus.

[Bug 1502178] Re: update squid from 3.3.8 to 3.3.14

2015-10-16 Thread Adam Conrad
>From a supportability standpoint, it's actually easier to have the same
upstream version in trusty and wily (given that trusty is supported
longer), so security patches apply identically to both.

Are there any arguments for a late-in-the-release update to 3.3.14 other
than "it's newer"?

If not, I'd say we should just close this and look to merging with
Debian for 16.04.

If not, I'd say we should just close this and look to merging with
Debian for 16.04.

[Bug 1506967] [NEW] display page labels in find sidebar

2015-10-16 Thread Peter Pasedach
Public bug reported:

Evince uses the page numbers of the pdf when displaying search results
in the find sidebar. If one has a document with a more complex
structure, such as different page ranges for frontmatter in roman and
mainmatter in arabic, one wants to use the page labels instead. I've
reported this to upstream,
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756683 , and a patch has been
proposed, this patch is for the evince master branch though, and my
attempt at adapting it to 3.10.3 did not succeed.

[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang

2015-10-16 Thread Steve Langasek
> golang 1.5 is now built on arm64 and ppc64el, however juju-core
> is built using gccgo. Is there a reason for it?

The reason for this is that the package is being backported directly to
trusty, under the juju Stable Release Exception for SRUs. Since there
is not a compatible version of golang in trusty, the package is
currently built for all releases using gccgo.

I believe we will want to revisit this in the future, but I think this
should be separable from the MIR question, do you agree?

> - the packaging is a copy of the mongodb package, however it looks
>like the packaging itself isn't merged / updated where needed.
>This problem is shared with the mongodb package in Ubuntu.

The mongodb package is in universe and unsupported. The juju-mongodb
package exists to support juju-core and provides a subset of
functionality specifically validated for use with juju. I don't think
this should be a blocker for the MIR?

> - google-perftools is available on all archs. Is there a need to
>disable that for some architectures?

It's not available on arm64 in trusty, so probably should not be enabled
on that architecture. It probably should be enabled on ppc64el and
powerpc.

> - the package should be built for the upcoming s390x architecture as
>well.

Yes, it should; the architecture list in debian/control should just be
dropped so that the package builds automatically for all architectures.

These last two points are good packaging feedback, but they don't seem
to be critical for the package's current supportability in main
(especially considering s390x is not in wily)
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuMainInclusionRequirements).  Can this be
spun out into a bug report against the juju-mongodb package, unblocking
the MIR for this component?

[Bug 1506969] [NEW] Window dimming effect stays after window has gone

2015-10-16 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I have recently noticed that on Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 with GNOME 3.16 that
sometimes if a window pops-up from a program and I go into the
Activities Overview, that then if that window closes the dimming effect
that it had on the main window behind it stays no matter what you do,
unless you manage to open a new pop-up window such as a new dialog box
and then close it, that seems to remove the dimming, but otherwise a
restart of the application is required. I have noticed this issue with
Firefox and VirtualBox, but I am sure that it is not application-
specific and has something to do with the window management or
something.

[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo, golang

2015-10-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Ok, this is a very complicated MIR with so many comments it is difficult
to track. I went through the bug and came up with the following list of
remaining items. If I missed something, please comment. Hopefully, no
one has to look before this comment on if everything is done. :)

* security team commitments: develop a process for the list of packages to
notify the juju team on when there is a security update. This is not a
precondition of this MIR, but a request of the juju team
* golang-go.crypto
 - needs a bug subscriber
* golang-gocheck
 - can be dropped when bug #1504821 is fixed (comment #82)
* golang-goyaml
 - can be dropped when bug #1504821 is fixed (comment #82)
* golang-x-text
 - ftbfs (comment 115)
 - needs a bug subscriber
* juju-core
 - what is the status of

https://code.launchpad.net/~james-page/ubuntu/wily/juju-core/mir-fixes/+merge/274052
 ? jamespage said it is 'pending testing by the juju qa team'.
* dep8 question (comments 86, 93, 99, 100, 101, 117)
 - pitti's comment in #99 needs to be done. It could be done as an SRU. If that
is the approach, please file a bug on this and comment here

Basically, need to merges to land in juju-core, fix the test in
golang-x-text, bug suscribers and someone to do the dep8 work.

For a webapp too, you need to add the "location" policy group in the app’s
apparmor manifest.
If that doesn’t work even like this, please provide more details on what you’re
seeing, and maybe share with us the code for your app.

[Bug 1506971] [NEW] ubuntu-release-upgrader bugs regarding dpkg crashes lack useful information

2015-10-16 Thread Brian Murray
Public bug reported:

If we look at the following problem in the Ubuntu Error Tracker we can
see hundreds of issues with the following duplicate signature -
"SystemError ( E) Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)".

https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/d2dd8ddd68b15cbf2c7a6e1dea241adf4a051ac0

If we look at any specific instance of that problem
(https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/887de81c-7421-11e5-a1b7-fa163e4ccdf2) we
see nothing more informative. This needs to be sorted out so that we
don't keep binning crashes in that bucket and can create some actionable
problems.

[Bug 1506971] Re: ubuntu-release-upgrader bugs regarding dpkg crashes lack useful information

2015-10-16 Thread Brian Murray
Looking at the ubuntu-release-upgrader package hook there is the
following code:

48 if problem_type == 'Crash':
 49 tmpdir = re.compile('ubuntu-release-upgrader-\w+')
 50 tb = report.get("Traceback", None)
 51 if tb:
 52 dupe_sig = ''
 53 for line in tb.splitlines():
 54 scrub_line = tmpdir.sub('ubuntu-release-upgrader-tmpdir',
line)
 55 dupe_sig += scrub_line + '\n'
 56 report["DuplicateSignature"] = dupe_sig

There is nothing abnormal there, scrubbing is just to replace the tmp
path in which the ubuntu-release-upgrader ones with one that is generic
enough so that upgrades from different systems will have not a unique
path in the traceback.

* golang-go.crypto
 - needs a bug subscriber
* golang-gocheck
 - can be dropped when bug #1504821 is fixed (comment #82)
* golang-goyaml
 - can be dropped when bug #1504821 is fixed (comment #82)
* golang-x-text
 - ftbfs (comment 115)
 - needs a bug subscriber
* juju-core
 - what is the status of

https://code.launchpad.net/~james-page/ubuntu/wily/juju-core/mir-fixes/+merge/274052
 ? jamespage said it is 'pending testing by the juju qa team'.
* dep8 question (comments 86, 93, 99, 100, 101, 117)
 - pitti's comment in #99 needs to be done. It could be done as an SRU. If that
is the approach, please file a bug on this and comment here

Basically, need to merges to land in juju-core, fix the test in
golang-x-text, bug suscribers and someone to do the dep8 work.

2015-10-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package powerpc-ibm-utils - 1.2.26-2

---
powerpc-ibm-utils (1.2.26-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * bad_variable.patch: Add extra quoting to update_flash (LP: #1491977)
  * stop_kexec_nv.patch: Stop kexec before starting flash (LP: #1491063)
  * stop_kexec_vm.patch: Likewise, but also do it for PowerVM platforms.
