[Bug 1507224] [NEW] mplayer keyboard controls don't work with audio files
Public bug reported: Observed keyboard hotkey behaviour: - don't work with audio files with regular users or using sudo - work perfectly with video files with regular users - don't work with video files when using the -novideo option Expected behaviour: - should always work, for all types of (supported) files Other notes: - up to relatively recently (1 month?), everything was fine - it may have something to do with window focus (mplayer creates a new window for video files...) - the following messages are always displayed, regardless of the -novideo option: "Cannot open file '/home/tna/.mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory Failed to open /home/tna/.mplayer/input.conf. Cannot open file '/etc/mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory Failed to open /etc/mplayer/input.conf." I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. ** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507224 Title: mplayer keyboard controls don't work with audio files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mplayer/+bug/1507224/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1499556] Re: Computer Reboots Instead of Halting
Ed, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. This isn't something that we would add in Ubuntu; you might suggest it to the upstream gparted developers, but I don't see it as very useful since filling a disk above 95% tends to lead to high fragmentation, and there aren't really any journal options that are useful to tweak. ** Changed in: gparted (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1505002 Title: gparted should offer options like tune2fs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/1505002/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1507230] [NEW] 15.10beta trouble with suspend
Public bug reported: Hi, the powermode suspend (to ram) was working perfectly, reliably, fast and without any problem on my machine with 14.04. It does not work properly with 15.10 beta anymore: Doing a suspend through the Xubuntu menu drives the machine off. It can't restartet again and needs a fresh boot. using pm-suspend puts the machine in a correct suspend mode, where the power led is blinking as expected, and even wakes up again, but the screen is not initialized correctly. It looks pink, severely distorted, contents moving. I can see something which remotely looks like the login window, but need a full reboot in order to make the screen work again correctly. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1507201/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1505242] Re: WARNING: ... intel_display.c:11100 intel_check_page_flip
Visi Bilius, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and- netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g40-80 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (95). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-95 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Attachment removed: "version.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1507091/+attachment/4497509/+files/version.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507091 Title: Corrupted low memory on Ubuntu 15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1507091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1506501] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 00400004
Alfredo Ponce, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? [Bug 1505670] Re: "uncaptured python exception"
I just ran into this bug, and I think I've figured it out. /usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover is outputting the URL of my squid-deb-proxy server, but it is also spitting out some errors: root@debian:~# /usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover error: uncaptured python exception, closing channel ('192.168.2.232', 3142): 9223372036854775807 (:[Errno 111] Connection refused [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|read|83] [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_read_event|446] [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_connect_event|454]) error: uncaptured python exception, closing channel ('192.168.2.80', 3142): 9223372036854775807 (:[Errno 111] Connection refused [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|read|83] [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_read_event|446] [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_connect_event|454]) http://192.168.2.232:8000/] The problem here is that the errors are going to stdout, not to stderr. This means apt's Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect is not able to figure out what the proxy URL is. I have locally modified apt-avahi-discover so that the errors are sent to stderr, and I have verified that this allows apt's Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect to work correctly. I have attached this as a patch. This patch is enough to fix this bug, but I'm not sure it's ultimately the best fix for the overall issue. I think ideally, in the case were apt-avahi-discover encounters non-fatal errors (and is still able to produce a working URL), these error should probably just get logged to syslog, rather than being sent to stderr, because it does make apt's console output look rather ugly, and the user doesn't need to see any of that, because if there's a working URL, ultimately they don't care any other errors.
