[Bug 1507224] [NEW] mplayer keyboard controls don't work with audio files

2015-10-17 Thread Tomislav
Public bug reported:

Observed keyboard hotkey behaviour:

- don't work with audio files with regular users or using sudo
- work perfectly with video files with regular users
- don't work with video files when using the -novideo option

Expected behaviour:

- should always work, for all types of (supported) files

Other notes:

- up to relatively recently (1 month?), everything was fine
- it may have something to do with window focus (mplayer creates a new window
for video files...)
- the following messages are always displayed, regardless of the -novideo
option:

"Cannot open file '/home/tna/.mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory
Failed to open /home/tna/.mplayer/input.conf.
Cannot open file '/etc/mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory
Failed to open /etc/mplayer/input.conf."

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit.

** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

No. I do not do such a thing.
Another additional packages like "language-pack-gnome-ja-base", "ibus-anthy"
(Ubuntu only), and "firefox-locale-ja" are installed by default.
fcitx-mozc is only package which is not installed by default.

[Bug 1499556] Re: Computer Reboots Instead of Halting

2015-10-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ed, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the
very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for
testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions
are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1505002] Re: gparted should offer options like tune2fs

2015-10-17 Thread Phillip Susi
This isn't something that we would add in Ubuntu; you might suggest it
to the upstream gparted developers, but I don't see it as very useful
since filling a disk above 95% tends to lead to high fragmentation, and
there aren't really any journal options that are useful to tweak.

[Bug 1507230] [NEW] 15.10beta trouble with suspend

2015-10-17 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

the powermode suspend (to ram) was working perfectly, reliably, fast and
without any problem on my machine with 14.04.

It does not work properly with 15.10 beta anymore:

Doing a suspend through the Xubuntu menu drives the machine off. It
can't restartet again and needs a fresh boot.

using pm-suspend puts the machine in a correct suspend mode, where the
power led is blinking as expected, and even wakes up again, but the
screen is not initialized correctly. It looks pink, severely
distorted, contents moving. I can see something which remotely looks
like the login window, but need a full reboot in order to make the
screen work again correctly.

[Bug 1507201] Re: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image

2015-10-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1507201/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1411017] Re: No bootable image was found.

2015-10-17 Thread Phillip Susi
For some reason the Ubuntu entry is not configured as a choice in the
BootOrder. Try running sudo efibootmgr -o 0003 and see if that fixes it
( if not, what does efibootmgr -v show then? ).

[Bug 1506532] Re: Update to stable release 3.18.1

2015-10-17 Thread Javier Antonio Nisa Avila
Ok, but then why he does not say that it is an unstable version??
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution

I understand what you put me is the original source. I fully understand
the impossibility that they can not enter now working in the sector and
would not be safe to make the update now.

I hope you continue updating the 16.04

And apologies for making you lose development time.

[Bug 1505242] Re: WARNING: ... intel_display.c:11100 intel_check_page_flip

2015-10-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Visi Bilius, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available
from the very top line at the top of the page from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder)? Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

[Bug 1507245] [NEW] Not all language support files are installed even 'install updates' is selected during installation

2015-10-17 Thread Walter Cheuk
Public bug reported:

Not all language support files are installed even 'install updates' is
selected during installation. One have to wait for the installation to
complete, reboot, open 'language support' to install all necessary
files, logout and login, to enable very basic feature such as IMEs for
East Asian locales. Average users may not know that and will wonder why
even the basic features are not functional, even the correct language is
selected during installation. All language support files should be
installed if the users selected 'install updates', as the user already
prepared to download and install a large amount of data.

[Bug 1471803] Re: Mouse not detected

2015-10-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Groxxxy, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to
help make Ubuntu better. However, Linux Mint is not a software package
provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu
project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please report this
bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

If you are interested in learning more about software repositories and
Ubuntu, check https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories

If this is reproducible in Ubuntu, please file a new report with Ubuntu (not
Mint) via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Please ensure you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you
click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information.

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status
Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

[Bug 1506501] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 00400004

2015-10-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Alfredo Ponce, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from
the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com

[Bug 1505670] Re: "uncaptured python exception"

2015-10-17 Thread cell
I just ran into this bug, and I think I've figured it out.

/usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover is outputting the
URL of my squid-deb-proxy server, but it is also spitting out some
errors:

root@debian:~# /usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover
error: uncaptured python exception, closing channel
('192.168.2.232', 3142): 9223372036854775807 (:[Errno
111] Connection refused [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|read|83]
[/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_read_event|446]
[/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_connect_event|454])
error: uncaptured python exception, closing channel
('192.168.2.80', 3142): 9223372036854775807 (:[Errno 111]
Connection refused [/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|read|83]
[/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_read_event|446]
[/usr/lib/python2.7/asyncore.py|handle_connect_event|454])
http://192.168.2.232:8000/]

The problem here is that the errors are going to stdout, not to stderr.
This means apt's Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect is not able to figure
out what the proxy URL is.

I have locally modified apt-avahi-discover so that the errors are sent
to stderr, and I have verified that this allows apt's
Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect to work correctly. I have attached this
as a patch.

This patch is enough to fix this bug, but I'm not sure it's ultimately
the best fix for the overall issue. I think ideally, in the case were
apt-avahi-discover encounters non-fatal errors (and is still able to
produce a working URL), these error should probably just get logged to
syslog, rather than being sent to stderr, because it does make apt's
console output look rather ugly, and the user doesn't need to see any of
that, because if there's a working URL, ultimately they don't care any
other errors.

(This is what apt's output looks like with the patch applied to apt-
avahi-discover:)
