[Bug 1508363] Re: Coordinated migration to UITK 1.3

2015-10-22 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
** Description changed:

The migration to 1.3 needs to happen in a coordinated way, so that shell
and all apps we care of migrate within the same OTA window to reduce
  visual inconsistencies to a minimum.

This bug is a means to collect all the projects affected and keep tabs
  on what's happening.

  NOTES:
  - *All* Ubuntu.Components imports (including ListItems, Popups, Pickers,
Theme, Styles etc.) should go to 1.3.
  - Theme is now theme (lowercase)
  - PageHeadStyle now has a "config" property
+
+ QUESTION:
+ In manifest.json file, should we use:
+"framework": "ubuntu-sdk-15.04-qml",
+ or
+"framework": "ubuntu-sdk-15.04.1-qml",
+ ?

[Bug 1509022] [NEW] system-settings may not be responding to system-image D-Bus signals

2015-10-22 Thread Barry Warsaw
Public bug reported:

While testing system-image 3.0.2 for vivid overlay, using the test plan
here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/ubuntu-system-image
(3.B - manual download for s-i 3), two problems were noticed.

First, when using `system-image-cli --set auto_download=0`, the system-
settings panel didn't notice the change in the auto_download value. At
first I though it might be missing the SettingsChanged D-Bus signal, but
then I realized that the signal is not sent when using system-image-cli
(only when using the normal D-Bus API). system-settings would have to
poll for that value. I will open a bugtask for system-image but 1) I'm
not sure it's possible to send the signal from the -cli; 2) it's an odd
corner case anyway because generally only developers/testers are using
system-image-cli.

Second, when I invoke the manual download through system-settings, I
don't see any progress. It goes from 0% to prompting to install the
update, after a short wait. Please verify that system-settings is
responding to the UpdateProgress signal.

[Bug 657488] Re: gnome-language-selector doesn't list en installed lang so i cannot select installed english language

2015-10-22 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
The issue with Irish has been further discussed at
. An attempt to reinstall language-pack-
ga-base resulted in:

Generating locales...
ga_IE.UTF-8... cannot open locale definition file `ga_IE': No such file or
directory
failed

Hence the problem seems to be caused by an incomplete installation of
the locales package. This is not a language-selector bug, so I'm closing
this bug.

[Bug 1295267] Re: Windows change Monitor/Desktop after screen lock

2015-10-22 Thread David Klasinc
I am seeing this on 15.10, running nvidia GTX 670 with proprietary
drivers.

I recently changed monitors, I had Dell 2560x1440 and LG 1920x1080 and
everything was working out as it should. Now I have Dell 3840x2160 and
LG 1920x1080.

And sometimes after the screen is unlocked windows are pseudo randomly
displaced and resized. Most of the time they aren't on the same virtual
desktop, not the same size and also physical position is different.
Something really strange is going on.

Sometimes certain windows have only title bar and an outline visible and
are otherwise inaccessible.

Also, locking the screen manually and then immediately unlocking works.
So this might be connected with the screens being turned off and then
back on?

[Bug 1499746] Re: Early Syslinux Boot Error in pendrive made with the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator

2015-10-22 Thread Vertago1
I don't believe the note on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WilyWerewolf/ReleaseNotes is completely correct
at the moment. I just tried to make an amd64 15.10 image from 15.10 and
it sort of works in that the uEFI works, but the legacy boot gives the
syslinux error.

[Bug 1506817] Re: left TPP/2 IBM TrackPoint "sticks on" randomly (X250 15.04)

2015-10-22 Thread Jont Allen
Is this piece of information relevent to my problem?

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lenovo_ThinkPad_X250#Mouse

Mouse

The touchpad and TrackPoint work out of the box, but the physical buttons for
the trackpoint do not. You will need to install xf86-input-synaptics.
Note: The most recent Linux kernels (at least 4.0.5) support TrackPoint buttons
out of the box. The following information pertains only to older versions of
the kernel.

If you would rather not install a recent kernel, there is a work around
for Linux 3.19.2-ARCH. If you add options psmouse proto=imps to
/etc/modprobe.d/x250.conf, you can force the mouse module to use a more
basic protocol than the built in one for the TrackPoint, which needs a
patch. The effect is that the touchpad and mouse are treated as one
device, but synaptics is not supported. If you want two finger
scrolling, for example, you will need to either deal with the broken
TrackPoint buttons are install the new module.

[Bug 1462664] Re: [Ubuntu Phone] With WIFI = ON the GPS stops

2015-10-22 Thread Thomas Voß
I managed to reproduce the issue with a non-responding client. The
service *should* not wait for the client to answer to position updates,
but we apparently do. For that, I attached a branch that tackles the
issue by asynchronously handling (lack of) responses.

[Bug 1504445] Re: FocalTech touchpad stops working after suspend

2015-10-22 Thread Thatoo
Harakhay, the guy who find a solution in here,
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1572218#p1572218 , told me a
little bit more how he solved his problem :

Everybody suggested him to add SUSPEND_MODULES="psmouse" in
/etc/pm/config.d/modules, but it didn't help for him. So he found all
modules dependent upon psmouse, and some dependent upon those modules as
well. He had about 6 of them. Then he did this trick with all these
modules (unload on suspend, load on resume), and he found out that it
works. Then only thing he needed to do was to find out what module from
those 6 is needed to be reloaded

Now, to try his solution, because i8042 doesn't works in my case, I need
to how to find all modules dependent upon psmouse, and some dependent
upon those modules as well...

Does anyone can help me with that?

[Bug 1508826] [NEW] [20ANCTO1WW, Realtek ALC3232, Black Headphone Out, Left] No sound at all when headset plugged in

2015-10-22 Thread Dan Watkins
Public bug reported:

Sounds works fine through the internal speakers, but once I plug a
headset or headphones (I tried two things, in case one was broken) in to
the audio out, I get nothing.

Looking in alsamixer, plugging the headset in mutes the 'Speaker' output
and unmutes the 'Headphone' output, and restores the Master volume to
its previous headset-in value. Unplugging the headset does the opposite
(mutes 'Headphone'; unmutes 'Speaker'), as I would expect.

This was working on vivid, so a definite regression, I think.

[Bug 1507994] Re: Broadwell vaapi video decode broken by i915_bpo migration

2015-10-22 Thread Peter Frühberger
Sorry: vo=opengl in combination with --hwdec=vaapi please

I also don't know if the mpv package you are using is some cripled
debian / ubuntu version with patched out stuff. But you can easily try
with the kodi package ubuntu ships. Turn on VAAPI and Prefer VAAPI
Render-Method, that should make the issue clearly visible. Afterwards
downgrade the kernel and see it working again.

Btw. using the CHV driver in combination with the very outdated vaapi
1.5.0 I don't consider a great choice either. CHV started to work
"mostly bugfree" after libva / libva-driver-intel 1.6.1 was released.

[Bug 1507886] Re: DistUpgradeFetcherKDE crashes on method _warning

2015-10-22 Thread Harald Sitter
Verified fixed with proposed. Upgrader doesn't crash but correctly
displays an error.

** Description changed:

  # Impact
DistUpgradeFetcherKDE.py calls self._warning() but in fact _warning is not an
instance method of the fetcher but rather a global helper. This causes early
unhandled exceptions to entirely defunc the fetcher rendering upgrades with the
KDE UI impossible. NB: this only happens iff there was a problem getting the
release notes to begin with.

  This was fixed in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-
upgrader/1:15.10.4 and needs to be SRU'd into vivid as it also suffers
  from the problem.

  # Test Case
+ - setup a apt-cacher-ng as proxy
+ > $ cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/apt-cacher
+ > Acquire::http { Proxy "http://localhost:3142;; };
  - run `kdesudo -- do-release-upgrade -m desktop -f DistUpgradeViewKDE`
  - should come up with installer

  # Regression Potential
Can't break anymore than getting another undefined method exception as we do
now.

  # Other Info
In testing I didn't actually get the fetcher UI itself to display, so I
expect there is more wrong. It would however be a good start to not have it
crash.

[Bug 1507982] Re: [regression] OTA7 broke previously working app

2015-10-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sorry. It appears in r2867 (which went into Mir 0.16.0) we broke the
binary input event protocol (which is separate to protobuf). It's
sufficiently broken that any Mir-0.15 or earlier client will reject and
ignore all input messages it gets from v0.16 or newer servers.

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mir-team/mir/development-
branch/revision/2867#3rd_party/android-
input/android/frameworks/base/include/androidfw/InputTransport.h

It would be difficult and messy to repair the problem sufficiently such
that the old and new binary formats could be supported simultaneously.
Not impossible, but probably not something we're going to invest in
right now.

That plus r2893 made the problem worse by rejecting older clients
outright, possibly without knowing the intricacies of the r2867
regression. Again, sorry this happened. The relevant people have been
informed so hopefully it won't happen again.

[Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2

2015-10-22 Thread Zeioth
I've fixed it downgrading the kernel as described in phoronix. Using
"sudo apt-get purge linux-image-yourversionhere" and sudo "apt-get
purge fglrx", then reinstalling the drivers again with "apt-get install
fglrx" and "aticonfig --initial".

[Bug 1507994] Re: Broadwell vaapi video decode broken by i915_bpo migration

2015-10-22 Thread Peter Frühberger
Comparing with VLC will lead to nothing as it does not use VAAPI for
uploading the decoded surfaces. You can test mplayer-vaapi / mpv with
vaapi output to see the issue. From a first point of view I think this
change did not break the decoder but the transfer of decoded surfaces to
GLX via vaputSurface, which would be really critical not only for kodi.

[Bug 1315550] Re: Current 14.04 bitlbee build using broken OTR (fixed in nightlies)

2015-10-22 Thread Timo Jyrinki
@Dx: Argh, so it is. And the packaging is also a bit archaic in other
ways, so I would just apply the patch manually similar to the config
patch. Could you please test the 3.2.1+otr4-1ubuntu0.2~test2 from ppa
:timo-jyrinki/quantal-compiz-unity-testing ? (don't mind the PPA name,
my normal PPA is full so I couldn't use it). I don't want to do another
upload if the actual bug is not fixed.

[Bug 1508794] [NEW] gauche-c-wrapper: ftbfs with GCC-5

2015-10-22 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/777861:

Package: src:gauche-c-wrapper
Version: 0.6.1-5
Severity: normal
Tags: sid stretch
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-5

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-5/g++-5, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.9/g++-4.9. The
severity of this report may be raised before the stretch release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc5-20150205/gauche-c-wrapper_0.6.1-5_unstable_gcc5.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 5, either set CC=gcc-5 CXX=g++-5 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++

Common build failures are C11 as the default C mode, new warnings
resulting in build failures with -Werror turned on, or new/dropped
symbols in Debian symbols files. For other C/C++ related build failures
see the porting guide at http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-5/porting_to.html

[Bug 1447654] Re: installing policykit-1 hangs under systemd

2015-10-22 Thread Martin Pitt
How does this affect policykit-1-gnome? You just added the task without
giving any explanation. Also, that package is structurally entirely
different from policykit-1 itself, so this can't possibly have a similar
problem. Hence, if you see a bug with pk-gnome, please file a separate
report about it. Thanks!

[Bug 1384532] Re: Poor error reporting when cd file not found.

2015-10-22 Thread Xiang Hui
Hi,

I have met exactly the same issue on Ubuntu vivid with OpenStack vms,

Failed message:
"unable to set AppArmor profile 'libvirt-b5de9738-608d-44df-99e7-596f907dcff2'
for '/usr/bin/kvm-spice': No such file or directory"

But actually the profile exists:
$ ll /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-b5de9738-608d-44df-99e7-596f907dcff2
libvirt-b5de9738-608d-44df-99e7-596f907dcff2
libvirt-b5de9738-608d-44df-99e7-596f907dcff2.files

$ ls -l /usr/bin/kvm-spice
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Sep 24 20:25 /usr/bin/kvm-spice -> kvm
$ ls -l /usr/bin/kvm
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 811 Oct 15 23:03 /usr/bin/kvm

I am not understanding what does 'It folder name contained chars: "- = {
}". After changing the folder name to "Windows Server 2012 R2", the vm
started.' mean how it work out the problem.

My vm is a cirros, it seems unrelated.

There are also other people hit this problem, but they figure it out
temporarily either by disable apparmor or by purge apparmor, please take
a look and point me a right solution, thanks a lot.

[Bug 1507982] Re: [regression] OTA7 broke previously working app

2015-10-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Annoyingly comment #9 may not work. If app developers rebuild with the
latest Mir (0.17) then the slightly older Mir 0.16.0 in OTA7 will also
reject their connections because they're now too new! This is again due
to the overly strict protocol range checking introduced in r2893.

[Bug 1458674] Re: hide scroll bar and menu bar in xfce drop-down terminal

2015-10-22 Thread Thaddaeus Tintenfisch
According to the manual page [1], you can create and use a separate
configuration file.

There is the possibility to disable the menubar with --hide-menubar
also. Sadly, a switch for the scrollbar does not exist yet [2].

[Bug 1507994] Re: Broadwell vaapi video decode broken by i915_bpo migration

Ok, then how to get mpv use vaapi? Trying 'mpv --hwdec=vaapi --vo
=opengl-hq' as suggested somewhere still results in software decoding
according to the debug output. Tried big buck bunny 1080p avi and 720p
ogg.
