[Bug 1412002] Re: can't start moc in Ubuntu 14.10

2015-11-03 Thread Tong Sun
Giving that `moc` is producing errors like this:

> $ moc
> moc: could not exec '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/moc': No such file or
> directory

is there anyone that actually use it?

I meant, can we use alternative or something that make moc works like
mocp? Saving you from explaining each time...

[Bug 1512510] Re: [SRU] [HWE] Backport gnu-efi 3.0.2 to 15.04

2015-11-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Mathieu, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnu-efi into vivid-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnu-
efi/3.0.2-1ubuntu1~15.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

  ---Problem Description---
System hang when process accounting to a NFSv4 mount.

  ---uname output---
  Linux ppc001 3.19.0-30-generic #34~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 2 22:21:52
  UTC 2015 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux

  ---Problem Details---

We have a customer that is experiencing intermittent system hangs on
their system. After a bit of debug, it was discovered that the trigger
was turning on process accounting and writing to a file hosted via an
NFSv4 mount. During the testing, several vmcores were captured, and the
fingerprint indicates a mutex deadlock situation with process
accounting. In the most recent vmcore, it appears that the scenario is
  something like the following:

  1. PID: 4898 COMMAND: "ls" triggers a write to the process accounting file.
  2. The resulting NFS write needs idmapd information and calls out to idmapd
  3. The idmapd usermodehelper process triggers another process accounting
update that blocks on the mutex being held by PID 4898.

[Bug 1509120] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2015-11-03 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From ru...@us.ibm.com 2015-11-03 20:56 EDT---
Thanks for chasing down the missing dependency side of the equation here.

That still leaves the potential of deadlock if the callout exec ever
returns non-zero for any other reason. Are the risks considered low
enough to simply document this as a potential hazard of writing process
accounting information across an NFSv4 mount?

[Bug 1512815] Re: read() from pty doesn't finish.

I built a Wily test kernel with a cherry pick of commit e81107d. The test
kernel can be downloaded from:

Can you test this kernel and see if it resolves this bug?

Note, you need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra

2015-11-03 Thread Corey Bryant
I've uploaded a new version of python-saharaclient to wily-proposed that
carries a patch to fix this issue. It's awaiting approval now before
landing in wily-proposed.

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
Running "openstack help" to display help (version 1.7.0) shows available
commands until it reaches commands for sahara:

- dataprocessing data source create Creates data source
- dataprocessing data source delete Delete data source
- dataprocessing data source list Lists data sources
- dataprocessing data source show Display data source details
+   dataprocessing data source create Creates data source
+   dataprocessing data source delete Delete data source
+   dataprocessing data source list Lists data sources
+   dataprocessing data source show Display data source details
  Could not load EntryPoint.parse('dataprocessing_data_source_update =
saharaclient.osc.v1.data_sources:UpdateDataSource')
'ArgumentParser' object has no attribute 'debug'
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ sudo apt-get install python-openstackclient python-saharaclient
+ openstack help
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ None. The entry point that is dropped in the fix doesn't point to an
+ existing class.

** Changed in: python-saharaclient (Ubuntu)
   Importance: High => Medium

** Changed in: python-saharaclient (Ubuntu)

Ok. Thank you for filing.
I am aware of the difference between Fedora and Ubuntu, so I agree the
comparison was not fair; don't take offence ;)
At this moment TIPC is not supported by RHEL, but we are working on that
too.

[Bug 1512603] Re: nut-monitor systemd service is absent in nut-client package since Ubuntu vivid

2015-11-03 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting.

I looked at the changelog for this package and found that it was removed
in 2.7.1-1ubuntu2 with the follwing message:

  * Disable systemd unit; it does not check nut.conf whether nut is
configured, and thus fails to start (and the package install). The init.d
script works well enough for the time being. (LP: #1313231)

See also bug 1313231 for more information.

Checking with Debian, it looks like they first included the same change
as Ubuntu but then reverted them again. There's a longer discussion in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=747863 and it looks
like they might have fixed it, but I've only skimmed that one.

[Bug 1512510] Re: [SRU] [HWE] Backport gnu-efi 3.0.2 to 15.04

2015-11-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
sbsigntool and shim were also tested separately after rebuild; I used
the code being built for vivid, installed on xenial, used sbsigntool to
sign the shim image (and an EFI shell image), after adding my local key
I was able to boot both images successfully with SecureBoot enabled. The
shim image obviously also works if SecureBoot isn't enabled.

- urdfdom-headers is a hedare only package and we are not altering the ABI/API

in the released code, that should minimize the possible regressions introduced
by the patch. The computation of angles is already broken, so a possible bug in
the new computation will not bring a worse state than current one.

[Bug 940539] Re: libvirt deletes VM configuration file after editing uuid

2015-11-03 Thread Chris J Arges
I was unable to reproduce this on Xenial/Wily. I edited the UUID and had
to also edit the name. This creates an additional domain with the new
name and UUID. If this bug still affects you please re-open with the
affected version. Thanks

[Bug 1512510] Re: [SRU] [HWE] Backport gnu-efi 3.0.2 to 15.04

2015-11-03 Thread Steve Langasek
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Shipping fwupdate in 15.04 (hardware enablement tool; a firmware updater
tool) requires the use of gnu-efi >= 3.0.2.

  [Test Case]
- - Attempt to build fwupdate in 15.04.
-
- Without gnu-efi >= 3.0.2, the build will fail to complete.
+ 1) Attempt to build fwupdate in 15.04.
+Without gnu-efi >= 3.0.2, the build will fail to complete.
+ 2) build shim and sbsigntool in 15.04.
+ 3) verify that shim and sbsigntool run correctly when rebuilt against gnu-efi
3.0.2.

  [Regression Potential]
Limited to EFI installations. Issues in efivar may incur specific failures at
handling EFI variables; or when trying to build EFI images (which may show as
unexpected behavior in these images).

However, gnu-efi 3.0.2 is already shipping in 15.10 and has not been
  causing issues.

[Bug 1512180] Re: [datetime] Standard alarms are not work correctly for Timers, after timezone/DST change

2015-11-03 Thread Pat McGowan
Not sure I understand why this is not just an issue fr the timer app.
Alarms want to be interpreted in local time, I am sure this is as
designed. Timers are not really alarms as they reflect a duration not a
time of day. For me the issue is the timer app implemented timers
incorrectly.

[Bug 1512902] [NEW] apport will create .upload files for incomplete or corrupt crash reports

2015-11-03 Thread Brian Murray
Public bug reported:

apport will set an an UnreportableReason in the following situations for
crash reports where information collection fails or for packages that do
not exist. From apport/ui.py:

1036 try:
1037 icthread.exc_raise()
1038 except (IOError, EOFError, zlib.error) as e:
1039 # can happen with broken core dumps
1040 self.report['UnreportableReason'] = '%s\n\n%s' % (
1041 _('This problem report is damaged and cannot be
processed.'),
1042 repr(e))
1043 except ValueError: # package does not exist
1044 self.report['UnreportableReason'] = _('The report
belongs to a package that is not installed.')
1045 except Exception as e:
1046 apport.error(repr(e))
1047 self.report['UnreportableReason'] = _('An error
occurred while attempting to '
1048 'process this
problem report:') + '\n\n' + str(e)

Because an UnreportableReason exists in the report, apport will stop
collecting infromation. Subsequently, there is no "_MarkForUpload"
information in the report so apport calls mark_report_upload which
creates a .upload file such that the report which is incomplete or
corrupt is then uploaded to the Error Tracker.

In these cases the "_MarkForUpload" key should be set to "False" thereby
preventing uploads to the Error Tracker.

I get this error on my new Toshiba P50t-C-104, with kernel 4.3. No
monitors attached, just the default laptop screen. I get a black screen
after this message on boot. The only way to boot is to use the
'nomodeset' kernel parameter, but that dissables the intel graphics
card.

[Bug 1512257] Re: Photos made with back camera sometimes are unavailable in gallery

2015-11-03 Thread Michi Henning
I can reproduce this with rc-proposed build 278 on Mako. I'm seeing the
same thing as Pawel, with the gallery app showing nothing (just white
background) where a thumbnail should be.

To reproduce, start out with a clean cache (thumbnailer-admin clear) and
an empty photo roll, and with neither gallery nor camera running.

Take twenty pictures with the camera.

Start the gallery app from the launcher. For me everything works fine at
this point, thumbnails show up as expected.

Go back to the camera app (via launcher). Take ten more shots.

Go back to the gallery (via launcher). At this point, the gallery app
showed the problem briefly and then crashed, so I re-started the app.
After doing that, it showed the thumbnails correctly.

Go back to the camera app, take ten more pictures, back to gallery-app,
etc. Eventually, the problem will show up (if the gallery app doesn't
crash).

I have verified from the thumbnailer trace that, each time I return to
the gallery app, the app asks for thumbnails for the newly-added images
(plus a bunch of others), and the thumbnailer correctly returns those.

So, this very much looks like a gallery app problem, not a thumbnailer
one.

Setting to "triaged" for thumbnailer so we can track it.

[Bug 1440388] Re: please port ubuntu-system-service to Python3

2015-11-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-system-service - 0.3

---
ubuntu-system-service (0.3) xenial; urgency=medium

  [ Didier Roche ]
  * bump upstream version to 0.3
  * port tests and binaries to python3 (LP: #1440388)
  * Keep some python2 build-deps to get the package built.
  * Bump Standards-Version to latest

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * debian/rules: Only build/install for the default python3, not for all
supported versions. This is only a private module, the interface is D-Bus.

[Bug 1503305] Re: iLab: power kvm client after svc node reboot error inject test, multipath output show missing path and missing storage name

2015-11-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ Users of multipath will see incomplete output for the vendor and model values
for devices where the first path is the path that is failed.
+
+ [Test Cases]
+ 1) Experience a failed path:
+ echo 1 > /sys/devices//delete
+ (the above is an example for forcibly removing a path for SCSI via the /sys
filesystem)
+ 2) run: sudo multipath -ll
+ 3) Verify the output, see below.
+
+ Storage name (vendor and model usually) should always be displayed after
+ dm-* on the header line for a multipath device.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ This is limited to output and is thus purely a cosmetic fix. Possible issues
leading from that fix would include crashes due to an incorrect patch or the
output for vendor/model info for the device to still be incorrect.

Re: [Bug 1479805] Re: /etc/bash_command_not_found is utterly broken

2015-11-03 Thread CarstenHey
* Mathew Hodson [2015-11-03 20:09 -]:
> ** Changed in: command-not-found (Ubuntu)
>Importance: Undecided => Medium

'Medium' might be too high (if anybody cares if it is low or medium):

I wrote in my initial mail:
| I don't use Ubuntu, but I assume that the file bash_command_not_found
| in the bzr repository is installed to /etc

Looks like this assumption was wrong:

:
| You have searched for paths that end with _command_not_found in suite xenial,
all sections, and all architectures. Found 1 results.
|
| FilePackages
| /etc/zsh_command_not_found command-not-found
|

Hence, the actual bug only affects upstream, but not the Ubuntu package,
but Ubuntu would benefit from the minor zsh improvements.

Shipping (a fixed) bash_command_not_found in the source package and
providing it in the upstream repository is still useful, for example,
a sysadmin might disable command-not-found in the system wide
bash.bashrc and source /etc/bash_command_not_found if it exists in the
skeleton .bashrc.

[Bug 1400460] Re: slingshot won't lauch (unable to read font filename)

2015-11-03 Thread alstein
Problem is the broken symlink:
/usr/share/games/slingshot/data/FreeSansBold.ttf ->
../../../pyshared/pygame/freesansbold.ttf (probably it is pygame
modification that caused this regression).

As a temporary workaround it is possible to install fonts-freefont-ttf package
and replace the symlink:
sudo apt-get install fonts-freefont-ttf
sudo rm -f /usr/share/games/slingshot/data/FreeSansBold.ttf
sudo ln -s /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSansBold.ttf
/usr/share/games/slingshot/data/FreeSansBold.ttf

[Bug 1512919] [NEW] `dpkg --configure initramfs-tools` fails

2015-11-03 Thread Michael Abrahams
Public bug reported:

I encountered a problem trying to install 4.3 kernel on Wily. (This is
not the bug I'm reporting.) http://pastebin.com/Lp6ZgWV0

Investigating the complaint that initramfs-tools was not configured, I tried
the command listed in the summary.

> dpkg --configure initramfs-tools

The result was this. http://pastebin.com/X2Bg4YWs

The line "ln: error: /proc/mounts: file is empty" seemed very strange,
because /proc/mounts is a symlink to /proc/self/mounts, which is not
empty.

The error occurs even after purging all the 4.3 kernels, uninstalling
all microcode and proprietary drivers. Note the error is encountered
when processing the 4.2 kernel, not 4.3.

Description:Ubuntu 15.10

[Bug 1512593] Re: :Ubuntu NV: Panic timeout=0 means Ubuntu does not reboot and recover from HMI (e.g. Core Unit Checkstop)

2015-11-03 Thread Chris J Arges
This is not a bug with our kernel config. Perhaps changing the userspace tool
to check for this behavior and setting the sysctl value to the desired value
may be possible.
Marking as Invalid for now, please feel free to reopen if you feel this is
still an issue.
Thanks!

[Bug 1512899] [NEW] Installer does not warn the user that formatting swap will take a long time, after the user makes a new user.

2015-11-03 Thread Abram Hindle
Public bug reported:

When I was installed 15.10 Wiley there was no warning given via the
graphical installer (started from the desktop) that after I had created
a new user (password + home dir settings) that it was going to format my
swap partitions with dd. This took a while as they are pretty large. I
only discovered what had hung the installer by running a terminal and
watching what processes ubiquity had spawned.

The installer should inform the user that it is doing this, why it is
currently "hung", and perhaps if possible give a progress bar.
Regardless just hanging after account creation leaves the user uneasy
about the success of installation.
