[Bug 1530953] Re: Support GRUB's native root=ZFS=

2016-01-04 Thread Richard Laager
** Description changed:

Upstream GRUB sets root=ZFS=rpool/path/to/rootfs by default. By
supporting that syntax (while retaining the existing support for
backwards compatibility), we can work out-of-the-box.

I've attached a patch for zfs-initramfs to implement this. Note that
since this is creating a new file in the debian/directory, you have to
apply this patch to the packaging, not put the file in debian/patches/.
If you put the file in debian/patches, debuild will choke.

The patch has two parts. One, creating conf.d/zfs to set BOOT=zfs. This
avoids the need to set boot=zfs on the Linux command-line in the GRUB
configuration. The second part is a set of changes to scripts/zfs which
grabs the ZFS= part from root= and stores that into ZFS_BOOTFS and
  ZFS_RPOOL.

[Bug 1500717] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2016-01-04 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From gpicc...@br.ibm.com 2016-01-04 19:42 EDT---
After talking to Nasir via email, we tried to reproduce this issue in many
adapters, without success. It's pretty probable that this issue happened only
in some few problematic adapters, and since we did a firmware update on those,
we can't reproduce again - the fw update process solves the issue, no matter
which fw level is used.

So, will close as non-reproducible. If ever reproduced, I can re-open or
talk to QLogic to advise.

Thanks,

Guilherme

[Bug 1529356] Re: Bluetooth does not discover any device

2016-01-04 Thread smallwill
Hello Jeremy,
Following your recommendation I updated to linux kernel 3.19.0-26.28
using :
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.19.0-26 linux-headers-3.19.0-26-generic
linux-image-extra-3.19.0-26-generic --fix-missing

After a bluetooth it discovers the devices, displaying the names correctly only
for my phone (one plus one).
But I can't pair to any device.
I tried to reinstall bluetooth drivers using :

sudo apt-get install --reinstall bluez bluez-alsa bluez-audio bluez-
btsco bluez-compat bluez-cups bluez-dbg bluez-gstreamer bluez-hcidump
bluez-pcmcia-support bluez-tools bluez-utils python-bluez bluewho
indicator-bluetooth libbluetooth-dev libgnome-bluetooth11 libbluetooth3
python-gobject python-dbus

I tried with and without ppa:hanipouspilot/rtlwifi linux-firmware
package. But still unable to pair.

[Bug 1529232] Re: Scanner not detected over wifi since after 3.13.0-68

2016-01-04 Thread Lucas Partridge
@penalvch: I've never tested an upstream kernel before so thanks for the
instructions! I'm nervous about ruining my system, so please can you
confirm my understanding is correct before I go ahead with this:

1) I've downloaded these files into their own folder:
linux-headers-4.4.0-040400rc7_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_all.deb
linux-headers-4.4.0-040400rc7-generic_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_amd64.deb
linux-image-4.4.0-040400rc7-generic_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_amd64.deb

2) If I run 'sudo dpkg -i *.deb' in that folder in a terminal I should
get a new entry in my GRUB menu.

3) I can then attempt to boot into that kernel from GRUB at boot time
(and run scangearmp to see if it detects the scanner).

4) If the OS fails to boot for whatever reason I can simply reboot my PC
and choose my original kernel from GRUB (i.e., 3.13.0-74-generic). Is
it true that my system will be unharmed so long as I don't boot into the
upstream kernel? If you can't be 99-100% sure about this I'll have to
buy an external drive and clone my drive to it; which will take some
days...

Thanks.

[Bug 1529077] Re: USB device resets since kernel version 3.13.0-73-generic #116-Ubuntu

2016-01-04 Thread Markus Heinz
I have tested with the following kernel:

Linux computer4 4.4.0-040400rc7-generic #201512272230 SMP Mon Dec 28
03:32:16 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The behaviour is the same as with Linux computer4 3.13.0-74-generic
#118-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 17 22:52:10 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
GNU/Linux

This means the problem persists.

Relevant lines from the syslog with the rc kernel:

Jan 4 19:14:57 computer4 kernel: [ 219.001128] usb 3-1: reset high-speed USB
device number 2 using xhci_hcd
Jan  4 19:17:01 computer4 CRON[2640]: (root) CMD (   cd / && run-parts --report
/etc/cron.hourly)
Jan 4 19:27:38 computer4 dbus[868]: [system] Activating service
name='org.freedesktop.hostname1' (using servicehelper)
Jan 4 19:27:38 computer4 dbus[868]: [system] Successfully activated service
'org.freedesktop.hostname1'
Jan 4 19:29:10 computer4 kernel: [ 1071.599601] usb 3-1: reset high-speed USB
device number 2 using xhci_hcd

More precise description of the problem (for both the distribution
kernel and 4.4.0-rc7):

If I start the CD player application with no disc inserted, it does not
hang. But when I then insert a disc, it hangs for approximately 30
seconds and the disc is not detected at all.

If I start the CD player application with the same disc inserted, it
hangs for approximately 30 seconds and then the disc is detected.

Once the disc has been detected it can be played normally by the CD
player application.

[Bug 1518457] Re: kswapd0 100% CPU usage

2016-01-04 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I built the next test kernel, up to the following commit:
d7876f1be40a16223a44355740de625849504eb5

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1518457

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1530591] Re: Frequent crash after graphical corruption

2016-01-04 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.4 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

It looks like upower should be handling this; it has triggers for
hibernation / power off at configured battery percentage.

I'll see if I can figure out why that's not kicking in.

[Bug 1529146] Re: btrfs balance leads to kernel panic

2016-01-04 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? This
will help determine if the problem you are seeing is the result of a
regression, and when this regression was introduced. If this is a
regression, we can perform a kernel bisect to identify the commit that
introduced the problem.
