[Bug 1530953] Re: Support GRUB's native root=ZFS=
** Description changed: Upstream GRUB sets root=ZFS=rpool/path/to/rootfs by default. By supporting that syntax (while retaining the existing support for backwards compatibility), we can work out-of-the-box. I've attached a patch for zfs-initramfs to implement this. Note that since this is creating a new file in the debian/directory, you have to apply this patch to the packaging, not put the file in debian/patches/. If you put the file in debian/patches, debuild will choke. The patch has two parts. One, creating conf.d/zfs to set BOOT=zfs. This avoids the need to set boot=zfs on the Linux command-line in the GRUB configuration. The second part is a set of changes to scripts/zfs which grabs the ZFS= part from root= and stores that into ZFS_BOOTFS and ZFS_RPOOL. - Submitted upstream a year ago as: https://github.com/zfsonlinux/pkg- - zfs/pull/140 + Submitted upstream a year ago as: + https://github.com/zfsonlinux/pkg-zfs/pull/140 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530953 Title: Support GRUB's native root=ZFS= To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-initramfs/+bug/1530953/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From gpicc...@br.ibm.com 2016-01-04 19:42 EDT--- After talking to Nasir via email, we tried to reproduce this issue in many adapters, without success. It's pretty probable that this issue happened only in some few problematic adapters, and since we did a firmware update on those, we can't reproduce again - the fw update process solves the issue, no matter which fw level is used. So, will close as non-reproducible. If ever reproduced, I can re-open or talk to QLogic to advise. Hello Jeremy, Following your recommendation I updated to linux kernel 3.19.0-26.28 using : sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.19.0-26 linux-headers-3.19.0-26-generic linux-image-extra-3.19.0-26-generic --fix-missing After a bluetooth it discovers the devices, displaying the names correctly only for my phone (one plus one). [Bug 1529232] Re: Scanner not detected over wifi since after 3.13.0-68
@penalvch: I've never tested an upstream kernel before so thanks for the instructions! I'm nervous about ruining my system, so please can you confirm my understanding is correct before I go ahead with this: 1) I've downloaded these files into their own folder: linux-headers-4.4.0-040400rc7_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_all.deb linux-headers-4.4.0-040400rc7-generic_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_amd64.deb linux-image-4.4.0-040400rc7-generic_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_amd64.deb 2) If I run 'sudo dpkg -i *.deb' in that folder in a terminal I should get a new entry in my GRUB menu. 3) I can then attempt to boot into that kernel from GRUB at boot time (and run scangearmp to see if it detects the scanner). 4) If the OS fails to boot for whatever reason I can simply reboot my PC and choose my original kernel from GRUB (i.e., 3.13.0-74-generic). Is it true that my system will be unharmed so long as I don't boot into the upstream kernel? If you can't be 99-100% sure about this I'll have to buy an external drive and clone my drive to it; which will take some days...
