[Bug 1532655] [NEW] Should disable concurrent extraction only on touch, not for Arm in general
Public bug reported: Currently, we are setting max-extractions to 1 on Arm, even when not running on the phone. This means that, on a Chromebook, for example, where we use software codecs, we are not using three idle CPUs. It would be nice to do this only on when running on touch, instead of for both touch and desktop on Arm. Fixing this involves working out whether we are running on touch, for which no API currently exists. [Bug 1532659] [NEW] vmhgfs kernel module missing entirely on trusty
Public bug reported: I uninstalled the old vmware tools and did `sudo apt-get install open- vm-tools`. After a reboot, `modprobe vmhgfs` fails with `modprobe: FATAL: Module vmhgfs not found.`. Mounting also fails: `mount -t vmhgfs .host:/ /mnt/hgfs/` fails with `Error: cannot mount filesystem: No such device` (/mnt/hgfs was previously created as a plain empty directory). Installing open-vm-dkms and open-vm-tools-dkms does not help. I'm running Trusty Tahr (Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS) in the server (no-GUI) configuration, and kernel version "3.16.0-57-generic #77~14.04.1-Ubuntu". The version of open-vm-tools I have is 9.4.0-1280544-5ubuntu6.2 (the latest). Shared folder support is, in short, completely broken right now on trusty. [Bug 1531766] Re: krunner dies when second monitor is attached, before startup of machine
Please don't feel refused, but I really don't think this has to do with packaging. Especially then you could add yourself to the mentioned bug- report on KDE. For two reasons: - draw more attention on this bug - given the opportunity you can grant valuable debug information, it may help to resolve it with faster speed. Hence I'm not in the position to justify about the priorities that developers have, having said so I'm not even aware if it will be fixed in a newer version of Kubuntu (aka Development-Release 16.04). And I've definetly justified my expectations in regards to getting fixes in STS- releases with a lifecycle of just 9 month. Whereas I would think this needed a mentioning in Release-Notes, as this should not simply be bypassed and left aside since evermore users have a multi-monitor setuo- environment - though the dev doesn't. Maybe we should poke him that this is even possible within a testing environment VirtualBox? :-) It's also an unreveilled secret (but true) that the underlying Qt- Version has great influence on this. So personally I'm looking for the landing of Qt-5.6 in Xenial 16.04. If needed I can pass on more information on this. Wily has just disqualiyfied at this early stage of swapping from KDE4 to KDE5 with multi-monitor setup env. But it doesn't exlude testing & bug-reporting. I could not dare to have the my laptop in the Docking-Station in an unreliable condition - so I stayed there with 14.04. It's not perfect but sufficient. And since it's older HW I need to run it in OpenGLES. LTS-Versions are ALWAYS the one+only recommondation for production- environment. After years of being a Kubuntu-USER (with all ups & downs), I've come to the conclusion that the greatest efforts are achieved if U take part in early testing-LTS+1. If possible, things can be patched backwards or SRU-ed then. -> (bug #1531499 - Backport request SDDM 0.13 (needs some more sorting out b4fore it can happen) This seems to be the package in question, since thats the stage where it happens, for my thinking. Having written quite more than what belongs in a bug-report - since I felt it's fair to share on certain items of "frustration" in bug-reports too - Coming to a conclusion : Dev' are not the most communicative people - solutions maybe having background activities -which are not visible - (not even communicated) AND they have to "household" their level of energy like anybody else - apart from the fact that we all put in a certain amount of leisure-time to keep the FOSS - ideals running. search-item: https://bugs.kde.org/component- report.cgi?product=plasmashell This bugreport could also reference: (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355582) P.S.: with reference to your LP-profile - With a certain love to sailing it would justfy smooth seas as boring | ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #355582 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355582 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531766 Title: krunner dies when second monitor is attached, before startup of machine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-workspace/+bug/1531766/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1524098] Re: Problems with graphics video streaming
John Neufeld, as per http://support.hp.com/us- en/drivers/selfservice/hp-110-500-desktop-pc- series/7450567/model/7748407#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930C7 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (80.08). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-80.08 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1524098 Title: Problems with graphics video streaming To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1524098/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1532663] [NEW] no debug from sub-scripts
Public bug reported: Kernel boot parameter "debug=1" produces detailed console / log- file output tracing script execution. No details are provided for the execution of sub-scripts which are run in new shells. For instance, with "debug=1" on the kernel boot command line, there are details of variable expansions tracing execution of "casper" as it calls "run_scripts" to process the "casper-premount" directory, right up to the point where it runs "/scripts/casper-premount/ORDER". It uses the shell "source" command to run ORDER, so you see some indication that there is a line in ORDER that says "/scripts/casper-premount/20iso- scan", but since this line is running iso-scan as a command, instead of running it with a "source" command, it is being run in a new shell, and the "set -x" that "init" executed as a result of the "debug=1" parameter is lost, so there are no debug messages during the execution of 20iso- scan. I realize this extends beyond casper, but I think the only safe fix will involve adding code to every sub-script to reassert "set -x" if the kernel was given a "debug" parameter. [Bug 1532655] Re: Should disable concurrent extraction only on touch, not for Arm in general
Tried with 4 concurrent vs-thumb processes on my Chromebook. Turns out that there, I see 4 vs-thumb processes during the stress test, but they all hang (without consuming CPU) after a split second. Eventually, we time out and get a bunch of errors. Marking this as "won't fix" for the time being. If the gstreamer codecs won't work concurrently, there is nothing we can do. ** Changed in: thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1532655 Title: Should disable concurrent extraction only on touch, not for Arm in general To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thumbnailer/+bug/1532655/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1457078] Re: L2TP client support for PSK removed from 15.04/15.10
Finally got it to work after hours of fiddling. l2tp connection with psk and xauth, configured via conffiles. Ubuntu 15.10, strongswan 5.1.2-0ubuntu6.2 Had to remove package xl2tpd (1.3.6+dfsg-3) - crashed with segfault every time while trying to connect. Manually installed openl2tp_1.8-1_amd64.deb from: ftp://ftp.openl2tp.org/releases/openl2tp-1.8/debian-squeeze/openl2tp_1.8-1_amd64.deb Work much better than my last attempt on 14.04 (openswan+pluto+openl2tp) I have to start the connection manually (will write a short script for it, but for now it's OK) Will post my conffiles if someone will be interested in ;-) But it will be great to have a network-manager plugin to manage such a connection. I wonder have I really been so damn lucky not to have single hang with 4.1.13 since November. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531865 Title: 4.2 (linux-generic-lts-wily) kernel hangs on Bay Trail based Asus X553MA To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1531865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1488909] Re: package kaccounts-providers (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/accounts/providers/google.provider', which is also in package account-plugin-go

I hope I'm not left with a broken package manager for 4 months. [Bug 1528321] Re: Everything hangs when coming out of fullscreen in chrome
@penalvch If what is installed? Now that I'm not so tired, I can give some extra information. I tried it with a clean xenial daily build, in which I installed chrome and then tested it. It was probably an unfair test though, as chrome was pretty unusable due to some serious graphical glitches. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528321 Title: Everything hangs when coming out of fullscreen in chrome To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1528321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
