2016-02-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Yes, quite close. I'll handle the FFE if needed but I feel on-track.
I'm preparing the merge debdiff for review.

[Bug 1544612] Re: Missing fix for 1299975 claimed to be in pm-utils (1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1)

2016-02-13 Thread Dirk F
Actually, this is more tricky than I thought. The validity of the bug
1299975 patch depends on which wireless driver is in use, apparently
reflecting some crufty aspects of sysfs and its driver implementations.

In bug 1299975, on rereading, the reporter (savage) says that with an
Intel wireless device the virtual file presented in
/sys/class/net/$device/device was named "enabled" whereas the script
/usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless referenced "enable".

Whereas I observe that, if present, the virtual file presented in
/sys/class/net/$device/device is named "enable", just as in the
directory listing in comment #3.

In a Toshiba Tecra 8200 with wlan1 identified as Qualcomm Atheros
ARS212/5213/2414 (driver "ath5k"), it's present as "enable".

In a Dell Inspiron 1721 with wlan0 identified as Broadcom Corporation
BCM4321 (driver "b43-pci-bridge"), it's not present at all in
/sys/class/net/$device/device, but there is a corresponding
/sys/bus/pci/drivers/b43-pci-bridge/:0b:00.0/enable (and writing 0
to this file disables the driver). However the test in the wireless
script assumes that the device is disabled if the
/sys/class/net/$device/device/enable* file doesn't exist, so the script
fails in this case.

Presumably

a) the presence of the /sys/class/net/$device/device/enable* file
depends on whether the ability to disable the device via
/sys/class/net/$device/device is supported by the device+driver
combination,

b) if the file is present its exact name depends on some details of the
driver's sysfs interface and installation procedure, but it is either
"enable" or "enabled" (and both are never present together), and

c) if the file is not present the wireless script should assume the
device is enabled.

If these assumptions are valid, the following might be a better bet for
lines 22-23 of /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless:

# Assume device is disabled if enable or enabled file exists containing 0;
then skip
[ -f /sys/class/net/$1/device/enable* ] && [ "$(cat
/sys/class/net/$1/device/enable*)" = "0" ] && return 1

Obviously there are multiline options that could be more precise.

Ah, yes. I've a fix for that; I hadn't pushed my latest update in to the
ppa. The extra-plugins package need some more privs for the charon binary
in the apparmor profile.

Look for 1ubuntu5 in the ppa in just a bit and see if that fixes up the
issue with the extras plugins.

[Bug 1535951] Re: Please merge strongswan 5.3.5-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-02-13 Thread mrq1
great! starts now :-)

what about the chapoly plugin? can you enable it in the extra package?
it would be very important for me!

btw: the output of service looks strange to me

# service strongswan status
● strongswan.service - strongSwan IPsec services
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/strongswan.service; enabled; vendor
preset: enabled)
Active: inactive (dead) since Sat 2016-02-13 19:22:46 CET; 42s ago
  Process: 25807 ExecStopPost=/bin/rm -f /var/run/charon.pid
/var/run/starter.charon.pid (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
  Process: 25789 ExecStop=/usr/sbin/ipsec stop (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
 Main PID: 25643 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)

looks like the service is not running anymore but via
# ipsec statusall
everything looks ok

is the some systemd-integration-magic missing?

thanks!

Marking as invalid, because xenial contains a much newer release of

[Bug 1539548] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: not possible to install qemu-system-common

2016-02-13 Thread Steve Langasek
I cannot reproduce this problem. The initscripts package, which
provides mountkernfs, is a dependency of the init system, so it is
always present. Is there a problem with the /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh
file on your system? If it's present, please attach it to this bug.

[Bug 1532607] Re: Phone not usable while a call comes in - followed by "restart"

2016-02-13 Thread Uranicus
Dear developers!

Thanks for the great work done to fix this issue!

Seeing that this bug (maybe also the reporting of it?) has caused some
troubles I would appreciate a feedback what needs to be improved in the
future bug reporting to get directly to the point where you can fix it.
If there is something to be improved please let me (and others) know
what we "users" can do different to ease your job.

[Bug 1454843] Re: 10ec:b723 Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection

2016-02-13 Thread marco.pallotta
@Vincenzo maybe it's a workaround or maybe realtek module is for many devices
and for just rtl7323be the installer should insert in modprobe dir just the
options I wrote.
In one forum I have read something similar but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

After a while I tried installing the 4.2 kernel and go the same result.
I had posted this on Ask Ubuntu orinally and was pointed here. My
original post is at:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/732248/14-04-latest-3-19-kernel-causes-
kernel-panick-3-19-0-49-generic/732613#732613

I didn't use the ubuntu-bug linux command because that would report on
my existing working kernel rather than the new one. For the time being I
just have to manually select older kernels.

[Bug 1541079] Re: mp4 video not displaying after ota-9 update

2016-02-13 Thread Michael Devenish
I've run avprobe on the videos that are not displaying and notice the
following warnings:

[mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 0x1315320] multiple edit list entries, a/v
desync might occur, patch welcome

If I use a later version of HandBrake (0.10.3) to convert the videos, I
don't get the warnings with avprobe and the videos display ok on my BQ
4.5 (the originals were created using HandBrake 0.10.0 according to
avprobe). The output from avprobe for the non-displaying and the
displaying videos are shown below.

After a while I tried installing the 4.2 kernel and go the same result.
I had posted this on Ask Ubuntu orinally and was pointed here. My
  original post is at:
  https://askubuntu.com/questions/732248/14-04-latest-3-19-kernel-causes-
  kernel-panick-3-19-0-49-generic/732613#732613

I didn't use the ubuntu-bug linux command because that would report on
my existing working kernel rather than the new one. For the time being I
just have to manually select older kernels.

[Bug 1243642] Re: .Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start

2016-02-13 Thread HaraldK
Reading the bugzilla bug linked in #16, we are asked to not use gnome if
we want to be able to tweak one or the other key on our keyboard,
because they are not able to build a working UI on top of xmodmap. At
least this is what I read from it.

[Bug 1545266] [NEW] screen brightness slider has no effect

2016-02-13 Thread Kevin Leeds
Public bug reported:

Trusty Tahr 14.04 LTS, seems to be fully updated

f.lux also has no effect.

Also when i try to do
 sudo echo 50 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
then it says 'bash: brightness: permission denied'.
(From this page: http://pastebin.com/HzzHrS2g).

I would love to help provide some more help on my dual monitor setup.
I found this documentation: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution
It says I should run $gnome-display-properties. Seems to be out of date.
gnome-display-properties: command not found

I guess it would be annoying to say it's a security vulnerability
although if my screen isn't dim someone could more easily look through
the window and see what I am typing on the screen.

[Bug 1545272] [NEW] reboot fails with "Failed to start reboot.target: Transaction is destructive."

2016-02-13 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

`sudo reboot` fails with

Failed to start reboot.target: Transaction is destructive.

Broadcast message from richter@richter-lenovo-IdeaPad-U410 on pts/1
(Sa 2016-02-13 13:36:30 CET):

The system is going down for reboot NOW!

which seems to be caused by an incomplete suspend as stated in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1441253 which
isn't a duplicate because the reason seem to be a btrfs issue there
which I don't suffer from.

I'd suggest to let the suspend time out, provide the user with the
information that a suspend is pending and might timeout or succeed (or
something similar, more useful than "Failed to start reboot.target:
Transaction is destructive.") so that reboot is possible again after
some time.

The issue should be fixed in the kernel as well, it makes sense as well
to handle this situation in `systemd` because assuming that the kernel
is always stable is naive and adding such a timeout improves stability
and better feedback usage.

[Bug 1542021] Re: ibtinyxml2.6.2v5 replaces libtinyxml2.6.2, but doesn't provide it

2016-02-13 Thread Michael
** Description changed:

Some packages references libtinyxml2.6.2. libtinyxml2.6.2v5 replaces it,
but doesn't provide it. So no program which depends on libtinyxml2.6.2
- can be installed anymore...
+ can be installed anymore... One example are ros packages.

2016-02-13 Thread Londé Ngosso
Just found in my logs with this command and still the same errors
dmesg|grep ERROR

[ 372.223326] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU

The first error occurs always at the start of the laptop.
The second error occurs sometimes not always when i unplugged the hdmi cable
connected to my tv.

For the functionalities, i suppose everything works fine on my laptop
with the linux kernel 4.5 RC3.

That command would need to be changed to e.g.:

sudo sh -c 'echo 50 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness'

Did you see these pages in the official documentation:

[Bug 1464917] Re: reboot hangs at 'Reached target Shutdown'

2016-02-13 Thread Alex
@xtrchessreal I just tried a variant of what you said (I deleted
everything except the most recent kernel, and didn't keep the second
most latest) and it fixed it. I am now able to reboot without having
this bug any more.

[Bug 1545286] Re: [regression] ubuntu-pd instability

2016-02-13 Thread kevin gunn
** Description changed:

Not sure what change - I know I tested ubuntu-pd, specifically
connecting/disconnecting hdmi and using OSK as part of the landing of
mir0.19.2, maybe it was a bit of a race with the qtmir/unity8 landings.

  stable phone overlay ppa says
  mir 0.19.2 published Feb 11
  qtmir Feb 9
  unity8 Feb 9
  u-s-c Feb 5

  At the moment I see
  1) the OSK won't popup on the n4-screen-as-trackpad
   2) whatever is focused app while connected to hdmi, if you hold the phone in
portrait mode and unplug - the app will not fill the whole screen or resize
properly
   as an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pehRcVwXnE
  and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z3MFseEBDc
   3) specifically i saw the dash become totally weird (wrong size assets and
all jumbled) after #2 (only saw this once, haven't been able to repro)
  4) shell seemed to freeze then crash, i could interact with app...but lost
launcher and app switcher (also only saw once, but got the file)

one more note: i kind of wonder if this is related to rotation

[Bug 1545262] Re: The Wine in newer Ubuntu releases is really outdated

2016-02-13 Thread dino99
you need to understand that 'wine' is a third project; not a
ubuntu/debian one.

** Changed in: wine1.6 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Invalid
