2016-04-30 Thread jose

doesnt work anymore when I upgraded to 16.04.

[Bug 1575467] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 consistently freezes up / hangs

2016-04-30 Thread Terry Coles
I appear to have the same problem with my Dell Optiplex desktop machine
and my Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition. The XPS is brand new and has been
updated to the latest BIOS version. The Optiplex has a somewhat aged
BIOS, but I've never seen any problems until now.

Both machines have been updated by doing a clean install of 16.04;
Kubuntu on this machine and Ubuntu on the XPS.

One thing that I've discovered is that the machine can be pinged when
it's down, but otherwise the symptoms are identical to those reported
above. Entering coredumpctl returns 'No coredumps found'.

The problem has been observed when I am typing, moving the mouse,
reading text or simply doing nothing.

[Bug 1568258] Re: Notification-Helper: Request install Flash, but already installed

2016-04-30 Thread Valdo
Hi all,

looks like being the same issue on my end. In my case, this is a fresh
install of Kubuntu 16.04 LTS. "QApt Batch Installer" offers me to
install a "Flash" package for Firefox (I could figure out recently this
is actually flashplugin-installer), but systematically fails, without
any details available in the GUI. Fed up receiving this installation
suggestion again and again, I ended up installing flashplugin-installer
manually, which succeeded, replacing btw 2 other packages that were
already installed automatically on my machine: adobe-flash-properties-
gtk / adobe-flashplugin. I can provide additional information if needed
to troubleshoot this issue.

[Bug 842693] Re: Touchpad gesture not customizable or cannot turn off all or selected gestures

2016-04-30 Thread Heinz
I perfectly agree with noob saibots post. I am trying to get individual
multiple finger gestures on 16.04 for several hours now without success. And
this repeats everytime I switch to the new LTS-Version...
I really like ubuntu but this is a major issue in working experience that
lets me think about changing the distro after all...

[Bug 1562093] Re: [Dell Inc. XPS 13 9350] hibernate/resume failure

2016-04-30 Thread Dave Roberts
I have the same problem, using the 16.04 Ubuntu release build, with
latest updates. Kernel is 4.4.0-21-generic AMD64. Dell XPS13 9350, with
1.0.4 firmware, Intel i5-6200U, 4GB RAM, 6GB Swap.

Suspend/Resume works fine. The hibernate seems to stop towards the end
of the process, just before it powers down. Screen is blank, keyboard
backlight goes out, etc. It doesn't get over that final hurdle.

[Bug 1533258] Re: Selecting grub entries (efi) at boot time leads to "error: symbol 'grub_efi_find_last_device_path' not found"

2016-04-30 Thread Aydin K.
Am having the same issue (dual boot, win10 and linux mint based on ubuntu
14.04).
Linux boots, but not win10.

Looks like bug was introduced with 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.7.diff.gz

Check here for the commit details:

Maybe the author of the affected 1.7 version (dann frazier) can help us
- I added his e-mail to the subscriber list of this bug.

Regrettably, bug has returned!

Now stuck (even after re-trying yesterdays fix) with Panel notification
showing Ethernet connection (instead of wireless signal strength), and
Desktop notification showing Disconnected, even though connection is
active. :(

It's necessary to open a new bug report?

Because this report it's for Ubuntu Utopic (no longer supported) and
Ubuntu Vivid (that it's supported yet).

[Bug 1576960] Re: apt-mark prints ambiguous package name

2016-04-30 Thread David Kalnischkies
The names aren't ambiguous – if apt prints no architecture it is ALWAYS
the native architecture. This is this way for compatibility reasons as
apt hadn't previously printed any architecture – because they were all
native – so old tools, scripts, processes, … sticking to the common case
of single-architecture systems do not need to be touched/fixed.

It just happens to be a different convention than dpkg is using – which
prints the architecture only if it could be ambiguous, like for all
packages marked as M-A:same (Since recently it also shows the
architecture for M-A:foreign packages of a non-native architecture, too)
and in exchange requires an architecture to be given (for M-A:same) even
if it isn't ambiguous [which broke pre-multiarch tools, but most tools
interacting with dpkg do this via apt which shielded them].

APT can't operate with this convention as basically every package is
available in all architectures, so a package name is always ambiguous
and hence all package names would need to be fully arch-qualified all
the time. That would be a lot of noise…

[Bug 1576970] [NEW] Regression in Ubuntu 16.04: Pause button is not shown when CanPause is true and CanPlay is false

2016-04-30 Thread Jiří Janoušek
Public bug reported:

Sound Indicator stopped working correctly with my app Nuvola Player in
Ubuntu 16.04 (this issue hasn't happened in previous Ubuntu releases).
When I start playback via the Sound Indicator play button, the play
button doesn't change to a pause button although all required MPRIS
metadata are set correctly by Nuvola Player: CanPause is true, CanPlay
is false and PlaybackStatus is Playing.

** Affects: indicator-sound (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Attachment added: "Nuvola Player, its MPRIS interface in D-feet and broken

2016-04-30 Thread Eric De Vito
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1573639 ***

The following path works for me:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/desktop:/qt5deb/Ubuntu_16.04/

The path
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/desktop/Ubuntu_16.04/

leads to qtkeychain but not owncloud-client.

However, owncloud does not show in the notification zone, even after
installing the own-cloud client after doing Roberto's workaroud :/ . Any
suggestion?

[Bug 1576963] [NEW] Feature - Bluetooth speakers and phone speakers working together

Public bug reported:

Is there a way I can have the sound coming from both the tablet speakers

[Bug 1576353] Re: install openssh-server by default, prompt for enabling it on server iso install

2016-04-30 Thread Colin Watson
I think I'm OK with adding a low-priority debconf question to disable
password authentication. That's a much lower-maintenance solution from
my point of view than the various things that have been proposed in the
past for disabling the service entirely. The packaged default would be
true (i.e. enable password auth), but the server image could preseed it
to false.

Regarding socket activation, I'd like to draw your attention to this
section from openssh-server's README.Debian file. The bit about
MaxStartups explains why I'm unwilling to make this the default on
servers:

Per-connection sshd instances with systemd
--

If you want to reconfigure systemd to listen on port 22 itself and launch an
instance of sshd for each connection (inetd-style socket activation), then
you can run:

  systemctl stop ssh.service
  systemctl start ssh.socket

To make this permanent:

  systemctl disable ssh.service
  systemctl enable ssh.socket

This may be appropriate in environments where minimal footprint is critical
(e.g. cloud guests). Be aware that this bypasses MaxStartups, and systemd's
MaxConnections cannot quite replace this as it cannot distinguish between
authenticated and unauthenticated connections; see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=963268 for more discussion.

The provided ssh.socket unit file sets ListenStream=22. If you need to have
it listen on a different address or port, then you will need to do this by
copying /lib/systemd/system/ssh.socket to /etc/systemd/system/ssh.socket and
modifying the ListenStream option. See systemd.socket(5) for details.

[Bug 1576353] Re: Install openssh-server with disabled password auth by default on servers

2016-04-30 Thread Colin Watson
Incidentally, my reasoning for "true by default" in the package is
basically the bootstrapping problem; I don't want this to be a nasty
surprise for people with existing deployment strategies. Changing
PermitRootLogin was controversy enough. But I don't mind what the
setting of this on server images is.

[Bug 1576959] [NEW] Nemo getting stuck on thumbnail generation for updated files

2016-04-30 Thread dronus
Public bug reported:

Nemo on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS

If an image file is written slowly (like beeing downloaded), nemo
sometimes get stuck on thumbnailing it. It permamnently consumes some
CPU cycles then and doesn't open any files anymore.

What happens:
-I download an JPEG image file to the desktop
-nemo shows an "jpeg" icon with a clock dial on it while the file is growing
-After the download is finished, nemo still shows the clock dial
-CPU usage is 10-20% for nemo now
-If further files are downloaded, they may get stuck too and constant CPU usage
increase sometimes. Memory usage increases too.
-nemo will not react to double click on any desktop file anymore nor to the
"open" or "open with" context menu options for ANY file
-nemo has to be killed and restarted to be able to launch files again.

Notice this may also happen sometimes if the file is written by an application,
like saving a JPEG with gimp to the desktop or any folder with an open nemo
window.

Some files also always exhibit this behaviour, eg. even when moved to an
open folder.

This is a serious flaw, as most users will not identify the problem and will be
forced to restart the computer to make "open" work again.

[Bug 1576957] [NEW] apcupsd alerts on every boot: Communications with UPS lost

2016-04-30 Thread Tony Whitmore
Public bug reported:

The apcupsd daemon sends an email alert "Communications with UPS lost"
on every boot followed almost immediately by "Communications with UPS
restored". The machine in question is connecting to a remote instance of
apcupsd running on another machine. There is no actual problem with the
remote UPS or remote apcupsd.

It could be the same problem identified in this Red Hat bug:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=789191

In that case, the problem occurs because the network interface is not up
when apcupsd is started.

How reproducible:

Every boot.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. boot
2.
3.

Actual results:
Email alert "Communications with UPS lost" followed almost immediately by
"Communications with UPS restored".

Expected results:
No alert unless remote apcupsd server is actually down.

[Bug 1576953] [NEW] e1000e driver failed with error -3

2016-04-30 Thread Diego
Public bug reported:

When I switch on my laptop, running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS amd64, it will
boot and load e1000e, but no eth* interface is present. Even repeated
rmmod and modprobe don't bring up the interface. After a reboot (i.e. no
fresh power-up) it works just fine. After the next power-cycle the
problem is there again. Laptop is a Clevo W130SV, network card is Intel
I217-LM (rev 05).

Same symptoms as in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/984404

[Bug 1576952] [NEW] apport ends with Segmentation fault

2016-04-30 Thread Muriel
Public bug reported:

There are three problems with apport on kubuntu 16.04:

1) Missing dependecies: python-pyqt5

2) Exception running the application:
UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xe9' in position
21: ordinal not in range(128)

3) Segfault at the end of the program, even if the information is sent
correctly to launchpad.

Regarding 2) can be fixed with:

[Bug 1572260] Re: gvfs-smb-browse hogs CPU after only opening nautilus

2016-04-30 Thread Haedri
I don't know if I have the exact same problem, but in my case it is because
gvfs-smb-browse tries to access a samba server (first problem is why does it
try to contact it, I never browse samba shares) using ipv6
When gvfs-smb-browse uses the whole cpu core I can run a :
netstat -laputenW | grep gvfs
And see that gvfs is trying to contact an ipv6 address

I reproduced it at home (16.04) and at work (14.04, happens since a recent
update, did not happen last month for example) :
- at home it tries to connect to the samba share of my internet box / router,
using its public ipv6 address, so this will never ever work
- at work it tries to connect to some co workers windows 10 share, using local
ipv6 addresses

I have solved my problem by :
- at home, using google ipv6 dns, that way gvfs can't get the ipv6 of my
internet box and won't try to connect to it
- at work I just disabled ipv6 (switched to local link iirc)

[Bug 1571764] Re: mysqld fails to start after upgrade: performance_schema definition errors

2016-04-30 Thread Caysho
I get the following error:
mysql_upgrade: [ERROR] 1049: Unknown database 'performance_schema'

I am doing an upgrade from Mythbuntu 14.04 LTS to Mythbuntu 16.04 LTS
and the error occurs very near the end of the upgrade.

When I ran
ubuntu-bug mysql
I get told the package is not installed

When I ran
ubuntu-bug mysql-server
I got directed to this bug.

** Description changed:

Once my session has been locked and the screen off, Xserver stops responding
to input ( I can still move the cursor). I can re-activate it by typing in a
tty "xset dpms force on".
If I just lock the screen all works fine.
If I just turn off the monitor (xset dpms force off) all works fine.

The same system (kubuntu 16.04 64bit) on different hardware (nvidia) has
  no problem.

[Bug 1575651] WifiSyslog.txt

2016-04-30 Thread Muriel
apport information

** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575651/+attachment/4651971/+files/WifiSyslog.txt

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

The same system (kubuntu 16.04 64bit) on different hardware (nvidia) has
  no problem.
+
+ Symptoms:
+ After waking the screen from power saving/screensaver, the primary display
wakes but X stops responding to input (the mouse cursor can still move, but
clicking has no effect).
+ No errors in dmesg
+
+ Frequency/conditions:
+ Occurs almost every time the screen enters power saving + locked (possibly
DPMS issue?)
+

The issue does NOT occur when running this kernel:
  - linux-image-4.6.0-996-generic (4.6.0-996.201604262201)
