[Bug 1585087] Re: *.override files do not work for session jobs

Placing the *.override file into /usr/share/upstart/xdg/ also does not
help. This is the $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS/upstart/ item in the "User Session
Mode" man page section.

[Bug 1585084] [NEW] Volume notification keeps popping up constantly(the notifyosd bubble on top-right corner)

2016-05-24 Thread sidd
Public bug reported:

I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 yesterday, I did a clean install while
preserving the home directory which is mounted in a separate partition.
Even during the installation I had constant volume notification bubble
appearing on the top-right corner of my screen, it would come and go
about twice every minute. I just thought it was due to installing
hardware drivers or something but the problem persisted even when I
booted into the freshly installed system. I did some searching and two
users reported the exact problem. And one more suggested this happens
because constant disconnect and reconnect of the sound card which makes
sense as the sound settings flashes briefly during every popup. Someone
on IRC suggested to kill pulseaudio and thus restart it, that does not
fix the issue. I also tried the Live environment thinking it might be
due to some old config files in home partition (which was preserved
during upgrade), but this problem happens in the live environment as
well, which makes sense because it was present during installation as
well.

Users with the same issue:

[Bug 1584945] Re: after reset password in /etc/passwd and set a new one, hash appears in /etc/passwd

2016-05-24 Thread Seth Arnold
A co-worker has reminded me that the 'x' in the passwd file is how the
shadow suite annotates that the password should be stored in the shadow
file:

   password field is blank. If the password field is a
   lower-case “x”, then the encrypted password is actually
   stored in the shadow(5) file instead; there must be a
   corresponding line in the /etc/shadow file, or else the user
   account is invalid. If the password field is any other

(from passwd(5))

Once the 'x' was removed, that was the indicator that the password
should be stored in the passwd file instead of the shadow file.

So this is behaving as expected.

Thanks

[Bug 1579748] Re: rtsx_usb module for Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTS5129 Card Reader Controller: mmc errors and read data corruption

2016-05-24 Thread Denys Vitali
Same problem here, I'm currently using 4.5.0-rc4-mainline with the Realtek
Semiconductor Corp. RTS5129 Card Reader Controller on Arch Linux.
The problem appears just on Linux, and I have fixed it a while ago, until I
format my pc and installed Arch. Unfortunately I don't have the solution
anymore (see
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/257033/rts5129-card-reader-with-ubuntu-15-10)
 since the user who has commented actually deleted his account.

This happens when I put on a class 10 micro sd card with an sdcard
adapter in my Acer Aspire V17 Nitro

[Bug 1361610] Re: libPCRE3 8.31 regex matching is not working

2016-05-24 Thread Mark Ebbers
Additional info; when I change the linking order of pcre and poco I got
a different output:

$ g++ regex.cc  -lPocoFoundation -lpcre
$ ./a.out
Poco 0x01030600 on Linux 4.2.0-35-generic @ x86_64
Poco match 1234567890 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? no
Poco match 123456789 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? no
PCRE 8.31 2012-07-06
PCRE match 1234567890 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? yes
PRCE match 123456789 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? yes
$ g++ regex.cc  -lpcre -lPocoFoundation
$ ./a.out
Poco 0x01030600 on Linux 4.2.0-35-generic @ x86_64
Poco match 1234567890 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? yes
Poco match 123456789 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? no
PCRE 8.31 2012-07-06
PCRE match 1234567890 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? yes
PRCE match 123456789 to pattern ^[0-9]{10} matches? no

Our system uses heavily Poco's StringTokenizer and Regex classes which
are not working correctly on 14.04 and I'm most interested in a solution
to get it back working on 14.04 :)

I'm not familiar with LD_PRELOAD and the also do not fully understand
replies like 'Yoshiki Kanemoto (yocchiman) wrote on 2015-05-01' so if
anyone could tell we what the best approach here would be I would very
greatfull

[Bug 1585020] Re: Bluetooth not work

2016-05-24 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1569357] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 - Unity desktop session broken when using non-LightDM as X Display Manager

2016-05-24 Thread Alejandro Dubrovsky
For the people like me who have trouble finding how to switch to
lightdm:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm

but also remember to:

sudo systemctl enable lightdm.service

You also might have to install lightdm before either of these if you
didn't have it installed previously:

sudo apt install lightdm

Afterwards, reboot.

[Bug 1577256] Re: The OVS+DPDK dpdkvhostuser socket bridge, only works as expected, if the KVM Guest also have DPDK drivers loaded

2016-05-24 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thanks for driving it upstream - that is the right first step.
I'll mark the bug as incomplete to properly reflect that neither you nor I can
currently really "work" on it to fix it (which triaged would imply).

** Changed in: dpdk (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Incomplete

** Changed in: openvswitch (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete
