[Bug 1506723] Re: Initial downward scroll using touchpad is too fast

2016-05-28 Thread Bob Harvey
Using the M10 tablet with OTA10.1

I find vertical scrolling can get away from me at any time, not just
initially.. Take a long site like twitter com. To scroll vertically I
have to maintain contact and drag slowly.. Eventually I fail and the
movement is seen as a flick, at which point 30photos go past in an
instant.

There needs to be a way to slow this down.

[Bug 1586657] Re: Touchpad gsettings being ignored

2016-05-28 Thread Severus Tux
@yerenkov-scott .

I had removed this package from my computer as it was buggy. But this
morning, When I did `sudo apt-get dist-upgrade` xserver-xorg-input-
libinput was installed and gdm was removed (gdm3 still exists) . Now I
cant have any other option other than waiting for devs to fix that
package.

[Bug 1372284] Re: nagios3 + livestatus: SIGSEGV everyday at midnight

2016-05-28 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hello,

I have been working hard looking for a workaround and for the root cause of it.
I had 4 servers installed and only one failing with this bug, so I tried to
find the root cause of the issue.

I had reinstalled a server and migrated all history, config, etc to see
if it had something related.

After many tests on both the new and the old one I found a workaround:

First as root:

service nagios3 stop
cd /var/lib/nagios3
rm spool/checkresults/*

I have also deleted retention file but I think it is not a cause of the
problem because I tried only with this file before and nothing was
fixed.

rm retention.dat

Then started the service

service nagios3 start

I have used hourly rotation option on nagios.cfg file, so I tested it
many times and is working smooth now.

[Bug 1586620] Re: debian/clean: config.log: not found

2016-05-28 Thread jean-christophe manciot
I haven't touch in any way "debian/clean".
Regardless, you (or the person responsible for this) could format the version
number in such a way that we could still link it to an upstream commit when it
does not match a tag; for instance, there are 7.2p2-4ubuntu1, 7.2p2-4,
7.2p2-5... when the latest tag is 7.2p2, so we can't know which commit matches
which version.
However, if the version had a format such as 7.2p3~git20160520.39c0ceca, we
would be able to map it to a known commit.

[Bug 1586709] [NEW] Decorations broken after fast startup from lightdm

2016-05-28 Thread Luca Mastromatteo
Public bug reported:

I've got an SDD which makes my system (laptop) very fast to start. The problem
happens when I got into lightdm and I don't wait a couple of seconds for the
battery icon to show up and I log in my user.
I don't know how but this broke completely my desktop and icon themes.

I don't know why but this does not seems to happen on my desktop which
has the same version of ubuntu but it's not a laptop so the battery icon
does not show.

[Bug 1561250] Re: Xenial vagrant image is missing its hostname in /etc/hosts

2016-05-28 Thread Bob Tanner
Still see the problems with 'ubuntu/xenial64' (v20160527.0.0)

Switching from the user vagrant and ssh key authentication to user
ubuntu and password authentication lets things progress a little further
but run into hostname problem.

The following SSH command responded with a non-zero exit status.
Vagrant assumes that this means the command failed!

/sbin/ifdown eth1 2> /dev/null

Stdout from the command:

Stderr from the command:

sudo: unable to resolve host ubuntu-xenial
mesg: ttyname failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Which looks like this is tracked in:

[Bug 1586707] Re: Failure mounting cifs volumes pam_mount

2016-05-28 Thread Eduardo Santos de Moraes
** Description changed:

  Since version " 2: 4.3.8 + dfsg - 0ubuntu0.14.04.2 " current " 2: 4.3.9
  + dfsg - 0ubuntu1 " that cifs volumes with " SGRP " attribute in
  pam_mount are not mounted .

In fact the volume is only mounted when the volume access permission
group is the primary group that is logged in, otherwise the volume is
  not mounted.

  For example:

If the share has only limited access to " administrators " and the
user's primary group for this , so the volume is mounted . But even if
the user belongs to the Administrators group , just not being the
primary user group ( in Active Directory usually the primary group by
default is " Domain Users " ) , the same share is not mounted.

- Distros : Ubuntu 04.14 or higher.
+ Distros : Ubuntu 14.04 or higher.

[Bug 1586708] [NEW] Abiword icon has extra smaller icons included

2016-05-28 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

[Original Bug Report]

The Abiword large icon has smaller versions of itself included. See the
attached screenshot. This can be seen in the application launcher in
Unity or GNOME Shell and also the Alt-Tab switcher in those desktops.

I believe this bug was introduced in Abiword 3.0.1 (so it would affect
Ubuntu 15.04, 15.10 and 16.04 LTS. It is fixed in abiword 3.0.1-7 for
Ubuntu 16.10 (development).

[Test case]

1. Install Abiword
2a. From Unity (the default user interface of Ubuntu), click the top left icon
to open the Dash. Click the 2nd icon at the bottom to open the Applications
view and look for Abiword.

or
2b. From GNOME (the default user interface of Ubuntu GNOME), click the
Activities button. Click the Show Applications button at the bottom left.

I don't think other desktops like XFCE and LXDE show the high-resolution
application icon so this bug is not as noticable there.

3. Verify the icon displays correctly without embedded smaller versions
of itself.

See the visual diff at

https://github.com/AbiWord/abiword/commit/b0c7c0c971d15091b280ff9ba0d4abbfc94f9d1b?short_path=10fc502
#diff-10fc5020166685caf25ae700dcee4921

[Regression potential]

The patch to fix this only affects the high-resolution .svg application
icon. The low-resolution icons used elsewhere are .pngs and are not
affected.

The patch was committed to Abiword's ABI-3-0-0-STABLE branch 7 months
ago but Abiword has not made a stable release tarball with the fix.

[Bug 1509723] Re: [Acer Aspire ES1-311] Ubuntu freezes occasionally

2016-05-28 Thread Mike
I have also been having this problem since at least 15.xx I think 14.10
was ok but can't remember for sure.

I am running 64 bit 16.04 on an AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores
4C+6G with 4gb ram and WDC3200BEVT-0 hard drive.

This problem seems to have been around for some time now and is
affecting a lot of people using lots of different hardware
configurations. There have also been a large number of auto updates but
nothing seems to have made any difference. Has any progress been made or
is it still a mystery that we have to put up with?

[Bug 1577197] Re: Pulseaudio bluez5-util.c: TryAcquire() failed - Operation Not Authorized

2016-05-28 Thread Afforess
I can also confirm this for 16.04. I note a very similar error in the
syslog:

May 28 17:34:58 afforess-pc pulseaudio[2004]: [pulseaudio]
module-bluez5-device.c: Default profile not connected, selecting off profile
May 28 17:35:00 afforess-pc bluetoothd[1009]:

Transport TryAcquire() failed for transport
/org/bluez/hci0/dev_20_9B_A5_5D_BB_30/fd2 (Operation Not Authorized)

/devices/virtual/input/input27

I did some digging at one point, and the error from bluez5 seems to
originate from DBus, and may be a permissions issue with the bluetooth
DBus configuration or pulseaudio DBus configuration.

The workaround suggested by Con Kolivas works, but is very annoying.

Re: [Bug 1574079] Re: USB audio device is not recognized after startup in 16.04

2016-05-28 Thread Mario Limonciello
Well that's interesting, it looks like your audio device might have a dfu
mode. I wonder if that's the case for the other reporters. Can you please
also share lsusb output? Everyone affected it would be great to share both
of these so that upstream can make sense of common denominations to figure
what's actually going on.

[Bug 1586692] [NEW] bluetooth speakers only work once

2016-05-28 Thread Bob Harvey
Public bug reported:

m10 tablet, OTA10.1
today I am successfully connected to keyboard, mouse, AND bluetooth spakers.
All OS beeps and noises are coming out of the bluetooth speakers. If I start
podbird, cloudmusic, or one of the radio apps, then they are either silent or
the sound comes out of the bluetooth speakers.

if I disconnect the bluetooth speakers, and reconnect them, the sound
will come from the tablet. The speakers are shown as connected, but
don't work. The only way to get them working again is to power down the
tablet and restart it.

[Bug 1503731] Re: 8086:0f31 Ubuntu 15.04-15.10 freezes totally

2016-05-28 Thread jbMacAZ
I've been following these freeze issues since kernel 4.2. cstate is no
longer as effective since 4.6-rc7+ and 4.5.4+.

The known relevant commits are (from bugzilla #109051):

Freezing started after 3.16.7 with commit
31685c258e0b0ad6aa486c5ec001382cf8a64212
freezing worsened again between 4.1 and 4.2 with commit
8fb55197e64d5988ec57b54e973daeea72c3f2ff
Reverting these commits in later kernels does not solve the problem. But for
some users, it extends run time before the next freeze, sometimes
substantially. intel_idle.max_cstate={0,1} has helped the most users the most,
but it is a just a bandaid, not always effective.

The most recent kernels have rendered the ..cstate argument ineffective.
Other improvements in the kernel have reduced my freeze rate from < 30
minutes to about 10 hours. At those rates, it could take a month to
bisect.

Freezing only seems to occur on Intel processors (atom and later). The
freeze rates vary widely from minutes to weeks. It has dependencies on
the particular Intel processor & revision, the hardware platform and the
kernel version. Linux distro does not seem to matter much. I have
experienced freezes with Ubuntu, Mint, Manjaro, and Android_x86 on
multiple platforms (Asus T100CHI & 2 Dell laptops) For me, cstate worked
to prevent freezes until very recent kernels.

As an intermittent problem, most freeze reports have been dismissed with
"It's not in my arena". I believe this a cluster of problems requiring
concurrent fixes. I'm not sure what Ubuntu can do to solve what seems
to be obvious upstream kernel problems.

Maybe Canonical can exert some influence on kernel.org to work on these
freezes rather than breaking features that work while they push the
bleeding edge outward. Many thousands of systems are affected, some of
which belong to IT professions who influence equipment purchase and
configuration for large corporations. An 18 month old fatal bug is a PR
disaster waiting to happen. By fatal I mean that the freeze can
irreparably corrupt an installed system (and I've had to re-install
twice so far.)

[Bug 1586682] Re: Unable to install on empty partition side by side with Windows

2016-05-28 Thread Walter_Wittel
Running GParted from x64 Live boot gives Libparted Warning dialog "The
driver descriptor says the physical block size is 2048 bytes, but Linux
says it is 512 bytes."

Note that this partition previously had x86 14.04 LTS desktop installed
and I had attempted to upgrade to 16.04 from the GUI after running "sudo
update-manager -d". The upgrade failed and left the partition
unbootable. I noticed the Libparted warning dialog when trying to look
at the state of the partition (still had two partitions for Ubuntu and
swap), but decided to use Windows Vista's Disk Manager to delete them.
Still same message from GParted but no errors apparent from Windows.

This bug was fixed in the package libcap2 - 1:2.25-1

---
libcap2 (1:2.25-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release. LP: #1451601
  * Drop package libcap2-dbg in favor of automatic dbgsym packages, as per
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/12/msg00262.html.
  * d/control:
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.8 (no changes needed)
- Increase Priority of libcap2{,-bin} to important. Closes: #815566
- Drop libattr1-dev from Build-Depends. Upstream no longer uses this
library and instead uses the kernel API directly
- Switch Vcs-Browser from gitweb to cgit
- Switch to secure URIs in Vcs-* fields
  * d/rules:
- Add hardening=+all to DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS
  * d/tests:
- executables:
  + Fix typos
+ Don't mount over ADTTMP, use a subdir instead. ADTTMP could already be
a mount point for another filesystem, which could make things slightly
more confusing
  + Improve output
  * d/copyright:
- Bump copyright years
  * d/patches (added):
- Avoid-sys-capability.h-on-build-architecture.patch
Fixes a FTCBFS on kFreeBSD. Thanks, Helmut Grohne! Closes: #809467
- Filter-out-PIE-flags-when-building-shared-objects.patch
Filters out -pie, -fpie, and -fPIE from CFLAGS/LDFLAGS when building the
shared library and the PAM module
- Spelling-fixes.patch
  * d/patches (updated):
- setcap-error-message.patch
- Update Don-t-hardcode-build-flags.patch
  * d/patches (dropped):
- Drop include-sys-xattr.patch
The reason it was initially created for ceased to exist in 2.25
  * libcap2-bin:
- lintian override for spelling-error-in-readme-debian (false positive)

[Bug 1586657] Re: Touchpad gsettings being ignored

2016-05-28 Thread Jeremy Bicha
The Settings app (gnome-control-center and gnome-settings-daemon)
included in GNOME 3.20 only support the new xserver-xorg-input-libinput
driver.

We would just make that a dependency of gnome-control-center then except
that unity-control-center doesn't yet support changing touchpad settings
with it. For Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 (still in development), the libinput
package is a recommends currently.

Yes, it is a different touchpad driver and works differently than the
old -synaptics driver. Maybe it will be more comfortable once you get
used to it. If not, you can report a new bug:

ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-input-libinput

@Severus Tux, Yes, I am getting the same, I think it time I did file a

Though maybe I will have a look at the dconf-editor and gnome-tweak-tool
options first because I was sure there was something about touchpad
usability area or something like that, but I could be mistaken.

I pushed an update to the nautilus package (1:3.20.1-0ubuntu1~xenial2)
today that I think fixes this bug.

Please update your packages and then restart all Nautilus instances
(logging out and then back in is a good way to do this). Please report
here whether this fixes your bug or not.

Although it wasn't needed here, in the future, please use ubuntu-bug to report
bugs like this. In this case, you could have ran

ubuntu-bug nautilus

[Bug 1578144] Re: cacti and cacti-spine are not compatible with MySQL 5.7 default sql_mode

2016-05-28 Thread Paul Gevers
With respect to those 1055 errors, I have looked at a couple and without
digging deep, I can't judge how severe they are. Several of those appear
in places where I expect issues would have turned up already. For at
least one case, upstream already said:

"user management, JOIN between usear_auth and user_log where in user_log
entries for certain users may be missing due to the fact that they did
not yet login"

Although I don't fully follow, it appears to me that they judged "I know
what I am doing".

So I suggest we indeed add the line in comment #41.

[Bug 1586657] Re: Touchpad gsettings being ignored

2016-05-28 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Also, I have just noticed that when I install this package, although it
fixes the problem it does something crazy to the mouse sensitivity
(possibly) and speed, but no matter what I do with the speed settings I
can't stop it just jumping and shaking all the time even if I'm not even
trying to move it... It's either too fast or too slow, it's like an
overly exciting owl or something... I'm just mulling over whether I
should report this as a bug or not or keep trying with the settings...

[Bug 1573077] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2016-05-28 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From k...@de.ibm.com 2016-05-28 13:50 EDT---
We would like to retest the bug with 16.04.01 if this is OK. As strategy we
would like to keep 16.04 bugs not to be mixed as verification on other release
16.10. Is this OK?
